I just waited 20 minutes in line. The guys working the counter seemed like they would do anything to avoid helping the line, when it was FINALLY my turn the guy said he had to go to lunch. I've already had so many issues with the tires from discount. Leaking since the day I've had them. Taken it in to get fixed. A week later same issue. I went into Discount Tire to get a small tire leak repaired and instead the technician tried to sell me four brand new tires. :( I think that must be their business model: If a customer comes in with a small repair or request, try to sell them four new tires instead. The margins are better that way. The technician said they couldn't possibly fix the leak because the tread on the tire was too thin. But I went down the street to another shop and they fixed the leak, no questions asked. read more

I've been to different Discount Tires across the valley and this one is by far my favorite. They helped me with an issue when the Discount Tire in Sandy failed to put on the O rings for my new tires and I drove all the way home to Kaysville. So dangerous! Tech removed my rim cover during an air check today and insisted it had already been broken. They refused to admit and take responsibility for the damage they caused. insisting it was someone else. The last time I had the rim covers removed was when this discount tire replaced all 4 of my tires. A free air check has now t caused me over $120 to replace this cover as I can only get it at Toyota. My first two visits to Discount were good. First was installing winter tires I purchased from Tire Rack for my Mercedes SUV Second visit was a new set of tires for our Subaru Outback, again a good experience. On April 15th I returned my SUV so they could swap out the winter to the new summer tires I purchased from Tire Rack. Short story - they damaged a strut and threw a malfunction code that has made the car non drivable. I have been referred to their insurance carrier and while my car sits in the shop I get to fight with them. The money and saved will quickly disappear and then some because of their poor care and installation. read more

I stopped by to get the air in my tires checked and possibly pumped up. It took quite a while longer than assumed. There was an issue to even get the pump going to check the pressure instead of even having a tire gauge handy and then because of low tire pressure, they consulted me inside the storefront where the agent was pushing me to buy an all new set because one was low. They hadn't even offered or checked if there was a screw or mail or something to cause the leak, just pushed to buy new from them. Went to run errands on a Saturday afternoon and came out to my car to find an alert warning of a very low tire. Drove straight to the West Hill field Road store and they were awesome. Very bad customer service. Have spent $$$$ at Discount Tire locations and this was the worst experience. I am not one to write reviews as I understand some people are having a difficult day. Discount Tires is a great option if you're ONLY looking for new tires. They can't do alignments, but they can give some recommendations and coupons for shops nearby. The prices on the tires are great. If you're looking to come here, I highly suggest researching ahead so you know what you want. They can help you decide in the store, but it's always better to do your research first. The one thing that upset me about this location is that online it gives you the option to add their tire protection warranty, but in the store he just added it without even discussing it with me. It's been a second so I don't remember the exact price, but this was about an extra $50 so it broke my trust that it wasn't even discussed as an option. I understand that to him it might be critical, but he should have explained that in his sales pitch. I would still go back and recommend it to friends. The tires have been great and the price was right. But again, always research first. read more

Had four tires replaced, asked twice to check air pressure on my spare tire, for my upcoming 3K mile trip. Was assured both times it would be done. It was apparent that the spare was never dropped, so I checked it. Spare was at 11 PSI. Over promised and under delivered. read more

i have shipped discount tire on many occasions. the store i used mostly was in hemet ca. and the service and value were excellent. they fixed flats for me on more than one occasion for free as well as my daughter who went in gave them my phone no and they fixed a flat for her as well. i purchased several sets of tires and custom wheels thru that location and was always treated very well. then we moved to jamestown ca and i took my 1970 chevelle in to have a new set of wheels installed that i brought in. they got on it right away but they never bothered to check to see if the new wheels fit the car before swapping out all four tires then they find that the wheels wouldn't fit. the manager told me since they should've done that right off there was no charge and the swapped the tires back and balanced them free as well. he asked me why i was swapping the ragar wheels out as they looked spectacular on the car and i explained as they were unilug wheels and balanced off the lugs as opposed to the center i could not get them balanced because it required a special adapter on their balancing equipment and could find an installer with the correct equipment or knowledge he told me they had the right adapter and they rebalanced them again free of charge as i was a long time loyal cust. fast forward 2 yrs and we had moved to utah. i was in need of new tires for my 06 ram 3500 so i went into the store in layton to check prices and was completely ignored. i stood at the counter for about 15 mins and although more than one associate came and went nobody even acknowledged my presence. so while i waited i went to their website and to my surprise they had the second highest prices of the five shops i checked before and after (their prices were usually very competitive) not hear though. i ended up ordering tires through an online seller and saved $600 a after paying a local tire shop to mount and balance them. i prefer to give my business to local companies to support my community but when their prices are so much higher than the online stores, well, $600 is a huge amount. they also don't offer the same level of service to returning customers unless you buy from their store. didn't matter that i had purchased over $7,000 in tires and wheels from their sister stores. i had grown to hate california, that's why we moved but apparently they hate california too and california customers as well. i will no longer f deal with this company. it's a shame too. but that's how it goes i guess. it's hard to imagine that utah stores would charge more than high priced california store charge but it's true. would've been four stars if not for the lousy experience at that particular location. read more

