Never had chicken and waffles, holy cow was it amazing. My mouth is watering thinking about it.

I've had Dirty Bird at a few different events now, including birthday parties and a recent wedding. The owners are absolutely wonderful and provide fantastic service every single time! As for the food, the chicken is always a hit. Incredibly flavorful, juicy, and well seasoned. However, the waffles haven't quite hit the mark for me. Across a few different tastings, they've tended to come out a bit charred and dry rather than fluffy and sweet. I think one side of the waffle always has been missing sauce. It might just be a personal preference because others seem to love them ! Either way I think it's worth giving it a try even for the chicken alone. read more

Although I like my seasoning to be bit saltier in flavor when it comes to fried foods, everything was seasoned to perfection! The flavors of everything blended to perfection for what it is! The cornbread tastes like cake instead of cornbread and fries could use a little salt unless they leave it up to the buyers discretion and can add salt and pepper on the side! They swapped out the slaw with Mac and cheese in which im very appreciative for that they were able to accommodate me for that which is beautiful customer service! Although I didn't get to see the restaurant, the food was not overly greasy nor did you taste the grease in the food and the haddock was not over fishy either! Def recommend! read more

The food was so delicious & fresh. The service was excellent. The ambiance was great, it wasn't over crowded I ordered a catfish dinner, the fish was seasoned just right and every bite was juicy, it came with cornbread, Cole slaw, and tartar sauce. I was surprised I only gave Dirty Birds four stars originally because I've been obsessed with their food ever since even if I don't get it nearly as much as I want to. I don't even try chicken and waffles anywhere else anymore because it's always a comparative letdown. The chicken is always juicy and flavorful. The batter is just right and the seasoning has a pleasant kick. The bourbon maple sauce is great. The waffles are good, too. I'd say it's hard to screw up waffles but other places have managed. Other menu items are good, but the chicken and waffles - be it the sandwich or the kabob - is the item to get. The perfect combination of sweet and savory. They arrived ahead of the scheduled time and got straight to work to ensure staff would be able to grab their meals and go right at 11:30am. I kept seeing folks walk by with their ENORMOUS portion of food and OMG...the succulent smell of the salty sweet goodness of the chicken fingers, The Boss, fish and chicken and waffles and fried had me WEAK! The restaurant is small and not really setup for dine in. So call a head of time to get your food fast to avoid the crowd. Fish fry (everyday)- you have a choice of catfish or haddock. After previously trying their chicken and waffles, I couldn't wait to dig into their fish fries. First off, they were huge! We both ordered the beer battered. Each was large enough to share, which is exactly what we did. The fish was thick and flaky with a nice crunchy batter. The fries definitely lost their crisp by the time we got home, but a quick pop in the over took care of that. The cole slaw had a kick as it was loaded with black pepper, which I loved but my husband could have done without. No corn bread was in our containers. Was a bit disappointed with that since we had been talking about it with the owner while waiting for our food. Overall, a decent meal. My friend and I stopped here as part of a Yelp event, but I did order other things. For the Yelp event we each got two skewers of the waffles and fried chicken. The maple buttery sauce that was cascaded over the dish was magnificent. I also ordered the cornbread. It was moist and delicious. I saved it for breakfast the next day and it was still wonderful. In addition to the above, I ordered the pizza logs. They came with hot sauce on the side. I do enjoy dipping my pizza logs in hot sauce, blue cheese and ranch, depending on what I have on hand or what I'm in the mood for. They were good. I don't think they were homemade, I think they were your standard pizza log originals. The staff are extremely friendly. There is a small counter space if you wanted to eat, or sit and wait for your order. I would recommend calling ahead and taking your food to go, because of the small quarters. The waffles on a stick made me want to try the full blown chicken and waffle. It was equal waffle and chicken with a side of their maple syrup. The haddock was huge, probably enough for 2 people. Both the fish and the chicken were well seasoned and not drowned in batter, which I very much appreciate. You also get a side of cornbread amd coleslaw with the haddock. Both of which were tasty. I later came back to this place to try the full blown chicken and waffles. The chicken was sandwiched in between 2 fluffy soft waffles and a side of potatoey fries. Not crunchy if thats your style. How could the name "Dirty Bird" sound so wrong to you, unless the Bird fell in some Mud and needs to take a Bath before it takes Flight. It could also be in reference to the NFL Team, Atlanta Falcons before they take the Football Field to win against their Opponent. I've passed this Truck a couple times during Food Truck Tuesdays because it wasn't something I was interested in. I am not opposed to anything Fried, submerged in scalding hot Oil until the Meat is cooked perfectly while the Batter is Golden Brown and Crispy. There's nothing wrong with being Messy with your food, its also not Necessary to use Silverware to get Down & Dirty, but be sure to have plenty of Napkins. My 1st experience with Soulful Food Truck was a few weeks ago at the Taste of Buffalo. I still had 4 Food Tickets remaining in my Hand, problem was that there weren't a lot of Food Stands in this Post Pandemic Event. I pretty much settled for this spot because I couldn't think of anywhere else to go. I waited in a line that was a mile and a half long for a little over 20 Minutes for a Slider. A Pulled BBQ Chicken Slider that had Chicken (Tender yes and Mild Flavored) but buried under a Mountain of Coleslaw that I had to take some off. My 2nd interaction with them was today at the Erie County Fair, seeing as the older I get the more I outgrow my excitement and Enthusiasm for going on Rides and all that. I mostly just walk, look around at Souvenirs and Eat Great Food. I stumbled upon their stand in the midway and it was Quarter to 3 in the Afternoon and I needed to get something in my Belly for a Late Lunch. I went to go in line but before I did my Brother Nathan pulled me back to give me a coupon for $1 off either a Fried Chicken Taco or a Fried Chicken Sandwich. I went for the Tacos (I wasn't in the mood for Waffles), even with that it was still $9. But after nearly a 10 Minute wait, I thought the Price fit the Bill as I was bestowed upon me 2 Golden Brown Boneless Chicken Breasts that were Fried to Perfection. What made it even better was that the Pieces of Chicken were even bigger than the Taco Shell holding it in. I couldn't even wrap it around them, as I sunk my Teeth into it, I took in that even with all the Cheddar Cheese Coleslaw and Boom Boom Sauce that was piled on top of it that the Chicken still maintained its Crispy Texture. With each bite that I took I felt that pleasure-able Punch of Heat from the Sauce, after a few minutes it was gone. These guys sure know how to make the ultimate Comfort Food feel so Homey, with food like this it's no wonder that each and every day that these Dirty Birds are taking Flight. !!! read more

