Beware of the hard sell and downright scams to sell tires here. I came in with a tire pressure light on. They "fixed the flat for free". The next day the light came on again for the same tire. So back I went to have it serviced. The salesman then told me that the hole is now too big to repair. When I asked to see the hole he explained that there was another hole in the tire next to the one the repair man drilled. I told him it looked like a BS scam to sell me a new tire. He offered to pay 1/2 for the replacement tire. The next time I came in for a "free tire rotation". This time the salesman said the tires were not safe enough to be rotated. Sure my fronts were worn more than the rears. That is why I want them rotated. There is at least 10k miles left on them. I simply took my key and said goodbye. It's obvious this place is up to scamming its customers for more business. read more

I have five vehicles and used to always take them to Discount Tires. The problem is that they never last as long as they say they will. The vehicles are interstate driven by responsible people and have tire rotations as needed (6K miles). Everytime I buy a set of tires from here that are supposed to last 60k miles, they only last 40,000 then the place refuses to do the free rotations on the vehicles after that. The last time I was in this place, the manager gave me some speel about $50 off even though the tires that they put on their onely made it 40,000 miles. What a joke. Costco is only about 10% more money and I am tired of dealing with these people. He wanted to put the same tires on their that I had. When I said that would be stupid, those tires are junk. He said I must be driving crazy. read more

I was able to order a specific tire and it arrived within 3 days to their location. They had the cheapest quote of all tire shops in the area for those. Although I couldn't book an appointment, the walk-in wait was on 1.5 hours, exactly as they had estimated. The waiting area is nice. 5 stars because the tires i ordered accidentally weren't fully in stock so I got a free upgrade on the spot, well handled! I have been a customer at one of the tire places very close to Discount Tire for many years and for all my tire needs. But that place didn't want to help me the other day with a full set of unusual (alternate size and style) tires for my Corvette. To their defense, several other tire stores nearby didn't want to help either. However, the folks at Discount Tire did. No problem, perfect service from Adrian and Bill and several other representatives, I don't remember all the names. They installed the new tires and pressure sensors today, replaced one of the lugnut caps, and reset the pressure monitor system. And they are the first tire shop that didn't torque the lug nuts so tight with their air guns that you can't remove them anymore with a regular wrench. Instead, 100 ft/lb, spot-on! I will be back in the spring for another set of tires and take all my tire business to Discount Tires and you should consider them too. Highly recommended. read more

I absolutely love Discount Tire and their awesome hazard warranty. I visit fairly regularly for seasonal changeover and occasional new purchases. I moved to the North Burbs a few years ago, and Mt. Prospect is the only location that services the area. I will say that the techs here are never rude and seem very hard working, but my overall experience here has been less than satisfactory, and quality seems to be diminishing every time I return. Read on if you want to know why I will not return to this location for any reason short of an emergency. Even with an appointment, my average wait time is somewhere in the 1.25 hour range and frequently longer. Watching these guys work, they can swap, balance, and mount tires/wheels in about 10-20 minutes. So the rest of the time I am just waiting for customers ahead of me... something tells me that they overbook themselves. On top of that, their ordering/reserving function online seems to merely be a guideline of how much you will spend for your tires, and not necessarily which tires you are receiving. I do careful research prior to purchasing tires, so I very deliberately reserve the tires that I want. But they always seem to be out of stock, and they always price match a "better" tire. The problem is that just because the tire they want to give me is more expensive, it doesn't mean it's better, and in fact most of the time the tires they try to give me are rated very poorly on online customer reviews (thank goodness for smart phones). It's happened to me, it's happened to a lot of other customers while I was waiting, and it's even happened to some of the other reviewers on this site. The worst incident came the last time I had my winter tires swapped on. It wasn't the 2 hour wait with an appointment that upset me, it was the blatant corner cutting that I uncovered that got to me. I just happened to be working on my car the next day and came to find that that one of my wheel locks was missing, which is effectively the same as having a lug bolt missing (my car uses lug bolts rather than lug nuts). Worse than that, they put on the decorative Volkswagen plastic lug cover in the empty cavity so it looked like there was a bolt in there. Had I not worked on my car, I probably would have gone the entire winter season completely unaware that I was missing a lug bolt. Discount Tire did reimburse me for a new wheel lock kit, which I had to purchase from the dealership, but they made me feel like they were really doing me a huge favor. Worse than that, they tried to convince me that it was perfectly safe to drive around on 4 of 5 lug bolts (again, bolts not nuts), and they refused to refund me the cost of at least 1 of the tire swaps (I requested it on principle!). That was the straw. I guess I'll be heading all the way to Countryside for my next routine appointment. read more

I accidentally went to this place after having been sent to the Arlington Heights location by a family member. My mistake. I guess the Arlington Heights location is the place to go. First, I called for a quote and was quoted $140 out the door for two tires mounted. My mother was nice enough to help me pick the car up. When she payed it was $180, for the TPMS replacement. Ok, I guess so. I wasn't there, so I can't argue. But then I get in my car and the light and flat tire warning is still on. What did that $40 cover? Seems shitty to nickel and dime people like that. They also told my mother I needed two more tires asap, and that it was dangerous. Thank God she waited to talk to me first. Its also pretty shitty to pray on older ladies who worry about their kids like that. Awesome sales tactic fellas. Then today I took my car to my neighborhood Car X for an oil change. While in the waiting room the mechanic had me come out and see the tires. I said, "yeah, I know, I need two more new ones", he said, "no you don't, you just need an alignment." Why wouldn't he sell me two new tires AND the alignment? Because he is honest. Not like these guys. So I agreed, and I thought that was that. It wasn't. I got a call from Car X saying my lugs were torqued on with the gun and that they were stripped. They had to be cut off. (that's the second place I bought tires at that did this, the first was Lucas Tire on Addison and Western, F them too) How do you screw up putting tires on when all you do IS PUT TIRES ON?? These Discount Tire guys wouldn't even change my fucking oil while it was there. Now I'm glad the don't go near the engine. read more

