Went to this store for new tires. Repeat customer, bought 8 sets for 5 cars in the last 15 years. Car shook on highway, noticed two tires with weights halfway around the tire. Took it back and found the tires out of round by alot. They tried to give me a run around, tried to put the bad tires back on the car etc. I had to watch them the whole time. I was surprised that this practice goes on at discount. Update: problem solved, but after 5 Saturday visits I am worn out, no more Discount Tire. I got tires online from Tire Rack, had them shipped from Indiana at 15$ a tire, installed at Firestone. Still saved a ton. Tires were first quality Pirelli. Tire Rack from now on. read more

I have been to this location about 5-10 times now in the past few years, and every time I can say that all the workers here that I have encountered are humble and genuine. There is a nice waiting area, and clean bathrooms everytime I used it. You can tell that the workers here are trained well and care about doing a good job from how they talk to you and treat you to the actual job they do on your car. These guys are proficient at everything tires. They tend to be busy here (probably because everyone enjoys coming here), but it's worth the wait. Just bring your downloaded netlfix shows on your iPad, relax, kick back, and be patient. They send you a text message as well when your car is complete. I recently had bought a new car and less than a week in, it appeared that I had gone over a nail. I went to my Ford dealer to have it resolved, they stated that they cannot patch tires due to their policy. Frustrated, I went to the Toyota store (in the same family of dealerships) because they do patch. When I went there, they didn't take the tire off of the wheel, yet after about an hour, stated they couldn't patch because it was too close to the sidewall. It took them about an hour to tell me it couldn't be done. I asked around, and found Discount Tire. I spoke with Bill, who was more than helpful. He basically ordered another tire for me. There was some mix up in the tire size I needed. I told him the size written on my dealership receipt, after he prompted me to double check, the dealer had written down the wrong size - meaning Bill would have ordered the wrong size. We got it situated and he confirmed my order. I explained my situation and asked them if they could see if maybe they thought it was patchable. He explained everything and how it all works, and it wasn't a problem. I had an appointment, next day, to have it done. I was in and out in about forty-five minutes. Turns out, they did patch the tire. The nail was in the middle of the tire, not the sidewall. I was charged $0 for the patch. I did purchase a warranty for all four tires, for $110. It covers everything, totally worth it! If you need tires or have any tire related problem, see these guys!!! Awesome service! read more

Good accountability and service from this location always, but the last few times in, there is room for improvement. I suspect one of the techs accidentally cut my leather seat with a tool in his back pocket, not positive because I did not notice until later, so I give them the benefit of the doubt and I took that one on the chin and paid for the fix myself. Next visit for a tire rotation, one of my lug nuts gets cross threaded. Full accountability from Discount Tire for the fix so kudos to the team for that, but it is more the quality of the work and the inconvenience of the fix. Discount is paying for the fix but they have to outsource the work which means more down time without a car. Also, I completely understand that with power tools, things like cross threading can happen, but if you are a shop that is really focused on quality care, cross threading is something that is easily avoided by starting the thread manually by hand, then moving to power to finish. Discount, I am one of your biggest fans so please step up the level of quality care so that we can avoid any unnecessary surprises in the future. read more

Listen! They are ALWAYS BUSY! If you want very good service and great prices, deal with it. They are knowledgeable and do good work. If you are pressed for time , want a loaner, or need someone to overcharge you, go to the dealer. With that said, they went the extra mile today. I needed a tire that no one has in stock. They are the quickest and cheapest and said they could get it in one day. They said there was a chance they could get it the same day! They did! Mounted and installed. I called at 8:30 AM for an out of stock item and drove away at 4:00 on a busy Saturday in the era of Covid. Well done. I've been using Discount Tire for years. Always great service in Texas and Arizona. I'm in Illinois now and although the location is an hour from my home I found it necessary to come here because I've always been taken care of. This situation was no different even if not 10x better. The person that attaches my spare jacked it all up. Discount tire towed my car across the street to have it repaired and replaced the damaged lug-nuts and key without question. They were going above and beyond normal service just because that's how they think and it's what they do. Discount tire is a phenomenal!! I bought my tires from them a year ago. They had a rebate program going on & I got a $75 gift card in the mail 6 weeks later. My tires have been GREAT!! I drive a lot and haven't had any issues with them till recently. My back tire was going low every week. I came in and Doug took care of me. He was so kind and explained everything!!! He checked the tires and told that there is a nail in the back tire. He repaired it and rotated my tires. My visit didn't cost me anything. Gotta say their customer service is beyond what I aspected. Their lobby is very clean, smells fresh and they've got a mini sitting area for kids. They have complimentary coffee and water bottles. My wait was about 30 min which was not bad at all. I've purchased 4-5 sets of tires from Discount Tire over the past 10 years. I have found them to be reliable as far as price and service after purchase. Unfortunately I was disappointed while attempting to make a recent purchase of a set of tires for my Tahoe. I had done my research which usually includes checking Consumer Reports top recommended brand and model for my specific vehicle. In this case I wanted a specific model of Michelin tire. I informed the sales associate "Allen" that I'd like to purchase this particular tire and he said it would take several days to get this tire and recommended the Michelin "Defender". I explained I did not want that tire since I was persuaded in purchasing that model during my last visit and I did not care for them. I explained that I wished to go with the "top" recommended Michelin brand as advised by Consumer Reports. Allen was insistent on having me buy the Defender model as said the other Michelin tire I wanted was "garbage" (his exact words) I told him I would prefer to go with the CR recommended tire bc of their well established reputation. Allen became very frustrated and gave me no explanation of why the tire he wanted to to sell me was better or why the one I wanted was "garbage". The fact that I was persuaded to buy the Defenders on my previous visit made me feel like they were be pushed by the company disproportionately than other tires of the same brand for profit margin or rebates back to Direct Tire. Overall, I was not happy with their customer service and felt like I was being manipulated to buy the tires they wanted me to purchase. I will most likely NOT purchase my next set of tires from DT because of this experience and give one of their competitors an opportunity to earn my business. read more

