Everything was top notch at Tortuga... The sandwiches are a meal and a half, well made with quality ingredients. There are so many enticing choices it was hard to make a decision. Well, just close your eyes and point, then vow to go back another time and have a different item. The Brussels sprouts special of the day was so good 3 of us devoured them in less than a minute. The sandwiches are mighty and enough for lunch and then dinner as soon as you're hungry again. Don't pass on the sweets, either. You'll regret it if you don't try the Aztec cake. Order at the counter.... They said 15 minutes for our sandwiches but it was much faster than that as we were the only customers at 2:30 on a weekday. It's not a fancy place, just a few tables, but they were playing some good tunes and it was pleasant to sit there and eat it sandwiches.

Great food! Worth the price! It's a hidden gem in Sanborn. I always get the brasa on a salad instead of the sandwich. Soooo good! The chicken is flavorful and cooked well. The super crispy potatoes are worth it as your side upgrade. Definitely try it if you haven't! Also, I normally order ahead of time on the Toast App and pick up. Easy and convenient.

I ate lunch here today for the first time. Excellent doesn't do it justice. There are so many run-of-the-mill sub shops in WNY - this is not one of them! Everything there is original and unique to the area. I had the Chino and it was amazing.

Everything is seriously incredible here. I've tried a bunch of the sandwiches now and my favorite remains the Zamira. The elote pasta salad and super crispy potatoes are both amazing too. The flavors are just unmatched. They know what they're doing here. I'll drive nearly 40 minutes out of the way to come back here.

Guys please get yourselves over to tortuga. The woman at the counter when I went in was so polite and nice. Clean and decorated in a bright colorful atmosphere. Now onto the food... crazy good. The Gustavo sandwich is so flavorful and I got a side of Mac and cheese bites that were incredible. My friend told me to try the Andes fries and they were not wrong! Don't sleep on this place!

Yum, yum, yum! This came across the Facebook feed of fellow Yelp Elite Squad member Ashley L. She sent the week's special which looked amazing and it must have been because it was well sold out! Sitting in the car outside the restaurant, pondering the menu (before knowing the special was sold out) we did have what another choice in mind, what other Yelpers were talking about, the Gustavo. Online ordering is coming soon and opposed to being the weirdos calling from outside we decided to just go in. The restaurant is small, a few tables and chairs are widely spaced and a sign instructs to follow the mats to the counter. The walls are decorated with large pictures of the business and other imagery, petroglyphs or Nazca lines. I recognized the hummingbird bird, and love the Indigenous touch. You'll place your order at the counter if you haven't called ahead. There is a black board menu on the wall or you can look at a paper menu or online. As previously mentioned we ordered a Gustavo which comes with a side of choice, chips or salad. The sandwiches are big, the bread was perfectly toasted, crusty on the outside but still soft and chewy on the inside. I first tasted a bit of the breading of the the fried chicken, immediately I could taste the seasoning and spices of the mix, it had a little heat to it but not overpowering. When eaten with the rest of the sandwich the accouterments balance each other, providing creamy, sweet, heat into a delicious bite. Splitting the sandwich we also dived into the Madrid style potatoes. Crispy potatoes with a Brava sauce, Manchego cheese and garlic aioli... Wow they fried these potatoes right, even though covered in sauce they remained crisp as my fork cracked into it and with each bite. The crisp skin and soft interior, salted and when covered in the amazing Brava sauce was phenomenal. We will certainly be coming back and trying other dishes!

Absolutely incredible place. They feature food with elements from Latin America and have a great variety to their menu. I opted for the specials. The Soup "sopa la boca" had the most amazing broth. Sausage, greens. lentils, all served with an amazingly fresh chimichurri. There was just a touch of heat to it. Not overly spicy at all, just packed with flavor. The Brasa sandwich was marinaded chicken with coleslaw, avocado, potato sticks and aji verde. One half is plenty. The chicken was tender, not dry at all. Since it was grilled, it seemed to balance the sandwich so it wasn't too heavy. I chose the side salad over the chips with their garlic dressing. If you're anywhere close by, make the detour! It's worth it. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu

