The series is precipitated by the knowledge that I will be moving out of Fullerton next year, which already gives me a sense of loss. So let me tell you why Morningside gets all my stars, and a piece of my heart too. Presumably, if you are reading this entry, then you are a local parent in need of juggling a job and childcare, and, so, are considering Morningside. You might be a new parent feeling some anxiety about giving their child over to teachers and staff who they don't know from Adam. I know that I and my wife did. We made calls. We did site visits. Read reviews. But prepare and research as we might, the idea of handing the kids over--literally passing the children over the safety gate to the Toucans' Class--was something that we managed to keep at a distance until the day came. Now, looking back on that day, which happened years ago, I realize that what I was doing was handing our kids over to some of the most caring, loving women I possibly could, ladies who consistently kept the well-being of our kids at heart. Unlike so many yelp reviews nowadays that rate a business without even patronizing the business, this review is written by someone who has sent two kids through Morningside. To learn to care so much for kids who are, in the end, not your own kids, presents challenges that I've not even fathomed. It is easy to get grossed out when your own kid throws up or soils their diapers. It is difficult for me to contain my anger when I see one of my kids throw objects at the other with intent to harm. I challenge you to take a full minute to imagine the patience and compassion required of you to tend to these and other needs of *other parents'* kids, say, when that other kid gets diarrhea or when he bites you on the forearm. Teachers at Morningside succeed on this score. This is one reason I insist that Ms. Katie and Ms. Katrina, Ms. Erica and Ms. Kay, Ms. Kathy and Ms. Heidi, Ms. Julie and Ms. Amanda, Ms. Jenny and Ms. Kelly get all my stars and, yes, a piece of my heart too. Because they continue to love and care for my kids, and because of how they do this. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

As a former Montessori student, this school stays true to the Montessori method of teaching. There are plenty of hands-on learning materials that are age appropriate from 2 years old in preschool to 7 years old in K-1. The kids are able to learn at their own pace and enjoy an environment of collaborative play and learning. Every child of mine who entered preschool had their initial episodes of tears and crying in the first few months. But the teachers at Montessori of Brea are so kind with their loving voices, gentle nudges, and guided redirection to help the children focus on their learning and forget about the separation from parents. Ms. Kim was our preschool teacher for our first 2 daughters and is currently teaching our 3 year old. Our whole family LOVES Ms. Kim! When my two older grade school kids come to pick up our baby, they ALWAYS have to come to give Ms. Kim a hug! She is caring, loving, and has great communication with parents at drop off and/or pick up. There are a total of 4 teachers for the classroom, but I'm amazed at Ms. Kim's organization and memory having to be the primary teacher of 28+ kids and knowing each child's ability. I can barely handle remembering my 3! Ms. Dana was our most recent K-1 teacher and she is just as great! Her lessons helped prepare my daughter for school outside of Montessori. Her open communication and constant use of technology helped prepare us for future apps used in grade school. Ms. Dana was very active in providing updates, even sending pictures to all the class parents of special events and personal messages for individual achievements! With the help of ALL the teachers at Montessori of Brea, our oldest daughter got into GATE (Gifted & Talented Education) and is excelling. Our second daughter is reading three grade levels above her current grade and is thriving at her new school thanks to the teachers and Montessori of Brea. I can only give my highest recommendation for this place! I tell all my neighbors and friends in the area about Montessori of Brea because it has helped our children succeed in and out of the classroom.

After observing different schools in the area and speaking in-depth with the staff, I felt MoB was truly the best place for my brilliant children. If you take a tour, you will observe busy children enthusiastically working with a level of focus you do not see in traditional preschools/kindergartens. The education is top quality, and the staff friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable in child development. Three of my children graduated from MoB, with my youngest being the most recent graduate. They were under the exceptional guidance of Ms. Tess (lead teacher and also a music scholar), Ms. Padmini, Ms. Cindy, Ms. Dana, Mr. Vargas, and Ms. Nayna. We are so grateful for their contribution to our children's development. Every one my kids graduated from MoB with high-level reading and math skills, a love for science, strong musical knowledge, a love and respect for nature and the Earth, as well as high self-confidence and independence. My oldest children, now 12 and 10, are in GATE (Gifted and Talented Education program) in the public school system, and continue to excel. I have no doubt my youngest, who recently graduated from MoB, will also qualify for the GATE program. I credit Montessori of Brea for bringing out my children's full potential--they care about the mental, physical, social, emotional, AND academic wellbeing of the child. The campus is clean, secure, and well maintained, and the staff consistently demonstrate professionalism, kindness, and a genuine commitment to the children. They genuinely enjoy that time with their friends and teachers, so much so that there are days when they do not want to leave. One of the main reasons we chose Arborland was because we wanted a more structured Montessori toddler program than what we found at many other nearby schools serving children 18 months and older. Ms. Karla created exactly the environment we were hoping for. She is warm, patient, and incredibly caring, while also setting clear expectations and consistent boundaries that the children understand and respect. Ms. Orozco was so patient, warm, and encouraging that she made him feel comfortable right away. Over time, we watched him slowly open up, and before long he was actually excited to go to school. He would come home talking about her and everything he was learning, and it was such a joy to see how much confidence she helped him build. She truly helped him break out of his shell, and we are amazed by how much he learned this year. Ms. Orozco is truly an exceptional teacher. My daughter had Ms. Hernandez and Ms. Tan as she entered 2nd grade, and she was also a little shy because she didn't know anyone. They were so kind and supportive and really encouraged her to make new friends and feel like she belonged. We saw such wonderful growth in her throughout the year, both emotionally and academically, and that means so much to us as parents. It was clear that they truly care about their students and want to see them succeed. We also want to thank the front office staff, who were always great and made communication easy throughout the year. They were helpful, welcoming, and always pleasant to work with. I know it's not easy dealing with so many young kids but My son always says he has so much fun and the teachers are really good at sending updated pictures throughout the day without ever missing so I really feel like I know what my student is doing. He's made some great friends. They also do really great events for example today was snow day and my son was so so excited. You could see all the excitement on all the kids faces . The videos this place is posting don't help at all. They aren't providing their service anymore and they are not adjusting the room 1 families' tuition. That's just not right.
