My 7& 9 year old have been to the discovery cube twice on class field trips but always felt they did not have enough time to enjoy it. I finally had a day off work and was able to take them on a Friday. They had the ocean encounter and Scooby doo event simultaneously which we got to enjoy as well. Lots of different learning activities that were interesting for the girls. Their favorite place is the shopping mart. When they told me about this place before, I thought it was just a market like Pretend City where you buy things and put it in the cart. To my surprise, they have different missions that always teach you how to be an eco-shopper or healthy shopper. I really loved the education tired into these activities. As an adult, I loved this area as well. My second favorite place was the recycling center game. It definitely brings out the competitiveness in all of us. I found out that I was a terrible garbage sorter LOL There is definitely room for improvement. My 7 year old enjoyed the dinosaur exploration area. She enjoyed looking for items with the digital scanner you check out at their store desk. We learned a lot of fun facts and got to enjoy the nice outdoors without being too hot. The touch pool was fun. We got to feel the sharks and sting rays. The ocean encounter exihibit was nice and peaceful. Lots of information about preserving our oceans. I enjoyed all the lantern ocean mammals hanging in the sky. Very nice. Scooby doo area was a nice play for photo fun and discovery mysterious. Girls enjoyed the different activities they had there. I finally had a reason to check out the Discovery Cube that I've been driving past on the 5 freeway all these years. My family visited from out of town so we wanted to take them to some kid-friendly spots to entertain my 3-year-old niece. It's right next to the freeway, so finding it is easy but their parking lot is small. We arrived around 11 am, which is an hour after they open, and their lot was full. When that happens, you are redirected to the lot across the street and that's just a short walk. It can be inconvenient though if you are with multiple children. I was surprised at how big this place was. There is a downstairs and upstairs area, so we spent the entire day there. They had exhibits explaining some science and physics concepts in a fun way children can understand. What surprised me was the interactive grocery store that focused on teaching kids how to read nutrition labels and another area that explained recycling methods. I actually learned some things in that area about recycling hazardous household items. There is another area next to the gift shop downstairs where you can pet stingrays and small sharks. The upstairs area was my favorite! It's an ocean theme and had a bounce area for the kids. Outdoors is the Dino exhibit and their animatronics were such high-quality. There is a cut dig site where each child receives their own bucket to find fossils. They had a Scooby Doo pop up exhibit where you have to solve a mystery and there are clues throughout to help you. I got to make my own sandwich there, which was fun. I appreciated all the hand sanitizing and water filling stations to help keep our hands clean and our bodies hydrated. They do have a small cafe inside in case you get hungry. I had the tomato, pesto, mozzarella croissant sandwich, and it was actually quite good! It was toasted and had good flavor. I knocked it one star because we came across a few exhibits that didn't work or stopped working in the middle of us using it. Awesome place to take children there's a really cool dinosaur attraction in the back with an animatronic dinosaur and triceratops. There's a lot of cool science related things like designing your own race car and testing how fast they can go around certain tracks. It's a little chaotic with how much kids were there and just my son kept getting his race car taken. They also have a recycling garbage truck station upstairs where you can play a game where you sort different types of trash, which is great cause my kid loves garbage trucks also a market where you can have them go on the scavenger hunt looking for specific items. At first I thought this place felt a little disorganized, crowded, and a bit outdated, BUT my daughter LOVED every bit of it and by the end of the day, we all ended up having a lot of fun. Tip: a lot of the school groups are there early. We were there all day and by 2pm, it really cleared out and it was nice to still have 3 hours with a lot less people. I took my first grade class here on a field trip & it was incredible. The staff was friendly, & our tour guide (I feel so bad I forgot their name) was so great with our kids. There is so much to do & the facilities are clean & welcoming. I also like how it's all fairly contained; we have 36 students in our class & with our chaperones I felt totally safe. We visited the discovery cube for the first time with our 4 year old daughter and our 1.5 year old son. My overall assessment was that I would give this place 4.5 stars which rounds up to 5. While i can see why other yelpers gave the discovery cube less than 4 stars, my son and daughter loved this place and were thoroughly entertained and engaged for hours. For a place like this caters to young children the enjoyment of my kids ranks highly when it comes to the overall review. Parking - they have 2 parking lots. It was easy to pay and park despite having to park in the overflow parking across the street. Food - I found the food to be decent overall all. The pizza and the burgers were good. We also ordered a cheese toast that was just satisfactory. However the prices were great. We were able to get 2 burgers, a personal pizza, a cheese toast, and a cookie for $40. This is a great price for these types of attractions. Water - they have several water refill stations thru out the facility. Aesthetics - as others have mentioned this location could use some remodeling. However I didn't feel that the overall aesthetics took away from the enjoyment of the kids. It's more something that adults would notice. Staff - overall the staff was helpful and kind. For such a large place I felt that the amount of staff was limited. My only negative comment regarding the staff was that the lady at fish tank was quite stern while enforcing the rules of the aquarium. Perhaps she was having a bad day but I felt she could enforce the rules while being kinder. I think that some of the activities could have been better organized especially during busy days. On the flip side the lady at the front desk was really kind and helpful when we asked about memberships. Membership - we ended up getting a yearly membership