My wife went here to check the front right tire. They put air into it. Today while going to the bus stop, we heard a bad sound. I checked it and discovered that the right front tire is missing 3 bolts! That is a major safety issue! And they didn't see it and notify my wife. Went to get air. The girl didn't put any of my valve caps correctly on. 2 out of my four custom valve caps are missing. The other two were barely placed on the threading. What the hell. I've used Discount Tire for a while and generally expected better, especially after having excellent experiences at another location: the store at 3701 NM-528, where the staff treated me with respect, explained everything clearly, and were transparent about what I could expect in terms of warranty credit. Unfortunately, this second location did the opposite and completely lost my business. At the 3701 NM-528 location, they inspected my tires, walked me through the tread measurements, and based on their calibration, I would have received better credit toward replacements. The only issue was that they didn't have the tires I needed in stock. Since I already had an appointment at a different Discount Tire that had the tires in stock, I went to the second location expecting comparable service and a consistent experience within the same company. Instead, the tone shifted immediately. Their calibration/measurement came out differently, so I was offered noticeably less credit than the first store had indicated. When I tried to explain what the other location had told me, I was met with a condescending attitude, as if I was confused, wrong, or trying to argue my way into a better deal. Rather than acknowledging that there might be a discrepancy between locations or even taking a moment to check, they talked down to me and made me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. The whole interaction felt less like "we're here to help" and more like "you're wrong, we're right, take it or leave it." The contrast in customer service between the two locations is night and day - the 3701 NM-528 store was 100x better in terms of professionalism and basic respect. I did what I needed to do to get tires taken care of, but I won't be returning to this second Discount Tire location, and I won't be recommending it to friends or family. read more

I had an experience that I need to share. On August 10th, I called to get a quote for a tire, which was $255. I ordered a tire that was not in stock and was told they would call me when it arrived. I put down a $25 deposit. Two weeks went by without a call, so I tried calling the location twice but didn't get an answer. Finally, on September 2nd, I decided to call right when they opened to ensure someone would pick up the phone. A representative named Jeremy answered, checked my order, and said, "Wow, the order must have slipped through the cracks. Can you come in? We can get it done in about an hour." He didn't even apologize. I brushed it off and said okay, let's go get it. When we arrived at the location, they asked for my number multiple times before finally telling me that my total would be $498! For just one tire! When I placed the order, they quoted me $255. The employee tried to explain the additional fees and charges, but I insisted that I should only pay what I was originally quoted after waiting almost a month. Which was accommodated. However the wait was not an hour! It was three hours. My advice would be make sure they are not overcharging you with fees and additional bells and whistles!!! I will stick to big'ol tires. It's always easy to go to this Discount Tire location. The guys are always pleasant and i'm in-and-out within 45 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. The last two times I've had to visit, there was no charge, and I was able to get the answers I needed. No hasstle. I took my wife's car in for a tire rotation and balance. I'm waiting and, like the last time, I see one guy at the computer and THREE guys looking at the same computer. I also see one guy just standing behind the counter. I thought he was going to help, but all I heard from behind the counter was that "we'll be right with you". Here we go again, I thought. Not 2 minutes later, here comes a worker. We walk out to the car, he does his thing and then Im blown away. Before I knew it, my car's coming in. 2 guys team up on it and before I know it, my car is done. Im happy with Discount Tire, not for the waiting while they stand around, but to the guys in the garage who kicked butt. KUDOS to the working ones. Joey helped check me in and he was professional. Until tire rotations and balancing can be treated like instant oil change (sit in your car), think of it as time at the DMV. It's a sad waste of time, but seeing how hard this Discount Tire works, makes the burn less painful. Yesterday morning the light for tire pressure went off in my car. I took it in after work and they 'checked' my tires, give me air. Go to today. My back passenger tire has a bulge. The first Discount Tire in Rio Rancho sent me on my merry way yesterday with it like this and I noticed this afternoon when getting gas. Went to a different location and the manager was like, umm..you hit a pothole and have a leak. I don't know how the other store missed this but you need a new tire. It's pretty big and obvious. I don't recommend the Rio Rancho location as when I ordered my tires, they didn't get them in and gave me a different brand. If you go, visit the one down the hill off of 528. Excellent shop! I have been using Discount Tire for more than 30 years for all of my family's tire needs. We recently moved to Rio Rancho and had the opportunity to use the Discount Tire on Unser today. These guys are real pros! They are actually a lot better than the Discount Tire shops that we had been using in California for over 30 years. Right now we are still under Covid-19 lockdown so I expected there to be long waits and glitches in the process, but there was no such thing, the experience was excellent, professional and timely. I had purchased the tires at the Discount Tire website, which was fast and easy, then I set an appointment for two days later. The next day I received an email notification that my tires had been delivered to the Rio Rancho location, which I like because it reassures me that they ar on the job. When I arrived (5 minutes early), there were orange traffic cones in the parking lot to only allow you one way to go in, then there is a sign where you stop your car and wait for someone to come out to check you in. That only took one minute for an employee to come out, I told him I had an appointment and he told me where to park and wait inside the car for an employee. It took no more than 5 minutes of waiting in my car when an employee knocked on the window, I out out and verified my information, that took 1 minute, then we went inside because even though I had prepaid on the website I still had to show my drovers license and credit card (which was clearly stated in the website so I was ready to do this) and then sign the POS terminal to approve the sale. Now they told me that it would be ready at a certain time, so I sat down in the waiting area. The seats are all very well spread out so no one is closer than maybe 12 feet from you so I felt comfortable waiting there. As I sat there I calculated that the total wait time from the time of my appointment would be 1 and 1/2 hours, not bad considering that in California I never got my car back in less than 2 hours (I always make an appointment ahead of time, yet in California the people who walk in without appointments are also walking out in 2 hours, so making appointments there is useless in the 30 years that I patronized those shops), but wait there is more! At precisely 45 minutes from the time of my appointment, the manager came out to tell me that my car was ready and being pulled up to the front for me, he checked to see if I was happy with the service and asked for a rating from 1 to 10, which off course I rated them a 10 since they got me in and out in 45 minutes! That is the fastest that I got 4 new tires in over 30 years and probably the fastest ever! I really am impressed. The place is super clean, quiet, the WiFi worked perfectly well, the staff is professional, they are fast and they have good prices. I have written a prior review for Discount Tire on Juan Tabo and how pleased I was with their service. So this week my truck (which hardly gets driven) got a flat tire as the tire had dry rot and I was stranded on the side of the road. AAA to the rescue to change the tire (thank you N&Y Towing). Neither Sams Club or Costco had the tires I needed in stock. So I called Discount Tire and spoke with Joey. Not only did they have the tires I needed, I also had a choice of 6 different price points. Joey also found a phone charger for me to use while I waited as my phone was dead. Now it was a Saturday afternoon, they close at 5 pm and it was already almost 2pm. I did have to wait but you know....that's the way it goes. By 430pm I was on my way. The shop guys worked their butts off that day. Am I happy with my purchase? You bet I am! Great customer service all around. Thank you Joey and all the guys in the shop. I will be back to Discount Tire in the future when I am in need of tires again. read more

