My tire pressure sensor in my car went off and after determining it was a slow leak, I decided to drive on over to Discount Tires on the east side of Pearland. I passed up the other location because it's always so chaotic and busy there. This location always seems to be chill and relaxed and the people working here are great. Frank came and looked at my tires and though I had the original factory tires, he said they would fix the problem tire free of charge if repairable. I knew it was about that time for my first set of new tires for this car and decided to look at that option as well. They did not try to say my tires were needing to be replaced, but gave an honest assessment that it would be needing to be done in the somewhat near future. I decided to go for it and was very pleased with the prices here. I also opted for coverage on the tires which covers any blowouts or flats for the lifetime of the tire. Peace of mind is always the way to go. I received a text once we started the process giving an estimated time of completion and what part of the process my vehicle was in at all times. They completed putting four new tires on my vehicle at the exact time promised. When does that ever happen anywhere? This particular location is my go to whenever I need new tires or a rotation. The staff is always friendly and they are willing to work on your car even if you pull in 5 minutes before closing. In the past I've had issues with lug nuts being cross threaded. It's happened at this location as well as the dealership. When it happened at Discount, they gave me a voucher to get it fixed at a local mechanic which I appreciated. My tire pressure sensor light came on and I knew something was wrong because I had already gotten air in my tires earlier this week. The moment I parked, one of the employees greeted me. He checked the treads on all of the tires and explained that the front tires were pretty worn. He recommended for me to replace two of them due to the treads, but stated they could try to patch it if I didn't want to buy new tires. I appreciate him not pressuring me into purchasing new tires. We discussed a couple of options and he pulled up prices before deciding on a pair of Continental tires. They had already pulled the car into a bay as we were discussing the options so I didn't have to wait long. Within 30 minutes, I received a text message stating my car was ready. I was slowly losing pressure in one of my tires, so I came by here to take a look. I just did a walk-in appointment, and it seemed like most people did too. I came in on an early afternoon on a Tuesday, and it was still relatively busy. I didn't have to wait too long to have my car tire checked out. I think the total time I was there from when they first took a look at my tire, to when they actually changed it out to a brand new tire, was probably about an hour and a half. I was very pleased with the service here! Roman was the guy who looked at my tire, physically removed it, and rolled it out to show me where the nail was, which was on the side. I appreciated that so much. I also liked how they were not pushy at all with me having to buy tires from them specifically or which type of tires to buy from them. He did a great job explaining to me what tire he recommended, and he was very honest and genuine with me. I went ahead and bought a new tire from them for the convenience. Once I speak up after standing around one brave man decides to help just to mansplain after I tell him I have a nail in my tire as if I didn't know what a nail in a tire would look like. Used to think very highly of this place. The past two times I've come here have been a major disappointment - with the exception of one employee, Eric, who noted that there was a screw in my tire when I came in for a tire rotation and balance. However, the employee who handed me my keys (after they were finished with the rotation and balance), was confident that was nothing in the tire. Not knowing too much about cars and blindly trusting someone not to lie simply because they're the professional was enough for me to easily overlook the tires in detail. About a 1 to 1 1/2 weeks later, I noticed I was getting a considerably much lower mpg than I should've been, and decided to double check the tires for the screw. There was a 3-4" screw horizontally embedded in the shoulder, so I made an appointment for the next day. Apparently this location of Discount Tire thought exposed wire and several inches in diameter was okay for driving (never mind the fact that I have a certificate on all four tires). Another Discount Tire looked at it and immediately felt it was a safety hazard and agreed to replace the tire containing the repair that isn't a safety hazard. Thoroughly disappointed. I came in today (1/5/17) to get new tires since yesterday (1/4/17) one of the employee: Nelson inspected my tires and told me that I needed new ones. I took Nelson's advice. Also, the manager gave me a price list of 4 set of tires would cost. The price given weren't affordable, but rather $300+. So, we (dad and I) researched cheaper tires that we bought online and scheduled an appointment. When I arrived to my appointment on time and specifically asked the employee: Marcus to place my old tires in my trunk and he agreed he would. I patiently wait 30 minutes for my car to get serviced on. Finally, she (Betsy) is done and I pay. Now, Marcus gives me my receipt without the charged price. I leave. 20 minutes passed, I return because when I turn my wheels I hear a screaming noise coming from the car. I take it back up to Discount Tire because I never heard that sound in the past. First, Marcus meets me outside and I tell him about the issue. He agrees to test it out. I wait again. 5 minutes later, Hernandez tells me the reason why it makes that sound. He tells me it's due to the brake rotator and bearing. That these two need repairing. I ask him, why does it make that sound now and not before? He says because I now have new tires and the old tires I couldn't hear it then. I said OK. I leave. When I get home, I checked my trunk to see if they put my old tires in the trunk as I requested. They failed to do so. Also, they charged me the roadside fee without my notice nor if I asked for it because I didn't, so that's why my bill was over the price I wanted. They do things like this because they know they are dealing with female customers and it seems as if they enjoy to take advantage of. My dad called back up to Discount Tire and the employees told him the blunt truth about everything--stuff they didn't bother to tell me. Guys that work there are nice mostly young kids tbh but when I went to go get my tire replaced because I had a nail in it, after waiting over 2 hours came back and noticed my sensor was still on for needing air in my tires, asked the guy if he could fix it he said oh it'll go away eventually, it's probably been less than a month and now my tires back to being flat. Definitely a place who don't value there customers. When you walk Ik your just another generic face to them. Setting appointments with them doesn't mean anything. Walked around to get some assistance with my appointment and got told to go to the back of the line by a rude older black man and wait for service. What's the point of making an appointment if I'm just coming in to go wait in line for a service for who knows how long. Just really goofy customer service in my opinion. They attempted to fix...but left the store with 48 psi in one tire, 32 psi in one tire, 30 psi in one tire, 31 psi in the last tire....this was checked at another Discount Tire Store. I am sure the tires are out of balance, Tech had a really bad attitude...needed to find another job, he really did not like the one he has... Today was the first time I ever did not make an appointment and went in. there was only 5 people in the walk in line ahead of me. I arrived at 4:30 and waited about 5 minutes to talk to someone. No big deal. I purchased 4 TPMS sensors as mine had been out for a while and I drive a lot so it is nice to know. an hour goes by and everyone that was in the store before me is gone. I had 4 people behind me in line that got serviced before I did. I'm not an expert, but usually when you have a nail in your tire. You don't make an appointment to get it fixed right away. Maybe. Who knows. I watched 9 people who got there after. Leave before me and my truck entered the shop at 6:20. I was already frustrated. I was the 3rd to last person to leave after they closed and I had been waiting in line for 2 hrs already and my truck hadn't been touched. it was supposed to be around 30-45 minutes before I was out. I finally got in my truck at 6:45 and left. I want to say I am very disappointed I was put behind other people. Appointment or not. Great place for tire services. Ever tried to change a flat or do any maintenance around the wheels and find out your lugs are damaged or really hard to remove? Check your lug nuts aren't stripped because someone might have used an air or battery powered impact wrench. In which can damage your lug nuts and over torque your wheels. If I could honestlyrate my experience with this location today it would definitely be a zero(0). Inquired on arrival was an appointment needed or necessary for service and was told no. It wasn't until I had swiped my card that I was made aware that the wait time was 2+ hours. After observing another customer who was irrated of being told the same thing only to be told that the wait time was more like 3+ hours. I then asked to speak with the manager (Robert) expressing I had the same concerns as the previous customer. Robert Was RUDE! And ask if I would like for him to refund my money.
