Calvin & Susie mainly caters to dogs and cats while they do have a very small assortment for bunnies, unfortunately not the ones our bunnies like. With that out of the way, Calvin & Susie has a huge selection of raw, dry and canned food for your four legged family member, well like I said, dog and cats family members. They carry brands such as Primal, The Bones & Co. Steve's Real Food, Small Batch, just to name a few. Our fur child is an orange cat and yes we named him Garfield. I know, so unoriginal but it fits him as he is one finicky cat. He drives us crazy with the different variety of foods he eats and then grows tired and stops eating them. We asked what food were really popular and they even gave us some samples for him to try. Two of the samples, Garfield went crazy and ate it all up like he was starving or something. Thankfully he eats them to this day. Unfortunately he has stopped eating the other food we buy from there. Who knows, maybe one day he will crave the old food again. Some of the things we like about coming to Calvin & Susie besides their awesome staff is free parking and there are lots of stalls unlike some places you have to hunt down parking or the stalls are so small (don't like door dings). Another reason we like coming here is that the store is always clean. Calvin & Susie is a very clean almost sterile (like a hospital) feel, which is kind of amazing considering how many pets that must come by. It is very well lit and has a lot of room. I was greeted quickly by the staff, tho no one came to ask me if I needed anything or what not. I came around 4ish and there was lots of open parking stalls. I mainly came here because they are one of two places that carry tuckers frozen raw food which is what i've been feeding my dog. Tho I might change food brands. idk, it would be nice if they chatted me up a little. They do take your name and email for membership/tracking. I get my dog food, harnesses, teeth care, cbd oils, skin tropicals, and might try some supplements as my dogs are getting older with things like joint pain etc. Once in a while I'll splurge and try out a local dog treat. Cbd oil seems to be helping! Products are quality so prices reflect that but can't we agree that we would so anything for our fur babies as they are our family members?? Keep going and take a left on Kihei Pl which is the last left turn you can make before going under the H-1. I love that this store keeps your pet profiles and past orders on record. I come here to pick up food for my Swan's "ladies" and never remember the brand or name of the food other than the snacks they love "Chicki Jerky" which is exactly what it sounds like, all natural chicken meat made into jerky that your dogs will absolutely fall in love with if you let them try it C&S has great nutritional and healthy food for small through large pets, old through young alike. They also have nice accessories for your furry companions. With things going the way they are (pandemic) I always feel comfortable going in the store as they make sure everybody uses sanitizer upon entering, and when times get harder they have strict limitations with how many customers they allow in their shop at a time. Be prepared to pay boutiwue prices for quality snacks, Honest Kitchen Mussels 2oz $14 and Vital Essentials freeze dried rabbit ears 6pieces, $12.50. The shop is well stocked, clean and reliable, however, each time my Corgi and I visit, the feeling isn't welcoming. To compare to neighboring urban pet suppliers in Honolulu, I've never experienced any Calvin & Susie staff offering personal thoughts on any products, new happenings or services/products etc. Until I came to write my review for Calvin & Susie, I had no idea they offered dental cleaning of any sort! With an in-store customer profile program, where they sort of keep track of the products each customer buys, I would think following up with those purchases, whether reoccurring or not, would be beneficial to improving their service. We came here lookin for healthier dog food about a month ago. Sigh... wifey made me watch an unnerving documentary about what goes into the dog foods you see in big box stores. Needless to say this place (Ethan in particular) helped ease our fears. This place is in the Kilohana Square strip mall. The same place where One Stop Pet Grooming was (totally miss Amy... she was the best groomer ever). Anyways, it's diagonal across the street to where that health center is at the top of Kapahulu Ave. Parking is a plenty since they have their own parking lot. You need to go down the side street to get to the entrance tho. Can't remember the street name, but when you see Calvin & Susie's on the corner... make that right! The entrance to the parking is on the left. C&S has so many different things for all kinds of animals. From snacks to food, leashes to clothes, toys to chews, and so on. They carry the higher quality versions and local brands of everything. I am always roaming around the entire store just checking out what new stuff they have. They even have doggie shoes... for walkin around; booties... for hiking; socks... for in the house. There's clothes for almost every occasion. Ok, back to what we first came for... healthier food for our 3 babies. Here's where Ethan came in to save us from our minds being blown away from the selection. He asked us several questions and helped narrow down to a hand full of selections. We ended up getting a dried food selection that wifey used with her boys years back. She was more familiar and comfortable with it cause all you had to do was rehydrate it with water and add your protein (raw or cooked). We also found out that you can add eggs for added protein so you don't have to use a lot of meat. Can also use coconut oil to help with their digestive/skin issues. Another good thing about the brand we selected is that there's the frequent buyer program from the manufacturer. I forget how much you have to buy, but the last one you get for free. You just need to buy one of them previously and you can get it for free. This place is a wee bit pricy, but you figure it's a small specialty store and not like the huge box stores that buy in bulk. The stuff they have here are quality and they make sure to do their research before they bring it in to sell. Wifey and I think the price and the knowledge they have of the products are worth it. I love coming here. The staff is always friendly and always so helpful. My dogs Harry and Mojo love visiting because they always offer a treat. I love the Ruffwear brand and they carry a lot of their stuff. They also carry RedDingo brand which I like. I like the cute boutique style store. Every winter they have these little dog bone shaped treats in blueberry, which my doggie love. I can't remember the brand but it comes in Apple and another flavor. I can't find these treats anywhere else but Calvin and Susie's. I love going there and the staff is always so friendly and personable. read more

