I truly appreciate the two teachers who stood by the gates each morning greeting the children. They made an effort to comfort my daughter, and I am very grateful for their kindness and support. They were amazing. However, I was not as happy with her classroom teacher, Mrs. R. I often found her messages confusing, and at times it seemed like she had too much on her plate to properly focus on my daughter or communicate clearly with me. One situation in particular concerned me. My daughter came home and told me that her teacher had tossed her hand sanitizer. I reached out to the teacher to ask what had happened, and her response was, "Yes, it was leaking all over my other students. Thank you for asking." While I understand that the sanitizer may have been leaking, I felt that the response was dismissive, especially because my daughter was one of her students at the time. As parents, we work hard to purchase supplies for our children, and I would have appreciated a more considerate explanation and communication. When I decided to withdraw my daughter from the school, I specifically requested that all of her school supplies be sent home with her. Unfortunately, they were not returned. This was very upsetting because parents spend their hard-earned money purchasing supplies for their children, often trying to provide them with the best they can. Another major concern was the one-hour wait to pick up my child. Having to wait that long to pick up a kindergarten student was extremely draining and added even more stress to an already difficult situation. Overall, I am grateful to the staff members who made an effort to comfort my daughter, especially the two teachers at the gates. However, based on our experience with communication, the handling of my daughter's belongings, and the lengthy pickup process, I ultimately felt that the school was not the right fit for her.

This morning, Callie accidentally left her laptop at home, so I brought it to the school around 9:00 AM. When I dropped it off at the front desk, the receptionist Mellisa mentioned that she "might be able to get it to her." I assumed she was joking, so I left it with her. Later in the day, I found out that Callie never received her laptop. When I returned to the front desk, I expressed that if it wasn't going to be delivered to her, I would have preferred to take it back with me. The receptionist mentioned that she thought it was for homework, but in fact, Callie needed it for classwork during her last period today. I also want to note that this is only the second time Callie has forgotten her laptop, yet the receptionist claimed it had happened three or four times, which is simply not true. I was disappointed to hear an inaccurate statement about my daughter's track record, especially when it could impact how she is perceived. I wanted to make you aware of this situation because it caused Callie to miss an important class activity. I understand everyone is busy, but I hope we can ensure that items critical to a student's classwork are delivered in a timely manner in the future and that communication remains accurate and respectful. Thank you for your time and understanding. Sincerely Jaylene . P

This is a safe and clean school and it shows by how engaged and respectful their students are. This is the first school I have experienced with a "no cell phone policy." This is huge! There are no cell phones allowed during school hours, so there are no distractions in the classroom or on the school premises. As a result, students are totally engaged, respectful, and device distraction-free. How refreshing! Acclaim Academy offers a clean environment. This is also the first school I have experienced with cleaning and custodial services being performed throughout the entire school day from start to finish. The halls, classrooms, and restroom facilities are fresh and spotlessly clean, and the grounds are well maintained. This clean and distraction-free environment enhances learning. Acclaim Academy also reinforces responsibility. This could been seen in laptop charging stations being wheeled from classroom to classroom, essentially following the student with their assigned laptop, rather than students grabbing any laptop from a stationary charging station that remains in each classroom. As a result, the laptops are in excellent condition because each student is responsible for their care. Acclaim Academy's administration and faculty are dedicated and excellent to deal with. Classrooms are orderly, students are eyes-front and engaged with the teacher and lesson plan at all times. It was a pleasure filling in as a substitute teacher.

When I asked how he knew that, he replied, "I looked it up on the internet." That was in November, so early in his Grade 2 year.
