Good solid programming with strength and cardio metcons, as well as some skill work up front. Great warm up by all the coaches, even had time to smash and roll out a little after class. This is a LARGE facility with plenty of space and multiple rigs. I also got to try out their brand new concept 2 bike ergs for one of the workouts. Signing up ahead of time was easy on their website, paid and signed the waiver before showing up. They had an amazing oly area! Little do they know, everything they had helped immensely. It was my first time in the 12 weeks I'd been training that I had access to kilo plates. On top of that, when I got back home and competed the following weekend, my confidence was through the roof and I ended up placing first in my meet. All in all, dropping in here was a blessing in disguise! Can't wait to drop in again next time I'm in town.

I toured the facility yesterday and joined up. The main focus of Movement is the rock-climbing area, which I have a beginners class scheduled on Friday. You can rent the shoes, harness and whatever else needed for rock climbing. I'm venturing into uncharted waters. When you're a member you have access to all 10,000 plus square feet of this place; including the fitness classes. I took a HIIT class Monday night that was 30 minutes long, 2 minutes on each station. Then another 30 minutes focusing on abs and core stuff. Great workout and a I can feel I'll tone up more with HIIT than just with running and Pilates alone. After the class I spent some time on a treadmill then called it a day. I am super excited to try the rock climbing so I will be sure to update as I go. So far: it's on the cheap, they have something for everyone. Very clean facilities. Fully loaded locker rooms with a hot sauna and showers. Great hours. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking. I am so happy I noticed this building driving by this past weekend. This gym will help to get my fitness level further along.

Signed up for a HIIT class through ClassPass. It was a great workout but I think it was difficult to get the right form or even remembering the correct sequence. My poor short term memory didn't like the quick overview in the beginning of class- I forgot everything I saw before we even began, lol. There was some confusion over where people go to after they are done with their station and I think that took some of the momentum out of the workout. I can't complain though- it's not brain surgery, but it does help to have a little more structure and guidance. The HIIT class went through a warmup (squats, high knees, butt-kickers, jump squats, grapevines, walking lunges + back stretch), and the workout was divided into a few segments. The first portion was a cycle of goblet squats, superplanks, jump rope, & walking side-to-side w a resistance band. That entire cycle was repeated over and over AMRAP within a specific time frame. Second cycle consisted of ball slams, kettlebell deadlift+shoulder raises, elevated pushups, kettlebell lunges +step ups, hurdles, bear crawls, shoulder taps, figure 8's. Then after that was done a total of 3 cycles through, there was an intense cardio push: sprints and kettlebell swings a few rounds through. Those really zapped me. Then after all that, we had to do farmer carry's using kettlebells and going outside to the corner and back. All the lighter kettlebells got snatched up quick so I was stuck with heavy ones. It was really tough carrying those things up the street. Final task was to drop the weights and do a quick lap to wrap up. It was definitely a good burn that I felt the day after, but I worry that newcomers here with little training experience won't get the proper instruction on form. read more

Apart from that, the classes were great but I would have liked to see more focus on core exercises and maybe throw in some plyometrics. I was surprised to see them throw in more advanced barbell exercises in what was essentially a beginners class but it wasn't too bad. But I wish the coaches taught proper form a little better. Between the barbell work and multiple different ways to complete one type of exercise, I would have liked more of a breakdown of what muscles should be targeted for each different way of doing the exercise. All in all, a solid A for everything.
