Unfortunately I made the decision to give a smaller business my business. I went to Ron's Tire in Ramona and needed 4 tires for my car. The tires that were recommended were in stock so instead of waiting, decided to go with those. 14,000 miles later, I was back in their store. My tires were almost bald and in need of replacing. At this point I was told these were a special tire and do not come with a warranty. They cost over $1000.00. I was offered a deal to replace them with different tires for over $900.00. Recently I had extensive work on my F-350 at Ron's Tire and Brake involving the front end. They diagnosed and estimated the cost on my 16 year old truck to a tune of $1,700. All this was to correct something know to a few that know Ford trucks as, "The death wobble". When they completed the work it was better, but not like new, and the symptoms soon resurfaced. I had to return it. Now is when you find out about the integrity of a business. I have been doing business with Ron's for 25 years, and because of that was concerned to hear the management was changing. As it turns out I had no cause for concern because even though my problem was off the charts unusual Marshall took it on himself to find the solution. It is said that you really don't know anything about someone until you have a problem. I have never done a yelp review but this one is deserving. If you take a nice car to "Ron's tire and brakes" you will get incompetence and rude service like the owner doesn't care about their customers or business. I took a 125,000 dollar jaguar to them for rear tires and I got it back with the powder coat ground off through to the metal on the rims! It looks horrible! I pointed it out to the tire guy and he said that's how the weights stick! I showed the lady that owns the place and she said I can spray some grey primer on it. Than acted as if I'm picky but does nothing! It's clear they need to sell the business to someone that has a clue to what they're doing and actually cares about people and customers. Without them you have nothing! I will never go back! I will tell everyone in know and show them the job before I go get the rims redone. read more

They also checked the othet tires and found uneven wearing. So they did a rotation and checked all the air pressures. Got a bolt in the tire of the car the other day and Hubs stopped by one of the other tire places in town to see if it could be patched. Although the other guy only had one or two cars, they said it would take at least an hour before they could even look at the car. Came here and the receptionist said it would take 20 minutes before someone could look at it, but someone came out before the car was even parked. A few seconds later, the tire is off the car and getting checked out. The bolt hole was way too big to be patched, but within forty minutes from the time Hubs pulled into the parking lot, he was already back home with a brand new tire. Super fast service and very reasonably priced. Will definitely go here for our tire needs from now on. read more

I bought 2 tires and an alignment and the nice lady showed me how to reset a low air sensor using my owners manual. Not the cheapest tires but awesome service! read more

I have had Rons replace two of our vehicles tires over the past year and a half. My wife's truck was first. About a month after they changed the tires I attempted to do a brake job and was able to remove two of the wheels but the last two had been over tightened with an impact gun . I was unable to remove them so i took the vehicle back to Rons. The lady that works there argued with me that they do not use an impact to tighten lugs nuts, they use a torque wrench. She was yelling at me saying she was not a liar etc etc. Their employee had to use a 48 inch breaker bar to remove the lug nuts!! Obviously she was a liar as this just proves she was full of it. Today I had a flat on the side of the road in my vehicle. I had Ron's replace the tires three months ago. I once again was unable to remove two of the lug nuts and actually broke my lug wrench attempting to do so. Had to walk 2 hours back to work as no one was available to come get me. I will be paying them a visit to get a new set of wheel studs for my car as they were all over tightened (yielded and plastically deformed) I strongly suggest you avoid this place like the plague! They do have good prices on tires but they do some very terrible installation work! read more

Alignment skills escape Rons Tire and Brake. Took a simple 71vw in for alignment. Took back the next day because I could visually see the front tires were cambered out of whack and handled poorly. They said I had too much air in tires and realigned. Picked it up again and still handled poorly because the tires were deflated almost flat. I redid the alignment in my driveway and saw that the tech did not tighten the tie rods. Seriously? Send car out with flat tires and loose tierods? I guess I will not go there for other vehicles. Excellent service! This is the second time we have pulled in here with an emergency. The first time was with a puncture in 2011 and it was fixed promptly. This place will NEVER get their hands on either of ours cars. They offer a "Budget Truck rental" service. My husband and I were moving out here to Ramona and reserved a truck with them on line. We arrived to pick up the truck and they not only didn't have the size we reserved, but they didn't have a single truck to rent us. All the owner had to say about it was "Well I don't know what to tell ya". So we left and found a U-Haul that he said was down on the other side of town... two blocks down is not the other side of town. I wouldn't do any business with this rude man if my car broke down right outside their building. I'll rather pay to have it towed to a different shop. read more

I had them replace all five tires on my warmblood horse trailer a few years ago. I have weird sized tires, but they had the tires in stock! They also checked the brakes and repacked the bearings. No problems. I recently needed new tires in a hurry on another trailer. I just stopped in and they had me back headed out of town in probably less than 20 min. Had some tires and wheels mounted on my truck. Was told that my oem TPMS would not work on my other rims. Frustrating but I understand that this can happen so I gave them the ok. I was charged $84 per sensor. When I got home I ran the part number and found that the sensors are going for $41 each. That's more than a 50% mark up. Brand and part number are Smart sensor 17-43011 for those that want to verify. Needless to say I got taken and now I'm back to questioning if I even needed new sensors. I will say that the staff is friendly. I would not recommend this place. read more

Took our VW 1990 classic Westfalia in for a simple switch of the tires on the GoWesty (Mercedes) mag wheels, so the tires' inner edge would be on the outside. Better wear pattern. But they scoured two of the four mags, one very badly, and neither will polish out. Will we go back? Probably not. read more

I went into Rons tire the other day because one of the tires on my wifes car finally popped and on every Volkswagen each tire has 1 nut that has a locking key made terribly so unless you have an impact gun it makes it almosy impossible to take it off, I went to another tire store first because it was closer to our house but they weren't of any help and actually kind of rude so i took it to Rons and the lady who helped me was amazing, very friendly very understanding and was just going to take the nut off and put the spare on free of charge, I ended up buying 2 tires from them and wil be going tomorrow to get them put on, the gentleman who did the physical work was very knowledgeable and took the locking nut off put the spare tire on and even checked the rest of the tires. Hands down a great experience and will be taking my jeep there when it needs new tires. read more

Truly awesome service! I had a tire leaking air & a baby shower to attend. I stopped at another tire shop and they said the wait was at least an hour and $20. I asked the guy if there was another tire shop in town and he mentioned Ron's Tires. I hurried over to Ron's Tires and they were so helpful. Took my car right in, fixed my tired and I was on my way all within 10 minutes or so and only it was $15!!! It seemed like a very friendly, family owned buisness. I went to this shop as it was the closest one to the ranch. We had a cow down in our pasture and we needed to upright her ASAP. Our tractor developed a flat, so off I went to Ron's tire. When i arrived, there was only one customer being helped and a few guys standing around in the back. I explained the emergent situation that we were in to the lady that greeted me. She said 40 minutes and just walked off. I was just left there standing and felt like I was just brushed off. I will not visit this establishment again. You would think that in an emergent situation a local shop would be glad to help. Not so much. All we needed was a 15'' tire reseated and valve stem replaced. It took Country tire down the road less than 5 minutes to get it done and did it for free. read more

Living in the country, I have gotten countless nails and such in my tires, they fix them with a smile and usually there is no fee.
