For someone who is looking to get car maintenance done. You might want to choose a shop with a management team that isn't as bratty and stuck up. If you want to go to a toxic shop that dosen't treat their employees right, nor their customers over half the time then you're in the right place. I have had my vehicle serviced by Mavis in the past thanks to Chasin and Mitch. They made the experience smooth and easy they are not the reason for the 2 star review. AGAIN THE WORKERS ARE NOT THE REASON FOR THE BAD REVIEW. I have read so many reviews that are hidden in their multitude of them but they are all stating the same or similar thing. Yes some of their mechanics don't give a f because they aren't valued some actually do care. They are taught "policy" when a real mechanic would know how to keep a car safe. I have seen and heard first hand of the attitude from the "managers" of this business. Word of advice if your turn over rate is high look at your managers that seem to have such a big stick up their A. Edit.1- We have been trying to find corporates number but haven't had any success. If someone at corporate would talk with me I'd love to talk with them. There is a bigger matter at hand which I would love to discuss. My fiancé worked at Mavis from Feb 2026 to May of 2026. He would have still been there and not quit if due to Alex telling my fiancé that our miscarriage wasn't a valid reason for taking off work that day. We provided valid documentation to him which still didn't matter. I was a higher risk and ended up hemorrhaging and having to call 911 for borderline shock in which I almost died if he wasn't with me. As a company, there is a professional way to handle matters like this. One of them, not being that it isn't a valid reason. Alex is not a good manager and does not value his employees. They are narcissistic and manipulative towards everyone beneath them. They will say something completely uncalled for and then when you bring it to their attention they will (what's referred to in romantic relationships as) "love bombing". Even after hearing the conversations with Alex personally and my husband, and the google reviews you see when searching his name... I have come to an understanding of who he is as a person and none of those qualities qualify him as a manager. We had been in communication with him and provided the pictures (attached to this review). If Mavis has past employment information, please contact my fiancé Tristan LaFuze. I could not figure out how to get my vehicle out of accessory mode. We tried everything. Luckily, Mavis was open after 6pm and we called to see if they could help us figure it out. Alex answered the phone and was friendly and professional. He then transferred us to John, who stayed on the phone with us for at least 10 minutes, trying to help us resolve the issue. It finally worked! John was incredibly helpful, patient and kind. I truly appreciate these guys taking the time to help us with a personal issue. I definitely recommend giving them a call! read more

I've been to some bad shops before but these guys just really don't care and you can see it on all their faces. Not sure if they just had more important things or people to tend to but communicated to your customers would be nice. Went in for a scheduled appointment for a service that takes less than 15 minutes, and was told there was a 30 minute wait because there was 1 person ahead. Waited almost 2 hours before I decided to leave because they were more invested in other customers that came after me. Been there a few times, but probably won't go back again. read more

This is the best tire shop in Lubbock. My daughter and I were trying to head back to Dallas when all of a sudden our tire had a slow leak. It was Sunday which limited our options even more. After we went to 2 other chain repair shops, we decided to come to Mavis. They said it could take them an hour to look at it but that was faster than the other quotes we were given. Once we arrived, our car was fixed within 20 minutes!!! They treated us like family and make sure we could safely make the trip back home. I couldn't recommend Mavis enough!! Don't go to the chain tire shops, they won't care about you as much as the staff at Mavis will!! read more

Really didn't want to leave a review. I got 4 new tires and scheduled an appointment for a later day. They called and said they were not busy and if I could bring it in, they would have me out quickly. I came in slightly before 11:30. My car didn't move from its parking spot until close to 1:30. Then the tire machine broke when all my tires were off the car. Now, I was forced to find a ride and come back later. It took 5 hours to finish my car. I get it, the tire machine was out of their control. Still, no one apologized or took accountability that it was not an in and out experience. No one said sorry about the inconvenience when I picked it up my vehicle. An apology goes a long way or even some acknowledgment for taking up my Thursday would have been nice. Something a little more than the "sh*t happens" attitude I felt that I received. The tires do look great though, so there is that. read more

