I told Carlos it was a 2010 3.5L V6 Challenger, and immediately already knew what to do as he had owned one in the past. Personally I don't know too much about exhaust systems, but from what I have seen from his work, he had recommended wider diameter cats and pipes, FlowMaster Streetflows splitting into a dual exhaust system, and some new tips. He gave me a really reasonably quote, 750 for the whole thing flat, no taxes. Carlos was a kind guy, was very welcoming. He had an accommodating waiting room with a TV and leather seating, which was very comfortable. Also accommodating drinks and a Ryobi fan by my side. It was 95 degrees when I got there. We have a VW campervan and are adding a hitch to attach the Yakima EXO system with a storage box on the back of the van and we were worried the exhaust would burn/melt the storage box. Honestly I would recommend people to just save their money and go to a good muffler shop. The man at the shop didn't do a very good job with my muffler , he left one side completely unwelded not even tacked. Used cheap material, and didn't want to do anything I wanted because he had to cut and weld and in his own words said" it's a lot of work" keep in mind I was willing to pay. Brought him a a dual muffler again and he straight out told me no he can't do it . Honestly made me double think about keeping the car I have he made it sound like I was stuck lol thank god I took my car to a real muffler shop and got exactly what I wanted done for half the price. Ace made my 2006 Tundra sound and perform like a champ, so it was no question when I upgraded to my 2022 Tundra I returned to Ace for recommendations as Toyota dropped V8's and I now had to figure out how to make my new V6 sound it's best. I did my research prior to selecting a shop to replace my exceedingly old exhaust system and muffler. Carlos was prompt returning my call. Unlike other exhaust places in Kearny Mesa who told me they'd call back with a quote. 3 days later I am still waiting. After I told Carlos the type of vehicle I had, he quickly gave me a number of options, 2 1/2" or 3" pipe, choice of muffler etc. Then he gave me an estimated price. No need to make an appointment unless you want to be first in that day. When I got there the shop was much as I envisioned, a small nondescript place in the middle of the Barrio. Perfect! Definitely not a chain shop for sure. Carlos was there by himself, he quickly put my truck on the rack and inspected my exhaust system. He told me actually even though my exhaust system was very old, the pipes were still solid. I could save a good bit of money by only replacing the muffler. I elected to get the 3 1/2 system. Carlos even cut the quoted price by $75! After I agreed, Carlos told me it would take 45-60 mins. I asked about food places and one nearby was Barrio Dog one block over. Great lunch!
