Since 2008, I have rented from Discount Storage. First, RV storage then a small rental storage unit. I paid my storage bill from my bank's bill payment system three days before the due date. I also had a credit on my account. I closed out my storage 4 days before the end of the month. I asked about a refund of prepaid money. They said they don't refund any prepaid money. I received a Move Out receipt showing they kept my credit plus a full months rental fee. Beware of Discount Storage business practices. read more

Terrible! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS BUSINESS. They kept losing the check from my bank (sent through auto-pay). I've been using autopay at USAA for 20+ years and this is only the second business I've encountered that the payment didn't go smoothly. They claim the post office is losing the checks, but the first time they found it. The second time they charged me $37 to get access to my belongings to move out. I overlooked the dilapidated condition of the units because they were inexpensive and I needed something short term, but it is an unsecure dump. read more

When I was looking around for a storage unit in the O Fallon area I was a bit shocked at how much these things cost a month as I have never rented one before. Through all my searching, these guys seemed to be the cheapest, which is exactly what I was looking for. Plus, throw in a discount they are having on their smaller climate controlled units and they were by far the cheapest place in the area. Sounds great right? It was for the most part. Only a few things that I wasn't particularly fond of with these guys. No light in your storage unit, now I've never rented one but I have been in several and any that have been inside a building always had lights in them. So bring a flashlight. The second thing was the unit I ended up going with, a 10x10, had a huge metal beam going through it that caused a bit of issues when moving stuff into the unit.. The third thing was the first unit I looked at, an 8x10, was on the first floor and walking through the hallway to get to it I could not stand up straight. Now granted, at 6'9" I'm taller than the average bear so it probably won't be an issue for normal sized people, but if you have taller stuff you want to put in there it could pose a problem. This place really causes me to hate being tall as there were several places that I could not stand up straight. Which can cause some potential health hazards when you are moving heavy objects as I tend to be preoccupied with not dropping the object instead of watching out for low hanging objects with which to bash my head on. However, regardless of all that, theses guys were a good deal cheaper than other places I found so I can't complain too much. read more

I never leave reviews but everyone should know before they store their belongings at this "business" that they are extremely negligent. Their roof is coming apart leading to the deterioration of the building and large leaks. As you enter the "climate controlled/dehumidified" building entrance, you can see the wood in the building deteriorating due to extreme negligence. It was their responsibility to take care of their roof and any up keeping needed for their property, yet many tenants have had terrible water damage to their belongings. Inspection of the rental units is included in the contract, yet they never inspected the units or their building otherwise the roof wouldn't be caving in within the storage units. They are taking no responsibility for the huge damages and losses incurred by the tenants due to their lack to have any due diligence. I am reporting this company to the better business bureau because it seems unlikely any of the legally required inspections and maintenance was upheld. I would recommend using any other storage unit nearby to save your property. I chose this company because of their promise to deliver climate controlled and dehumidified storage units to protect our belongings. If I had known their units were no safer than an outside shed that is falling apart, I would have chosen any other storage unit and paid any price to ensure the safety of my belongings. The unit has caused approximately $3,000 of damage and the company is taking no responsibility for the negligence and lack of due diligence on their end of the contract that caused this. Note: I have been paying them for years and they won't even refund the money I paid to keep my belongings safe when they weren't. read more

I've used different storage units in all the cities I've lived in, so I've got a good basis for evaluating. The facilities here are fine - no frills, but I wouldn't expect any for this type of price. The price of their big units (the outside freight container ones) are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than units even 2/3rd that size at other locations in this area. At first I wasn't sure I would like the 'freight container' units, but after using it for about a year now - I haven't had any issues (no rodents, no insects), and its really convenient to just drive up to the door to load and unload. Only have a few interactions with the desk staff, but no issues. I do like being able to pay via paypal on their website. read more

Don't rent here if you care about what you are storing. We rented a climate controlled unit, and when we went to remove all of our belongings, everything that was on the floor was soaked. The building must have leaked and the entire floor of our unit was wet. The best part? After I complained about it they said that they went and looked at it and "everything was dry". What a joke. They didn't care that my stuff got wet. They won't care if your stuff gets wet. The only thing they were worried about was whether or not I was going to ask them to pay for the stuff that got ruined. If you are looking for little to no customer service while paying a premium, this is the place for you. If I could rate this a zero, I would. read more

Moved my stuff out a few months back. I got a bonus surprise. The sheds apparently were not watertight and the floor bowed in the middle, so some water gathered in the center of the shed. Place is not well kept. Once again if you are looking for cheapest this is the place; however, don't even think of being late (there is no forgiveness) and don't place anything sentimental in the shed. read more

They are cheap, but their facilities are substandard at best (they need their lot repaved, there is a huge mud puddle in front of my unit, my door sticks etc.) and their customer service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. They are rude and have no problem hanging up on you when you tell them something they don't want to hear or have a problem they don't want to deal with. I wish I would have gone to ANY other storage place. read more
