Disney Cruise Line is the only place where you can pay luxury prices and still find yourself pacing the ship at 4:30 p.m. wondering how you're this hungry already. Yes, the nighttime dining is legitimately good -- credit where it's due. The problem is everything between lunch and dinner, when your food options mysteriously shrink to pizza, burgers, and greasy leftovers. If you want something light, fresh, or remotely healthy, you're out of luck until your dinner seating saves you. Add in wall-to-wall crowds, constant lines, and zero quiet space, and it feels less like a relaxing cruise and more like navigating a floating theme park during peak season. For the price, you'd expect comfort, variety, and flexibility. Instead, you get great dinners, frustrating afternoons, and the ongoing realization that you paid a premium to be mildly annoyed for most of the day. Disney magic at night. Disneyworld/land has ALWAYS been so good to us. We tried our first cruise last week and it was everything we hoped it would be. We rode on the Magic and it was perfection. I never felt overcrowded and even though the ship is old, all of the renovating they've done still makes it appear brand new. Super easy access to characters. Their navigator app is super helpful and extremely user friendly. And don't even get me started on the staff/customer service. I have NEVER run across a staff member that didn't make me feel like a million bucks. I don't know how Disney does it, but they always have the BEST staff, whether on land or sea. The Disney Magic was awesome. The AquaDunk was so dang cool. I could've gone on that water slide over and over again. Great pool areas for all ages. The shows? Forget about it. I LOVED them all. They are broadway caliber and can think of nothing to improve them. We have a 12, 8 and 3 year old and they all had the best time. My 8 year old was OBSESSED with kids club and if we would've let him, he could've stayed in there the entire time. super safe and so many fun activities for the kids. Castaway Cay= a slice of heaven. I could've stayed there forever. Snorkeling, biking the island, stingrays, all the water activities, etc. I could go on forever. We snorkeled for 2 hours and found all the hidden items and we even swam with a turtle for about 15 minutes. It was incredible. We can't wait to go back out and experience another cruise with Disney. We will never cruise any other way. Can't wait to see what new ships Disney comes out with in the next few years!! read more

I enjoy Disney Cruise Line. Have not really had a problem with the function of the fun or the cruising. Weather is weather. What I would like to get at with this review is the Diamonds International onboard partner. Why on earth would Disney partner with a company rated at a C with BBB and so many issues? Anyhow, if you want to buy some jewels just don't do it with Diamonds International, they make promises they can't keep like resizing and the simplicity (not even close) of that resizing. Basically they will say anything to you if they think they can make the sale. You know the saying you become who you associate with....well Disney hanging out with this poor organization will only work to bring Disney down. read more

I may be a major Disneyland geek, but I was skeptic that the magic could be replicated at sea. I'll tell ya, I'm glad I was pushed to take this cruise as by the end I couldn't wait to experience it all again. Service is key is on Disney Cruise Line and they have it mastered. Here are few examples. 1) Every single staff member interacted with us throughout the ship. What I loved was when they said hi they first greeted our child (usually with a compliment on her outfit) before they greeted us. 2) When we were all experiencing sea sickness due to a storm their staff not only provided us with complimentary Dramamine, they gave our daughter a nice stuffed animal that became her new best friend during the entire trip. 3) Characters remembered our daughter day after day and made a point to make her feel special throughout the cruise, from Pluto who let our daughter "knock him over" while giving him a huge hug each time they met to Rapunzel who remembered our daughter's affinity for her multiple times throughout the cruise and grabbed our daughters hand to lead a dance throughout the dining room on the final night. You will not find better staff on any other cruise, hotel, theme park, anywhere. The food. You'll never go hungry on this cruise. From the comfort basics like pizza and chicken tenders to the never ending soft-serve ice cream and mickey bars to the high-end meals of black truffle pasta and venison prepared three ways you'll get more than your recommended calorific fill. Sure, room service is almost all free but why waste time in your room when food is served on board almost all day long. The Cabanas buffet was stocked with what you'd expect and more, especially some international surprises mixed in. We loved grabbing the fresh fruit from Daisy's De-Lites, as well as building our own burgers, and eating chicken tenders, shawarma, and fries from the snack bar throughout the afternoon. The real treat came every night though as you make your way for dinner. With four courses you will be stuffed, but if you can't decide what to order just remember you can always ask for two different entrees or desserts, because when else will you be able to indulge like this? Kids Club. Man alive there is no better daycare in the world than what Disney has setup. It's been a few months since our cruise and our daughter still talks about going back to Kids Club. This parent free zone has everything from a Toy Story playground to a Marvel room, to special character meet and greets, story times with princesses and more. Plus with messaging through the app and room phones you're alerted as soon as your child would like to leave. The perfect escape for kiddos and parents. The lesser points? #1 disappointment for our family was the small pool areas. All four of their ships only feature three pools (one is adults only), all of which are the same size on each ship. When one is closed, the other fills up with no room to even move around besides just standing to watch the movie. You'd think Disney would want to compete with other cruise lines on this. Second issue was with communication confusion. First day mandatory lifeboat drill? Navigator app said one time and the announcements over the speaker system said another. Great way to start the trip... At port today? No way of knowing which floor or side of ship to leave from and it changes every time. Even asking staff members results in different answers. Any other issues were minor and usually resolved. My review may not have covered everything, I mean I'm sure I'd hit maximum characters if I did, but in the end, we made so many amazing memories and had so much fun. So much so that we put down a deposit for another cruise and have since then booked it. I can't wait to see my daughter smile like that again! read more

