This place never disappoints. I recently made an appointment for a tire rotation online. They were obviously busy with other customers and vehicles, but I got checked in within 5 minutes, and car was ready about 45 minutes later. Par for the course at this Discount Tire, I can't recall ever waiting longer than I expected. Tires are very competitively priced, they offer free rotation and balancing for the life of the tires. And I highly recommend purchasing the protection plan for additional coverage. Gee whiz, I ran over a nail again. Low pressure alert light came on and I made a decision to put air myself at Costco vs. going to Discount Tires. Well by end of day on my way to a dinner event my light came back on. I called AAA and they saw the nail. But instead of having then patch it (which only lasted one month last year) I had them change to my spare donut while I enjoyed the party. The next morning I went on their website and scheduled an appointment at12pm. Was surprised I was able to get same day appointment on a Friday. I arrived about 11:55pm and waited until 12:05 pm in the scheduled appointment line. I was fine with a 5 minute wait and when they called my name they handled my flat repair right away. The attendant said it would be a 45 minute and that's better than some having a next day appointment. Knowing I would have a wait, I walked to nearby dry cleaners. I turned and cleared a few emails and my name was called (less than 45 minutes!). No paperwork as they were able to patch my tire and no charge. The Poway location is a shorter drive for me and the Poway location is less crowded (though the wait times are about the same), but I prefer going here because the customer service is waaay better! On my most recent visit, Flyn was my salesperson. We discussed what I needed, and subsequently he was able to get me back on the road at a great price. I ran over a nail. I brought my car into Firestone and they looked at the placement of the nail and immediately said they would not be able to patch it (for $30+). I took my car to Discount Tire, they explained to me about the placement of the nail and how it could possibly be patched, they'd know once they saw inside. Not only were they able to patch it, they did it quickly and for free. What a relief! They even told me about all of the other free services they offer. Really bad service. I had to speak with 5 different people from beginning to end. Tires did not arrive, I kept calling to see if the tires were there. I missed my 10am apt. When they called to tell me the tires arrived, I came, The person that helped me said I no longer had an apt and it would take 2 hours because I was a "walk in" Had to argue to get it done. I had a very disappointing experience at the Discount Tire in Carmel Mountain, San Diego. I ordered 4 tires on Friday, Nov 7th, 2025, and was told they would arrive on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The tires didn't arrive, and there was no communication at all from the store. I had to repeatedly call and visit in person just to get updates. I was then told the tires would arrive on Monday, but when I came in, I was told there was no appointment and that I had to wait another 3-4 hours by the store representative in with attitude. After installation, I checked the DOT codes and found that 3 out of the 4 tires were more than 3 years old, with no disclosure or notice before installation. For a set of tires that cost more than a grand, this is even more frustrating. Selling old tires as "new" without disclosure is misleading and unacceptable. I expected honest communication and quality service, not poor coordination and aged tires at full price. This is the second time this store showed dishonest and unfairness in their business, several years ago they damaged my other car when installed tires and lied about it Anyway, just need to warn other customers about this business. read more

My husband and mom had gone to Discount Tire (Peñasquitos) with good results, so when I had a flat due to 3 nails, it was my go-to. ORDER ON-LINE OPTION I ordered the tires on-line (discounttire.com) in the comfort of my own home, which gave me time to research and compare tires, features, reviews and prices. I was impressed by the ease of use of the web site. Simply enter in your car make/model/year, etc. and it will tell you which 'good/better/best' tires are recommended with prices and features. This prevented me from turning up clueless at the store and buying under pressure. TIRES WHILE YOU WAIT When I got to Discount Tire, (driving on my spare after getting a flat!) I parked, then waited in the 'Walk-ins' line. It was maybe a 7-10 minute wait. The merchant walked with me out to my car, got the mileage and some other info and then back in the shop, he completed my order and told me it would be about an hour. I sat in the waiting room and read a magazine. It was more like a 35-40 minute wait, but about an hour from when I first entered the shop. (Keeping in mind I'd already purchased my tires on-line). POLITE STAFF All the staff I encountered were very polite, informative and seemingly honest. One merchant was recommending used tires to someone on a tight budget. POPULAR It was quite busy with all bays full and customers coming and going on a Tuesday. BETTER THAN A PREVIOUS TIRE ESTABLISHMENT I BOUGHT FROM I previously used a nearby 'membership big-box store' for my tires and didn't like the experience at all. Discount Tire was a faster, smoother, more pleasant experience and I'd definitely go there again. Don't forget to ask for your AAA discount or use Rakutan for on-line purchases. read more

