I've given this place multiple chances over several visits, but unfortunately the service has been consistently disappointing. My first experience should have been a warning sign. I walked in and stood waiting to be seated while an employee, who appeared to be the owner or manager, continued talking with her kids instead of acknowledging customers. I don't mind waiting, but a simple "We'll be right with you" would have made all the difference. I decided to give them another chance. On a later visit, I spent a few hours working there and ordered drinks. When a friend joined me, he sat down and was completely ignored. No one came over to greet him or ask if he'd like anything. We eventually had to flag someone down just so he could place an order. After that, our server mentioned that Tuesdays were buy one, get one free on wine. I ordered my second glass, but it never arrived. When I asked another server about it, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. The irony is that I would have happily paid full price--I wasn't the one asking for a deal. They were the ones who brought up the promotion, then acted bothered when I politely asked about the wine that was never delivered. The final straw was our most recent visit. We were seated at a table by the staff, only to be told a few minutes later that we had to move because the tables were supposedly reserved for the party sitting behind us. We moved without making an issue of it, but no one ever ended up using those tables for the entire time we were there. It was frustrating to be relocated after being seated, especially when the explanation didn't match what actually happened. At this point, it's hard to view these experiences as isolated incidents. The common theme has been inattentive service and an attitude that makes customers feel like they're an inconvenience rather than guests. There are too many great wine bars that genuinely appreciate their customers for me to spend any more time or money here. read more

We visited during Super Bowl weekend after walking by it a few times before, so we were excited to finally check it out. This spot is really cute. From the outside, it looks like a small church, and inside it feels like a greenhouse. Unfortunately, the service was pretty disappointing. We wanted to order the cheesy pizza, but the waitress mistakenly brought out a charcuterie board instead. When we pointed it out, there wasn't really an offer to send it back or comp it, so we just decided to take it to go and ordered the pizza afterward. Since we were taking the charcuterie with us, we asked for a bag to carry everything. Location, location, location. Vintage Wine Bar is smack-dab in the middle of the Row. It's beautifully lit up at night and even more whimsical during Christmas time. Depending on their menu selection, I usually go for either their sparkling flight or a bottle of bubbly. Their menu does alternate, as one time they had lambrusco! Today I came with my sister and her daughter to celebrate my belated Birthday! After entering the shop we waited about 10 min because the manager was climbing on a ladder fixing something. I greeted her and asked her if we can have table outside. She finally came down from the latter and seated us. My sister's daughter-- 6 years old!-- had one little donut and can of soda and sat quietly enjoying her sweet treat while my sister and I waited to order wine tasting flights. The waitress then came to tell us that her manager told her that we can't have outside food and drink. They think it is ok to tell little kid not eat her doughnut while moms enjoy glass of wine? It was upsetting. What could we do? Take the child's donut away? Very frustrating. We left and went to different place where they have no problem that kid had her one doughnut! I often find myself waiting much longer than I should for food+wine and even longer for the check. The bussers are kind but a bit inexperienced and unprofessional. Manager is not qualified to be a manager there. Walked in with my fiancé in the evening and there were virtually no customers the place was slow. We tried to ask if we could put a table next to the one the hostess sat us at so we could sit by each other, and the "manager" rushed over asking how many people (in an aggressive tone) in which I responded just two but is it okay if we just push these together. She responded no, with an attitude, and made up an excuse and we said okay and decided to just leave since she was very unprofessional/not accommodating even though the place was practically empty. Then she muttered something as we walked out and started berating my fiance and caused a problem with him. She truly is the worst manager I've ever came across in an establishment. Honestly I feel bad for the workers there who have to deal with her. Truly such an odd experience just for wanting to sit next to each other. One of my favorite places in the South Bay for hanging with friends. Park at nearby garages, deal with the Santana traffic, sit in the middle of chaos and feel cozy. They have good selections of wines, whatever kind you like, they have something. The patio is also pup-friendly! When the weather is bad, you can visit their shop Vintage Wine Merchants across from the theater that provide a more casual indoor tasting experience. Service is hit or miss, but that's what I've come to expect from all the restaurants at Santana row. I always order the cheese and charcuterie plate, but they also have a small food menu if you're looking for something substantial. Personally, I always get one of their wine flights. We sat outside, and while the tables weren't the most comfortable, it was a great place for people watching on Santana Row. It's also pretty cute at night with all the string lights. I also have to mention that our server was very sweet to my dog and brought out a water bowl upon request. All three of us decided to try the wine flights - I got the Cabernet & Friends Flight and my friends chose the Wide World of Reds Flight and what I believe was called the Juicy Flight? I don't see it on their menu now, but I'm 80% sure that was the name. We genuinely enjoyed all the wines and the pours were quite reasonable. We also decided to get some snacks - my friend's Tomato-Pesto Grilled Cheese was good but ultimately nothing special (it's just a grilled cheese, after all). However, my other friend really enjoyed the Burrata Primavera and my Nuts for Brie was easily the star of the show. They import their Brie from France, and it tastes incredible - very generous portion size too, so I recommend sharing this one! Overall, I would happily return to Vintage Wine Bar. read more

Despite wine being their bread and butter, their selection is average or miss. Ask to get a small taste before ordering, and ask to mix and match if you get a flight. Because 1-2 of every 3 wines are not great. Food: the only thing that's worth getting (maybe) is the truffle chips. But after inflation the chips have half the truffle flavor LOL. I walked from my hotel to Santana Row. Absolutely lovely area! I walked into Vintage Wine Bar after having lunch and doing some shopping. Empty tables abound but the patio looks like it might possibly be full. As she dries 3 clean wine glasses, she tells me if I'd like to be seated to come back in 15 minutes to allow her to clean the stemware....mind you, I only need one and I just watched her dry 3.