in a heartbeat we would do Wish again. had best time on Wish and so happy that we go to enjoy the inaugural sailing when we went in dec 2022. we just finished the 2 night Disney Magic from san diego, and the spa is a complete joke compared to Wish. so if you are someone who enjoys Disney and spa, your money goes a lot farther in Wish than with Magic. If I had to review Magic I would probably offer 2.5 stars for servers who make cruise amazing and memorable. read more

Wow! Where do I begin? This was single-handedly the best vacation I have ever had in my entire life. That being said, it isn't too hard for that to be accomplished when: 1) We had won this delightful cruise from our local radio station and had not paid a penny for it. and 2) When it is a cruise with the top entertainment company in the world. A company who has mastered the art of service and excellence! I spent the months leading up to our trip researching every aspect of this truly dream vacation. I had dreamed my entire life of taking a Disney Cruise (okay....most of my life) and it was finally happening. I had been on one other cruise in my life, aboard the Carnival Fascination. That had been nearly 20 years prior. We were booked for our 7-night Western Caribbean cruise on the Disney Magic, which had been newly renovated. I researched and found out all about Fish Extender groups (FEs) and had to get involved as I was unsure if I would ever get to do one of these again, I had to go all out. We prepared our Fish Extender and I made 3 neat cabin gifts to hand out during the course of our cruise. On day 1, we arrived at Port Canaveral, which is only a hour drive from our home. We pulled up to park and they had us pull out all of our bags that we were not carrying on and we gave them to a Disney Crew Member curbside. Then we went on to park the car, grab our carry on baggage and head into the terminal. The inside of the terminal is very Disney, with the entryway to the ship a big mickey head. We got in line to check in, and everything was so organized. We got our daughter signed up and ready with her magic band for the Oceaneers Club/Lab and waited (impatiently) on comfy couches while watching Disney movies. Mickey and Minnie were there in full nautical wear to take photos with and there were big models of the ship to look at also. Periodically, you would hear a soft ping and they would call the next group number to board the ship. These numbers were assigned in order based upon pre-scheduled port arrival time. The calls were consistent and the boarding process was smooth and painless. As you board the ship, someone asks your last name, and the crew announces that "The Disney Magic welcomes aboard the ******* family!" You come in through the main atrium lobby and it feels so magical and grand. Once you are on board, you head to the pool deck and grab lunch at Cabanas, the buffet restaurant and grab a table on deck. Around 1 pm, guests are given the announcement that they are able to head down to their staterooms. We took that time to settle into our cabin and unpack. The staterooms on Disney are unrivaled for space and luxury. Around 3:30 pm, you are required to head to your assigned location for lifeboat checks and then once those have been completed, you are free to go about the ship. The best place to head is back up to the pool deck for the sail away party where you indulge in fruity frozen drinks and watch as the ship pulls out of port, while dancing to party music. I think it is one of the happiest moments of the entire trip. Once you are done at the party, it is time to head back to your cabin and get ready for the evening's dinner and show. Each DCL ship has 3 main dining rooms and works on a rotational dining schedule. Upon receiving your Key to the Ship card, you are assigned a rotation. Each night of your cruise, you will rotate through all of the dining rooms at least once (Depending on the length of your cruise). Your wait staff will rotate with you each night so you will always have the same staff for your entire cruise. There are also some additional options. You don't have to eat in the dining room at all if you don't want to. Cabanas is always available and will often have some of the same food available. Or, you can dine at Palo (and Remy, on the Dream and Fantasy). These high end options are at an additional cost, but I fully believe that the Palo Brunch was worth the $25 per person. These need to be booked in advance as they will fill up. Each cruise varies on their port stops, but I must say that one of the very best is Castaway Cay. Disney's private island is beautiful and has something for everyone. It is wonderful because it is like an extension of the ship. There are private areas for adults on all Disney Cruise Line ships so don't feel like you don't want to do one because of all of the kids on board, you can very easily escape children. And the kids clubs aboard, from the little ones all the way up to the teens are amazing. I have one child that was Oceaneers Club age and one that was Vibe (Teen) age and I barely saw my teen the entire cruise. This review could go on forever because of all of the wonderful things I could say about DCL, but you get the picture. Now you can also view my pictures to see how wonderful it is. We are about to embark on our fourth Disney Cruise Line voyage. Before we tried Disney, another line was very disappointing. Not Disney. The best service, food, personnel I could ever imagine. This is the second time we are leaving from Port Canaveral. The other two were from Copenhagen, DK. We don't take children, just us 70 year olds. We have two more cruises booked this year and two for 2018. You won't be sorry! read more