06.23.24- my husband and I were returning from a trip out of  eastern NM. One of the vehicles we drive is a 93 Suburban (which belongs to my dad). We noticed that the brakes were beginning to grind on the way out of town; it never went through a "squeaking/squealing" phase. Now, I do want to note that although it was likely needing pads/rotors, it was in safe driving condition. 06.25.24- I take the suburban into Mavis. Based on their exemplary reviews, it was easy to choose them; which now I'm highly questioning their legitimacy! I go in for my 3PM brake appt and get quoted $505 for new front brake pads and rotors. As a girl going into a shop you worry about getting taken advantage of as is, but the store manager, Daniel, had quoted a man nearby over $1,000 for all new brake pads and rotors, so I figured it was just going to be high. I began to call my dad to see what he thinks about the price; however, he was busy at the time so it took a little bit to reach him. In the meantime, Daniel comes back to let me know that I will need to have the brake line flushed and that it may need a new caliper d/t it being potentially seized (an additional $150). Daniel has me go into the shop to show me that my wheel bearings are loose, (passenger's front). Well they're tapered meaning that a little play is fine. I stated that I can pay for the additional caliper or wheel bearings, not both. Around this time is when I reach my dad. He stated that the price is way too high and that he'll just plan on meeting me to see what the suburban needs. The mechanics put everything back together but continued to charge the $154 since they had got started. I understood that it was protocol and let them charge my card. Once the suburban is ready, Daniel walks me out (cigarette in hand) and begins asking, "You're not going to be driving very far are you? I wouldn't go any faster than 70mph." I thought it was strange but likely something they told everyone that didn't get the suggested work. Upon getting into the suburban, I see a huge grease spot in the seat! I asked a mechanic to clean it. I make it nearly halfway home (6mi total from shop) when I hear something that sounds like the wheel has came off the axle. I'm on the loop at this time and it's 4:30PM. I make it to my exit and stop to assess the damage. Luckily, the wheel is still on but it's smoking and there's fluid leaking out onto the rim. I do make it home, very slowly. Also, to add another small detail to this very long story, is that I'm 22 weeks pregnant. I get in the house and complete a survey from Mavis and get a call from the regional manager, Nick in about 5min time. He suggested that I have the suburban towed in the next morning and that they'll only charge what the parts cost. My dad wanted to assess the damage himself, so we didn't go that route, so he came to get the vehicle on Thursday. In the meantime, I spoke with a Dawn (who seemed sincerely concerned about my wellbeing) through the customer service number that is shared on the negative reviewed posts. She mentioned that they should be able to refund the $154 and also any additional damaged parts. On Friday morning, my dad found the following damage: spindle is ruined, treads were stripped and the bearing welded themselves to it. The driver's side was also tightened up way too tight but luckily isn't damaged. Nick spoke to both my dad and myself who agreed to give the refund back. Nick mentioned that Daniel would give me a call either Friday afternoon or Saturday. I waited until Saturday at 3:50PM to give the shop a call to see about the refund. Daniel answered and said that he would give me a call back in 15-20min, but never did. I texted Nick at 5pm and haven't heard back. I called Mavis today (06.30) but a different manager stated that he can't complete refunds. Now, maybe since it is the weekend, this may be the reason but I'm hoping that they're not about to give me more of a run around on this issue that became a HUGE problem once their mechanics messed with the suburban. I will update once/if the refund is received. read more

