Drove in this morning on my spare with a nail embedded the "grey" area of the flat (near the unrepairable side region of the tire). My tire set is about 5 years old with 35k miles and assumed the flat would be declared unrepairable and I would get the hard "upsell" pitch to replace all 4 tires. Tech said he would look at it and came back 30 minutes later with the tire patched, wheel balanced and spare tucked into storage. Went to the cash register to pay and was told it was free. *DO NOT GO HERE FOR TIRE REPAIRS* GO TO BELL TIRE ACROSS THE STREET I came here last year after getting two nails in two separate tires. I was told one tire was repairable and the other was not. When I asked to see the "unrepairable" tire, I was shocked--they claimed a nail in the center of the tire couldn't be repaired. That made no sense, since the center tread is actually the best area for a plug or patch. They then said that while shaving the inside of the tire to apply a patch, they found exposed steel wire. They blamed the nail, but the nail wasn't nearly thick enough to cause that. I pointed out that the wire was showing because they shaved too much rubber off. Their response? "We need to shave it down to assess whether it's repairable." So they shaved my tire until the steel belts were exposed, then told me I needed to buy a new tire. Convenient. This was a one-year-old tire. I ended up having to buy a replacement. When I asked to keep my old tire, they were oddly reluctant, but I eventually got it back. Fast forward to this year--I get another nail and return because the tire I bought from them was still fairly new. Once again, they say it's not repairable. I asked why. The technician said their square internal patch was too big and would slightly touch the sidewall. I asked if they could trim or modify the patch--no. I asked if they used tire plugs instead--also no. How does a tire shop only have one repair method? I then pulled out the tire they shaved down the year before (which I still had in my trunk) and asked the technician if that tire was repairable. He immediately said, "100%--that's the easiest spot to patch." I laughed and told him that this exact shop told me last year it was impossible. He looked shocked and brought it to the manager, who also agreed it looked repairable. They tried again and came back claiming it couldn't be repaired because there was "wire next to a plug." Tires do not come with factory plugs, and I never plugged that tire myself--nor did Discount Tire ever plug it. When I looked at what they called a "plug," it was clearly just rubber. At that point, I had enough. I asked them to put the tire back on with the nail still in it so I could go home. Guess what? I plugged it myself with zero issues. Bottom line: Discount Tire told me--twice--that my tire was "not repairable," and both times they were wrong. This place just wants to sell tires. Save yourself the headache and go across the street to Bell Tire instead. read more

Went there to get new tires, they did all 4 tires the next day heading out on a family vacation when I got on the expressway something was off my car was vibrating very badly had to turn around and go back to the tire place. When I got there they said my tires were not balanced properly and they had to rebalance them..this shouldn't happen when they specialize in tires.... Not a good experience. read more

I had a 3pm appointment but arrived early due to an out of town family emergency. I had an emotional breakdown when speaking to the service man about the incident. I explained with tears in my eyes that I had to head out of town ASAP to be with my family. He prioritized getting me out of there very quickly. They all were so compassionate and professional. Now i have to to wait 2 hours to get a slow leak checked out, which will compromise my work day. Manager Tyler agrees that they have problems with communication from their website. I've bought tires from them in the past for other vehicles but not for the new car yet so I expected some kind of charge for the repair. Bought a set of Cooper Tires from here over a year ago. The price was fine and the tires ride fine. My issue is, I asked if they could smooth the corrosion from the inside of the rims, as the car is 10 years and the previous tires leaked a little. The serviceman said it'd be no problem. They put the new tires on and the guy informed me that they attempted to smooth them but there was too much corrosion. He recommended me purchase new rims. I declined. I began to have leaking issues with all 4 tires almost immediately, in both winter and summer weather. The leaking was so bad that I've left the house multiple times to find tires completely flat. I've also had a tire go completely flat at work, on a cold snowing night which made changing the tire not possible and cost me an uber ride home. I finally took the car to a local mechanic to check for punctures or other issues. Within an hour he informed they were full of crap when they changed the tires and they never attempted to smooth the rims. He did it for me and the tires have not had any issues since. As I said before, the tires were fine and the price was fine. I don't do business with people who lie to my face however. I will not be recommending them in the future. read more

I kept losing air in one of my tires and I am beyond used to people taking the easy way out (and charging me more) for things that may not have been necessary but they actually care and offer practical great advice. They were able to assist me quickly and offered a quick and effective fix for my car. This is our go-to shop for any tire needs: flat, repair, purchase new ones, etc. We bought a new van last year and had a screw in one tire. Brought it in and this shop repaired the hole for free. They quoted us on some all-weather tires since the ones that came on the van when we purchased were not going to get us through another Chicago winter. Well, the weather quickly got nasty and I called today, the day of our first bad "snowstorm", to follow through on getting the new tires on the car. They happened to have them in stock, squeezed us in on this super chaotic day and here I am waiting for my car- THREE HOURS after they "closed". I spoke with Josh and Jason on the phone before coming in. They were so kind on the phone explaining they know the storm's coming and they'll stay as late as they need to in order to make sure everyone's safe out there. How awesome of a shop! Also, not that this pertains to tires but I think it's so awesome. They're supporting No Shave November and have it proudly displayed on the counter where customers wait.
