After a great experience with a Discount Tire store in Tomball, TX in July 2012, I decided to try this store in Alcoa, TN, for two new tires this past February, 2013. I was travelling back to AL from VA and this location is the only store, currently, that is along the way. Getting a convenient appointment and competitive prices, compared to other shops and some online stores, was relatively easy. I got there later than expected, but they started the installation within an hour and I was on the road again after about thirty minutes. Daniel, my Service Manager, recommended an alignment at a local shop and then I was back on my way. Unfortunately, there was a slight wobble that I could feel on the sterring wheel while driving at highway speeds. When I called Discount Tire about it, they said that they may not have balanced the other two "older tires" which they rotated to the front axle and to come back to the store. I had to stop by the store on my way back to VA for them to fix the wobble. After diverting from my route from the Interstate, they balanced the two older tires and the wobble went away. The store manager was very apologetic for the inconvenience, compensated me for the extra time and mileage off my route and made some changes to make sure mistakes like this do not happen to other customers. While this was not a perfect or even good service experience, I appreciate businesses that hold themselves accountable for their performance and stand behind their reputation. I usually prefer using local businesses, but I have found value in using some regional chain stores that operate like a local business - wherever, I might need them. I would use this store again and encourage others to give them a try, especially if you live nearby or travel through the area frequently. read more

I can not say enough good about Discount Tire! Went in and talked about a set of tires that had worn out way before they should had. Only had 20000 miles on the tires. Two were worn bad and the other side was worn, but ok. Manufacture would have honored the two but the other two would have went to waste. So, Ben came through for me and discounted all four tires better than a "deal" I was going to get at the original place I purchased from. Wait time, about 20 minutes to get my truck in. After that, 10 minutes!!! Much better than the other place that took over 6 hours. Awesome guys to deal with and I WILL be going back. read more

I finally get to the counter after waiting 20 minutes, and I swear the worker looks right at me, deliberately steps around me and asks who is next. I'm not even joking! Phenomenal store! I worked in the automotive industry for a decade, in the recent years most automotive places are all about the numbers. This discount tire is all about service! Great service. They took care of me and didn't try to sell me anything extra. They were honest. They had good prices and you can't beat the patch repair and rotates that come with their tires. It was busy and I expected to be there a few hours and was incredibly surprised when they had me straight in and out. The staff was fantastic, accommodating and educated. Very busy store and apparently very popular but, my son contacted them looking for a set of used tires as he is out of work, was quoted a good price ($200.00 a set) but when we got there we were told the tires they told him about would not fit his car. They did have tires that would, at $690.00 a set! Bait and switch or just an employee who doesn't know what they are doing? Walmart has new tires at a much lower price! read more

