These guys must be able to read my mind, because I always find everything I'm looking for whenever i come here when it wasnt there before. The staff is friendly, the house music is straight off my playlist, and the selections are great. I tell every single one of my friends to go here for their records, cause chances are they got what you need or you'll find something even better. I miss the days of digging through bins and buying something I've never heard of based on the album artwork alone, and this place scratches that itch for me. The metal selection specifically is of a completely different breed than any of the other disc replays around, and because of that this place has become my go-to record store. Why fight city traffic, deal with city folk, and pay city prices, when your friendly neighborhood disc replay has everything you need and then some? Located in Finley Square Mall in Downers Grove, just a hop, skip and a jump from 355 and not too far from Yorktown Mall, this is one of the better Disc Replay's in Chicagoland. This particular Disc Replay is often far better on prices than some of the others in the area, has a great music selection and a solid video game section. In case you've never visited a Disc Replay store before I'll go over the basics on how this particular chain of retailers operate and then comment on the specifics of this particular location afterwards. In general Disc Replay's are where people buy, sell and trade in their old DVDs, Blu-Rays, CDs, and various video games of many different platforms. The big advantage of shopping here compared to at a store that only sells new products is that your chances are far greater here of finding out of print and hard to find Video games, CDs and movies. Often times just saving on shipping means there's an advantage to buying here compared to online as well. Even if what you're looking for isn't hard to find, the fact that the items here are used and can often (though far from always) be found quite a bit cheaper than they were when they were new is a big bonus. Simply put, if you're a nerd like me there's a certain joy in browsing around for games you've always wanted to play, movies you've always wanted to see and CDs you've wanted to listen to, can be an exciting endeavor and the key factor in what has fueled the popularity of this particular chain of secondhand shops in Chicagoland. What makes this Disc Replay better than most of them is the prices. A lot of the other Disc Replays have wild pricing, and while occasionally I'll see overpriced items here, on the whole the pricing is generally very reasonable. This goes for video games, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and game console accessories. Overall I'd recommend this particular location for shopping (I don't ever trade things in, so I can't comment on how their trade in prices are). Staff was rude, place was dirty, they were more concerned talking to each other about things I do not care to hear about instead of asking if we needed any help, really made us feel like we didn't belong in there. Disappointing service. Limited inventory with approx. 20% of the shelves empty. Example: while you're shopping you get to listen to bad comments (she's an idiot) by the employees that stay behind the counter. They don't walk beyond the counter and if they did they would know their voices can be heard through out the store. Plus they don't offer much in deals like buy 5 get 6th free like the store on Rte 59 across from the Fox Valley shopping center. And to make matters worse the younger bald guy took offense when I asked about a deal. I left without buying the 6 cds I brought to the counter. Seriously one of the best used records stores I've ever been in. Living in various areas of the Chicago Suburbs for the last ten years, I've been surprised by how difficult is it to find a good used record store. Then, a little over a year ago I discovered this place. I'm still amazed at how great the selection is here. Here's a list of a few CDs I've picked up here in the last week or so: Drifting in Silence -- Lifesounds ($2.99) The Autumns -- The Angel Pool ($2.99) Aphex Twin -- Drukgs ($2.99) Buckminster Fuzeboard -- Funny Noises ($2.99) Winterlight -- Hope Dies Last ($4.99) And the list goes on. . . If you don't recognize most of those names, that is largely the point for me. I'm really into ambient, electronic, shoe-gaze, and other sorts of dreamy music, and usually the only place I can get the stuff I like is through the internet. Finding stuff like this in an actual record store, especially in the suburbs, is almost unheard of, yet this place is has it in spades. On top of the amazing selection, as you can see above, the prices are unbeatable, they have a listening station where you can preview before you buy, and they let you put items on hold for up to a week. If you love music, either popular or more obscure, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. read more

Probably the second best of all Disc Replays I've been to in regards to selection of DVDs . They also seem to have a lower price than the location in Schaumburg. The store had a major renovation and has doubled in size, so if you haven't been there in a while, now is the time to go back. I used to go there primarily for Cd's but now that DVDs have taken over as the main reason going there, I'm way more impressed. read more

