I bought a 1959 Cadillac owned by Muhammad Ali at a Barrett Jackson auction. It wasn't totally neglected, it was just sort of totally neglected. My project started out as a bid to change out the freeze plugs. This morphed into a light refresh of the engine--all new gaskets except for the heads. Oil change. New coolant. The bolts came in two version--cuss it's so tight it doesn't want to budge, and so loose you can turn them with your fingers. Eric sent me pictures every step of the way. He marks the bolts to confirm they were torqued to spec. He does so much better work than I could. And he didn't break anything in the process like I would've. That alone made using him a bargain. He's kind of fanatical but in a good way to make sure everything is just right. And kept me informed the whole way through. Well guess what. What he's done with the '59 Caddy, there's a few things I need done to my McLaren. And a couple things I need done to my supercharged 928S4. And a couple things to my daughter's Q5. And a couple things to the Mitsubishi microvan they I also snagged at auction. This one has a 625cc turbo AWD with RHD because it came straight from Japan. I have several old cars. I know just enough about them to be a royal pain to many mechanics. My 2004 Focus with a manual transmission developed a severe shifting problem a couple of weeks ago while I was going to work. It felt to me like a shift linkage problem. It felt to the tow truck driver like a gear box problem. It sounded to a Firestone manager like for sure a clutch problem and he recommended a transmission shop in Escondido. I've spent so much money (and time) in the past 3 years on engines, cooling systems, steering, and transmissions, and have had a lot of trouble trusting the people doing all that expensive work. Eric was different. I got his company info when Yelp offered to send my quote request to others besides the transmission shop I had requested. He welcomed all of the detailed information I gave him about the problem, had well-articulated ideas about the possible causes and their relative likelihood, and seemed eager to work with me to troubleshoot. He has decades of experience repairing heavy equipment as well as cars and is also a welder, metal fabricator, and artist. He works mobile and has a fully stocked work truck. We arranged for him to come to my house a few days ago after I got home from work, to take a preliminary look at my Focus. He was very thorough and showed me everything he was doing. He had no trouble at all with removing the transmission mount in order to access the shifter cable ends, something I was not comfortable doing myself. He found that the mechanic who had replaced the clutch last year had not routed the hydraulic line to the slave cylinder correctly, and it was being abraded by movements of the shifter cables. Plus the spring-loaded boot of one of the shifter cables was all torn because of the rats nest of improperly routed conduit and tubes getting caught on it. I had seen it was torn, but didn't know why. And he found a bad bushing at the gear shift lever in the console, one that is a common problem in manual transmission Foci. And he found my gear oil and power steering fluid were low and topped them off, and pointed out several sources of oil leaks. As a temporary measure, he zip tied all of the stuff that was improperly resting on the shifter cables out of the way, then had me run the gears, and I test drove the car around the block. The shifter is still sloppy, and will be until we can get that bushing replaced, but I can now get the car in all 5 gears plus reverse, which I definitely could not do before. Eric was at my house for 2 1/2 hours and charged me a VERY reasonable fee, especially considering he had driven over an hour to get to me. Actually, including travel time and gas, he undercharged me for sure. We are currently sourcing parts for bushings (Ford doesn't sell them separately), the clutch hydraulic line, the torn boot, and a transmission mount, and after I get them, I'll have Eric back to install them. We're also trying to coordinate a good time for him to give my 2004 Toyota Sienna a thorough checkup before a planned cross-country trip. I've been very impressed with Eric's skills, knowledge, work ethic, and determination to do the right thing for his customers. I look forward to continuing to work with him. read more

Outstanding Mechanic - Honest, Thorough, and Professional Today, Eric came to my home early in the morning and worked on my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. I couldn't be more impressed with the quality of his work, attention to detail, and professionalism. Eric repaired a front valve cover leak by replacing the valve cover seal, replaced all six spark plugs, cleaned and replaced the PCV valve hose, replaced the rear engine strut mount/bracket and dogbone mount, and meticulously cleaned both the upper and lower intake areas. He also thoroughly cleaned all of the oil that had leaked into the lower front portion of the engine bay and around the valve cover area, leaving everything looking significantly better than before. What really stood out was how meticulous he was throughout the entire process. He double-checked that everything was properly installed and tightened to specification, took the time to photograph the parts he replaced, and made sure the work area was completely cleaned up before he left. Beyond being an excellent mechanic, Eric is truly one of the most honest people I have met. My son's truck needed a brake job (we thought) and Eric responded almost immediately with a possible quote for what we thought was wrong. He scheduled for the next day, he picked up the parts and was great at communicating. It turned out my son had some further issues which he diagnosed and was FULLY TRANSPARENT, sending pictures, videos, and copies of receipts for items purchased.
