The people here could not be nicer or more accommodating. I bought a shower head and after installing it the pressure button did not work so I went back to see if I could see a set of directions from another box as I had thrown mine out. The nice guy who is there often insisted I just take a new one. as there was nothing in the directions referring to the pressure button. I argued a bit but he insisted and this one works great!! We have had really good luck at this place and only reason not 5 star is the inconvenience factor. But then that is why the prices are so low. It is a fun place to browse you never know what you will find. One time we found stacks of range top vents, . They helped me search all the inventory to find a stainless steel 60 inch one I could use for my kitchen remodel. It was sealed box and I wanted to inspect it. Not a problem. I was told 30 day return policy if I discovered later something wrong during installation. It is in my kitchen now, looks and works great. Retails $450-$480 range and I got it for $89. Never have had any issues with customer service? Another time my sister came home with a Schwin adult tricycle, (we looked it up on line at Target and on Amazon and it retails close to $500) I think she paid $140. We had to have it assembled but all the parts were there! There is also a lot of junk, I think boxes of stuff come in every day. Remember they stock discontinued items, open box returns, left over inventory, etc. This is not a place to go if you are looking for a specific thing in a specific color..... it's a "browse around you may find something you can use" kind of place. Yes, open box items can be missing a part... so you do need to check. One time all we found were some oversized heavy duty insulated shopping bags with zipper closure. I got one, $2.00 I think. Still use it to this day for perishable grocery items. (Should have gotten two!). So if your in or near Sebastopol it is worthwhile stop. read more

The first time I shopped here the owner (Troy) told me to feel free to ask if a bit could be knocked off the prices. He said all their prices are flexible. But then if you do ask, he gets really annoyed, sometimes yelling his objections. Sometimes he will accept a lower offer, but will tell you "no return" I once bought a portable carport canopy from him. I had been on my way to Harbor Freight to buy one and thought I'd check what Discount Alley had. Well they had one for $300. Harbor Freight's was $250. I asked if they would match the price. Troy got annoyed, made me show him the ad, reluctantly gave in saying "no return". The canopy was crap, the cover fit so badly that huge puddles of water collected in the roof and bent the flimsy frame. I repaired it and reinforced it several times, but it just kept holding more water than it could carry without bending. I replaced it with the Harbor Freight version, much better quality. You can find an occasional good deal here, but keep in mind that whatever it is it has been rejected and returned already by someone, it is likely missing parts, no factory warranty, plus you have to put up with Troy's annoyance. Is he angry at the customers that bring him money? Maybe he is mad at his beautiful wife or awesome kids or his tenants that pay his mortgage or he is mad that his big house isn't big enough? From where I stand it doesn't look like he has much to be mad about (his family must feel severely unappreciated and hurt) Whatever it is, I really don't need it. I won't shop there any more. Troy needs to treat his customers with respect and realize that whatever his trivial little reason for not doing that will cost him customers. Plus he might run into someone like me who is trying to hold back real anger with a real reason, like cancer taking my wife and everything I had. Or "friends" who did nothing as my dying wife and I were evicted... So Troy, what ARE you angry about? Your inability to control your anger is why you have so few customers. read more

If you don't know where or what this place is, you'll drive right by it. It's on a curve on Highway 116 and it's behind several other businesses. There is ample parking. You'll find some awesome deals on items that were returned to places like Home Depot and Amazon. You never know what they might have in stock at a given time. I will definitely be back. read more

Love this place. I have been going there for close to 20 years. Its the first place I go when looking for big ticket items such as TVs Computers, and audio equipment. They have the same stuff being offered at the big chain stores for MUCH LESS. Granted you do need to check out your products before leaving the store. May of their items are open box. I have gotten a bad item or two over the years but its always been a easy exchange or refund if they didnt have another one. Every time I go they have different products from tools, home stuff, groceries, TVs, Audio, clothing, dog food, cleaning supplies, and the list goes on and on. If your looking for a fancy greeting or designer show room this isnt what you will get. What you do get is GREAT products at STUPID LOW PRICES. read more

I tried to return an item. I was informed the only way to return an item was through the owner who would be at work on Saturday. I stated that I had to work on Saturday could I have the number to phone him. She gave me his card. I first tried several times to phone the business number and not use his personal cell (out of courtesy). After phoning 3 times with no answer and no message option I texted his cell given to me by his staff. He replied to "Not, bother him on his personal cell" (fyi that was on his BUSINESS CARD) "on his day off "(his staff stated he would be at work Saturday). I sent an apology text. I saw a post of a play kitchen on Facebook craigslist so I called to ensure that they had it before driving all the way out to Sebastopol. The person I talked to (the owner I believe) said they had several play kitchen left and come on out. This was around closing so I told her I'd come out the next day. I got there right when the store opened and look through every single box and every corner of the store with the help of the employee (the owners son I think). There was no play kitchen there. I had already told my three-year-old son I was getting this because the lady told me it was there. Before you make the trek all the way out there, you may want to rethink if the discount is worth it. I have single handedly furnished like 80% of our house with this place!! Troy and his family are absolutely great and they always are super helpful. I think the people who have anything bad to say about this place are probably pretentious and wouldn't know a good deal if it bit them in the butt. But hey, that means more deals for the rest of us. He even gives you 30 days to return defective items, that's a better policy than some stores. I love this place. I've spent thousands here over the years. I've always gotten a good (and sometimes great!) deal. Most products are priced way below retail. If a price seems off, I let them know and it was fixed promptly and politely. Many Costco items do show up here, as do things from Amazon. You never know what you will find at Discount Alley. I think of it as a treasure hunt. My favorite find was a Bissell Steam Cleaner for $99, it was $279 at Costco. I bought it right after moving in to my new home. It was raining. Some items are reasonably discounted returns from costco. People are led to believe that because "discount" is in the name of the business that all items are discounted to some degree when compared to other local retailers offering the same products. Today I found a huge display marked as a super sale- Roundup weed killer, 1.33 gallon ready to spray bottle, $28. Identical item at home depot- $16.88(regular price). About once every 2 months I find deals on big ticket items that are so extraordinary that they are shocking. Consequently I cruise by there every week to check out their wares. The best is when you find the exact item you were looking for online or at a big box store for tremendous discount. For example, today I found the Weber grill I was eyeing online for $80 (normally $150 at Amazon)! Plus the guys that the run the place are always friendly and willing to strike a deal. Another example is finding a Brio play table for $50 down from $185. I could even find one of these tables for less than $100 used on Craigslist or EBay! Don't go there expecting to find deals on everyday items, think of it more like a yard sale with revolving stock that includes premier brand items. Scope the place out and if there's nothing for you that week, come back again 1-2 weeks later. You will find a killer deal after a short time. read more

