The owner (I presume) asked me why I thought the brakes might be bad, and didn't patronize me with my answers, which I find happens a lot in mechanics shops. I was extremely pleased with how kind and professionally they treated me. They also showed me how bad my breaks were and managed get me in and out within an hour! This year I went back and before they even started the inspection the mechanic came out to tell me that it would automatically fail because of a cracked taillight (the exact same crack that had been there last year when they said nothing about it). When I mentioned that last year at the ae place they said nothing about how this would fail the inspection they mechanic proceeded, with his eyes closed the entire time, to tell me how the regulations had gotten more strict this last year. I declined them starting the inspection and took my car to Take 5 Oil, where they did the inspection for $13. I even showed them what Mr. Tire had claimed would "fail" the inspection and they said it couldn't fail because there was no way for it to take on water. Never ever, ever do business at Mr. Tire in Boone.

I brought my car in this morning to deal with a potential transmission issue. After reading…read morenumerous reviews from people raising concerns about up-charging, I contacted the shop around an hour later and clearly stated I only wanted the diagnostic and that no work should be done until I received a quote first. After several back and forth calls between multiple parties, It was made clear that I would not be using Mr. Tire's services and would instead work to arrange a tow through my insurance to take my car elsewhere to be service. Several hours later, I left campus to retrieve my car so i could move it to another lot to make towing easier. After arriving, I found that my car was no longer in the lot. When i spoke with the front desk, I was told that my car had already been towed. This was extremely concerning as I had not authorized any tow through Mr. Tire. Several calls later, I learned that my vehicle was wrongfully towed by Hampton's Body Shop, which introduced an entirely separate set of unprofessional conduct. If I had not stopped by Mr. Tire to retrieve my car I would have never known that my car was towed. According to the front desk employee, a tow truck driver entered the shop and asked if he could tow a "black Jeep Cherokee." My Cherokee is gray. Despite the discrepancy, the employee handed over my keys with no verification process, no confirmation of the tow request, no license plate check, no identification, and no permission from me. This shows an extreme and unacceptable liability issue. My vehicle was released without any consent from me, removed from the lot, and not given any information of where it was for two hours. The only apology I received came from an employee who had little to no involvement in the incident and described it as "carelessness." I will be escalating this incident further with Mr. Tire and Hampton's body shop and expect a formal response addressing how this happened, what actions are being taken regarding it, and what steps Mr. Tire will take to ensure this never happens again.

I get a call saying there isn't anything wrong with the heater core but the other two things that were "broke" were "fixed". A week later, heat was still not working right so I took it back. Some wiring was wrong and it was "fixed" again. But it wasn't. Wasted $230 "fixing" my heat to find out that it was indeed a heater core. $1000 later, my heat now works.