Issue: My back rear rims were ruined by Discount Tire. Background and story: We have been a customer for many, many years. We have purchased tires in the past for a total of 4 vehicles, including 2 sets of high dollar rims within the past 12 years. We have spent thousands of dollars if you add up the total costs of all purchases on all vehicles. We were loyal customers to Discount Tire due to their excellent service and competitive pricing. Our local store in Alcoa, TN is all we use and always urge friends and family to use them. I sent my car into Discount Tire on a Saturday to repair nails in both left and right rear of my tires. I purchased all 4 of the high dollar, run flat, low profile tires at this location and receive free patch/plug repair because of this. We arrived at 4:30pm to get them repaired(unfortunately with my work schedule, this is the only time and day available for me and have been accommodated with this schedule in the past). Knowing the store closed in 30 minutes, I was reassured they would have it done before they left for the day. I met my husband there after his shift and decided to walk across the street to have dinner and advised the associate there was no rush and he could leave the spare key in the car and would pick my car up when our dinner was over. When we picked up my car at approximately 6pm, we noticed several dents, scratches and black chipping all around both rims on both the back tires that were repaired. Since they were already closed and also closed on Sunday, we couldn't address the issue until Monday morning. Due to my work schedule, my husband brought the vehicle back for the associate to look at before going to work on Monday. The associate kept suggesting that the wheels had been curbed. Despite the fact my husband has been a ASE certified mechanic for almost 20 years, including a mechanic for the US Army, he knows what it looks like when a rim or rims has hit a curb. The tires would show damage as well if this was the case. Also, even if I did hit a curb on both sides of the tires, the tires protrude out too far to touch the rim. Both wheels have almost identical damage and scoring which would be impossible to do at all, let alone in a day. And there is no damage to the tires. We asked the associate to replace the rims since they are now damaged and dented and he insisted us against filing a claim and offered us to have it buffed and repainted instead. When we refused and insisted on replacing the rims of the same type, he warned us that the claims department liked to get attorneys involved. He also told me this could take several weeks to settle. Now on Tuesday, one of my tires was leaking again. This is very frustrating when you have to air up your tire daily and worry about a blow out while driving daily. Whomever tried to repair my tire, was in a hurry. I have rounded edged rims and it is obvious that when the technician removed the tire from the rim, he did not use the proper equipment for a rounded edge rim. This resulted in damage to my two back rims and now it is leaking air again and I still can't keep air pressure in my tire. We have taken pictures of the damaged rims when we got home on Saturday as well as pictures of the undamaged and unmarked tires(which they claim was what caused the damage) and if there was an option to attach photos here, I would. For the record, my car is a 12 year old BMW and despite what people may think or assume, just because I drive a BMW, does not mean I have money. I contacted the corporate office in Arizona to get quicker response and they told us to email them a quote for two replacement rims. Unfortunately if anyone owns one will know, all BMW parts are expensive. Just to purchase 2 stock rims(not high dollar, just stock rims, they are $397.00 each. We didn't hear a word for 3 weeks and everytime we tried to call or email, the claims person was out or unavailable. Finally, today after numerous calls and emails, we got a response and they claim they will only reimburse us for one rim and claim it was because it was our fault that we curbed them. What my theory is or just one theory, they didn't realize the cost to replace the rims and blame me for it. What I don't understand is, if they are going to blame me for the damage, why offer to pay for only one rim. Well once again, here's my theory: Like I stated earlier, they didn't realize the cost of stock rims on a 12 year old BMW. Now, we got to figure out how to come up with the other $397.00 for the other rim. If anyone one of you who knows us, we are in a financial situation where any additional expenses are impossible. With all the personal issues, stress and life changing events in the past 5 months in our lives, this is the last thing I want to worry about. read more

My husband and I weren't sure what to expect going to the store today with the road conditions being horrible. When we arrived we were greeted at our car by the associates. Even though the roads are covered in ice and snow the staff had already cleared lines to help the customers define the parking spots. Every member of the staff was extremely professional and welcoming. Its not often that you find a place with great customer service and the staff here really surprised us. They got the tires changed on our car within 30 minutes. We would definitely recommend them to anyone and will continue to go back for all of our tire needs. read more

I called Discount Tire in Maryville, TN to have a tire replaced and spoke to Andrew on Friday morning. He said he had one tire in stock at $133 that would fit my vehicle and said he could order a better one for $188 and would have it there by Saturday and made an appointment for me to come in Sat. at 2pm. Upon arrival at 2pm neither tire was available. He offered to put a loaner (really?!) that was an asymmetrical tire, either a right or left side tire and the vehicle is a Slingshot with a center drive tire that needed to be replaced. Andrew knew it was a Slingshot that we were bringing in. He had already told me on Friday an asymmetrical tire would not work. Now he wanted to put one on. This is not the first time this has happened at Discount Tire in Maryville. We called about specific tires before for another vehicle and were told they were in stock and then when we got there, no such tire. Pure bait and switch. We won't be back. read more

I purchased a set of tires for my F-250 from this store 2 1/2 years ago. I experienced extraordinarily fast wear with them. I went back to the store yesterday. I was offered a fair pro-rate warranty price for four new tires. No arguments, no excuses. Just an explanation that Michelin has discontinued this particular tire because of wear issues and now have a new series of tire with an improved compound. They had to be ordered. I returned today for the installation which was done promptly and at the price quoted. i had asked for the tired to be installed with the white letters out. Unfortunately, they were installed with the letters in. Again, no arguments, no excuses. They made it right within 20 minutes. Further, the person who made the mistake approached me, took personal responsibility and apologized for the additional 20 minutes I had to wait. You simply cannot ask for more from a retailer. These folks have my future business and I will highly recommend them to anyone. And the coffee is pretty good too ! read more