I use to love going to this place, but after today I will not. Recently, whenever I have brought items in to sell, there is always this one female employee that is very rude and disrespectful. Today when I brought in stuff to sell, someone else was originally going to look through it, but then she decided to do it. I didn't mind too much that she was going to do it, but after ten minutes, she offered a dollar for one dvd. That dvd cost more than that. I got my items and left. I use to love going to this disc replay, but every since that worker started there, it has been less enjoyable to go there. Also when walking around the store, I saw one single disc dvd being sold for $40 and it wasn't a tv series dvd. What's up with that?!? I refuse to go back there and in the future, would either donate or sell online. It's a shame, because this store use to be cool to go to. read more

This establishment used to be top notch for what it is - a resale shop paying a fair price for used merchandise, and a fair price for sales of used DVD's, CD's, games, etc. No more. The experience at Disc Replay is more in line with the only store around in a desert ghost town. Be careful when waking the staff from a dead slumber... Forget professionalism or customer service. The employees here are still trying to get the putrid taste of moldy dust bowls out of thier mouths. I called to confirm the store was open and I could sell my DVD's and CD's. I thought they had 1 day where all sales were store credit only, but I wasn't sure, and there was nothing stated on the stores website. I spoke to a gentleman who told me they could take care of my buy and to come on in. When I arrived, the store was relatively empty. One male employee was lazing behind the desk, the other, proceeded with the persona of bad attitude all around. First, he tells me there are no cash buys on Tuesday's. No explanation, no apology. He shrugs his shoulders when I ask why I wasn't told that when I called an hour earlier to confirm they were available for buys today. That's about all he's able to commit to, and heck, what does he care if the store loses business? He'll still get his paycheck for standing around behind a counter being obnoxious and unprofessional. Coming from Chicago to the store, I asked if I could leave the box at the store until the next day - Wednesday. The deadpan employees response: "No, m'am, we're not a storage facility." No sorry you were misinformed by us; no, we can't keep your DVD's and CD's for free if you fail to return to the store. Nothing but a bad attitude. Business owners wonder why so many go belly up? This place is a toss up. The newer dvd's, games and cds can usually be found cheaper at walmart/target etc plus they are not used as well. They usually offer $1 for older cd's and dvd's and I've gotten as much as $5 per cd and DVD. Personally, this is not necessarily my type of place. I 'd rather be browsing for things on amazon and other venues than disc replay. If you really don't have much to do with old cd's dvd's and games (plus i'd rather go to gamestop beforehand) then disc replay might be decent. Their selection varies with stores. Staff seemed averaged most of the time. Wish they had thing on their website which would allow you to search what movies the location has and the trade in values for items that way I could save a trip and see if it's worth it for me. read more

Unfortunately anything good I have to say about the store is overshadowed by the horrible female employee who always seems as though she is PMSing. I've been in here many times and will leave whenever I see she is working. Even when she is not working directly with me, she seems to find it necessary to add her rude comments into other conversations. If I were the owner, I would fire her, she is bringing down your sales with her constant negativity!!! The store itself and SOME of the other staff are good, a decent selection, but not one that changes very often. Need to rotate merchandise more often. This place is good for picking up some games and CDs, or even an old system or iPod. I've sold and bought things here, and they give you better prices than Gamestop. CD's are usually $5 and under (they have a great selection), and the prices of DVDs and games vary. Come check out this store before you buy a game system or MP3 player on eBay, they may have a better price. Their stuff is also guaranteed to work. I really like this place. I don't come in very often but when I do It's never really been a bad experience. They of course have used dvd's and cd's and video games of basically every gaming console. They have a wide variety of everything. And also they sell anime. They even sell Funko's and if you don't know what they are-search it up cause they are awesome and I'm a big collector of those. Also if you want to sell either your dvd's, cd's, games or game consoles, digital cameras they will take them. But to warn you they might not take them all cause they might be overstocked. And don't expect to be paid an enormous amount for your stuff either. They don't greet you when you walk in though but they were really nice but that was my experience. And they were very helpful. This place is located in a very good spot where there is a Panera a couple stores down or other restaurants across the street. There is also Yorktown Mall right down the street and many other places you can possibly think of are here. You can't get better than this place and it's kind of a one of a kind. read more

