Prices are fair. Music selection is pretty good. We used them several years in a row for a company outing. DJ was highly communicative and arrived on time. I would recommend Disco Royale. Will use them again next year. read more

Update: I see that Kevin of Disco Royale has given his feedback and sadly, it's personal. This is a business relationship and he made it personal. That is not being professional. All my claims about what I wanted and what I told him can be backed up by emails. I repeatedly told him that this was the music I chose to be played. If he didn't want to play the exact music, he just had to say so and we would have parted ways. Instead, he said yes and took my money. The bottom line is that you pay a DJ hundreds of dollars (sometimes thousands) and you should get the songs you ask for. Kevin is not being truthful about what he played because I have my list and there are 15 songs missing. When we last communicated on the list, he did not say he couldn't play all of it. (As well, there is nothing in the contract that says I can't ask for adjustments.) Making fun of someone's music selections is not cool. Nor is saying, "this isn't dance music" when someone chooses a country swing song (which yes, people danced to). So beware if you want any country songs played. I have my playlist - it was on every single table so that my guests could see my notations on why I chose certain songs. It was upsetting to see that list not followed. As for "Don't Stop Believing," I was upset because 1) it wasn't on my playlist and 2) I do like the song but I believe it is overplayed. I think, for my money, I'm allowed to say no to a song. "She's left comments on my facebook page, and even went on twitter, soliciting everyone she knows to join in her hatred for myself and my company." I don't hate Kevin; I'm unhappy with his services. This is 2018 and yes, you can go on social media and let people know that. I didn't "solicit" anyone; I gave my opinion. As for people liking Kevin's work, my coordinator and a couple of guests said, "What's up with the DJ?" I had no answer. Kevin is not a bad DJ but apparently has an ego about it. I wish I had realized that sooner. This was a birthday party but what if it had been a wedding reception? You can't redo that. Lastly, I DID have a great party but it was in spite of Disco Royale's DJ, not because of it. end of update. I hired Kevin for a big birthday for me. I curated the playlist based on times in my life and even had that list on each table with notations to help my guests know why I chose certain songs. Kevin never said that I could not create the entire playlist nor that he would change it at his will. Kevin and I went back and forth on the list; my initial one was way too long. He did push back against some songs but I had reasons I wanted them and left them in. I did follow his advice and cut songs and co-joined songs. He had the final list days before the event and indicated he was ready. He never told me that he could not co-join songs. Frankly, I believe now that he just decided HE would decide what he would play and when and that's pretty much what he did. He left out about 15 songs. Songs that meant something to me and songs I picked to tell a story. He played songs - include one that I don't like at all - that I did not ask for. I had to ask him - twice - to stop playing a song he had started that he picked. Did he segue out of the song to another one that actually was on the list? Nope, twice he let the room go silent and then put on another song. That is really unprofessional on his part and it embarrassed me. I was the client who paid him a good sum of money to play music that I had chosen. He knew this from the start and, if he didn't want to do that, could have refused the job. He bought a gobo for the floor and then tried to give it to me as a present. Weird. So while I had a great party, I was saddened that I done all this work only to have some of it ignored by Kevin. So I would say hire Disco Royale if you don't care what music gets played. If you do, then you might go elsewhere because Kevin will ignore your requests, both written and verbal. And a party/reception is no time to have to worry about a DJ who is all ego. read more

Kevin and Lorie did a wonderful job with our wedding in August of 2018. They worked with us to build a wonderful playlist with a few surprises sprinkled in along the way. Our guests were delighted to hear everything from classic songs to the latest pop and everything in between. As challenging as it was Kevin was able to make it flow in a manner that all our guests thoroughly enjoyed. He also was quite the entertainer as he had 100+ people roaring with laughter while we played the "shoe game". Lastly, they just started up with using a photo booth. We were happy to have this option as it helped us consolidate vendors and build a very memorable guest book full of silly pictures of friends and family. Kevin did a great job at our wedding last weekend as our DJ. From the beginning he has been professional and has listened to our requests while offering great suggestions. On the day of the wedding Kevin also helped make things smoothly by being a great emcee (also helped us by asking questions we either didn't think of or forgot about prior to the wedding), and was on top of any last minute requests and schedule changes. Towards the end of the night Kevin was having some serious competition with the beautiful weather at our outdoor venue but he reeled people back in with the music. I'm so happy our wedding ended with a dance party. To add, regarding the negative review on the page, Kevin's prices are extremely reasonable and competitive with other DJs I researched while wedding planning. Kevin has always been nothing but professional, flexible and accommodating, and even mixed tracks to get the perfect music for special songs. We hired Kevin at Disco Royale to DJ our wedding. He did a GREAT job of taking conversations with my (now) husband and I and turning that into a perfect soundtrack for the evening. He hit it out of the park! He had