sales clerk was upset i didn't want to buy rims he insisted they were bad with out even looking at them .I went there because of air leaks on all 4 tires and this is an issue i've been having often , now keep in mind this is my third set of tires with them and its always the same issue they don't clean the rims when installing new tires . I used to like Discount Tire , but not anymore. I have a problem with one tire for the past a year or so and they wouldn't exchange it since it's still under warranty, but keep finding the problem (that's what they say) and in a month or so the sensor comes on and I can see also the tire needs air again. Since the location it's not close to me and plus before I needed to make an appointments before coming in, now I have to deal with this tire every other day to put air in. So frustrating, I wish I can get a new tire. I have to go in again so the third time. So disappointed! read more

My tire has had a slow leak for ages but because I'm not going anywhere with regularity, it wasn't a priority to get sorted. I would fill it up with air before I needed to run an errand and then watch over the course of several days as the tire deflated on the driveway. Finally deciding it was an inconvenience (and assuming my neighbors were tired of seeing my SUV with a deflated tire all the time), my husband called Discount Tire. We bought these tires from another DT location years ago, and he wanted to see if they were still under warranty. Good news for me - they were! He called on Saturday afternoon and they offered us several appointment times on Monday, which is basically next day service for a place that's closed on Sundays. We couldn't be there for any of the exact appointment times so we offered to drop the car off with the key in the morning and told them to get to it when they could. Drop off was easy and as distanced as possible. They have a cute little outdoor seating area set up. We didn't need it (my husband followed me there and then drove me home for a marathon day of meetings), but it's a nice touch. All the staff were wearing masks. And we got the call in the afternoon the tire was repaired. They also tipped us off that the front tires were wearing faster than they should. They'll need to be replaced in about 5,000 miles, but they'll also be covered by the tire brand's warranty. Appreciate the staff looking out for us. We'll be back - we have new wheels that we want the tires on. Not a priority for today's visit, but worth a return trip. The customer service was excellent and my car looks far less depressed in the driveway tonight. read more

They have an easy online appointment booking system which is super convenient to see which of their locations have the soonest appointment. Service at all their locations have been great and they try to accommodate you and your schedule no matter what. I'll never go anywhere else to get new tires or repairs. I bought a brand new 2020 vehicle and my dealer said it won't cost less than $40 to patch a nail that was in my tire... I called this morning and asked if they could put new wheels I had purchased on for me. They told me they could do it same day, so I drove over and dropped off the car. Super quick and friend service. I dropped off the car, and they called a couple hours later to tell me the car was done. When I got there, they had taken the brand new tire pressure sensors off my new wheels and put the old ones (that were not functional) on the new wheels. I went to the technician and explained that the new sensors had been taken off and the old sensors installed. First he said the new ones wouldn't fit, then I told him they were already mounted from the factory. Then he told me they wouldn't scan. So I told him I just needed them installed and I could have the dealership program them to read. As I walked away, the technician called me "a p#ssy" in Spanish. I turned around and told him I spoke Spanish, he said he didn't say anything, so I walked back inside. All of the staff saw this happen. Then the technician and all the techs were huddled in the shop laughing. When I got my car back, they handed me the keys and said it was fixed. They handed me back 2 different kind of tire pressure sensors, two of the original sensors, and two of the new sensors. So half of car still has non-functioning sensors. At this point I just left and will take the car to the dealership and have them fix the sensors and send Discount Tire the bill. No manager ever talked to me or apologized for the mix up or dealt with the employee insulting me. Started a great visit, ended terribly. Not too sure what's going on at this location (208 E Rand Rd., Mount Prospect)...I had an appointment with discount tire last week (9/7/24) because one of my tires that I purchased from them earlier this year (2/2024) was leaking air. After they checked out the tire (which has the warranty) I was informed that the tire was in good condition and that it was the wheel (aka the rim) that had corrosion. I was informed that they had cleaned/removed the corrosion from the wheel and that all was good. A week later the air leaked out of the same tire again. This time my son-in-law took the car to the same location. They rechecked the tire to see if the tire itself was leaking (with my son-in-law observing them) and once again the tire is in good condition. They then tell him it's the wheel/rim that has corrosion and they informed him that it looked like somebody just painted over the corrosion last week and never cleaned/removed the corrosion. As a female, I dread having to walk into any place that services cars for anything. Discount Tire is the most straight-forward business when it comes to selling tires, and backing it all up with a warranty. There's no wondering how it all works. I also think tires are the easiest to research online. The guys here are extremely patient. My last visit was exceptional. I took a corner too sharp with my Toyota, and the curb put a deep cut into the sidewall. I have a friend who works on cars, so I immediately sent him a photo of the damage. He told me not to worry, that my tire would not burst. You know what's really great? The guys at Discount Tire told me the same thing, but they did not give me a hard time over replacing the nicked tire for $25. So now I know Discount Tire is honest and also respectful of their customers. What's even better was that my tire was replaced within an hour, despite the fact that they were very busy. My only complaint is that I live in Chicago and it is a pain in the caboose to drive all the way out here to get my tires serviced. One of the guys suggested a different location, but I feel better about coming out this way because I am more familiar with the area. Plus there is a Sam's Club near here. Called day of after running over a nail and was able to get an appointment but they said I could come in earlier and try my luck at a walk in. Upon arrival, they have a touch-less check in process. You scan a QR code and complete the check in process on your phone. They have you wait in your car to limit how many people are in the lobby waiting which is nice. Alex came out and inspected my car and told me I couldn't patch the tire but he'd check to make sure I have the repair/replace certification, which I did. He did try to sell me new tires that I need but was fine when I told him I just wanted the popped tire replaced. These guys are helpful and quick. They have great Covid policies in place. read more