since we learned that the cost of admission for the day could be credited toward a membership. Additionally they had extra discounts for first responders, educators, etc. Fun and games - this place has something for everyone. Such a great find!! You cant miss this place we saw it from the freeway and said we'd check out and so glad we did has so much cool stuff for kids and even adults! This place had so much for our kids to be entertained for HOURS! There is so much to do--two stories of perfectly categorized/separated/themed activities complete with an outdoor dinosaur exhibit. For how busy it was, I felt like the spaces were clean and well-organized. They even have food there, which we did not visit, but in case you wanted to make a whole day of it you totally could. Your kids can "shop" for items in a cool grocery store, watch a movie about the anatomy and physiology of the heart, see sea life in an indoor aquarium, play with several physics inspired displays, climb on indoor climbing areas, and so much more. We like it so much we ended up buying the family pass so that we can come more often and if you get the pass, you should purchase the parking as well and if you end up bringing a friend or two, you could buy a companion pass (up to two), about half the price of a regular pass. There is a food court. I've only eaten there once the food is good with kids friendly menu. Right now they have the bubble fest which is an additional cost $15 per person. It gives you one ticket to the bubble show with melody yang a professional bubble artist, along with access to the bubble area by the exit with different interactive bubble activities, which is a lot of fun and my daughter enjoyed it a lot. My review is on Bubblefest. How has the lady, Melody, performed this show for 30 years and not figure out how to blow bubbles to the left of her? My kids were on the floor, on her left side, and as I was in the stand all I could think to myself was "How the heck does she only blow bubbles on one side". I've driven past this place hundreds of times, always saying I would stop, and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. What I will say is that this place is not in the same vein as the California Science Center in Los Angeles. That venue is generally geared toward elementary- to middle-school-aged students, and adults can certainly enjoy the experience as well. I was originally very skeptical of this place, because it was priced pretty high for a children's museum! It was $22 per kid and $25 per adult and under 3 is free. But after spending the day at this museum, I can understand why it cost a little bit more than other children's museums that are only $10-$15. I thought the museum was very well done. The exhibits are super interactive and educational. The exhibits are also well kept and big, like the dinosaur section that had massive dinosaurs, as well as the scavenger hunt to find the dinosaurs and a sand pit! And this is only one of the rooms in the entire museum. There was also an ocean room where the kids could play on a submarine and do a bunch of crafts as well as get into a bounce house. Tons of cool artistry and blow up animals as well as educational stewards around teaching people about things. And there was also a touch pull downstairs to keep going with the ocean theme. There was a shopping center where you can do a little scavenger hunt for food, there was a recycle game where you can also learn about recycling as you play a game, a race, car section where you can learn about different types of force, earthquakes simulator, and all sorts of other little activities for the kids to get into around the whole museum! We came on Labor Day weekend, so it was pretty freaking busy, but they set up a bunch of tables around the museum for kids to do extra arts and crafts, which helps spread the crowd out a little bit more and made it feel less overwhelming. We also noticed that the upstairs was much less busy than the downstairs because there's so much more to do for the kids downstairs has fewer exhibits, except for the dinosaurs outside. The one super difficult thing is the parking! We got there around 12 PM, which was actually a positive because the lot was originally full in the morning, but it was now open again, because people were leaving from when they came early at opening. We weren't able to find a slot in the parking lot next to the museum itself, but we went to the overflow lot and found the spot quickly. But I honestly think we were just lucky! When we came at 12, there were a lot of cars driving around in circles looking for parking and we just happened to find one when we moved to the other overflow parking lot. I'm not sure if you come early in the morning! Maybe it is a bunch better than if you come at 12 PM. Either way, be prepared to fight for parking a little bit if you come later, or you're not one of the first people entering the museum. My kids probably could've stayed till 5 PM which is when it closed, but I was tired, so we left around 4:15 PM. At that time the parking lot was pretty empty. Service was really good! All the workers and volunteers were very kind to the kids. I would definitely recommend this as a good activity for people with young children. read more

There were quite a few people there, and admission was about $22 for kids and seniors and around $25 for other adults. They also offer discounts for military and educators. There were many different activities for kids to explore. A lot of the exhibits were focused on rocks, gems, and minerals, and they even have a store where you can purchase stones and souvenirs. There were also hands-on areas like touch tanks with fish, climbing and rope activities, and educational exhibits about the human body, including information about the heart. My friend's granddaughter had a wonderful time -- she was running, jumping, laughing, and really enjoying herself. For me, it was just okay, mainly because it is truly designed for young kids. We arrived around 3:00 PM and stayed a couple of hours, but I would recommend allowing at least 3 hours to fully experience everything. There are so many exhibits here because it's a two story building, and some outside exhibits also. It feels kind of underwhelming and not worth it especially the coffee !!! The coffee situation isn't great very watered down and lacking flavor. I tried the blueberry cold foam latte (the Scooby-Doo themed drink), and it honestly did not hit at all. The cold foam wasn't thick or creamy like you'd expect it was more like thin, airy foam that disappears immediately. The drink itself was really watery and tasted like it was rushed or poorly