Shoreside Guest Services is horrible and makes no effort to accomodate travelers that were inconvenienced by last minute itinerary changes to ports that offer no excursions or activities for children. They will not allow you to simply rebook another cruise with them which would still cost you more money! Disney, of all companies, has no concern for the experience of the children that have been looking forward to a cruise for two years. Save your money and sail with another cruise line. Disney does not care about your experience or that of your children. read more

TECHNOLOGY/ CELL PHONE/ LAPTOP SERVICE = POOR Disney Fantasy - WONDEFUL CREW AND STAFF - Exceptional Customer Service!! While EACH AND EVERY ONE (with one exception) of the crew and staff were REMARKABLY helpful, I am now at home and still feeling the adverse results of allowing the I-Mickey Staff (Ancy) touch my devices. I have not been able to recover what she lost while conforming my I-phone and MacBook. (I have lost all emails and texts messages while on the 7 day cruise.) Disney does not explain how difficult it is to connect to Wi-Fi. With BAD advice, I purchased 2000 mb, of which 1300 was used prior to the first 24 hours. "Ancy" gave me credit for only 500mb. This was NOT ENOUGH for the bad advice she shared. Upon talking with other adults - who were not preoccupied with kids - I learned many had experienced the same. Because of this, I doubt I will travel on Disney again. I never thought one crew member could make or break a trip, but Ancy certainly did for me and the 19 other family members with whom I was traveling and made reservations for. It wasn't the $180, but the PRINCIPLE that made the difference to us. I feel Disney - of all others - should have been better with regard to sharing information on technology! This was one of the most incredible vacations of my life. From the moment we entered the port terminal to board the ship to the minute we left, everything was magical! Every family was in a great mood and each guest and team member was smiling. I'll never forget seeing that many happy people in one place. The send off was so much fun! There were so many characters on the ship! Disney music plays 24/7 in the hallways and "When You Wish Upon A Star" plays before each announcement. The art and detail on the inside of the ship is exquisite. Practically the entire Thomas Kinkade Disney Collection is hanging in the halls. Everything is so clean and perfect. Each restaurant we ate in was fabulous and all the little snack stations around the ship were delicious! (the oatmeal cookies at Daisy's De-Lites!) The nightly productions in the theater were excellent. It was like Broadway every night! We have no children and Disney does a really good job of keeping certain areas of the ship 100% kid free (there's areas that are virtually "Adult-free" for the kiddies, too!) Pirates in the Caribbean Night was just great. We dressed up like pirates and saw some of our favorite classic characters in their sea-dog attire! We made one stop at Disney's Castaway Cay and we spent the day soaking in the sun, wading in crystal clear water and enjoying the clean and rustic island. We were mostly in the adult-only part of the island and we got to take advantage of TWO happy hours! The only time that I was less than ecstatic on the whole trip (other than learning Elsa and Anna were already all booked up be the time I made my appointment to meet them) was waking up on the last morning, and seeing that we were already back at port. I really didn't want this adventure to end and I cannot wait to go on another Disney Cruise! I must give a shout-out to some of my favorite Disney Magic team members on the trip: Joey from the giftshop, I will never forget you or your outstanding service and kindness. You are an amazing person.
