Look no further for pet food or to raise your very own adorable pets with Kalihi Pet Center.

Kalihi Pet Center is a locally owned pet store. We came here for the koi fish food. They sell it in smaller bags than where we normally buy it from. I guess this is good too so their food remains fresh. The store is a bit tight for many customers visiting all at once but they have a good selection for any pets including fishes, dogs, cats, turtles and birds. There were no staffs in the front when we walked in but definitely had lots of customers. Some looked happy just looking at the dogs waiting to be taken home. I wish I can have one too but I can't afford their price. I guess not anytime soon ;) They are open everyday. Monday to Friday beginning at 9:00 am till 7:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. What amazes me is that the store is kept cleaned even if they have pets! Whether is the fish tanks or the dogs cages. This is a plus! Whether you're shopping for a pet or pet foods, Kalihi Pet Center is the place to be! Thank you for reading my review. Have a great week!

Excellent staff, so friendly, very knowledgeable. They are helpful, we got our lovebird from here. They will do nail and wing clipping services if your pet bird is from them. Excellent local business to support!

Stopped by Kalihi Pet center today looking for a plastic cone collar for my friends dog. My friend said his dog been scratching and his fur is all coming out . He thought this collar might work . Well I asked an associate if they had such I thing I think he didn't know what I was talking about . He said they only carry flea collar or walking harness collar for dogs . Kalihi Pets is located in the City Square shopping center next door to Chuck and Cheese. Support local

Shopping for pet supplies in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend is taking care of her daughter's cat... but still wants to buy treats for the cat... even though it's not her cat! LOL! She's very nice... Since we were at City Square on Dillingham Boulevard, I thought we should just go inside the shop. We already had free parking... may as well look, right? I had never been inside Kalihi Pet Center... even though there are four dogs at my mom's house. I just buy treats and toys at Ross. If I needed something specific, I would come here because: 1. the staff are helpful and friendly 2. the environment is organized and clean 3. there are many merchandise choices 4. City Square is conveniently located Also - if you're looking for a pet, I did see puppies, birds of various types, and all kinds of fish! I didn't see any bunnies, but maybe that's a good thing! P.S. my friend did find treats for her daughter's cat!

They sell a plethora of live animals here. They sell everything from fishes, turtles, birds, reptiles to puppies. They also have everything that you would need for your pet such as clothes, toys, food and medicine. I came here to get a catfish $7.99. I needed a bottom feeder to eat all the leftover food on the bottom of my tank. I found the fish I wanted. I motioned for one of the workers to help me. He scooped up one of the catfishes, pumped air into the bag and walked me to the checkout. Before I picked out my fish, I took a look at the puppies. They have the cutest puppies. I saw one that I seriously wanted. It was gray with blue eyes. It was a mix of Yorkshire Terrier and Pomeranian for $3499. The price was a little high for a dog that's not pure breed. I still would have bought it except for the fact that I need someone to walk him every morning and night to pick up the poop. That's my one deterrent. I asked the hubby if he would do it and he gave me the side eye, lol.

Pop's goldfishes had gone to goldfish heaven, and the worst part about all of this is those goldfishes he had purchased from another pet store in Kahala, he just had purchased them like two or three months ago. Aiyah! Pops was missing his goldfish, so he was badgering me to pick up more goldfish. I didn't want to go back to the pet store in Kahala, so the other night when I was having dinner with my homie in Mililani, I decided to stop by the Pet Hale only to find out that the business was no longer there (insert Sad Panda face). My 2nd stop was to check out the Mililani Walmart, only to find out Walmart no longer sells fish too. My homie - Gary T. then mentions to me about a pet store in Kalihi, and that is how I ended up at the Kalihi Pet Center. Where is the Kalihi Pet Center located? You can find this cool pet store at the City Square Shopping center, the same complex where Sugoi's, Kamehameha Bakery, & Pancakes and Waffle BLD is located. A cool pet store that sells a ton of pet supplies, fish, doggies, chinchillas, birds, & alot of other stuff I probably missed. Lol! Service here was friendly & very helpful! I found the goldfish that my pops wanted, and decided to buy eight of them, that way the goldfishes won't be lonely in the pond. Lol!

Yesterday.. when I walked into the store, I was met with the nicest sale person Alan. I went specifically to this pet store for a red male canary. Alan took me to view the birds and to pick out a cage, find the bird food and helped with the sales process.. and then to carry everything out to the car. This morning he is singing.. I am so grateful for the fast expertise assistance. Thank You Very Much!

Came in here to buy crickets for my Jackson chameleon. $4 for 20. There is so much pet supplies in this place. I can't imagine you would need to go anywhere else. It is jammed pack with all your pet will ever need. Friendly service too. If I'm in the area again I would come back. I wasn't a huge fan of all the birds and Guinea pigs in their tiny cages.

