Absolutely a bow WOW place to shop! Merry Christmas time for my daughters' pet pooches Sachi and Mochi! I wanted to bring something with a local flavor to the mainland for my daughters' pet pooches, Sachi and Mochi. One is big and the other is small lol. This is a great place! I found the most adorable dog toys for them. A small Lau Lau with a pink pig wrapped inside the luau leaves, a rice pot with rice balls and rice scoop hidden inside the pot! I also picked up a treat for the little one. I received a gift with purchase as well! A colorful peach ring! I had such a great ordering experience with Dis and Bark! The ladies who helped me were incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. I ordered a full matching set for my dog Scrappy, and it's adorable it came with a bag, a leash, a poop bag holder, a harness, and a collar. I also picked up a matching blanket in the cutest milk-and-Oreo design. On top of that, I grabbed some fresh treats for my pup and even a little gumball-machine toy. Everything was super cute, great quality, and the service made the experience even better! Stop by for some cute Hawaiian style dog toys. They are the cutest!

All for our besties... The comfort and joy that they bring it seems like this shop has certainly captured the vibe of pure joy and happiness as soon as you walk in and this SALT location is perfect for that as it does welcome everyone to share the space and environment. Located right beside 9 Bar you can't help it peek in on your walk by passing as the storefront alone makes you smile with all the local flava and favorites are found here and with the selection galore of toys and treats I did find a few things I couldn't resist as it's pure heaven to shop here but if you need to focus they do have some hair clips by Coop Monsters as well so take a moment to paws and give them a peek. Thank you!

I love dis and bark and so do my dogs, we get all their special treats from here! Woof is a game changer for getting them to chill with guests over! The owner and store manager is so sweet and they're very knowledgeable about what's best to give your dogs.

My dog loves the bin treats, toys & the workers there! His favorite toy is the cabbage that opens up. Also, everyone is always so happy to see the dogs there. Would recommend. 10/10.

Today was my first time visiting Dis and Bark, And it was such a wonderful experience as soon as I walked in, I was greeted with wonderful customer service. I explained that one of my cats is very picky and they recommend recommended lots of treats, and they even gave me samples! which was so thoughtful and I just love the energy that the staff provide provided. Definitely check this one out. I went to the location in Kaka' Ako!

Stumbled upon Dis and Bark as I walked around the SALT while I was waiting for my coffee and found this awesome shop. The toys were so cute so I had to buy one for my dog. Most of the toys are quite large but some of them open to reveal smaller dog toys, which technically would still be ideal for larger dogs. I think this shop would do excellent by making small toys for small dogs since there are so many small dogs on Hawai'i, especially in the Kakaako area, but I was so so happy with the monarch toy I bought for my medium-sized dog. I walked around the entire store a few times and can't recall seeing anything by for cats. Would love if they had some things for cats since I have a cat too and many people own cats. I would definitely go back again when I am back on Oahu.

Not your usual aquarium store layout with most tanks on one side of the store while accessories and food aisles dominate the square footage, but tank-maintenance, small pet, and reptile wise, they have a lil bit of everything you need. It's all there. I was looking for more aquatic plant additions, shrimp, and loaches for my tanks when the owner informed they get re-stock and new shipment every Tuesday. I ended up leaving with male guppies, Molly's, and some homemade beef jerky (which was 10/10 btw) that auntie at the register offered instead. Don't know anything about the "smell" mentioned in earlier reviews because there wasn't one, not even the pet store kind that's expected. On the subject of earlier reviews, as far as service goes - it was busy since it was a Saturday and no one was rude or unhelpful to us considering we came in a big group with teens and kids, an age range famously known for wandering around with zero spacial awareness for others. They could have been annoyed or impatient about that alone, but they were accommodating given the size of the store. One staff member entertained my kid-sister's questions and requests while simultaneously helping others and cleaning the tanks. An example for you. For being a local family owned business since the 80s, I don't think over-the-top service is necessary. But I have a soft spot for small local business owners, so what do I really know? They keep the community alive. It gives them their own character. I doubt a 3 or less star review would negatively impact these long standing businesses anyway. But that's because I live in reality. I'll be returning every other Tuesday after they've acclimated/quarantined the last weeks new shipments. The location beats having to go Kalihi or Town if you live in nearby neighborhoods. Love that.