This place has it dialed in!! Extremely organized,efficient & their interaction with customers is top notch. Went in because my work van had a nail in a tire, very slow leak. Customer rep was honest with me, they were very busy and I went in 30 min before closing, he told me I'd be better off coming in first thing the next morn. He explained the check in process for customers arriving before the store opens. I arrived 1/2 hour before opening & true to his word they check everyone in the order they arrived. To my surprise I was not charged for repair, not expecting that. Service tech was friendly & explained everything to me after he pulled my van around to front door. I believe my customer reps I dealt with were Joe & Kyle, both very professional. I own 5 vehicles & will make sure this is the only place I'll go in the future for tires. Very pleased with Discount Tire. After purchasing my car 3 years ago I found out very quickly it was terrible in the snow it was the first car I've had that actually needed snow tires. I went to palatine DT and placed an order for a set of Michelin X-Ice tires which took 3 days to order as there were no tires in my size in stock. (I have a very unusual size low profile tires, no one stocks them. I called everywhere). Fast forward 3 years to present day and early this week I hit a crater on Euclid Rd and blew out 2 tires. I tow the car to the closest DT, which was Mt Prospect and I am fretting about the cost and logistics of having to rent a car for 3 days and be out another $500+ for two tires. The following morning when I am able to speak to someone, I find out, yes, Michelin X-Ice will take 3 days but they can get me Bridgestone Blizzaks this afternoon. Even better, due to the road hazard, I get a discount of $111 per tire! So instead of $205/ tire they were $94/ tire! You can't beat that! I walked out of there with two brand new winter tires for only $250 Installed, I was very pleased. Though I never actually saw anyone in person, all my dealings with them on the phone very very professional and courteous. Highly recommended! read more

I have been here plenty of times in the past. You ALWAYS have to wait. I made an appointment and still had to wait over an hour for my tires to be siped. Waiting over an hour doesn't bother me if they are working on the car the whole time. It bothers me that I had an appointment and my car didn't make it to the back for 30-40 minutes. That is irritating. Also, it's happened to me in the past and friends of mine -- they offer free tire rotation BUT plan on them telling you that they can't rotate them because the tread is too worn. They then try to sell you tires and refuse to rotate if you don't want new tires. On a positive note, they have ALWAYS matched prices for me and their work is solid. If you are buying new tires, I say go here. Best prices. If you are in a hurry or need to keep an appointment time, skip them. read more

OK... what I thought was my "go to" tire place is no longer that. Discount Tires has a deal that they'll rotate tires for free (as do some of their competitors). I was due to have this done AND... ever since my last visit there some time ago, my air pressure light has been malfunctioning. I wanted them to fix that. Two expectations - rotate my tires and fix the tire pressure indicator so it works. So the service person walks out to the car with me to get some info. Checks the mileage, tires etc. On the way to the counter, he stops at a tire chart and starts to explain what levels my tire tread is at. One of my (not all that old) tires is in the yellow "caution" zone". As a result they won't rotate my tires back to front - only side to side. Mind you, anybody can rotate their own tires - but without a lift at home it can take an eternity. So their "free" offer to rotate tires comes with conditions - basically it's a hidden upsell scam. So much for "no hard upsells" as I had noted in a previous review - this way is just as bad. As for the indicator issue... when they finish with my car, another service person comes up to me and says that the pressure issue looks OK and that once I drive for a bit, the light will go off. I told him, "that's what I've been told before, but it doesn't - the light blinks when you start the car (like a lot of dashboard lights sometimes do), but it stays on." He says, "well maybe it's an issue with your battery." Afterwards, I went to another place to get some different work done on the car - the guy there asked me about the tire light and I told him what I was told at Discount... his response - "some of these people will make up anything." Bottomline - I went there to get two relatively simple things done and NEITHER of them were completed to my satisfaction - and what I was asking wasn't very demanding. Epic fail. They keep a star for the previous credit on my blown tire, but they've lost a customer. read more

