I recently moved here and was honestly dismayed by the lack of places that clean the inside of your car too. Yes, I'm lazy. I've accepted it. I tried one of the "hand car washes" near Boise. It was... okay. But they frequently missed parts of my car despite using protein-based robots to do the washing. Apparently the metal robots have the advantage -- those things are like EverReady batteries: they just keep going and going. I was paying more for the hand wash, getting so-so results, and usually waiting in a big line. Their interior service was fine, but I think the Overland location is every bit as good. Then there's another alleged über-premium "hand job" car wash in town. But before you can experience the pleasure of their hand job, you apparently have to buy some fancy wax/detailing package first. They were also the priciest place I found. Never tried it. Maybe it's a unicorn. Now I never will. It felt a little like dealing with a nightclub bouncer: apparently I'm just not good enough to be allowed in and overpay for a car wash. Anywho... At the Overland location, while you wait for the interior service, they've got free popcorn, soda, water, coffee, and some comfortable couches. Mega Carwash was a great find, value and highly recommend. For $6 we were able to clean the jeep up enough to have a clean vehicle for the rest of our adventure and on up to Portland. But the drive through wash is fast and many cars can go through the tunnel one right after the other so you won't have to wait longer than a few minutes. The tunnel wash is gentle but effective. My car started out dirty and dusty before going through and after driving out the other side my car was clean. But the machine rag rollers inside the tunnel are not too harsh because I could not figure out how to turn off the automatic windshield wipers on my husbands car and even though the wipers were furiously going back and forth under the big roller and I was panicking, the wipers were unharmed. The regular wash is only 7 dollars if you don't have the monthly unlimited membership. Every wash includes being able to park in a stall afterwards and vacuum your own car with their powerful hose vacuums. They also have three cool perks that I have not seen before. The first one is an automatic floor mat washer machine. You take your floor mat over to the machine, push start, and start feeding your mat into the machine upside down. Then two minutes later you go back to the machine and your mat is nice and clean and waiting for you in the metal bin below the machine like a piece of toast that is perfectly done lol. The second cool thing is you can vacuum your mat by sticking it in a big clip by the vacuum holder. The third thing is there are clean rolled rags available on the wall by the vacuums. You can wipe down any leftover drips and then place your used rag in the top of the container which is separate from the clean rags. All the extra self cleaning perks are included in every wash.

Switched to Rocket as it was slightly more convenient anyway. IMO the wash equipment is better and provides just the right amount of vehicle body/wash interface, fresh cotton terry towels for drying, covered area provided, great vacs. I watch and inspect my paint regularly and have not noticed any scratching. Goodbye handwashing!!!! Only complaint is 10a open on Sunday. 8am would be a nice to have. When I showed them what wasn't done they said we went through it already didn't even look or want to do anything about it. I don't even think they hand waxed the van and likely just ran it through the car wash and hand dried it. That excitement was short-lived. At the four Bluebird locations I have used in the past, the experience has always been the same: The attendant outside waves and smiles as you head to the member lane, the person inside waves and smiles and mouths a thank you and make you feel welcome. That's the opposite of Epic, where the outside employee was more interested in his cell phone than on customers entering the drive. And where the inside attendant didn't smile or wave, just motioned with his hand sign to keep moving forward. No thank you or smile when I reached the starting spot. The wash equipment itself was much older than what Bluebird uses and didn't seem to clean as well. My car was still wet when I left the blow dryers. I'd rather go out of my way to return to my regular Bluebird locations than to return to Epic. I hope the owners of Spotless Brands from Illinois, which bought the two Idaho chains last fall, concentrate on the Bluebird model and look to improve the Epic side of the business, which is far from epic, at least at this location.

Still dusted with dirt, as if they'd been overlooked like the salad no one touches. Even the drying process felt half-hearted -- imagine being served a soggy casserole that's lukewarm at best. Sure, my truck looked slightly better, but it was far from spotless, and I couldn't help but feel like I'd wasted my time and money. If you're in a rush and just need to rinse off the surface, maybe this place will do -- but if you're hoping for that showroom shine? Don't count on it. Much like surviving an evening with opinionated relatives and overcooked roast beef, you'll leave Epic Shine feeling disappointed and plotting a better choice for next time.
