Parents DO NOT let your kids go here. There are other trustworthy shops in the area (SRS Tire & Auto is one). My college-age daughter was quoted $330 for rear shocks and an alignment to fix some handling/noise issues. A few hours later the car was "finished" and they installed not only rear shocks, but also front struts, sway bar links and new tires to the tune of over $3000. Not cool. I had been quoted for a brake job over ththe phone for around $800 which wasn't a bad deal at first but when I brought my car into the shop, and got it all done I was given a bill of $1300, for parts and labor as well as some other misc charges I'm not sure at all why I got this charges, because they had mentioned the brakes job was fully quoted around the $800 price with labor parts and all but after it was done I had to pay $1300 to get my car back almost 2x times the amount of the first quoted price read more

I was trying to stay out of this but I just can't. My son (22 yrs old) went here for a check engine light. They told him it was an ABS sensor. They told him that on his car it was easier to replace the whole wheel bearing (it does look that way). They also told him that he needed rear brakes, all tie-rod ends & tires. They apparently did not notice the hole is his passenger side CV boot. Literally the Sunday before we rotated his tires. He did not need rear brakes or tires, he does need tie-rod ends but we are doing them ourselves. My son thought that he could trust them so he had them put new tires on it. They charged him $260 for the new wheel bearing. It has an AutoZone part # & is $113 at AutoZone ($30 at Rock Auto). They charged $240 in labor to replace it. He ended up with a $1300 bill for tires & a wheel hub. It would have been well over $3000 if he had everything replaced that they said he "needed". He's a first year teacher & isn't exactly swimming in money. He knows that he made a mistake getting the tires before checking with me & hopefully learns from that. 5 days later & the ABS light is back on. He is going there today to see what they say but he is NOT spending any more money there, EVER. He is also warning all of his friends. A big 'thank you' to the crew at Mr Tire. Travelling with an Enterprise Rental car. Rear tire was struggling the whole way from MA to NC and have been filling it daily. The local Enterprise dealership in Boone directed us to Mr Tire to have it checked out. At the drop of a hat, Chris had me there and was able not only to rectify the back tire but highlighted that the other tires were an issue. He dealt with Enterprise directly, got the service to replace the 4 tires approved and processed. All on the day before the Thanksgiving holiday on what looked like a super busy day. Polite, open with all the work and communications that were going on, and able to handle this rather desperate need. Really glad am not facing an 850+ mile drive on Friday with tires I am not sure were going to make it! And shout out to Blake at Enterprise in Boone for his rapid help and advice. read more

The people here seem really nice at first, but they try to get you to change accessories/parts of your car that don't need to be changed at all. One example is when the last time I came into the shop, they told me that I needed my brake pads changed. Well, a month and a half later, I went to another mechanic and they said my brake pads were 20% in the front and 50% in the back These people try to scam you out of your time and money, please look for other mechanics around the area. There are many better options than Mr Tire here in Boone. Also, not to mention, a $60 oil change is an absolute scam. read more

I dropped of my truck for an alignment, they didn't even pull the truck in the shop and charged me $117.00 for the alignment that wasn't done at all. After a trip to the beach 5 hours from home my tires are worn horribly and they said nothing could be done just going to refund my money so I'm screwed out of my new tires. I strongly recommend that no one use Mr tire unless you want to be stranded without a vehicle. They don't care about the customer service at all . A razor blade got caught on one of my tires and flattened it out, so I came here to get it repaired. While I was waiting a customer with a really cute pit came in and it sparked a conversation with one of the repairers. We had the nicest conversation about his pets and he even showed me pictures of his dogs and told me a story about one of them that made me cry. Then when my car was ready they said I didn't owe them anything, so I started bawling. I was having such a bad day, but it automatically became great after leaving this repair shop. If the guy talking to me about his dogs reads this, just know you're a great man and thank yall for repairing my tire. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for months to express my gratitude to Austin and the lovely crew at Mr. Tire who literally saved my family's mountain vacation after renting a rental car in Ohio that had a tire with a slow leak.. we had to stop multiple times on the way from Columbus to Boone to deal with this issue. We were staying with a friend out in Meat Camp and so I decided to go really early on Saturday morning to see if they could help me. The place was super busy and I was stressed as we were trying to get up to Grandfather Mountain that day. Despite being completely slammed, Austin and team were so kind and professional. They listened to my issue, and had me in and out of there in less than 40 minutes with a patched tire. My family and I had a glorious day at Grandfather Mtn and we are so grateful for the special experience we had up there. My daughter picked up a nail in her tire and since it was Saturday, I sent her to Mr Tire to have it plugged. They told her that it couldn't be repaired and tried to sell her a new set of tires. We decided to take it to Idols Tire first of the week. No attempt to upsell us, they just fixed the tire. I have been a customer of Mr. Tire for over 12 years. I mainly dealt with the Blowing Rock Rd. location until management changed. Now for the past few months, I moved to the Jefferson Road location. What a disaster! This summer they did not tighten the lug nuts on my daughter's tires after a tire rotation. Fortunately, my husband was following her on the highway before this could have become a horrific disaster. This was reported and Phil was very apologetic. Now, I'm dealing with Chris and he failed to order a spare tire for my car!!! I requested this two weeks ago and received a voicemail telling me they had ordered my tire. Today when I called to check on the status of my tire, I was told they had no clue. I am done with their ineptitude. read more