Not your usual aquarium store layout with most tanks on one side of the store while accessories and food aisles dominate the square footage, but tank-maintenance, small pet, and reptile wise, they have a lil bit of everything you need. It's all there. I was looking for more aquatic plant additions, shrimp, and loaches for my tanks when the owner informed they get re-stock and new shipment every Tuesday. I ended up leaving with male guppies, Molly's, and some homemade beef jerky (which was 10/10 btw) that auntie at the register offered instead. Don't know anything about the "smell" mentioned in earlier reviews because there wasn't one, not even the pet store kind that's expected. On the subject of earlier reviews, as far as service goes - it was busy since it was a Saturday and no one was rude or unhelpful to us considering we came in a big group with teens and kids, an age range famously known for wandering around with zero spacial awareness for others. They could have been annoyed or impatient about that alone, but they were accommodating given the size of the store. One staff member entertained my kid-sister's questions and requests while simultaneously helping others and cleaning the tanks. An example for you. For being a local family owned business since the 80s, I don't think over-the-top service is necessary. But I have a soft spot for small local business owners, so what do I really know? They keep the community alive. It gives them their own character. I doubt a 3 or less star review would negatively impact these long standing businesses anyway. But that's because I live in reality. I'll be returning every other Tuesday after they've acclimated/quarantined the last weeks new shipments. The location beats having to go Kalihi or Town if you live in nearby neighborhoods. Love that.

I think it's a bit less species variety overall than maybe the fish shops in Kalihi and the aquarium concepts shop nearby in mapunapuna, but a bit more selection of fancy guppies at the same time. The big-brain flower horns, discus, some display tanks, and axolotls were a cool surprise. Some of the resident loaches were huge, especially the albino dojo near the front! Too bad I forgot to take a photo. That thing must be like a foot long and a decade old, and maybe as thick around as a portuguese sausage. Huge hump of fatty muscle along its back. I'd been wanting to check this place out! It definitely is a little cramped and cluttered looking inside and the smell is a little strong, but not too bad. There was a long-gone hollow goldfish staring at the sky, that gave me small-kine jump scare when I squat down to look at a tank. It was just randomly drying out at the bottom of a bucket in the aisles, which was, uh... anyways. I wanted to know more about an unlabeled and unpriced freshwater plant that somewhat resembles seaweed, so the buff dude grabbed a handful to show to the cashier lady at the front. The buff dude was attentive and personable throughout my visit, and did his best to answer questions about the fish, which I appreciated. The cashier lady though, she mumbled a name but I don't think she knew the plant that well and didn't write it down either. What she was somehow very sure about was the price, lol... just plainly stated the price for a clump is $7.99, though the tank of plants above it were organized in much neater clumps, and advertised at $5.99 each. Not only that, she had to step down from the cashier box to get her hands wet, and manually separate the handful of plant that the man grabbed. Started as a healthy, natural looking clump that would fit nicely in an 8 oz container, and she tore it in half. So, now it's small enough that it fits in the palm of your hand! Did she think to wash her hands first after handling cash and coins all morning? Nahh... But she was very insistent to him that he was definitely (and arbitrarily) holding two clumps, not one! She knew I wanted to buy it, and I'd already got a few pricier fish in my cart, so I guess she felt I could afford to cough up an extra few bucks. Yeah can, just don't think that I don't notice the grubbing... Business goes on as usual. I needed to get on with my errands that morning and eh, the shop has some local mom-and-pop vibes so I gave it a pass.

I purchased a harness and leash at the Pearlridge location, but they didn't fit my dog. At checkout, I chose the e-receipt option, thinking it would make returns easier. When I went to the Kakaako location to return the items, I was told they couldn't accept an e-receipt and that I needed the printed receipt instead. That was frustrating, but I went home, found the paper receipt, and came back a week later. Then I was told I still couldn't return the items because they had been purchased at the Pearlridge store. The employee explained that returning them at the Kakaako store would affect their inventory, so I had to drive back to Pearlridge instead. This makes absolutely no freaking sense. If you're one company with multiple locations, customers shouldn't have to jump through hoops over internal inventory issues. Having to make multiple trips because of inconsistent and inflexible return policies is not good customer service. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my opinion of the store. I hope management takes a closer look at their return policy and empowers employees to make the process more customer-friendly. Its a cute shop but will not shop here again.

The manager then decided to "refer out" my dog due to them not having an emergency vet on site, according to their policy that they have had since Petco grooming became a thing. Although I understand the safety concern, my dog's health has not changed in the past three years We have been making him monthly appointments. now all of a sudden, every manager and service worker in that Petco is concerned? So you're telling me for the past three years all your groomers have been out of policy? If this was missed for three years in a row , What else have your groomers done that has been outside of policy? I'm not only hurt because my dog is older & picky with his service people and never gave the groomers any trouble, but I'm also worried for the other animals out there that visit this location because who knows what else these people are sweeping under the rug or cherry picking what becomes in and out of policy. at my dogs elderly age, I just want him to be comfortable and serviced correctly. Petco was asking for a letter from the vet to say that he has no underlying conditions that would affect the service of trimming, his nails. A letter from a veterinarian ? To tell a groomer that an old dog's legs are weak, and he can't jump up on a table ? A letter from a veterinarian ????????????????????? comfortability at an elderly age. that's all I want. This Petco location made it seem like that was way too much to ask for, even though I have evidence of three years worth of grooming confirmation text messages. I hate that you blamed my dog for being old and aged. I hate that in his old age you're making him meet new groomers and learn a new routine. And I hate that the evidence of his age no longer made him a candidate to be comfortable in your establishment anymore. me and my family will never step foot in another Petco on this island or off this island again. Please do better by the animals you serve in the community that you're in. Or, don't and keep wondering why youre getting one star reviews‍