Their customer service is one the beast I've even seen. I had a nail/screw on my tire and I was losing air rapidly. I called Discount Tire and a gentleman named Al picked up the phone. This was yesterday Jan 14,2021 around 4:50PM. He was very friendly and told me that as long as I make it to the shop by 6PM (Closing time) they will take care of our car. We get there and their check in process is just genius, the person helping us check in was also very friendly. GARBAGE TIRES!!! I was looking for basic, reasonably-priced tires for my then 13 year old car, 4-door sedan. Nothing exotic, just something safe and serviceable. I don't drive a lot. I found a brand on their website that appeared good, but they talked me into something else. Now, after just 13,500 miles, two of those "something else" tires are BALD and two others are close. I am guessing they are their house brand: Falken Sincera SN-828. Cost almost $400 for 4. NO WAY tires should wear that quick. I kept them inflated properly and rotated. And not raced. Discount Tire just sells crap tires. You have been warned. read more

Horrible experience...... I checked online for a specific truck tire, the store which is 2 miles away indicated they were in stock. I drove there and after waiting in line for about 15 minutes spoke with the sales guy. He said tires are in stock and that they are very busy so it will be 3 to 4 hours before they can put the new tires on. I asked the sales guy if he was sure the tires are in stock he assured me they are. I arrange for a ride back home and wait. I looked closely at my bill and saw a 167.20 charge for 4 "Certificates". I went on-line and read what this is and it's merely hazard insurance. I went back to the store 3 hours later and the truck was not done yet. I talked to the salesman and questioned the charge for certificates and he explained what it is. I asked him to remove it and he did without any questions or hesitation. 5 minutes later they pull my truck into a bay and were getting ready to put on my tires. A few minutes later a tech calls my name out and asks me to come to the register. He informs me that they do not have my tires in stock!!!! I had asked the sales guy before I left to verify that they had the tires. How can this possibly happen!!! Never thought I would write a negative review about Discount Tire after using them for 15 years - brought car in for 6000 mile rotation and despite 5/32 tred remaining received strong upsell by manager to buy new tires which I declined - 10 minutes later and after overinflating the tires from 33 psi to 41 psi the service technician claimed that the tires were now only 2/32 tred and needed replacement for "safety" reasons. Needless to say, the tred magically returned after I left the shop and brought the tires back down to 33 psi. Run do not walk away from this shell game! read more