I went to Mavis tire to get my tire fixed. Angel helped me when I got there and the gentleman that worked on my tire did a great job getting the piece of metal removed and getting my tire fixed, he also checked a few other things and let me know my brakes and battery were good as well!! I picked up a nail in 1 of my tires in the Yukon. Of course it was Sunday and most tire places were closed. It was dropping air quick so I found one that was opened with a really good rating. So I proceed to go get my tire fixed. Let me tell ya life can't be that easy. I get there they look at it and say oh it can't be fixed gotta replace it. Ummmm, ok I need to buy 1 tire then cause it's a brand new vehicle with only 4K miles on it! The guy then proceeds to say oh we don't have that tire and will take us minimum 4 days to get that one and we can't patch yours and it will cost 400 plus for a cheap tire the manufacturer put on the Yukon. No thank you! I'll buy a brand new set. Of course they don't have the ones I want but can have em first thing in the morning and set me an appointment time for 10am ! Perfect! I proceed to get there this morning at 9:45 to be told they ain't got my tires but would be there on the 10:00 shipment so I say ok that works I was a few mins early. So they put me in line of work to do. Told me it would be 1:00 pm when it would be complete I of course am not leaving my vehicle so I was not happy but said ok. At 1pm my vehicle is still sitting in the parking lot cause they ain't even touched it. So I go ask why and that I had a 10 appt my tires weren't there when I got there then my vehicle ain't even been started at 1 when it should've been done. He says we pulling it in next. So again mad I say ok cause I need a tire. Mind you all this time I'm sitting in a building with a broken AC since Sunday when I originally went in about my tire. An hour later I said I'm done! I go tell him I need my keys cause I'm done! I'll find tires some place else! So I go to discount tire order 4 new tires they had the ones I wanted in stock! 1 hr later I have 4 new tires on and guess what?!?! That tire MAVIS said couldn't be fixed was fixed and they kindly put all 4 of my tires in bags and loaded em in the Yukon for me! 2 grand later I'm furious! So folks especially my lady friends DO NOT go to a Mavis for any kind of work especially in Lubbock mine was at the slide location cause they ain't honest! 1 star is being extremely gracious and I'm not one to trash businesses especially in this economy but I don't want to see anyone else taken advantage of and lied to. read more

I have always given Mavis 5 Star reviews, but something is going on at the Slide Rd, Lubbock store , that is unacceptable. They put the wrong size tires on my vehicle. When I wrote to Corporate, I got no reply. Then within a month they put the wrong size tires on my friends vehicle. This is ridiculous. read more

Went in to get a nail removed from tire.my Even though they were close to closing, the gentlemen were kind enough to fix the tire for me. I GREATLY appreciated this. Both Mark and Jack gave GREAT customer service. Polite, efficient, wasted no time. I 100% will be going back for all future needs. Definitely recommend. They are also open on Sundays - huge bonus if you're needing help on the weekend, since most tire shops are closed. read more

I got to the location on 7819 Slide Road at 0730 Friday March 30, 2024. I needed my alignment checked. after about 2 hours, I was called to the front and given a price. Nothing mentioned about what they did or what they found wrong. just a price. I asked and it was explained. Then talked about shocks and rotation of tires. they can't rotate, I have aftermarket wheels. No problem. I was told they could do the shocks. Take about an hour and a half. ok. TWO hours later, nothing. I notice no one is working on my truck either. I see a man from O'Rieys put shocks I front of my truck and bring in an invoice. I asked what was going on. I was told that the wrong parts were delivered. I expressed that I was lead to believe they had the parts in house, "no one keeps parts in house". I stated that communication would have been nice. Once that they don't keep them in house and then when the wrong ones were delivered. They had the shocks on in about 20 minutes. I was told I would be given a military discount, I am a veteran. There is a sign that states $149.99 an hour labor. I asked to see the invoice before I paid. I was being charged $149.99 for a 20 mimute job. He cut the labor price to $75 AND TOOK THE MILITARY DISCOUNT AWAY, gave me a discount of $20.75 AND CHARGED ME $22.63 FOR MISC SHOP SUPPLIES. (You do the math) When I asked about the military discount, they guy told me" I took it away when you questioned the labor". SERIOUSLY??? I understand mechanics but their own tools, don't know if they do here or not...they could be provided, my son is a diesel mechanic in the oil field, but to charge me for something that you know is wrong? Is this the norm for this company?? Communication is lacking at this location. Or maybe just because I am a woman, they think I don't know....or, they screw all their clients this way. read more

I took my mother in to this shop because she was getting a notice on her dash that she needed to service her tire pressure system. We went to Rick's and stated our problem. We were told that there was no way to know which valve was faulty and we needed to replace them all. It would be a total cost of $300. That seemed ridiculous. So, I called my husband and he told me that was absurd and to get a second opinion. We went to Discount Tire on Slide and they tightened something and the notification went away. They didn't charge us. I tried to make this statement before and the owner of this business harassed me, called me a liar, and reported the review to Yelp. It was removed because I didn't have enough details. I know Don Spoon has a history of harassing people who create bad reviews so many was vague about my experience. I didn't want him to contact me. He did anyway. So, now I am posting with more details so he will be unable to have my review removed. Also, it should be noted that he posted several reviews for his own store that gave them five stars. Don, you do not have permission to contact me. I will not give in to your bullying or remove my review because you offer me money. read more