made, which was a letdown because the theme is actually super cute $6-7 coffee you'd expect better Overall though, the place itself is still really worth going for kids. As of now, Discovery Cube has been fantastic for my children. There is so much to explore, learn, and enjoy, and overall we've had a very positive experience. That said, I do think some areas could benefit from a bit more volunteer supervision, particularly the Build Your Own Car section. There were moments when children would take cars that others had built without regard, which made it difficult for everyone to have a fair chance to race their car. A little more guidance in that area would really help keep things organized and enjoyable for all kids. I also recently visited over the weekend with my children for the solar system exhibit and wanted to give a special shout-out to Kevin, one of the volunteers. He was incredibly sweet, accommodating, and genuinely hospitable--his kindness really stood out and made the experience even better. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same experience with all volunteers. One volunteer (I didn't catch her name) very abruptly asked me to stand up from a chair my children were sitting in, which felt unnecessary and discourteous. This is a space where volunteers interact closely with both adults and many children, so patience and a welcoming demeanor are especially important. Overall, we truly enjoy Discovery Cube and appreciate the learning environment it provides. NEEDS CROWD CONTROL, PLEASE!!! I'll get to the many positive aspects of this place, but seriously, the crowd is a deal breaker for many people, and I hope they could address this. This was our first time here, and I had purchased a membership beforehand only because the price made sense, but to be honest I regretted going there at all because the crowd on a Saturday was insane. There has to be some limit to the crowd because no one can have fun when there are that many families with young kids crammed in an indoor space. This place costs way too much to be walking out of there regretful at the end and having to drive an hour home. Now the positives. The staff was all very nice and friendly (except the one lady at the sea star tank who was yelling at people). But really, there was a good amount of staff who all spoke very kindly and wanted to help. The food was small but decently priced and YAY FOR VEGAN options! Big kudos for the vegan options, even with their yogurt parfaits. However, forget about it in the afternoon - the line was so insane that we were starving later on but there was no way to get any food. :(. The Bubblefest show was great. Honestly this is probably the only reason I would come back here given the crowds. However, the bubble play area afterwards was an insane crowded mess. I was heart broken when my super excited 2 year old was running around wanting to do play with the bubbles, go on the boat, go on the bounce house, but the lines were insane... she was so sad. ;( when we finally got a chance at making the bubbles with the tubes at the table, there was no more bubble water left... one of the other parents went to go ask the staff to refill, but it didn't come quickly so we had to move on. We learned about headphones that museum has to use if needed and we were able to get sitting that my kiddo was comfortable in sitting through the show. If you're coming here on a holiday beware that it may be insane. We got to the parking lot ten minutes before opening and the line of cars was out on the street. It took 20 minutes to get to the parking kiosk and they let us in... but we went around and there were no spots. So we had to scramble to figure out where the second lot was. There are no signs anywhere and no attendant inside the lot to help direct people. We had to stand in a second line at the second lot.l and walk over in the rain. It's ridiculous that they don't keep count of the cars that fit in their lot. Could have saved a good hour. It seemed like there were a bunch of young kids running the place and no management. I even called their number as I was driving to find the second lot and the person on the phone wasn't helpful either. Once we got inside a couple of the main exhibits were closed and the lines were so long for every single thing to try. My 3 year old was having a really hard time. We left a bunch of lines after waiting for a while. If you have two adults one can wait in line perhaps. Also there was one single bathroom next to the robotics exhibit and the other ones were far. Definitely not enough with the number of young kids that were in there. All in all this was not the best experience. Lots of cool exhibits but we didn't get to try much before over simulation kicked in. Do not come on a day that might be busy. Unfortunately some exhibits are only open on weekends so if you come week days to avoid the crowd you'll miss exhibits. I was considering getting a membership before but probably won't after our experience today. To the management of this place: you need to prepare better for busy days. read more

This place was so big and had so many interactive spaces with completely different themes, it was fun to venture through. The race cars were awesome, various tracks and learning how they work, the pull your own weight section was cool, my kiddo thought he was soo strong, the outdoor Dino area was fun with all the facts, bones, sand to dig, the glow in the dark sea area was amazing and really thought out. the paper planes were cool, kind of a mess with all of the throughout the day and the propeller thing was stuck, but overall a cool idea and the escape room, we did that a couple of times, so much to see. We had my daughter's 10th birthday party here. It was a Saturday so it was a mad house and lots of folks had to park across the street. But everyone had a fantastic time! Kids and adults alike. Our party hostess Helena was wonderful and helped us with anything and everything and guided our time the way she knew from experience was best. I thought my kiddo might be getting too old for the Cube but she already wants to have her party there next year too. I really appreciated that since we had the early party we were able to store leftover food in a fridge while everyone got to spend the rest of the day at cube. Staff was super helpful and the exhibits were really fun. I became a member because it saves you 10% on parties which in my case was almost the value of the membership itself. So now I'm looking forward to going back on a week day in hopes of a more laid back experience. But really, even with the crowd everyone had such a fun time! 100% recommend. read more