I stopped by yesterday for a pressure check. Was told I had a screw in the rear right, but it had not yet affected the pressure. They said they could take care of it but the wait would be 2+ hours or I could make an appointment which I did for today. I checked in and specifically asked that they make sure the psi was at 36. I was early for my appointment but because of their line, they check me in 10 min late. No big deal, but the red flags begin. Upon pick up, I ask if the psi is 36. I was told there was a nail in both rear tires. Guy says he will go ask, and I watch him walk right out onto the lot to check in another car. Wait! What? I had the keys in hand, and just drove to the back where the air check station was unmanned. I waited 20 min. The line was building behind me. Two cars left because they couldn't wait. Another customer came to my window and said they told her that they had several cars to check in before servicing us- RUDE! I got out and checked my own psi. I had 36 on the right and 32 on the left. WTH? I decided to fill my own tires. 2 seconds into it- two employees popped right out to finish it up. This tells me: 1. Safety is NOT a priority, or they are intentionally setting one up for imbalanced wear. 2. When a screw becomes 2 nails, and only 1 tire was worked on hence the 32 psi- they lied. 3. Maintenance customers are second to new purchases. My last visit to this location was just as bad. How could they know that I was a mechanic in the Marines? Screw me once, shame on you- but twice- all my fault. I immediately called a retired lady that I know had a leak repaired there last week so she could go get her tires rechecked elsewhere. I have noted how they like to upsell to mid to older women. Just my observations and poor experience (again) at Rio Rancho Discount Tire. read more

I took my car to Discount Tire for tire balancing. The service guy took one look at my tires and said that they were so bad that they could not be balanced and needed replacement. As I had only 20,000 miles on the tires (Pirelli P Zero's) I was somewhat surprised. I asked if alignment was the issue and suggested that I should probably have that checked before purchasing new tires. He said that an alignment should be done with new tires installed. I took the car to Albuquerque Tire to have the alignment checked. It was absolutely correct with no adjustment needed. The tech there said I had another 10,000 miles or so left in the tires. Further research indicates that tire wear is irrelevant when doing an alignment and that worn tires can be balanced. Generally, Discount Tire has treated me well. This particular service guy was obviously trying to sell tires from the moment he looked at my car. Hopefully, this was a "one-off" and not a new normal business practice for Discount Tire. read more