Not only could they not repair the flat tire, they told me that I needed 4 new tires. Yeah.... Right! Spectacular! My wife called me last night in a panic a little after 6pm saying that her tire was losing air fast. I had her meet me at Discount Tires. When I entered the store at 6:10 I asked the general manager if the store was closed. He said that they were but asked what was going on. I told him and he looked at the tire and told me not to drive around on the tire and fixed the flat himself! We have always had excellent service at this location and will return again and again! read more

So let me start by saying I don't leave reviews but this one needs to be told i went to this discount tire back in October got my tires rotated and apparently when this was happening they broke two of my lug nuts. This information was not shared with me. So instead of just telling me what had happened they decided the best course of action was to zip tie them instead. So months later when my car is getting worked on at a different place they offered to rotate my tires for me and they found those lug nuts broken and zip tied. When I learned about this information I decided to call discount tire to talk to the manager, he told me and I quote "there is no way in this world that a zip tie can fit on a lug nut." I honestly think this manager thought I was stupid. So I want to thank discount tire for taking my life in there hands all because they couldn't just tell me that something had be broken! My question to discount tire is why? Is your company's name really more important then the life's of your customers? read more

I am absolutely locked on Discount Tire 100%. I will continue to purchase and have all my tire needs and services done at Discount Tire. Their service has always been great and always surpassed my expectations. I always replace my tires there and I truly recommend purchasing the certificate they have which is a tire warranty. It is so worth it. If your tire is ever damaged, they replace it with a brand new tire for free. There were a couple times where I had a nail in the tire and it damaged it and another time my tire was basically cut badly and Discount Tire replaced the tire both times with a new tire at no charge what so ever. They also do all the rotation and balancing for free with you tire purchase. Their service is great, fast and very professional. read more

Typical of Northern Utah workers, lazy and no common sense. I worked as a engineer at a factory near by and would constantly get crap stuck in my tires. Once I went here to patch my tire for the 5th time. The lazy person who did the work just threw the wheel lock to roll around on the passenger floor rather then put it where it belongs in the trunk. If that wheel lock were to get lost, I would have to hope that VW can sell me a new one at my expense. When I did a mass cleaning of my car, I threw the wheel lock in a box not knowing that I have wheel locks on my wheels. Almost a year after I left hell (AKA, Layton), I go to a discount tire in Costa Mesa, CA and they inform me that I have wheel locks and the lock is no were to be found. Now I need to search my house for this wheel lock. This would have been all avoided if the lazy worker (typical for the area) just finished up the job by putting the wheel lock in the trunk where he found it. read more

Really wanted to leave a wonderful review... quick to get me in on tire rotation yet they broke my stud on one wheel and were willing to take care of it but the referral they gave me has terrible hours for my particular schedule and they won't give me a referral in SLC where I could more easily get this taken care of ... their mistake but now I'm left to deal with it ... I have very limited spare time ... this is my one day off to get everything taken care of ... needed to get car inspected and now that's on hold ... completely frustrated read more

Not only do they have great value tires, but they really take care of their customers, like was that time when I had a blowout in the middle of nowhere and they could have gotten out of replacing it for free since I'd driven on it some distance while it was flat, but they replaced it anyway. Do not ever shop at this Discount tire store on Hill field in Layton. I had them instal and balance 4 tires on my truck today, before leaving I thanked them for a job well done gave the tire installers a $15 tip. I get down the road, jump on the freeway getting to about 70mph and front left tire blows valve stem out and quickly looses tire pressure. Luckily I manage to get my truck under control and into the breakdown lane. I get out to inspect and valve stem is completely gone. Not a big deal and I understand things happen, I call discount tires and talk to the acting manager, he tells me sorry about that but there is nothing we can do about it, showed absolutely no care. I hang up and call the discount store in Roy, they send out a flat bed tow truck, get my truck in right away, bring me inside their garage and show me exactly what happened, their conclusion was that the hill field store installed the valve stem half way and did not seat it correctly. The Roy store covered the repair and tow truck bill and got me back on the road in 30 mins. STAY AWAY FROM HIELFIELD LOCATION! The absolute arrogance of their manager 'Jason' is unbelievable! The manager in Roy was very professional and took care of me. read more

About a year after I bought the tires, I went in for a rotation and was informed that the tires on my truck had been recalled. Discount offered to replace them at no cost. I opted to upgrade to BFG ATs for $18 each tire. Not bad, considering I had already put about 20,000 miles on the first tires! read more

I will never do any business with discount tire again. The jerk at the West Layton store refused to rotate my tires which have less than 15000 miles on them because of uneven ware. That's the whole reason to rotate tires duh. He talked down to me like I was stupid and blind. There was plenty of tread he simply thought he could make another $2000 in sales since they were obviously slow today. Went to Goodyear and had them rotated no problem. The guys at Goodyear laughed and rotated them for free even tho they didn't sell me the tires. Don't get ripped off or treated like an idiot, go anywhere else!!!! read more