I never leave reviews. My car was working fine. All they did was put two tires on and rotate. Now it is vibrating, unbalanced, tire light on and it is pulling way off. How do they not notice that? Had to come back, late for work, loosing money. Plus I bought those tires here new and they said they can credit the life of the worn tire but they didn't credit anything. She wrote a review two years ago about her experience, no response and nothing has changed. How about full disclosure to all your customers on what the numbers mean? My tires were wearing evenly with a reading of 4 ,first thing I hear is I need new tires. That is not even close to accurate. I asked if that was yellow according device he was using, it was. The salesman could suggest coming back in a couple months to get the air pressure and tread rechecked. What does the 4 mean and when does it really need to be a concern. Some research below. Service is extremely good here. David the manager i think leads a clean store, recognizes lines and checks them in when possible, repairs are great and walkable fast food is nearby. 9/26/25 - to the two employees who helped me in the parking lot today THANK YOU SO MUCH. I rescued an owl off the side of the highway and was able to safely bring it to ProJect Wildlife for medical care because these two employees helped me find a box. I was unable to go inside anywhere because I had my dog with me. I was panicked and worried. They immediately listened to me and helped. Went to get air in my tires today. The guy filling my tires asks if I knew the back right tire was from 1998......this makes no sense as I bought the car in 2014 and had all four tires replaced on it. I've since had those tires all replaced at discount tire in Santee. And had two new ones put on again in Rancho Penasquitos. He then checked my spare tire and it was flat. I explained to him that all my tire replacements have been at discount tire and he then stated "well do you get your oil changed?" With new tires needed for my sedan, I was excited to see if Discount Tires could replace and install new ones. I shopped around and noticed they were not the least expensive and are on the higher price point due to the higher installation fees. Nevertheless I attempted to use them and did call in 3 times for verify if I could walk in and get the installation done in a reasonable time. Here is where the process fell apart. Upon ordering and being shown a timing of 1.5 hrs by Sergio I discovered this timing was bogus. The time for the walk-ins are in a sisphyian loop where my time slot always gets longer as smaller walk in jobs or appointments get honored. After waiting the 1.5h, which was the initial time to complete, I checked in and was told they currently had 6 jobs ahead. A second agent said it would take an hour. That's when I knew the shop doesn't have a grasp on the situation. All bays being occupied they completed 5 cars in the 1.5h I waited. Another 6 and more and I would be mindlessly end up wasting my day for a premium price. All I did was drive to the a further location and at a cheaper price had the work done in a hour with no fuss. I got up yesterday morning to a back flat tire, had a screw in it. I called another tire store closer to me and they couldn't fix it till late in the afternoon. I called Discount Tire and they said to bring it in, they could take care of it. So, I blew my tire up with a portable air machine I have and drove down. They checked me in and it didn't take much time at all for them to have it fixed. THEY DID NOT CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIR!!! They just hope I buy my next set of tires from then. I am writing to formally complain about my repeated experiences at Discount Tire located at 3135 Midway Dr, San Diego, CA 92110. I have purchased tires from Discount Tire with the clear understanding--based on their advertising and sales assurances--that tire rotation services are included. However, every time I visit this location to have my tires rotated, I am met with the same discouraging response: I am told there will be a four- to five-hour wait and that there are "50 people ahead of me." This response is given immediately upon arrival and appears to be used consistently as a way to discourage customers from using the tire rotation service that was promised at the time of sale. This has happened not just once, but every time I have attempted to have my tires rotated at this location, including my most recent visit. The message is always the same, regardless of the day or time, creating the impression that the service is intentionally made difficult or inconvenient so customers will give up and leave. During my most recent visit, I was additionally told that my tires could not be rotated due to a so-called "technical issue." This limitation was never disclosed at the time the tires were sold, nor was it explained clearly or transparently beforehand. Had this restriction been communicated upfront, I would have made a more informed purchasing decision. The combination of: Excessive and repeated wait-time claims, A consistent pattern of discouraging customers from using included services, and Undisclosed limitations revealed only after purchase has left me extremely dissatisfied and frustrated as a customer. I believe this practice is misleading and inconsistent with the service commitments advertised by Discount Tire. I am requesting that this complaint be reviewed seriously and that corrective action be taken to ensure customers receive the services that were promised without unnecessary obstruction or misrepresentation. I came in with a nail in my tire and instead of being offered a simple patch, I was pressured into buying four new tires and windshield wipers. I ended up with two new tires, but had to return three times due to mistakes made during the service. They refunded 19%, but that doesn't make up for the inconvenience or poor treatment. As a woman, I left feeling taken advantage of and disrespected. I also emailed the manager and never received a response. I cannot recommend this shop. This location is always super busy but everyone is so efficient that it feels like you get in-and-out quickly. I talked to Gary today. I went in to get my new tire fixed up because it went flat for some reason, turns out my rim is cracked! I didn't know what that meant and he took the time to not only explain it but to help me through it. He took that tire off my hands to send it out to a place to get it replaced so I wouldn't have to drive that distance. He was so kind, respectful, and compassionate and as a young woman I have never been treated as kindly as Gary has today. My mama is a single mother and I am the eldest daughter to two younger teen sisters, I am finishing up my second year of college and help with the majority of bills in the house and the cars. Just wanted my tires rotated and on two occasions had the employee respond, "I would just leave them the way they are or consider buying new ones." I bought the tires at this store for both vehicles and the tread was not that bad. Should I trust them when they bark out some numbers off their company "scanners" telling me my tires are unsafe?