I think it's a bit less species variety overall than maybe the fish shops in Kalihi and the aquarium concepts shop nearby in mapunapuna, but a bit more selection of fancy guppies at the same time. The big-brain flower horns, discus, some display tanks, and axolotls were a cool surprise. Some of the resident loaches were huge, especially the albino dojo near the front! Too bad I forgot to take a photo. That thing must be like a foot long and a decade old, and maybe as thick around as a portuguese sausage. Huge hump of fatty muscle along its back. I'd been wanting to check this place out! It definitely is a little cramped and cluttered looking inside and the smell is a little strong, but not too bad. There was a long-gone hollow goldfish staring at the sky, that gave me small-kine jump scare when I squat down to look at a tank. It was just randomly drying out at the bottom of a bucket in the aisles, which was, uh... anyways. I wanted to know more about an unlabeled and unpriced freshwater plant that somewhat resembles seaweed, so the buff dude grabbed a handful to show to the cashier lady at the front. The buff dude was attentive and personable throughout my visit, and did his best to answer questions about the fish, which I appreciated. The cashier lady though, she mumbled a name but I don't think she knew the plant that well and didn't write it down either. What she was somehow very sure about was the price, lol... just plainly stated the price for a clump is $7.99, though the tank of plants above it were organized in much neater clumps, and advertised at $5.99 each. Not only that, she had to step down from the cashier box to get her hands wet, and manually separate the handful of plant that the man grabbed. Started as a healthy, natural looking clump that would fit nicely in an 8 oz container, and she tore it in half. So, now it's small enough that it fits in the palm of your hand! Did she think to wash her hands first after handling cash and coins all morning? Nahh... But she was very insistent to him that he was definitely (and arbitrarily) holding two clumps, not one! She knew I wanted to buy it, and I'd already got a few pricier fish in my cart, so I guess she felt I could afford to cough up an extra few bucks. Yeah can, just don't think that I don't notice the grubbing... Business goes on as usual. I needed to get on with my errands that morning and eh, the shop has some local mom-and-pop vibes so I gave it a pass.

The manager then decided to "refer out" my dog due to them not having an emergency vet on site, according to their policy that they have had since Petco grooming became a thing. Although I understand the safety concern, my dog's health has not changed in the past three years We have been making him monthly appointments. now all of a sudden, every manager and service worker in that Petco is concerned? So you're telling me for the past three years all your groomers have been out of policy? If this was missed for three years in a row , What else have your groomers done that has been outside of policy? I'm not only hurt because my dog is older & picky with his service people and never gave the groomers any trouble, but I'm also worried for the other animals out there that visit this location because who knows what else these people are sweeping under the rug or cherry picking what becomes in and out of policy. at my dogs elderly age, I just want him to be comfortable and serviced correctly. Petco was asking for a letter from the vet to say that he has no underlying conditions that would affect the service of trimming, his nails. A letter from a veterinarian ? To tell a groomer that an old dog's legs are weak, and he can't jump up on a table ? A letter from a veterinarian ????????????????????? comfortability at an elderly age. that's all I want. This Petco location made it seem like that was way too much to ask for, even though I have evidence of three years worth of grooming confirmation text messages. I hate that you blamed my dog for being old and aged. I hate that in his old age you're making him meet new groomers and learn a new routine. And I hate that the evidence of his age no longer made him a candidate to be comfortable in your establishment anymore. me and my family will never step foot in another Petco on this island or off this island again. Please do better by the animals you serve in the community that you're in. Or, don't and keep wondering why youre getting one star reviews‍