great suggestions and guidance to help us think about all of the specific songs we needed to pick and did not play ONE song we didn't love. Few days later fully reneged on performing services and price. Passing us onto someone else which he said may or may not be available. This review is long overdue, but I can't let Kevin down any longer. He slayed for us back in May 2015 on Whidbey Island. Long story short, Kevin is very reasonably priced, and unreasonably skilled. LOCK HIM DOWN FOR YOUR BIG DAY. My then-fiancee and I have divergent music tastes, but Kevin saw beyond our specific requests and totally understood what kind of sound we wanted. Everything he played was a crowd-pleaser, perfectly apropos, from outdoor reception to post-last-dance wind-down. Kevin was also extremely professional, and low-maintenance. He hit all his cues as MC, without us needing to manage him day-of. He knew the gameplan ahead of time because he'd given us simple forms to fill out ahead of time. Kevin from Disco Royale was great! My husband and I are both full time students and so we were trying to do our wedding on a budget, Kevin worked with our budget and gave us a great deal. He did above and beyond in helping to make our day perfect. He even edited our favorite songs so that we could use them in our ceremony to make it even more personal. Our wedding was intimate and casual, but Kevin put all his efforts in and helped make it a day we will never forget. Since our wedding was non-traditional there were a lot of things we wanted done differently, Kevin took everything we wanted and the outcome was perfect, we couldn't have asked for better. Kevin was the perfect wedding dj. He was easy to work with and everything went off without a hitch. He was very accommodating in meeting with us at venue beforehand to get a feel for where everything would be located. He mic'd up myself and the officiant so we could be heard from the back. He accommodated two different setups: 1 for the ceremony, 1 for the reception area. He emceed the speeches, dances, cake cutting, etc. One of the main things we were looking for in a dj was someone who could beatmatch and mix dance music for the reception. We gave him a playlist of songs to show him what style we were looking for and then let him run with it. We couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. Kevin at Disco Royale was absolutely everything we could have asked for in a DJ for our wedding night! We found him through our photographer, who recommended Kevin as a vendor he had worked well with previously. My husband and I were on a tight budget for our wedding and the DJ was one of the last vendors we booked - and if you are planning a wedding you know that a budget can get out of hand quickly. We contemplated not evening having a DJ and letting a friend run a Spotify playlist for the night but decided to reach out to Kevin and a few other DJ's recommended by our photographer to see if any of them would be willing to work with our budget. Kevin was the only one who came back willing to work with us yet he provided everything we could have asked for and more! He was an excellent emcee and kept the night flowing smoothly - something our friend running the Spotify on an iphone would not have been able to do. We met with Kevin before the wedding and explained our vision for the evening and the music we liked. Kevin was very knowledgeable about music and genres and his worksheet that he provided us was quite extensive, allowing him to better understand our style. My husband and I both felt comfortable allowing him to use his knowledge and experience to select music that would keep the party going while staying true to our music tastes. Kevin brought his wife to help who was so friendly and personable. Our wedding guests commented throughout the night how friendly they were and even thought they might be family! We really cannot say enough good things about Kevin, he was professional throughout the whole process and really saved our wedding by allowing us to us a professional to run the sound and emcee the evening. Kevin was incredibly nice, professional, and flexible. My husband and I were planning our wedding remotely, and Kevin was very flexible in agreeing to have Skype meetings instead of face-to-face meetings when we couldn't make it to Seattle, and he was full of great feedback and experience that helped make our day perfect. In fact, our very first discussion was over Skype, and Kevin was so easy to talk to, we hit it off right away. We used Disco Royale for DJ services and lighting, and Kevin also created a customized gobo for us which was absolutely STUNNING (and matched the font on our wedding invitations!!!!) and really transformed the reception space. He was very communicative throughout the music selection and other planning processes and I received great feedback from our guests about how nice and fun he was during our wedding reception. The music he picked was perfect throughout the evening and it helped get people on to the dance floor and stay out there! He also helped emcee our reception, which was a huge help in ensuring our guests didn't miss anything. We recently used Disco Royale for our wedding ceremony and reception. Kevin did an AWESOME job! He was easy to work with and very flexible (we had some last minute music choices for the ceremony). Everything went very smoothly. I was worried about the sound and of course the microphone crackling or cutting out ( I have witnessed this at numerous wedding I have been to) but we didn't have any of those problems =) He had the speakers set up in the best position so everyone could hear the speeches (Our wedding was at The Canal, which has a very interesting layout for sound). He is very professional and great when it comes to talking to large groups of people. We had numerous guest mention how great our DJ was and that they loved the music selection. I didn't get to hear to much of the music since we went to take pictures, but from what I did hear during dinner I loved it. I would highly recommend Kevin to any bride and groom.