I mean i have a mixed review on this place. They don't take some Cd's and Dvd's and the ones they take are like at a $1 range. Also, their prices are actually sometimes higher than a sale price on walmart and the fact is that these items are already opened and not new. They also have electronics like gaming consoles but then again I wouldn't buy a used console regardless. Selection is huge but I just don't feel like it's that well organized plus I wish I could look up titles and prices online and save me a trip to the store. At any rate I will still stop by once in a blue moon because I'm just too lazy to have a garage sale and I will usually get few bucks for lunch or whatever. read more

Their service here is good. Let me put it like this, if you are a gamer like myself and the people who work here then you will enjoy talking to them. My issues I have to say is just simply pricing can be a little high here, the store just has the vibe of being messy which can honestly just do with how they organize their product or even maybe redo the whole inside, and their quanity of certain items. If there was an option for no stars I'd definitely do it. We always thought disc replay was decent, not great but fine. After today, we definitely won't be going back. First off, the employees here don't know a damn thing about customer service. I witnessed a customer receiving snarky comments from, what looked like, the manager about his system he was selling. That rubbed me the wrong way off the bat. What really set us off as that we came in to sell 5 perfectly good ps3 games. After 15 minutes, the guy says he won't be taking any of them considering a couple had scratches and he can't get them out. um WHAT? We left, not even in the mood to deal with them and looked at the games in the car. THEY WERE IN PERFECTLY GOOD CONDITION. One had maybe a small hairline scratch. Nothing to make a big deal about. GameStop took our games, hassle-free. Needless to say, we're done with this place for good. They should relax with the obnoxious radio ads if they're not even willing to buy anything. read more

Yeah so. I was in there with my son and as he was being helped another customer walks in and asks the guy behind the counter who was helping us a question about something that was in one of the display cases. He leaves us to go and help the other customer and leaves my son just standing there waiting for almost a 1/2 hr before another employee helps him. Very poor customer service and will not be going back because of that. Besides they wouldn't even more then half the stuff he brings in. read more

Bought a Pink Floyd LP album. Made the mistake of not looking at it. Got home, scratched in many places. Went to the Countryside store a few weeks later. Saw a Police record that I wanted. Mentioned the story to the counter guy. "same guy owns both stores", he might do something for you. Stopped back at Downers about a month later. Mind you, never once complained there about the piece of crap they sold me earlier. Saw Pink Floyd The Wall. The record that I was looking for when I bought the other album a month sooner. Looked both records over and looks sweet. Walked up, and asked this pink haired woman if she can do anything about the price. She works at one terminal for about two minutes, and says "not working". She takes the records into a different room for about three minutes, comes back and says "No, sorry, it's a good price for what it costs on Ebay." A little frustrated about her wasting five minutes and not even offering me $2.50 off a $30 used record, I tell her what happened the month before. Did.. not... give... a... crap. Asked her if she would give me the $2.99 Billy Squier record free at least if I bought the Wall. "I can give it to you for .99 cents." So instead of both for $30 and closing the deal, she wanted $31. You are really going places hun. LMFAO. read more

I think Rosalie is way off base. I always go to Disc replay before i go anywhere else for Dvd's. Their prices are always lower than anywhere else and if you cant find something just come back next time and they might have it. OR... if you know what you want you can ask them to call you when they get it in. I wanted Jazz by Ken Burns set and when they got it in they called me and held it for 3 days. I have always been a fan of this store, and have always had great experiences with the employees ( i have bought and sold dvds), except for the last time I went there. I walked in with my husband and two year old because we were looking for a Shrek movie. I asked the female employee there who was putting stuff away in the kids section if they had it and she said no, so we continued to look through the kids stuff. When she saw this she shoved the dvds she was putting away on the shelf really dramatically (I guess we were in her way looking at the merchandise)? and walked away in a huff. We picked out a dvd and I went up to pay with my son. He's a good kid, and if he moves stuff on the shelf we put it back, but he is still two. He started to run behind the counter and as I sad to him "Stop, don't go back there," she says "um, do you want to get him?" in a patronizing tone. Literally just as I said "stop," and was going to grab him. It just rubbed me the wrong way, she just assumed I was some lazy parent who would let her kid do anything. Also, if you're so annoyed having children in the store, have a sign or DON"T SELL KIDS STUFF. Or you could just let this employee know that acting rude to customers isn't kosher. read more
