Sometimes I have older vehicles and have to buy a set of tires, sometimes I have new vehicles and don't have to visit them for years. Today I had a screw in my tire. We made an appointment (what a joke) to get wheels rotated and balanced, plus fix a flat. Took an hour and a half to NOT balance or fix flat !!! They thoroughly screwed up the balance, worse than it was. They did not fix the flat. Their invoice says they did but it's not true. We had a five hour trip from Lubbock to go - the vehicle shook and vibrated excessively once we were on the highway. It actually felt unsafe! So we stopped in LaMesa at a wonderful place, LaMesa Tire and Battery. He showed us on the computer that each wheel was way out of balance. Then he showed us the screw still in the tire!!! $100.00 to do the work, 30 minutes, great attitude! So I called Discount Tire and talked to the manager, Chris Hare. He apologized but refused to pay us the $100.00 we were out to LaMesa Tire. He said that the next time we're in town to come by so he could see the vehicle and "try to make it right". We probably won't be back for months. We paid $140 per wheel for a warranty- what good was it. We are not happy. read more

Appreciate the free air pressure check, but I truly cannot believe that technicians who fill tires all day insist on doing it wrong. Instead of checking for the psi listed on the tire, he chose to go with the pressure listed on the door. I told him they would likely be different since I had all season tires put on a few months ago instead of what's usually on my car, and he still didn't listen. He chose to under-inflate my tires. I then had to go to a gas station and ended up filling them myself. The free service is nice and convenient when it's done right. Instead I wasted my time and my money because I wouldn't have inflated them at all had he left them alone. And when I asked him more questions at the end of the service, he didn't really have an answer for me. For someone who works at a tire shop, he sure didn't know much about tires. And as always, I was reminded to just do things myself and save the headache. read more

I went in to have my tires rotated (supposedly lifetime rotate and balance package) and remove a screw in right front tire. I've bought my tires etc from this store for the last 20 years or so. The guy checked and said tires are 8 years old. The tires only have 28,000 miles on them with good tread. He got a bottle of soapy water and pulled screw out a little and said it was leaking. But could not repair since tires were so old. Also said my "lifetime" rotate and balance was only good for life of tires which is 6 years old. Offered me a new tire but I don't want one new tire and the others old. I felt like I was getting pressure to buy a whole set of tires. Just wanted my tire fixed and rotate. They wouldn't do it so I told them I'll NEVER come back to discount tire EVER!! I took my pickup to another tire store and they checked and said the screw NEVER punctured the tire. I brought my jeep to get an alignment, it was done without recommending a balance. Brought it back for balance and they decided to do another alignment...this is when the trouble began. I need to add, this started in March of 2025. After the alignment, they lost my center cap, one of my valve stem caps and none of the other caps were tight. After leaving my jeep was very squirly. One day while driving ( luckily on 20mph and not 70) it began to violently shaking. Took it to my mechanic who advised me that the tie rod was not tightened during alignment and damaged the tie rod, not to mention, endangering my life. After filing a claim, they reimbursed my cost and offered another alignment. I took it back(were in may now) for alignment. My steering wheel emblem was straight up and down not straight across on steering wheel, my truck was all over the road. I spoke to Asst Mgr who did alignment who tells me everything was done properly and I could bring it back. Instead I take it to my mechanic and AGAIN nothing was tightened back from alignment. AGAIN putting my life in danger. Either they need to recalibrate their machine or retrain employees or both. It is absolutely ridiculous of the quality of the work or the value of the lives they put in jeopardy. I'm beyond disgusted. read more

I got here at 3. There were maybe 4 other people in the building. They told me at about 4 that my alignment was done and now all I'm waiting for is them to put ONE tire on. I followed up with an employee about my tire to which they told me that I had 11 people infront of me??? I just want to know why they didn't just put the tire on when they did my alignment? I waited until 6 o clock where I ended up just telling them to forget about the tire and payed for my alignment and left. Don't go here unless you want to show up and watch everyone come in after you and leave before you! read more

Services were good. Very polite professional. Asked to fix a tire, but because it had been patched before and came undone they wouldn't fix it because another tire place had already. Which was good and understandable. But to put a 500$ tire on before asking and expecting me to buy the other 3. No. Just because that's what is on the car doesn't mean that's what I can afford. They came with the car when I bought it. Mini coop used doesn't cost that much. They're expensive to keep up on some things. In Lubbock I don't need 500$ tires. Upset me a little. Took 4 hours to wait for one tire. They should have called me. I would have went back to where it first had been done. Not wasted their time or mine. The tire tech was up set having to take it off. I would be too. Felt like they were trying to force me into buying it. No next time call your customer and ask. Saves you your techs and customers time. They chose to waste time. Your employees need to be treated valuable, not made to work harder than needed to be. Their job is hot and hard. Respect that. read more