Tried their fried chicken for the first time and wasn't disappointed. I got the "Dirty Bird Chicken" chicken and waffle sandwich for takeout. The fried chicken was definitely the highlight - crispy, with delicious tender and juicy white meat inside. The waffle was meh, part of the problem may have been the takeout container, but either way it was incredibly mushy in the five minute ride back home. The fries didn't keep their crisp either (and they were from a box vs fresh cut), which was a bit disappointing, but overall - it was a good value and whole lot of chicken & waffle for $11 (inc tax). I'd be curious to see if I could figure out a way to keep the waffles crisp or I may try it on a sandwich next time instead of the waffle and hopefully have that be a bit more crispy. read more

3.5 rounded up to 4... Dirty Bird can be a bit hit or miss, but when it hits, it hits big, and if it misses, it's usually not a total catastrophe. I LOVE chicken and waffles... and the fact that Dirty Bird makes it as a sandwich that's good on the go is a definite plus... but it also makes the probability of being messy a bit higher. Their original sandwich with the maple butter is definitely good, but I find myself going with the Western Heat most often... the combination of the chicken, pepper jack cheese, BBQ sauce and onion rings, plus having jalapeño in the wallet puts it over the top. There have been a few occasions in which the waffles have been a bit underdone and the chicken a bit over done, but more often than not, the chicken and waffles are cooked great. I'm not the biggest fan of steak fries in general, but I've always felt they've done a good job with them. I've just recently found out that on Sundays they do soul food platters where you can get chicken, ribs or both (either fried or BBQ) and choice of sides and cornbread... next time I go I'm going to give it a try and likely give an update. read more

It was a rainy Thursday after going with my friends family to the Aquarium and I had one thing on my mind -Lunch! This place has been on my radar since I've seen the long lines at their food truck at various events. Sadly, no indoor seating but we were ok to place our order and it eat take out style in the van . They give you a pager to let you know when it is ready . 3 of the 5 of us opted to get one of their famous chicken and waffle sandwiches , also an order of tenders and one skinny chicken wrap (what kid doesn't like breading?!?!?) We waited about 30 min before the buzzer went off .... 4/5 of the order was ready but they know kids get antsy so they wanted us to get some of the food while they had it ready (great customer service tactic!) My stuff was ready in 5 minutes - they even added the ranch right on top of the fries as requested. The guys who run this place are great! And the food was delicious- sloppy but tasty !