Beware LBK. Not even worth the on star. Yes I'm female. Yes. I don't know much about cars. But neither does this place. Not only did they screw me over, they endangered the lives of my family. The valve on my back tire blew off Sunday. Sweet friends were kind enough to come over and put on the spare. I took the damaged valve tire in to Ricks Monday morning. Fixed my tire, supposedly. Mind you, We bought the tire here and have been in 3 times with issues this month. Gave me my sensor in a bag. Said it needed to be replaced by the dealership. They FORGOT to tell me they broke it and that my tire they put back on was bad, had a gash, a nail, zero pressure and should not be driven on. I proceeded to drive all day yesterday until taking to the dealership today. After all that, said I needed a new tire because I drove on a flat tire too long!!! Shame on you Ricks. And...... when they tell you to sign to pick up your vehicle, you are NOT signing for pick up. You are signing for whatever they want and unless you ask for it, they do not give you a copy. Came to ricks for a flat tire repair. After going to discount tire and waiting an hour and a half for them to tell me they couldn't fix the patch and tried to sell me a new tire, I went to ricks was greeting with prompt service and the tire was fixed right then and there. They also have me my first repair for free!! Highly recommended! They did not try to sell me a new tire nor treat me different because I'm a girl. read more

I had another good experience at Rick's this week. I've used them several times in the past few years. I needed tires for my wife's car. A friend suggested checking online at Tire Rack for prices and ratings. I called Rick's and another store in town. Nick was very informative and suggested two of the top tire sets we found. Without prompting for price match he was within $10 per tire with installation. He got the car in the next day. Alignment was cheaper than the other place we called. I shopped local and beat an online deal. Great job Rick's. read more

Reasonably priced tires for my Ford Transit van- $300 less than Reagor Dykes and much friendlier- we did get misquoted for the wrong tires but they were able to get the right tires on it and was able to help me out on the cost for the trouble we went through and the time we spent- everyone makes mistakes it's how you fix them that counts and I feel like we were taken care off to the best of their ability. read more

If I could give them a zero, I would! I took my 2018 Pathfinder to have a tire repaired for a screw I ran over and they tried to screw me. I had first gone to Bolton's for the repair but their tire tech was out. They aired the tire up but told me it needed repair. I specifically asked if the object was in the tread or the sidewall and was told the tread that there would be no problem repairing it but they didn't have the right technician. At Ricks, after waiting 30 minutes the sales guy came in and said " I have some bad news, there were two nails and one was in the sidewalk and can't be repaired." I told the to take it down and return my car and was told it want drivable because the tire tech had removed the nail from the sidewall. I told them I was not buying g from them and I didn't trust them and to make my car drivable so they put on my donut. I take my car to the Nissan dealership and they repair the hole on the tread where the screw was and put 50 pounds of pressure in it with no leak from the sidewall. Cost was $10 plus tax. My tires only had 15,000 miles. Bottom line, don't use or trust Rick's Tires in Lubbock! read more

Make sure when you get a price from them they include mounting and balancing in the price. Discount tires always gives you the price including mounting and balancing. Ricks does not. I was quoted $87 for one tire and the total came out to $115. I should have gone to Discount tire. They quoted me $97 and it included the mounting and balancing. read more

Well I'd first like to say in the beginning everything was all nice and dandy but like a relationship it took a turn for the worst, I had my breaks repaired and asked that they would replace the front brake pads because my car is front wheel drive and if any of their incompetent employees knew that they would say hey it's on the service order to replaced the front break pads as requested. ‍ I left and was under the impression that my break pads were replaced correctly and also referred my boyfriend to go get his tires replaced there because I thought they did a great job but when we picked up his car they didn't really pay attention to what they were doing and nearly cracked the rim because they didn't realized it has a lock on them. His car has bigger size tires in the back and well they decided that we need to put one of the bigger tires up front. Idiots. It's was all jacked up but they fixed the issue. Well back to my Car a couple of months later my front break pads are grinding and they will I'm pretty sure say that they didn't do this and blow smoke up my ass. I say don't ever get anything done here because they cannot seem to get it right the first time and is absolutely a headache that you might as well avoid. read more