I have been a customer here for almost ten years! Even though I live 40 miles away, it is always worth the drive. I have bought items from laundry soap to dog food to baby clothes to furniture to vacuum cleaners to kitchen appliances to TVs and other electronics. I especially like their room dedicated to gifts and items you could give to your friend or family member for a birthday or holiday. I'm recently divorced and bought everything for a new kitchen at Discount Alley (pots, pans, cooking utensils, cups, cheese graters, silverware, cutting boards, magic bullet, plates). I would have spent several hundreds of dollars elsewhere. I think their prices are more than fair! And the owners/workers are always willing to help when I ask for it (and when I don't). Last time when I was there, the gentleman at the counter helped me carry my bags to the car. As an aside, I know the owners as they are active in our community. They give generously of their time and strive to make our town a better place for our children. This Place is a Gold mine! I'm a local Carpenter and after discovering this place a few months ago, it has become my favorite place to shop. Half of my Milwaukee and dewalt tools I own because of Troy and his family. Most of the tools are either brand new or used once or twice. I myself love to repair tools so if there is something missing a piece or has a broken part Troy will likely give you a great deal. I just bought a brand new Milwaukee roto hammerdrill that needs a $10 part replaced and troy let me have it for $40! I was surprised to see they didn't have as much as I've heard about from friends but it was my first visit and I was able to pick up a lot of stuff I didn't know I even needed or wanted til I saw the prices. this week happened to be bare essentials make up, Essie nail polishes for $2. tons of random stuff from pens to office chairs,tank tops, gardening tools. i was told their shipments are sporadic and they're never sure when they'll get a shipment in so its a hit or miss I guess. the guys working were awesome, definitely mellow skaters with great attitudes and happy to help us. read more

This little gem is a step back in time. The people who benefit the most from shopping here are those who know quality. An informed shopper will find quality merchandise well below retail prices. You never pay for advertising, display or expensive overhead. But if you have a list of needs, and make this a regular stop, you will be amazed at how quickly that list is filled. I have been a fan of Discount Alley for many years. You need to be a smart shopper because the merchant does not have the time to open every box and check out every feature. You wouldn't get the deep discount if that expense was added in. DA has a posted return policy but you are better off checking out your intended purchase. That said, you'll never meet more honest merchants than the owners Troy and Nicolle. DA had for a while lost their Costco connection but have recently resumed with that vendor and the store is fully stocked. Give DA a try and save some serious cash. The customer service has taken a nosedive, some of the employees are really nice, but if you don't have a big ticket purchase they (the owner) doesn't have time for you and your silly questions about how much an item is, or if the price isn't on the items he'll tell you in a condescending tone, they can't sell it...fine then take a moment to look through your inventory to make sure things are priced to sell. I drive 30 miles out to this store because I used to get excited to see what they have, now I Will no longer be shopping there, and am going to stop suggesting to people to go there. The quality of stuff there is lower than it used to be and most is overpriced, dusty, or just not even worth selling! It's seems like this store is going under anyway, I've seen it so many times when store owners stop putting their customers as a priority and treat them like there money is no good, customers Will stop coming...So sad, good customer service can go a long way...think about it!!! In this time period I have purchased many TV's, tools, plumbing fixtures, office chairs, ice chests, vacuum packers, floor mats, several food items, quality dog food, drill bits, stereo speakers, Pelican boxes (50% less than Amazon), TV mounts, paper shredders, wire shelving, barbecues, patio furniture, wood working clamps, bed comforters, pillows, sleeping bags, 2 Shark Vacuum cleaners (The Best!), truck air bags, flashlights, LED bulbs, tuna, canned foods, plastic bags, kitchen knives, cleaning supplies, VHS players, DVD players, cordless phones and the list goes on. I have NEVER had any problems with their items or their staff!!! I have purchased 2 Cannon all in one- printer scanner fax , out of the box for $20 that retailed for several hundred dollars and have been using them now for the past 3 years. Currently I purchased a NEW Samsung 50" Smart TV that was 40+percent less than Costco. One of the great features of Discount Alley is you never know what you are going to find. Now I am at the point that I wait and go to Discount Alley before I go to big box stores because it all shows up there eventually. If you feel that prices are to high ask someone and maybe they will accommodate you (I've tried that at a large building material chain, obviously with NO success). I stop in once a week and see whats new in stock and visit with the kind staff. I like to save money, purchase quality stuff and spend it with someone who is a member of our community (not a 2.5M dollar per year CEO in New Yuk) that will stand behind what they sell.