It may be the location or the time of day I went my experience was horrible. They lost my wheel lock key which I gave them and made me go buy another one and lost that one too "apparently in the shop". They were missing 2 wheel lock cover which magically weren't there apparently. The manager and associate on 3 separate phone call said they never saw the wheel lock cover. They lied to me 3 time and saying it was never on the car and not their problem, the inspection showed no wheel lock cover ; but magically it showed up and they tried to lie to cover up their tracks by saying it was a different car. read more

Will order tire and will call to come in later that day when tire arrives. Never received call. Either way, I got there at my appointment time and they upgraded my tires to a nicer brand at no additional charge. Plus they had a sales tax free promotion going on so with the warranty on all four tires, I spent $380 for four tires for my Honda Fit. They said it would take 35 minutes to change the tires so we walked next door to Bar Louie for lunch. By the time we got back, my car was finished and sitting out front. Yay! Don't bother with an appointment, you wait in line & so rush to be 1st! Then I was told they only had 3of4 rims only, yikes. The salesman wanted to show me alternate rims, but my price is only what I planned. We agreed on a s/4 rims at $72 each, their original price was $98 ea. Entered at 8am left close to 9:45ish. Buying tires (or anything related to car maintenance) is never fun; especially not fun if you're a woman.However, if you need tires this is the place to go! I picked out tires and made an appointment online about 24 hours in advance. I walked in the morning of my appointment (about 15 minutes early per their website's recommendation) and was helped by Adrian right away. He asked me to come with him as he inspected my car (awesome!) and I was right here as he measured my tire tread, etc. After discussing how many miles my husband puts in his car in a year, I figured that we should invest in some really, really top notch tires instead of the style I had originally chosen...only $300 more than my original online quote, but safety is a top priority. I picked a particular tire and paid the bill (you have to pay before they perform any services) and took a seat as they worked on my car (they said about 45 minutes-hour wait time). After about 15 minutes a technician came in to tell me that their stock was off on the style I chose and they didn't have a set of 4 tires to put on my car. They graciously upgraded me to even better top-of-the-line tires they had in stock...for free! Turn-around time was about an hour. I recommend getting the extra Discount Tire warranty (I only paid $32 bucks extra), so that you have peace of mind knowing that if you pop a tire, run over a nail, etc. your tire is completely covered; fixed or replaced for free. The warranty your tires come with is really only for tread wear, not damages. Free rotations are included with the life of the tires. Highly recommend Discount Tires if you want to pay a fair price without being schmoozed. :) Customer service is excellent, too! read more

Worst experience. Was talked into better tires and replacement certificate.... Only to find when tire did need replacement there is week delay to order new replacement. Of course cheap tires are in stock. Found tire at different Discount Tire location. When I arrived found out this Mount Prospect location has kept rim so I had to come back to same location for install. Ended up driving over 100 miles to Homer Glen and back to Mount Prospect. As I write this I have been waiting over 90 minutes for tire after 100+ miles driven. Several walk in's after I have arrived have had tired installed or replaced already. Car is not even in garage bay yet. Worried they are having trouble finding wheel they kept in the first place. Adding up original install where this location had me wait for an hour only to come back and say tires were not available then 55 mile drive to Homer Glen for new tires.... Plus hour wait last week to find out tire repair not possible...drive to Homer Glen again because Mount Prospect could not get tire.,, drive back to Mount Prospect with tire because they had the wheel.... I am up around 8 hours of tire time invested and counting. And free replace from flat 4 days ago has not started but did get charged $26 for replacement plan on new tire still sitting in my car I'm parking lot waiting for install. The Mt Prosepct location is runned by unporfrossionals. Total a bad experience. They lie and try to upsell you. They denied that I made an appointment, after taking my personal information and saying you can come at 8am as appointment. Once there, they take the car start doing the job and come back saying we need to upgrade, and I deny that I need an upgrade. And after the clerk starts arguing saying they can't do the job, at this point I say well, gonna take the tires and mount them by some other shop, he says it's impossible because the tires are already off. When they heard I wanted to leave they proceeded with the job that I wanted. Just to say, I bought the tires at Tirerack.com, and they recommended Discount tires in Mt Prospect, IL. And they even denied that I had an 8am appointment. Worse experience and frustration early morning because of unprofessional clerks and failed salesmen.