I used to think this place was fantastic until today. I got all 4 brand new tires which they have great prices on tires and they told me howeveri needed new lug nuts too, which I objected because they were more money and I had already paid for the tires in full, but then the sales guy Alex said he would just give them to me since my original quote did not include the need for these. So after they took my car in they broke my lug nut stud. Now if you don't know what this it is the actual rod that your lug nut sits on that holds your tire on. Now most cars have 4 or 5 but a missing lug nut can cause problems down the road. I was informed that the stud was broken, and when I asked about reimbursement they said that this would be on me and they don't reimburse it. I tried very calmly to discuss how it broke while in their care but they claim it would have broken by anyone. I was not asked or informed this was a risk factor which leaves them liable but they still refused to even split the cost of the repairs. They said it is just a $30 fix, well someone needs to educate these employees that it is nowhere near $30 & if you are going to do a job that carries risk of damaging someone's car that you need consent to proceed. I will never return here so disappointed if you can own up that you broke something help fix it. read more

Went and bought 4 "new" rims only to find out they was not new and had been balanced and valves put on called back was told them to bring them back I had my father go cause I was at work only for him to wait 40 mins while they picked them up from another location 15 mins away they was supposed to do that before he go there ! And I called asking for corporates number and was told "I'm the right guy to talk to I can reimburse u gas for the trouble I agreed to only find out due to my father didn't have my credit card they couldn't! I called ahead to make sure they had the tires I wanted and they price matched tirerack.com, which is pretty outstanding since tire rack is essentially a wholesaler to dealerships and local shops. Anyway, that cut $120 off the cost of the four tires I bought. This place beat the hell out of Costco and my local shop and the service was friendly and fast. I had to sit through a slightly irritating hard sell for tire insurance, but then he gave me another discount on the installation.... what a place! I even arrived a little after closing time and they still let me in and sold me the tires. (Maybe they were having a good day?) The work was done in under 5 minutes and, while there's not much rocket science to tire installation, it went flawlessly. Too bad it's 30 minutes away from where I live, or I'd recommend it to everyone I know. read more

They honored their own warranty on two different occasions for me, once to replace a tire, and the other time they were able to fix a tire without replacing. I bought several tires from them over the last few years. They push certain tires onto you because of negotiated special deals, but those are not bad tires. Do your homework if you don't want someone else to make a purchase decision for you, but I am happy with their recommendations. They will service tires (rotation, balance, repair, etc) for free if you buy the tires there. The wait is in fact unpleasant. You will wait longer than they say. However, they were good about taking my car in close to the end of the day. I don't think they engage in shenanigans as some of their competition. This is a good shop with reasonable prices and hard-working folks. Debating between 4 and 5 stars, but in this industry these guys do stand out. read more

I originally had bought my tires from here and had a great experience the first time around. I bought the warranties for them and luckily I did because I hit a nasty pot hole that blew out my tire and damaged my rim. I brought it in to this location and was told the tire would be free because of the warranty but it appeared the rim was beyond saving and I would have to purchase a new one. I did so, paid for it in full, and left. When I came back much to my surprise they refunded the entire amount and said they were able to save my rim after all. I do not know of any sales place where once they ALREADY had your money, would still try and save you from having to spend it. they could have easily just said oh well and kept my money and put the new rim and tire on and never told me. they went above and beyond and I will be a discount tire customer for life! read more

I've purchased new tires here on two different occasions and really have no complaints. They work fast and you get free lifetime balancing and rotation with your purchase. The biggest plus for me is price matching. If you can find the set of tires you want for a cheaper online price (no matter how obscure the website), they'll match it. One thing to note, they'll typically add a few bucks for "shipping" charges that you would normally pay, but you'll likely still win out in the end. I'd highly recommend calling ahead to make sure the tires you want are in stock. The last set of tires I bought were on back-order for several weeks, but they were nice enough to give me a loaner tire for my flat until the new set came in. read more

They gave me a very good price and an additional $100 discount. I stopped in on a Saturday around 4. They close at 5. Had a few guys take care of it and I was out and gone by 4:30. After reading several reviews online before taking my vehicle there I was a bit skeptical. But they came through with flying colors! I plan on using them as my primary tire outlet. Though you have to survive a pretty long line anytime you stop in, the service is great! I was able to check prices for tires online before (which is always nice when shopping around for the best pricing) Plus they'll match any cheaper pricing you find. On a recent trip for tire rotation/balancing, they estimated 45 minutes, but they were done in 30 minutes. The staff and service here is great. Despite the fact that they are constantly busy everyone is so friendly and greets you and throws out "Sorry for the wait! They'll be right with you!" (even the guys from the garage that are just passing through). I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for great pricing and friendly service. read more

I've been a regular of this Discount Tire for over a year now. I went in today to see them about a nail I had in my passenger rear tire. There was a little bit of a wait, but I have the day off so I didn't mind. Justin greeted me, took care of me, was very knowledgeable in his field and made for a overall good time. It was extremely hot outside, the office was under construction and super loud, and it was busy with phones ringing off the hook! BUT everyone was SO friendly with smiles on their faces. Unbelievable service. Milos set me up with a tire rotation and gave me great info for later on. Poor guy was sweating and smiling the entire time!!! He was so sweet. I heard a guy named Scott (i think?) answering each phone call with a smile in his voice. And the young man who brought me my car, I think his name was Cris, shook my hand and thanked me.
