When he didn't show up at the agreed on time, I messaged and later he said he was held up on a job which was far away (didn't bother to let me know he couldn't make our appointment) but he could be here in the afternoon. I said OK, but that's cutting it short because I had to leave in the late afternoon. He didn't bother to ask me my address until he was leaving that job, which I didn't see that text for a half hour. By then it was clear he wasn't going to make it by the time I had to leave, so I said let's make it for another day and asked what day worked for him. No response. I asked the next day if he wanted to reschedule, no response again. Guess you're too busy for me. Fine. I won't use you for this project or any other, nor recommend you to my neighbors, friends or family.

His communication with us was outstanding, and he was always responsive to our questions and requests. Having Callie on board as our designer was a game changer. She made the process very collaborative, taking great care to understand our vision for the space and to help us choose the perfect materials and features. Edward, the owner, stopped by several times to check progress and to ensure our satisfaction. Edward Dean Design & Build completed a pretty sizable remodel for us last Spring in our 1920s…read morehouse. Initially, we had LOFTY goals of a second story renovation and an ADU in the backyard. EDDB helped us with design and permits for everything, but in the end, we could only afford the first floor renovation, which involved taking some walls down, a TON of fresh electrical, brand new kitchen, new floors, retexturing of quite a few walls, and adding in some pretty arches. The guys all did a great job and Edward/Taylor were very kind/funny along the way. One thing we really appreciated is that they didn't give up on us when we continuously changed the scope of our project due to budget. We all worked together to figure out what we COULD accomplish. Hopefully when we win the lottery, we can finally have them finish all of our other permitted projects!

I had used Gilbert when I replaced a fence at my previous home and we engaged him again to replace…read morethe front gates and one side of our fence in June/July 2026. (The actual construction work only took a few days. There was a delay in the delivery of some of the hardware needed for him to finish the job.) Gilbert and his crew did an excellent job and were easy to work with, even adapting fluidly to some changes that we made after the process already was underway. The gates and the fencing were built in a board-on-board design that turned out to be even more attractive than we had anticipated it would be. The gates were particularly well fabricated both in their appearance and in the sturdiness of the metal support structure which should prevent the gate sag that so often occurs after a few years. Because of the thickness of the gate door (due to a design change that we requested) we needed to purchase special hardware for the handle and latch. Gilbert worked with us and the vendor to ensure that we purchased the handles with the correct specifications for the purpose. Throughout the entire process, Gilbert and his crew were friendly, helpful, and easily reachable when we had questions or concerns. We may have some additional fencing replacement done along the back of our property in the next year or two. If we decide to go ahead with that project, GC Fence is the first company that we we call for a quote.

No pressure and took his time explaining options to me and gave me a quote. Admittedly they are not inexpensive but it's a quality product. Not sure if our HOA will approve these modern gates so I didn't want to put them through coming out to our house. It's a nice showroom on Clairemont Mesa Blvd, conveniently located not too far off I-15. Easy parking out front. I'd highly recommend checking them out if you're in the market!