I have to give this store kudos. I had a nail in my tire and brought it in to have it patched. They did and I left. When I got home I notice the wheel was damaged. So, brought it back in and pointed it out. They did not argue and we immediately started the process of replacement. They replaced it and stood behind their quality promise. Also bought a new set of Michelin's. Not a small purchase and they took what the wheel would have cost them off the tires. Score!! Actually bought the wheel at a dealership and had to return the core. Went to drop off the core to the dealership and inspected my other wheels. To my dismay, they had damaged TWO MORE WHEELS. (That's three. "Why didn't you check them while at the store?" you ask? Well, I had been assured that it would not happen again, that they would take their time. Apparently, they did not.). I'd say in their showroom for 3.5 hours that day. Listening to other customers bitch about the hour they had to wait (when the wait time was clearly posted as 2 hours) I was almost in tears. I was told to go to the Milwaukee and 82nd store. I did and spoke to a very nice young man who was eager to help. Long story short, it took a few days, but I got 3 brand new wheels and 4 brand new tires. I cannot complain about Discount Tire as they did make all right in my world; however, it was unnecessary. Had the University and 82nd location just taken their time, and showed a small amount of care, they and I could have avoided this whole crap sandwich. I could have purchased 6 tires for what it cost them to replace 3 wheels. I have dealt with several stores over the years and I've been a Discount customer since the 90's. I will remain a customer but will avoid the University and 82nd location. If you value your wheels as I do, you will, too. read more

Took my car in due to a roofing nail in my tire. They had my car for about 3 hours. Got it back, took it home, parked it for a few days, went to get in and the same tire was flat. Today I had tires replaced at this store (2310 82nd St) and was blown away by their superior customer service, courtesy and communication, along with their usual technical expertise with my vehicle. Well I won't be going back to this establishment. I was quoted a price over the phone the night before we took the car in, and when my wife took the car in the next morning, they promptly charged her $100 more than they had quoted me the night before. My wife showed them the quoted price and she was just told it was a charge for warranty, she was never was given the option to decline or told the warranty was optional. In my opinion, and after reading the other reviews, it is clear that this establishment is not run very well. Also the fact that they tried to overcharge my wife, maybe because she was a woman, is disturbing and should be a warning to others that do business here. With all that being said, I gave them two stars because the service was fast and the product seems pretty good so far. 06/03: absolutely no follow up from this company after several weeks. It is amazing they care so little about their customers. Even the burger joint where I found a price of plastic in my burger had the district manager call me. I filed a formal complaint online with Discount Tire and I was told it was being sent to the district manager. What a bunch of smoke, absolutely no follow up to a matter that basically involves treating women differently. Shocking. Reducing to 1 star. read more

I was visiting from out of town when I realized with the help of my cousin in law that my front tires needed to be changed before I drove 6 hours home. They took care of my tires while being extremely safe as I didn't want them to move my driver seat at all as I have a rear facing car seat (I am a nanny) behind my seat. They also sanitized everything they touched including my key. Got me in and out efficiently, and they were very polite and helpful! I would totally return to them if needed and I am back in the area. On a recent trip while traveling from Utah to Texas we woke up to a flat tire in Lubbock. When we arrived at the discount tire store they're in Lubbock we were greeted by Sean. He assessed our situation and got our tire repaired and re-mounted in less than 30 minutes. Not only were we surprised that the prompt and friendly service by Sean but we were also pleasantly surprised at the Bill. We were not charged for the repair or the valve stem that they replaced. Worst service and dishonest group of people I have ever had to deal with we have been customers for 30 years and have always used them on my work cars and personal cars. That ended today all over the mistreatment of my son while trying to get a flat fixed on tires only three months old. He was told they would fix it. He waited an hour then his girlfriend picked him up right before closing they called and said repairs are not free and was told to take his car with no repair being made. They even tried to sell him a new tire even though the nail was dead center in middle of tire tread. These guys are crooks to the core and provide no service to long time customers. read more

I have been a Discount Tire fan and loyal customer with my small fleet of vehicles for years...but no more! Historically, Discount has given great customer service and honest advice to its customers, but their policies seem to have changed. I took my wife's Honda Odyssey in for tire rotation in July 2016, and was told the tires were worn out and there was no need to rotate. The salesman then tried to sell me new tires, using scare tactics about loss of control, hydroplaning and blowout. I pulled my wear gauge from the glove box and the tires had 8/32nd tread....that's a full 1/4". I hate to think how many unsuspecting customers have fallen for this scam, because Texas law allows safety inspections until the tread is 2/32" (1/16"), or less. Since then, I have purchased 3 sets of tires from other vendors and found their prices and service every bit as competitive as Discount. No more Discount Tire Scams for me! read more

Went in to the store on a busy Saturday Morning. I needed a flat fixed. Good enough greeting ect. I was told I would be out in an hour and fifteen minutes. Now this is a long time for a flat, but they were busy. After an hour and fifteen minutes, I asked for my keys, they had not even started on the flat repair. The guy I was dealing with said please wait some more, I can have it done in 20 minutes. I could not wait, besides I did not trust him. The customer service has always been professional and they always get me in and out as fast as they can. This is by far the best Discount Tire we have ever used. We have relocated with my husbands company and used Discount Tire in several different towns in Texas. I've also used the Slide location in Lubbock. My first choice remains the one on 82nd & University ~ it never disappoints. They are honest about the tread on the tires but not pushy if you need new ones. They advise the best option for your safety and then let you decide. The road hazard is a great deal! Their customer service is excellent and their employees treat men and women alike, professionally and respectfully. We trust them implicitly and would not go anywhere else.