Okay, we love Petco, buuuuut I love this place too! I drove pass it a few times, then when my boyfriend and I were walking one day we decided to stop and check it out. I'm so glad we did! Parking: You can park in the back. The parking lot is a bit small, but it's also not a busy place - it's like a tiny shopping center with a shoe store, a salon, etc. You shouldn't have any problems finding parking. Store: Its an alright size. They have pet food, leashes, collars, toys, soaps, shampoos, wipes and lots of treats there! It's a convenient place for my boyfriend and I as well. Customer Service: GREAT! From the very first day we stepped in that store, all the staff have been very wonderful. They are super helpful and super nice. They give out treats to your furrbabies too! The first time we were there, we didnt have Tootsie with us (our furrbaby). The lady that was working that day was so awesome because she gave us a bunch of samples for Tootsie to try to see what she liked. Since then, we only buy her dog food from here. The plus side to that is if we buy 12 bags of dog food (we buy the brand Fromm), we get the 13th bag free! I love that their hours during the weekdays are til 7pm. Anyone who's watched the Netflix documentary "Pet Fooled" - it's about the unregulated pet food industry - will understand why we started pursuing alternative diet options for our critters. We consulted our vet first and then I did a bunch of online research but we still weren't able to setting on a new plan. Raw food from a distributor, homemade cooked food, the options are overwhelming as are the potential repercussions and responsibilities of diet planning for someone totally dependent on you for their wellbeing. What we really wanted was someone to talk to who knew more about dog foods than we did. I remembered seeing Calvin & Susie from when I used to take my boys to One Stop Pet Grooming (I'm still in mourning that Amy had to retire due to health issues) so we stopped by on Saturday for a looksee. It's a very nice place. Located in Kilohana Square, the parking is tight but it's available and in Kapahulu that's always a plus. When you walk in you see some very trendy pet carriers, clothing, leashes and harnesses. They carry an array of snacks and foods produced by smaller, independent companies (some local and some mainland) that focus on quality rather than quantity. They have a couple of freezers for their frozen, raw food options as well as an entire section dedicated to pet food. My FPO and I were wading through the various dog food brochures and ingredient lists when we were approached by Ethan. Ethan was very engaging. He was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He's not a dietician or nutritionist just someone who has worked at Calvin & Susie long enough to be very familiar with their products and to have heard feedback from dozens of clients on what worked for them and what didn't. With his advice we selected our first alternative dog food. We'd been leaning towards raw but decided instead to try one a little less daunting. It contains dehydrated vegetables, fruits, and nuts. You add water and the protein of your choice (cooked or raw). I was familiar with other foods from this same company from years ago with my boys. Ethan also told us about a frequent buyer program that this company offers as well so if we all like it and continue on long enough we'll get a free bag (after we buy 12). Keeping It Classy For The Dogs I came here to find some H.O.T shoes... for my dog. So, I found the shoes and I thought they were the cutest things I have ever seen and they were just what I was looking for, Doggie Vibrams! Yesterday I started my Christmas shopping, and 1st on my list was my buddy - Makana! I was told from my doggie park friends about this pet store called - Calvin & Susie in Kapahulu. The cute little pet store is located just next door from the Territorial Savings Bank (Kapahulu Branch). As I walked in, the two ladies instantly greeted me right away. Why was I here at Calvin & Susie's you say? Well, I was basically here to get this special ball. My boy Makana is just 'KRAZEEEEEE" about balls! What's so special about this ball? This particular ball has a light in it, so when we go to the park in the evenings, you can turn on the light in the ball so Makana can see where I am throwing it. Also, it's a good way to find your ball in the dark............at $14.00 for this particular ball, you definitely do not want to lose it...........it gets very expensive when you lose your toys. They didn't have this particular ball on their shelf, but when I asked them, one of the nice ladies dug though her new delivery stock, and opened up her boxes to retrieve on for me. They have an array of colors - red, green, disco (multi-colored), & blue. I ended up picking the blue........... This little pet store sells all kinds of things besides toys..........they sell food, dishes, collars, leashes, greeting cards, doggie goggles, clothes, and many other things............ My first impression of Calvin and Susie was of how clean and organized the store was! It is easy for a pet store to be cluttered and kind of stinky but C and S is definitely comparable to a boutique type atmosphere. The first time I was in here, the customer service was just okay. I wasn't welcomed into the store or really acknowledged but to their credit they were busy that morning. The second time I came in though, several people welcomed me, Koa was given a treat and they asked questions I appreciated! (After all, what pet owner doesn't love talking about their pet?!) I bought some organic treats both times. Koa needs to eat low-preservative foods because he has a sensitive stomach and has had seizures before. They have a GREAT selection of healthy treats. I would recommend the "healthy bones" with quinoa and any of the ones that are "Zuke's" brand. The prices are a little higher than some other stores on island but I also like shopping local so I am willing to pay the extra! I also got a reasonably priced nail clipper for Koa. They carry a wide variety of things from foods to accessories. They also have a wide variety of organic and natural foods. Unfortunately, the brand Koa eats is not carried there because it is not 100% natural. I am thinking though about changing brands and I think that Calvin and Susie will be a place I would go way more often when I make that decision! read more

This is the best pet boutique I've been to on the island. I cannot rave about this place enough. I found them on Yelp (duh) when I was looking for a place to get some doggles. My mother has been looking for doggie sunglasses for our dog for quite some time, and has found some, but all in sizes too big to fit on our Pomeranian. Since this was the only pet boutique that had reviews that even *mentioned* doggles, I gave them a call. Over the phone, they were the friendliest and most eager to help kind of people I'd ever had to deal with on the phone. The lady confirmed my request at their having doggles in a small size (what we needed) and then went on to describe the different types that they had in stock and informed me of the price (which was cheaper than I expected). I was sold. We immediately hopped into the car to head out there. Even when we got there, they were all super helpful and friendly.
