Garry, the owner, always stresses doing WODs that involve partners so that teamwork could be built across the gym community. The basics course I took was definitely worth the money as it started to solidify everything I have heard about Cross Fit. Yes, you will get bruised, you will get roughed up, but, that is just the nature of Cross Fit itself. From the knowledge coaches to the family I've began to found here that loves working out; I can see myself being at this gym for a while. The personalized 1-on-1 instruction time you get with each of the coaches is valuable. Most importantly, all the coaches emphasize safety over quantity, which is vital in doing Cross Fit. Crossfit Heat is definitely a great gym for learning proper form while weight lifting. You get a daily personal trainer for a whole month for what would normally cost maybe 4 sessions with one. Okay, its a "personal trainer" in a group setting, but they keep adding classes if class sizes ever get too big. So it always feels like I have my own personal trainer. And that's how you have to look at Crossfit. You are not paying for a gym membership. You are paying for unlimited personal training. In that regard, this is totally worth the price. I have learned so, so much about weight training. Push press? Overhead squat? Before I joined this gym, I had no idea what those were. They take their time and really teach you each move, where to set your feet, where to use leverage, and all the while, giving you strength and teaching you how to grow from it. Joining this gym has really changed my perspective. As a massage therapist, I study the human body. And I can say that the trainers here focus on form and function, and do a great job at making sure you never hurt yourself. I have had both Tiffany and Garry both order me to bring down the weight I was using to a lower weight, because my form was not top notch yet. THAT is the kind of feedback that a real pro brings to the table. All of the trainers at this gym have proven to have that kind of discipline, and its very impressive. Warning: Like *any* gym that uses weights, it is YOUR responsibility to take it slow and easy, and ask aggressive questions about form, until YOU are doing it right. If you try to grab a weight heavier than your weakest muscle (like the shoulder, anyone?), and you overdo it, you will injure yourself. Every time. Don't blame Crossfit for this. YOU need to take it slower and ask more question. I've spent an entire week working with a piece of PVC pipe instead of a weight. Trust me. Its worth the weight. I have great form. And as I move up, I do so confidently, and without injury! And PS. I know there are vids of people from Crossfit doing stupid poorly formed exercises. Guess what? There are vids from every gym of people doing stupid things. You should judge the gym based on the knowledge and training of the people there. And based on that, this gym gets 5 stars! Main difference...we were inside with brand new weights and gear versus bringing your own equipment. I mainly had Marcus as a trainer and found him to have really good energy. $200-$250's per month is too high of a price point for a group class . As 'Value' is subjective and if the price point was drastically lower, I would be committed to continuing. Could be great for someone else, not me.

Apart from that, the classes were great but I would have liked to see more focus on core exercises and maybe throw in some plyometrics. I was surprised to see them throw in more advanced barbell exercises in what was essentially a beginners class but it wasn't too bad. But I wish the coaches taught proper form a little better. Between the barbell work and multiple different ways to complete one type of exercise, I would have liked more of a breakdown of what muscles should be targeted for each different way of doing the exercise. All in all, a solid A for everything.

I was really sore afterwards in the good kind of way, and I'd really like to be back! If you go, bring some friends so you can be sore together. This place was a little difficult to find, but not because it wasn't visible--it was just a little non-descript, so we drove right past it at first. Don't be fooled by the small appearance of the building because there's lots of equipment for all sorts of training needs inside!
