I haven't been to Disc Replay in years. I decided to take some of my old video games and game system there. One thing I noticed is that the customer service can be vastly improved. When I came up to the counter, one of the employees didn't acknowledge me and just went in the back. That's one full star taken off for poor customer service. Just to let future customers know, they don't take everything. They only bought some of my games and left my 360 and some controllers. They used to buy everything even if you don't get a lot back. I didn't accept the store credit, even though you get more than cash back. I read that some of the used items don't work and I didn't want to take a chance. Altogether, my experience is about a 2.5. read more

This is not just CD's. Many vintage items, collectibles, games, vinyl new and old too. I was looking for something rather specific, and I did find that and a lot more. This is the type of music/game store that you need to visit regularly because you never know what you'll find. This is true regardless if you're looking for something specific or not. As I was taking it all in, I was greeted by a friendly associate who was able to quickly answer my question and point me in the right direction. I'll surely be back soon. This is not the only Disc Replay but it is definitely on my list of must stops because of such a collection of collectibles. I like finding a needle in a haystack, even if I don't find that needle the search is often just as fun. read more

Although I showed up for some old games, I was pleasantly surprised at the vinyl selection here. The punk section was incredibly small and lacking but the metal section - huuuuuge! Blows most other metal record sections out of the water, even all the big stores in the city. Someone who works here likes metal and it shows. Both a great selection of newer stuff and old metal too. Definitely check it out if you're a fan. Games section is big, and has some great JRPG funds stocked - think old Suikoden 1, 3,4, and some other rarer stuff. Decent Xbox/ps2 selection (and newer gens) and a medium ps1/Dreamcast/nes selection. Has some old gamegear stuff and other oddities too. Fun to browse. Overall I think the games selection in Naperville location is slightly larger and the prices at this location are higher too, but there's also a bunch of other stuff here at this location like toys, mtg/Pokémon, warhammer, and rpg books. The ambiance of this store is everything. It feels how a retro media store should. But, even though I consider myself a metalhead/rock lover, I could barely think over the loud metal music. It made me want to leave. Overall a great selection... definitely some gems to be found for a great price. but on the otherhand, in all my years of collecting, I've rarely seen the prices as pretentious as they were overall. Games beaten up, in repro cases with printed out labels going for extreme amounts of money. I feel like this store is almost taking advantage of nearly every good title on a console because they know it is to be desired. some of the employees were NOT very nice or even accommodating, and to be honest I never make these kinds of remarks but my experience wasn't that good. I managed to get a couple decent deals but overall I don't think I feel compelled to return. read more

I am in this store frequently with a family member and we always get treated fairly. One time we purchased something that didn't work and were able to exchange / return it right away. (i think they offer store credit for returns.) My only complaint is the carpeting is noticeably dirty every single time we visit and doesn't ever seem to get vacuumed or cleaned. Just a friendly suggestion to the owners to try to vacuum occasionally. read more

This is about a half a mile from Yorktown and I stopped in here a few times during this past holiday season - there is something for everyone in here from tons of used cds (great selection, and very orderly in alphabetical order) to new/used vinyl (large metal section for vinyl, too) to old video game systems (nostalgic seeing old Atari's and Nintendo stuff!) to tons of dvds, posters, Star Wars and general other action figures to many more odds and ends. A pretty big store with a wide selection of movies, video games, CDs, toys & memorabilia, posters, and more. I focus more on movies when I come here. A wide range of blu-rays on the right wall, small section of 4K-UHD movies, small section of Criterion movies (DVD & blu-ray), and some Arrow Films movies. The prices for the blu-rays here are a bit more pricey compared to the Naperville & Joliet locations I've noticed, but all blu-rays seem to be in good shape in terms of packaging and discs. Staff is friendly, store is easily maneuverable, and moderately packed on weekends or holidays. It's right next to a Best Buy so if you find a movie more expensive there then you can probably just walk on over to Disc Replay for a cheaper price hahaha read more

I bought a PlayStation 3 controller from here and they say they test their stuff...that's a huge lie!!! As soon as I got home I connected it to my ps3 and everything was fine up until anything hits the controller, then it just presses every button on the controller without you doing anything and is spasms until you hit it enough for it to stop. I go back to the store to tell them that it is broken and the only thing they were willing to do was give me a 10 dollar coupon that had an expiration for next month! It's great to know that if you spend 40 dollars on a "tested" item they won't care if it's broken or not. Don't buy controllers from here, to be honest you're better off just not shopping here at all. read more

Even though they rejected over half my old music (it must lack marketability), I walked out w/ $32( which ultimately did cover lunch, by the way). After calling around to all sorts of places asking if they did disc resurfacing, a nice guy picked up the phone at this Disc Replay and told me I could bring in my malfunctioning GameCube disc and they could look at it and tell me what my options were. I brought it in and that is exactly what they did. The people working there are friendly, knowledgeable, and they seem to enjoy what they do, which is rare to find nowadays. I really appreciate them for fixing my disc and saving me a bunch of cash. I will recommend this place to all my friends 100%. read more

