My wife went in for a tire rotation. The sales person tried to sell her two new tires. She called me and put him on the phone. I explained to him that I only wanted the tires rotated. He said ok, and then continued to pester my wife until she gave in and spent a LOT of money unnecessarily. To say I am angry is putting mildly. They didn't even rotate or balance the tires, so I will still have to spend more to get what I originally went in for done! All of the tires are now overinflated as well! I used to like Discount Tire a lot. I am never going back there again, and will recommend to others that they avoid it. I purchased new tires and wheels, close to $2000 total, i usually pay everything in full at time of purchase. However i was offered (by an employee who seemed rather pushy) "interest free" on their credit card and was told it was for 18 months. No physical statements and just discovered that it was 12 months. Statement shows a balance of close to $1400 as they just added well over $600 in interest charges at over 30%. I was making regular payments to cover this purchase. I used to hold them in high regard, everything else is great. I will never return. I really dislike deception. My guess is the employees get a bonus for selling the "interest free" card. I am totally disgusted. read more

Located in a new building across from a WalMart, they are easy to find. There is an entrance to their parking lot off the street just before them as well as directly off W. Market. All parking is across a traffic lane. There is handicapped parking and a ramp to the door. You should also expect at least one vehicle parked in front of the entrance where they park vehicles they have completed work on, meaning the handicapped ramp is generally blocked by vehicles in front of the building. The lobby is bright and clean. I was waited on within a minute of walking in each time. Two great services they offer are free flat repairs and free tire rotations, regardless of where you bought your tires. I've used their flat repair to fix a slow leak and planned to get a tire rotation. One thing they do every time you come in is check your tread depth. I knew my tires needed replacement soon so was not surprised they recommended replacement instead of rotation. BTW, they also ask about replacing your wiper blades every time. I had researched previously so knew what tires I wanted. The red shirt (techs?) made a different recommendation which was actually cheaper than the set I wanted. I accepted their recommendation. They were busy and told me it would be several hours until they could get to me. They said I could leave and they would text me when to be back. I came back when notified but still had to wait an hour for the installation. The waiting area is along the outside walls of the lobby. They offer bottled water too. I had heard about the ability to return/ replace tires up to 30 days or so, but did not realize it was something you pay for when you purchase your tires. That cost an additional $144 on top of the cost of the tires. When I was driving home I noticed a rhythmic bumping. This did not go away over several days and many different road surfaces. I also checked air pressure, but it was set at what they had recommended. I researched the tires they had recommended and found it was a name brand tire manufacturer, but a tire made exclusively for Discount Tire. I found less than stellar reviews, especially compared to the tire I had originally wanted. One thing mentioned several times was the tires are not round, leading to a rhythmic bumping. I went back about a week after the purchase and told them I was not happy. There was no hassle and I selected the tires I originally wanted, which needed to be ordered but would only take a day to arrive. They called me the following day and said I could come in any time. My wait time was two hours, so again I left and came back when notified. They replaced the week old tires with the brand new ones without issue. They also upsold me on all-metal one piece lug nuts. Overall, in the end I got the tires I wanted and am very happy with them. The ability to replace tires is a good benefit, but you do pay for the service. I did not check if you can decline. The free rotation and flat repair is an excellent service for all, and I am sure it gets them a lot of additional business, especially since they also check tread depth and ask about wiper blades every time. As long as you know what you are walking into, you can get excellent products and service. read more

I rode with my boyfriend to get new tires put on his car today. He called the store prior to arrival and spoke to the manager, Bobby. Bobby helped him find the right tire in his price range. Although they were busy when we arrived, we were met with such attentiveness and efficiency. While the employees were being personal to each guest, they still work with a sense of urgency without the feeling of being rushed away. We drove to Discount Tire in Johnson City, TN this morning for a flat tire repair on 2009 Honda CRV. We came to this store as this is where we bought the wheels/tires for this car. We also were due for a tire rotation so we asked for that as well. Fortunately they were able to locate the reason for flat (left rear) and repair it. When we got home I noticed that the wheel of the repaired tire is covered with dirty and greasy handprints. Upon seeing this, it dawned on me that the tire rotation was improperly done as the rear tires cross over when moved to front. The repaired tire is still on the left side at front which proves an improper rotation. Now, this means another 44 mile round trip to have the tires, hopefully, properly rotated. We will be showing pictures to the manager (I have already spoken my displeasure to him) when we return. Frustrating! read more

Usually when I have new tires put on, they often fail to follow at least half of the directions. I realize I can be difficult, but I want things done the right way. This shop did everything right. - car was lifted by the jack points, not the unibody - directional tires were facing the right direction - none of the expensive valve stem caps were lost - tire pressure was correct at 32psi front, 35 rear - new sensors had no issue self-programming - old sensors were returned to me, not thrown away - rim center caps were not damaged - lug bolts were at the correct torque spec That's all I wanted. I had a leak in my back passenger side tire that was getting worse and when I took it in they were backed up for 2 hours or more, so Zach told me to pull in and he would look at it, he said it was bad and needed to be replace as did the other one on the other side I told him I would come back first thing the next morning but he said the tire might blow before then but before I could say anything he very quickly took it upon himself to put 2 new tires on and it only took about 30 minutes. Well when you go in for a couple tires and come out with five and a full load of new pressure sensors you might think it was a bad visit. Not so. The guys were very helpful, provided me with all the date and wear info on my tires, which were very old, and made me a deal on the whole cost. Drove out on new shoes and the old truck rode like new! Wow! These people are great! The guys who work the front desk are kind, funny and helpful. I arrived one evening at 5:50 pm (they close at 6.) My car had a flat in the work parking lot so AAA filled it with air and I limped on over to Discount. It has a bright, clean waiting area. The guys at Discount said they would fix my tire if I could wait an hour and a half. I said they needed to go home to their families and I would be back for their 8 AM opening in the morning. Much to my delight they rolled back the garage door at 7:55 AM the next morning and there was my car, with patched tire and no charge (we have purchased tires from them in the past but not this particular tire). Terrible experience. I was helped by Chuck who was incredibly rude, condescending, and made me feel like I was inconveniencing him. I brought custom wheels to be put on my car and was up-charged 3x the price to ensure they would not be scratched when balanced and having tires put on them. It was my understanding that not damaging wheels was the purpose of a tire store to begin with some being charged extra for something that should be a standard for the store is absurd.