    Chivito over power grains

What a hidden gem! At least for me it was hidden... I drove by it at least a half dozen times without even knowing it was there. I have eaten lunch from here a few times and have never had a bite of disappointment.... Yes, I did mean to write "bite" there. On my first visit, I had a traditional (meaning on the yummy roll) Lanza sandwich. It has Argentine sausage and a blanket of cheese! Next venture, I ordered the Chino over rice. It is marinated steak with onions and peppers...oh, and fries . My most recent visit I noticed a change in the menu and was able to get my "sandwich" over quinoa and brown rice... Yum! The sandwich I chose, which I be do believe was also a new option, is the Chivito! Tender marinated ribeye, crisp bacon, a blanket of gooey provolone and chimichurri and garlic aioli topped with a fried egg! There was lettuce too, but who really cares about that part?! Haha. I think the Chivito has been my favorite this far. But, I'm on a mission to try every sandwich at least once. All the options they have if you don't want it on the roll now are saffron rice, power grains (quinoa & brown rice), mixed greens, crispy taters or a flour tortilla. The standard sides are chips or coleslaw. You can upgrade to other sides and save $1 off whichever side you pick. When in Sanborn and hungry or heck, not even hungry, do yourself a favor and grab a bite for now or later from Tortuga!

A friend told me about this sandwich shop a couple of times, so I decided it was time to try it out. I placed an order over the phone for the Gustavo (no jalapeños) with the side salad with house-made roasted garlic parm dressing, churros and a tart cherry limeade. The side salad was just greens with dressing, but the greens were fresh and the dressing so good! I would order just a large salad in the future. The full size salads come with grape tomatoes and house-made croutons. The Gustavo was good and a very large portion. It was actually way too big for me. The crispy chicken reminded me of a chicken cutlet and it was yummy. The avocado was fresh and mixed well with the aioli. The bread was especially fresh. The churros was unfortunately very over fried. If I had ate there or checked them before leaving, I would've asked for a new batch. I couldn't eat more than one. The tarte cherry limeade was VERY tarte. It tasted like fresh lime and especially tarte cherry mixed together. It was way too tarte for me. I had to add sugar to it when I got home. It was still a bit too tarte, but drinkable. It was strong like fresh grapefruit. I would prefer a half size sandwich option. I ended up spending $23 (without tip because I didn't have cash and there was no add tip to card option (sad face) ) and I would've preferred to have spent less. The sandwich is huge, but again, too much for me.

    Pepe Serrano ham and chips.

Used to frequent this location for breakfast with the previous owner, it's good that the history of good food continues in this location. For lunch I chose the Pepe made with Serrano ham, etc. my better half chose the Gustav chicken sandwich. We both picked the homemade chips which were quite good. Trading sandwich halves allowed both of us to try two menu items and starting with the ham was beneficial for me. It was good but the chicken was much better. Much, much better! Loved it. For lunch it was a bit pricey but the quality justified the cost. I just worry if they can make it in a COVID market in sleepy Sanborn.

Service from the bartender was great. He offered up some suggestions, which I needed because they have a large menu loaded with so many appetizing and amazing looking options. I started with their potstickers... They came out with a hard, fried shell and the dipping sauce went nicely with them. Enough to share, or even enough to enjoy and still have room for an entrée. My main dish was their Chicken & Waffle. This isn't some ordinary chicken and waffle, it's definitely an amped up version, made with unique and interesting ingredients, culminating in great flavors! The chicken was so large and very tender - it was amazing! The bacon and sauce on top went with it nicely, and the chive waffle was great with it! Each bite was definitely amazing! This was a great experience, I can see why they have so many reviews and such high stars, those are well-deserved stars!! Definitely recommend stopping in here!

The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, which made it even more enjoyable. I ordered fried calamari along with single chicken wings tossed in an Asian sweet and spicy sauce--both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The combination of crispy textures and bold flavors really stood out. What made the experience even better was the service. Our server was amazing--attentive, friendly, and truly great at her job. She made us feel welcome from the start. I always enjoy trying new places, and this visit did not disappoint. If you're looking for an American restaurant near Niagara Falls, this is definitely worth trying. We ended the meal with a delicious dessert, which was the perfect sweet finish to a great experience.
