Your Dish technician came late this afternoon as scheduled. I didn't get his name but I wanted to tell someone how pleased I was at the job he did. It was difficult and time consuming. I had ordered a new Dish as the old one I think was 11 years old. My son-in-law had tried to install my new dish unsuccessfully. He's normally pretty adept at such things but thought the new receiver was damaged. In any event the technician today worked hard for an hour and a half or more. I have been a customer of Dish for over 10 years. they arbitrarily marked my account as prepay account due to unforseen circumstances I asked for an 1 time extension of 8 days and was refused with no other offer for assistance forthcoming. Dish TV is notorious for giving you the run around in cancelling your contract. My contract expires 12/3/23. I called today 11/27/23, and they want to charge me a 2 month cancellation of $40. I told Kevin No, I'll call next week and you can charge me $20. Then they charge you for boxes to ship equipment back. I have my own box and will pay my own Fedex so that I have proof of receipt as they are also famous for claiming to never have received their equipment. Lie #1 When I contracted with Dish I was told I could not join if the did not have the channel that he Giants/Warriors/Sharks show on. No Problem said the guy, the tech who installs Dish will show you how to access NBCSBA. That was LIE #2 Lie #3 6 months into the 3 year contract I called and asked "How do I get said Channel." "No problem: just add our sports package at $13 a month. " Needless to say the sports package did not cove r the channel in question. Lie #4 When I asked specifically if NBCSBA channel was included, she said, " I"m looking at it right now. It is channel 155. " I am so disgusted with Dish. If you don't have the channel say so! It would be hard to find a company as bad as Dish. Service is awful. You have to restart the system daily to get the service to work, take 5-10 mins each time. Picture is always freezing and even changing a channel is challenging (very slow). With Dish you just can't turn on or off the TV, you need to confirm this is really want you want to do, like you are a child. Worst than the service is thier customer service. Nasty and rude! I was told I would have a 2-year price guarantee but the price keeps going up. I called today to ask why the lastest increase, and after calling back 4 times and 50 mins later, I talked to Marcella in VA. I was told the lastest increase was because after 6 months they added a kind of insurance to my bill without my knowledge or permission, $10.99 a month. Very underhanded. As I am still talking to Marcella from VA, I ask some questions about four Pay-Per-View certificates I was given when I signed up. She advised me there was nothing on my account. I told her I have the letter with the ceriticate numbers and an expiration date on Dish letterhead. She said it wasn't valid and did not offer to honor the letter from Dish. Another deceptive way to get you to sign up with Dish. Horrible service and I can't wait for my 2 yrs to be up. Everytime I call Dish it's a nightmare. The worst mistake that I have done in my life, be careful with Dish Net TV. This people are really bad. They came to my house to install the service, didn't even put their ownDish, they used Direct TV's dish instead of their own Dish, then went underneath the house and cut all kind of cables and left me and neighbors without internet for almost a week, before the tech left, I noticed I didn't have internet even though I did before the tech came to my house, he said I don't know talk to your internet provider. Then the picture wasn't really good for a brand new TV, so my wife didn't like the service, so we canceled the service, they charge us $ 480.00 for an early termination fee, something that they didn't disclosure to US. I scheduled new TV installation service with Dish and received an email confirming the date of installation and a breakdown of their price commitment. Unfortunately, they input the wrong address for the scheduled installation. When I called to tell them about their error, they said I would have to go through the entire scheduling process again. Ok. After being transferred 4 times to five different people (you can't make this stuff up) I completed the process an hour and a half later. Then I received the second email confirmation. The appointment was changed to a day later, and the price was increased to $10 a month. Unbelievable! What is more unbelievable is that they stuck to their guns and said they couldn't install sooner, and they gave me a marginal 1-year discount. You always hear how horrible satellite and cable provider are, but Dish started even before they installed my service! I recently discontinued service, paid the $18 balance and sent back in the box they sent the receiver. You would think that would be it but no they kept sending me bills and harassing calls about the money they had confirmed already receiving along with the receiver. They would apologize but the bills i did not owe kept coming and the calls until i finally blocked them on my phone. I thought AT & T was the worst but Dish is worse. In Feb,2010, add an additional TV in my masterbedroom, they charge $115.00 to install AND took way the promotion way I'm stuck paying $52.99 a month And they extend the contract effective Feb.2010. Having experienced problems with the simple ability to watch television, I was advised by DISH to try the upgrade to their "JOEY" and "HOPPER" pairing system. The initial installation was to take up to three hours; it took over six hours. Since that time, we have had two additional service calls with another due tomorrow. This is all in the span of four weeks. The technician just told me that "These things have a mind of their own," and that he "cannot predict when or whether it will work in the future." While I asked for and received a one-month credit on my bill, I am still very frustrated that the system does not work. For $176.00 per month, I think it's fair to expect to be able to watch television when I want and to record programs and the like that the system asserts it can do. Finally, the programming is counter-intuitive and clunky. It's quite difficult to determine how to record programs in advance. Typing in the names of programs requires pointing a cursor at letters, which is slow and cumbersome. If folks have suggestions for better services, please advise. The first DVR lasted a couple years. The second lasted a year. The third was less than six months and by the time we got to the last DVR, we had had it only ONE month before it failed as well. We have replaced them so many times we had the instructions memorized. Was it ANY wonder we NEVER did pay per view anymore? We could never rewatch any portion of what we had just dropped good money on....up to 57 bucks for HD UFC fights. The final nail came with the last call to 'technical support'. We had your support person listen to just the audio of the mess that was on our tv screen and it was more than enough for her to transfer us to 'advanced technical support' where we were subjected to the most insolent, arrogent, and for lack of a better word, horse's ass that you could possibly imagine. He made it quite clear that DISH REALLY DIDN'T GIVE A DAMN and would be just fine without our business. By the way, at the beginning of this call, we responded that we would participate in the customer satisfaction survey at the conclusion of the call. It came as ZERO surprise that at the conclusion of the call, the line went dead and there was no way to express our displeasure with how the 'customer service' had been performed. In less than a week we had switched to DIRECT TV and are now enjoying technology that is 10 years beyond that of DISH for the same cost. I really wanted dish cause i had then in my first house and love the savings and the quality. I could not use them for few years because the condo has its own cable. once we had a chance to choose our tv provider we contacted dish, placed order but the internet was so expensive with them. so we went to Verizon to get internet service with them to find out that we will be saving quit a lot if we get tv, internet and phone deal . this is something dish does not offer so we had to cancel with dish. we spent 2 days( not joking ) trying to cancel the service. Aquired Dish Services, got charge $66.06 and $49.95 for local retailer fee (sales fee).I cancelled the service prior to having it installed at my address. Got the $66.06 back from DISH BUT Now infinity REPS are giving me the round around and refused to refund/return the $49.95 service fee. How can they charge a consumer without any services done. I called the 1-866-659-3474 5 times but got the same results. They've been giving me the run around. I spoke to Sue,Stacy and Brandi @ DISH today and got the same answer. Infinity sales does not even have a business address and tel#. When I spoke to Dish they can't even help me, same run around. This is fraudulent and unlawful activity dealing with independent business sales reps. Consumers needs to be protected with these types of bad business practices. Local retailer who represents DISH TV does not even have any business address/billing/contact or complaint department. What type of business does not have these information. How can you verify if they're licensed to do business. DISH TV reviews are bad. Kindly help out on this matter and other future consumer victims. Please be informed that DISH TV has 3rd party sales rep not employed by dish tv. even though you don't have any services with them they will charge you and will give you the run around when your trying to obtain your money back.