Brought my car in a couple days ago for a low tire. I was told there was a screw in the tire. Not in the sidewall or somewhere it couldn't be repaired. Today 9/15 I brought it in for the repair. So disgusted with waiting for over 2 1/2 hours for this, then to get the spiel of well...you know...if it's in the sidewall we can't fix it and you can apply for our super high interest credit card. I have been a regular, consistent customer at this location (Unser and Southern) for a very long time and never had an issue until now. I went in for a tire rotation and the tech or guy at the counter, after checking my tires, told me it was time to get new tires, pointed to their chart...the US highway says thus and so, I know the routine. In the past, the guy at the counter would just tell me to keep an eye on my tires because your getting close to needing to replace them, I'd say ok and then next time buy a new set of tires, I have a routine. I hadn't experienced any issues with my tires (which still had plenty of tread on them) and purchasing a whole new set of tires, AT THAT MOMENT, wasn't on my list. But his pressure sell game was strong. He then asked me if I was willing to buy at least one tire, lololol. If my tires are really that bad, like you say they are, what is buying one new tire going to do for me? I wasn't giving in and I could tell he was annoyed with me which made this whole thing, for me, very uncomfortable. I mean all the questions, "do you drive a lot?" "how far is your job?" trying to justify the fact that I need to immediately replace these tires. At the end of the day, all I wanted was a tire rotation. That same day (earlier before my tire rotation) I had an oil change at a tire/mechanic shop that also deals with tires and they didn't mention anything about needing to replace my tires. Anyways, it was subtly implied (by another guy at the counter) that this will be my last rotation and next time I will need to buy a new set of tires. Actually, sir, this is my last visit. I would rather pay for my tire rotations and more for tires in exchange for a comfortable/friendly experience. read more

John is a real piece of work. He did not tell me that he was having the guys rummage through my truck to get my spare out. They had to remove my work setup to do that, and it hasn't been the same since. I can only load 3 cases into my trunk now rather than 5 because there is a block now, which doesn't allow me to push my cases all the way back. When I got upset about it, he tried to tell me that he told me what they were going to do. I absolutely hate liars. If I had been informed of what they were about to do, I would never have allowed that to happen. I waited in my car for an hour after my scheduled appt. time. No one came to my car to have me drive into the bay. I received two text messages for two diffetent people (Rose and Liz) that stated that my car was ready to be picked up. My name isn't Liz or Rose and I was still sitting in my car, waiting to drive into the bay for service to begin. I called them and they said that I wasn't checked in, didn't have an appt. and wasn't on the waiting list even though Vince had checked me in and I received an appt. confirmation email previously. I went inside the store and tried to get someone's attention to get helped. I was ignored. A service tech walked towards my car and I went outside and told him that I was inside, trying to get help. As I was walking to my car, to drive it to the bay, I heard the service techs mocking me. They were saying, "I was trying to get help" in a very sarcastic tone of voice. I have been a patron of this location ever since I moved to Rio Rancho and I have always recieved great service. The guys are friendly, knowledgeable and do not try to hard sell you. However, I really felt that my experience there last week should be shared. After a couple of months of unemployment, my son had started a new job across the street from Discount and drove over something in my car as he pulled into work. Before he could park and call the tire was flat. A friend took me up there, we put a little bit of fix-a-flat in there, got it up off the rim and pulled it over there. Even though it was nearly closing time, Sean got my car in. I was really hoping they could fix it under my warrantee, finding myself financially embarrassed and two weeks to a payday. But, I started freaking when Sean told me it wasn't fixable. I told him I was dead broke and that I didn't have a credit card. He sent the tech off to get the tire and told me not to worry and that I would be driving home in my own car. When I again stated that I had no way to pay for it, He reassured me that I didn't need to worry about it. He said we're replacing the tire, and when you get paid on the first, come in and pay for it then. I was simply blown away. Here I was, the last customer of the day, it's past closing by now and here was Sean and the tech coming to the rescue, smiling and never making me feel they were anxious to get me out the door. I don't know where Sean hides his cape in his uniform, but he was indeed my superhero. I have seldom seem that level of customer service. Sean deserves a raise, a promotion and possibly a parade. What I dont expect is when I arrive to pick up my vehicle, an additional half hour past the 1:40 minute estimated time, is to be treated so rudely by Joey. I cannot say enough good things about Discount Tire and the incredible team that work there. My husband found a screw in my tire last night. I took the car to Discount Tire today after seeing all the great Yelp reviews. Not only did they take care of my tire quickly without an appointment, but the assistant manager, Sean, went out of his way to reassure me about the tread left on my tires. I'd previously been told that the tires on my 11 month old top of the line Nissan Rogue were wearing quickly because they were tires that gave a softer ride, not tires that gave long tire life and I should expect to replace them by 30,000 miles. Sean looked them up, checked the tread, said they were barely worn and were well rated tires. He also gave me an estimate of how many miles I should expect to get from them. The screw was removed, the tire patched (or whatever they do to them) and I owed nothing. Not a thing which shocked me! They're the tires that came on my vehicle when new in July 2017 so they weren't bought at Discount. What a wonderful surprise. We will be back as soon as one of our two vehicles need tires, that is for sure. We will also recommend this business to everyone. read more