What's especially fun is that I was already driving on my spare tire and as I walked to my car from a long day of work I could see the sad, droopy rubber of yet another flat and I got that "here we go again" knot in the pit of my stomach. I had brought my car to Sam's Club because I had a slow leak in my tire, thinking it was a nail. They told me the sensor was leaking and had to bring it to the dealer. I decided to go to Discount Tire. I went on a Wednesday at 3pm and there were just a handful of customers there. I was helped right away, they brought my car back, and came out to tell me the sensor needed to be replaced. I paid the $65 and it was fixed in 30 minutes. I spent no more than 45 minutes there. It was very convenient. I did also purchase their lifetime warranty for $67 on my Nissan Rogue. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs their tire repaired. Very professional. read more

Can't recommend them highly enough. Called ahead yesterday because I knew they'd be busy and wanted to make sure they had my tires in stock. Because it was going to be an hour and a half drive, they checked me in by phone so i'd be higher up in line. Once I got there, they realized that they were one short of the promised tire, so they gave me the next higher value tire in my size - at the same price! these guys are really nice, almost too nice... so sometimes I am a bit weary of it since I'm not used to people being so nice, especially at a place that deals with cars. Everyone has always treated me very well at this shop and they give pretty good recommendations and will help to accommodate you whenever they can. they also have great prices on tires and will price match competitor prices and even tirerack.com's prices too. I got another flat yesterday and I went in this morning to get the tire replaced (since I have their tire replacement warranty, which btw is awesome!). I replaced another tire with it since it was also starting to go bald and I was out of there within 30 min. people aren't usually sure whether or not to get the tire replacement warranty, but at about $23 per tire, it was well worth it. I've had 3 tires replaced due to flats over the last 3 years and I buy Michelin tires so they aren't cheap to replace. read more

Let me preface this by saying I dated someone that worked at discount tire for quite some time and its a great company. With that said, I called ahead to see if they had time to get my car in. I had a small window of time to get my tired checked out. They told me it was no problem and to stop by. I arrived and found out there was a nail in my tire. After explaining that I HAD to be somewhere in an hour, I was told it would be a close call to be out in an hour. 50 minutes later when I needed to leave, they pulled my car into the bay. I tried to stop them and they told me "well they just pulled your tire off". I'm not happy. Luckily the finished my car in 10 minutes and there was no charge but I was definitely late to my appointment at 1pm. read more

I got a flat on one of my original tires, and I stopped in to see if they would fix it. The guy behind the counter came out to my car, at which point he noticed that a previous flat fix on that tire had been a plug. He gave a lecture on the perils of plugs, and refused to do any work (I asked for a little air) or to even examine the tire further. Instead, he brought me inside to try to hard sell me 1 (though he recommended 2 or more) tires. I then drove to the dealer, who fixed the tire. Car is driving great, and I saved $140. read more

In 2015 I was told that they will repair any tires even if bought elsewhere. It seems like so nice, sounded too good to be true, and sure it was. Any time I brought my car to repair a tire, they said it is not repairable, either too close to the side wall or some other story, and I get it repaired at the gas station for $15 and used the tire for another three years. Then I was told that if I buy a new tire from there, throughout the life of tire I will get free repair. That sounded good, so in May 2016 I brought two brand new tires. Last week it had couple of nails. Took it for repair they said it cannot be repaired at all. At my request they put the spare tire, but without my knowledge, they removed the tire from the rim. (I went back to the store they said, the tire is unsafe and that why they removed the tire. I got it repaired at a private place for $20, and took it to discount tire to put it on, they said the tire is unrepairable and unsafe. They wont install it, but will give $84 credit for 2 tires, as there is enough tread on the tires. He tried his best to sell the new tires. They said if tires are 6 years old they are no more good. I asked him why you sold me 2014 tires in 2016. If they had stock they will do it. All this sounds very unethical and line of business which benefits them at the cost of the customer. The tires I brought tires from the Toyota dealer in 2015, and they sold me 2015 tires, today those tires are much better than the tires I bought in 2016 from Discount tires. I told the customers there that they say they will repair for the life time, so that they will get you in the store and sell you new tires. Even though it looked cheaper, in the long run it was a great loss. I will never go back to Discount Tires again. read more