Cool finds at decent prices, they also carry old Nintendo and Atari game systems, current movies at almost half the price of other retailers. They have a good collection in stock of various dvds, cds, games and posters. Customer service is not so good which this is their downside. read more

Me and my friend came in today with a couple boxes looking to receive a quote. They said they would take a look at it and just to give them about 30-45 minutes for them to figure out they're offers. So we browsed the shelf's and waited. When they called us up to the desk the store was pretty busy so we offered to wait a little longer so they could help the other customers. Once the rush came down a bit we resumed speaking with them about certain items we wanted to keep and sell to them. My friend was finishing up with the worker when another man from the back came up front and said "we are done here, you guys are wasting our time, we are running a business here!" I was Shocked at the way he was speaking to me and my friend, considering he wasn't even apart of the exchange. The other workers even gave a look due to his tone. We felt speechless my friend was offered a quote 30 seconds prior to his actions. Disc replay specifically advertises working with customers like us who bring in the items they advertise. We were offered the quote and our exchange was near over. I want to make clear how incredibly confused and disrespected I felt. I am writing this hoping the guy who acted like this can be identified. And disciplinary action is taken. Disc replay is a good company for him to misrepresent you guys is sad to me and I hope someone within the company will take action to make sure he cannot treat customers like this again. I want to stress how nice the other workers were, they were patient with us and spoke to us with respect. I do not have a name for this man but he was tall and had a beard. read more

There really aren't that many used game stores near our area but I'm glad disc replay is one of them (and probably the main one). They carry anything from video games ranging from SNES to the Switch and have fair store credit deals. They also stock a lot of vinyl (especially metal) and now Magic: The Gathering cards. Overall a 5/5 and 10/10 store, amazing selection, solid location and fair prices for sale and trade-ins. read more

Worst experience ever. Brought in my Dvd and blue ray collection two hours before close. The guy at the counter was nice and brought them back to be examined. The people back there instantly started to complain. Im selling these b.c im leaving for the army in a few weeks and they knew this. After five minutes they came back and said that they have too many of every movie I was trying to sell. I had over 100 movies. It took them 5 minutes? Ingnore this place if you want better deals on movies go down the road to the used book store they wont rip you off like these guys do. wish I could give o star. Now THIS is what I call a Disc Replay! Few things light up my boyfriend's face more than a good disc replay. He gets all excited at the shear thought of them and swear, even if he were on his dying bed, he'd be up for a trip to Disc Replay. This location has a great selection and great prices to match on both CDs and DVDs. They also have video games and systems but that's not really my thing so I couldn't judge the prices. This location is right next door to a giant Best Buy and I would confidently say that if you aren't looking for a brand new CD, your best bet is here. They always have everything I'm looking for and more, and at prices as low as $3.99. Yup, that's right- I got a perfectly good Wallflowers CD here for only $3.99. And they sometimes have deals like buy 3 get the 4th free or half off. Score! read more

Discovered this place a couple of years ago after Disc-Go- Round in North Riverside closed down and just love it. Probably there at least once or twice a month perusing their pretty large selection of used DVDs. The average price for a DVD is $5.00 and they also carry TV show boxed sets and collector editions at pretty good prices as well(you can also sell your old DVD/CDs/Video games). Not sure how good the prices or selection are for CDs or video games compared to say Gamestop or some of the bigger CD shops downtown. But for DVDs this the place to go... The thing keeps me coming back is not only the prices or selection but if your looking for a DVD and they don't have it they can put it on reserve and they'll give you a call if/when it comes in, and they will hold it for about a week if you can't make it over there right away. Much better than constantly calling or going over there hoping that a copy showed up. Only thing that I'm leery about is that in addition from buying from people who walk in off the street to sell their DVDs they seem to buy a lot of overstock from Blockbusters or Mom and Pop video places that have gone out of business. Those video chain DVDs sometimes don't have the same goodies included (ie deleted scenes, making of the movie, commentary etc.) on the DVD compared to if you it bought new. I've also heard from friends who have purchased DVDs from there that when they got home they discovered that it had scratches on them or for some reason didn't play right, so make sure you inspect the DVD before you leave. They seem to be cool about issues like that and while they don't give refunds you can swap it for another copy or get store credit. Yes it's a crap shoot when you buy used but I've never had any issues with any of the DVDs I've bought from there. The staff has always been friendly and everytime I'm there their always cranking out some great tunes to boot! So next time your ready to buy that DVD from the Best Buy next door or Fry's down the street do yourself and your wallet a favor and check this place out first. read more

They're also really helpful and really take the time to answer any asinine questions and other bullshit I may be slinging their way. Their prices are very reasonable and they test each disc before purchasing them from the original user. This is also a great place to sell used games, cds and dvds. However, this is a Disc Replay location I usually call to ask about titles, instead of visiting.
