I love how they let me use my holsters without charging me an extra fee or going through mandatory training like other shooting ranges. The price to rent a shooting lane is very affordable. Today, I accidentally left my gun case with one of my handguns on one of the countertops. I frantically called the shop because I noticed that the case wasn't in my trunk when I got back to my hotel. Frank picked up the phone and was extremely helpful. He spoke to me professionally and was able to locate my gun case. They held it for me until the end of the day, and I was able to retrieve it. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and even though I'm not a gun expert by any means, it seemed like they had plenty of options to choose from. Came here to complete my Firearm Safety Certificate. I scheduled an appointment ahead of time. I arrived as scheduled and was called to ensure I could get right in as I came at opening time and there was a line. I was greeted by Colton who walked me through the steps and checked my ID and I paid. I took the test and passed and he helped me with next steps on a few other questions. I was in and out quickly. I came here with plenty time to check in for a lane. We were informed there was a lane open for the last hour, not reserved so we paid for it. And then suddenly after the payment went through, "oH wErE sOrRy, tHaT LaNe iS rEsErVeD." SO, they said we could get a refund. APPARENTLY, they cannot to refunds back to credit/ debit cards directly. The only 2 choices they offer is store credit or receive a check in the mail. I'm obviously not returning, especially if we're not from here, so we took to mailing option. There was ANOTHER issue regarding that matter so it gave us no choice but to get the store credit and buy something right then and there. This is very inefficient for customers especially when employees don't have an upkeep of when their lanes are reserved. Very disappointing for this being my first time here. Also, the store was fairly empty so there was no wait to get to the counter, but we were there waiting for an hour just to get things settled. Great time using this indoor range. Pricing is great, easy to sign up, waiver process online, easy to check in. They have many different target sheets, gun rental (used my own), hearing pro, eye pro, and ammo. The only con was the wait at arrival. For the range, no one said "next" or offered to help. I went up to someone while he was with a customer to ask about check in for my reservation and he told me you just need to get in there and grab someone. So, that's what I did. There was no set line. I came to DGM to learn the responsibilities of gun ownership and to get my Firearm Safety Certificate. Instead, in a willful attempt to suppress my second amendment rights, I was discriminated against, had my time wasted, and was told by 'Frank' that I was too young and could not be assisted due to California law. I am a 19-year-old pre-law student and assumed the person was just ignorant to the law, or assumed that I was ignorant to the law and didn't have a reason to get an FSC. So I showed them the law, as amended in June 2025. They still refused me service. I asked them if they were refusing me service on the basis of company policy/personal discretion or the law. They persisted, fabricating law to prevent me from exercising my rights: "the DoJ won't let us submit the FSC electronically," "it's never worked" -- in reality, the FSC is just a piece of paper, so their excuse about the bureaucratic failures of the DoJ and the harshness of California law were blatantly lies. I told them repeatedly that I would not care I was refused service on company policy and would just shop somewhere else, but that fabricating law is disrespectful. Eventually, it became clear to them that I was documenting and gathering evidence to pursue an Unruh Civil Rights Act lawsuit for arbitrary discrimination. So, they backtracked, and the general manager Joshua let me take the FSC exam. But, as us 2A-exercisers know, freedoms are not to be granted by liberal autocrats, but only to be taken through pressure and demand. The only reason California has strict gun laws is because Black and Chicano activists in the 1960s used them to protect their rights. If I let this malpractice slide just because their damage control resulted in the desired effect, then I would not be holding them accountable for the violation of my rights, poor customer service, and wasting an hour of my time. Overall, a terrible experience. Avoid this store if you care about your Second Amendment and Civil rights. It's a great establishment with a solid stack of employees that are reliable and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately since the services and staff are so helpful it's a busy hub for firearms enthusiasts. The selection is fairly good, a couple rare pieces though they excel at having a great range for the average joe or plinker. Compared to certain firearms stores in the area or even a bit further away D.G.M has a phenomenal price range from low end to decked out staccatos. I'm writing because I'm somewhat dismayed by the less than favorable reviews. While I readily concede I know nothing about each of the fact situations, it's apparent from the manner in which some complaints are expressed they're likely not reasonable. Further, it's human nature to complain rather than make the effort to express satisfaction when appropriate. This past March one such unhappy camper wrote, "There is no sense of urgency. None. Their pace is pedantic." Perhaps what is meant is ponderous or plodding, but certainly not pedantic. Also, why should there be "a sense of urgency"? What I'm getting at is that it's easy to "badmouth" when doing so anonymously. I've been a customer of this location since 2019. DGM San Diego is my ONLY go to store. Prices are competitive and actually the same or cheaper than items found on online sellers. I've purchased multiple weapons, scopes, RMR's, add-ons, bags, ammo and of course range time but to me what stands out is THE KNOWLEDGE, professionalism, and courtesy received by the staff. I would like to give a special shout-out to Jacob and Ray who both are incredibly experienced in weapons weapon mounts and fitment they go beyond being just firearms Salesman. I came back here for more target practice and it was great. They have different range distances (3,5,7,10) that you can set your target at via buttons on their targeting display which you get for your lane. I would suggest doubling up on hearing protection (foam plugs + muffs), especially i n the rifle ranges. The staff are great and everyone (staff and customers) seem cool.
