I underwent a series of CO2 laser treatments, including fractional laser on my cheeks, for my icepick acne scars between 2022 and 2023. Unfortunately, my experience was highly disappointing. Despite spending over $6,000 on 6 sessions and additional mandatory treatment skincare products, the results did not meet expectations. This was extremely disheartening in the end, as the procedure itself was extremely painful, requiring a full week of downtime after each session. TREATMENT: During my treatments, I noticed inconsistencies in the care provided. While Ina, the technician responsible for most of my sessions, did take her time during less busy appointments, I noticed she would rush through sessions when her schedule was packed. Given that EACH session cost around $1,000 for 50 minutes of treatment time, I expected a more consistent level of care. I understand it's a business, but for the cost, a little more attention and respect to the patient should have been given... I strongly believe there is a chance that I did not get the results I was told by the staff I would get, because of the lack of attention actually given during the treatments. CUSTOMER SERVICE: After 3x initial sessions, I was advised in December 2022 to undergo an additional 3, with the clinic CONFIDENTLY promising me a 60% reduction in the appearance of my scars. Unfortunately, after completing all 6 sessions, I saw little to no improvement (less than 10%). Rather than addressing my concerns with empathy, Ina and the front desk staff attempted to sell me more sessions, which was disheartening, considering the financial and emotional investment I had already made. Overall, this experience gave me the impression that the clinic prioritizes profit over patient care. Considering the pain, time, and significant cost involved, I expected a higher standard of professionalism, bedside manner, and customer service. I strongly do NOT recommend this clinic, as it appears to focus more on profit than truly helping patients.

However, I was given a skin lighting cream to use in conjunction with my treatments and was not told that I needed to stop three days prior to my appointment. I ended up going to my appointment but was told that I needed to move the appointment to a different day since I had just used a lightening skin cream that morning. I was told to email the director to reinstate my appointment. In January he emailed me back and reinstated my appointment. I then went to the appointment he reinstated. As time passed I really wasn't satisfied with the service provided so I decided to leave a review a week ago. After my review the owner unprofessionally revoked my last treatment session coming up in May. This was a complete separate appointment with a different laser which I paid for separately from the one he reinstated. I have already paid in full and he has not provided me a refund. He decided to cancel my last upcoming appointment out of spite due to my bad review and is trying to link it to the missed appointment that he already reinstated in January (almost 5 months ago). I truly wish I had read reviews before booking at this establishment. My background as a nurse gives me a different perspective. Some staff members seemed underqualified, contributing to an uncomfortable environment from the beginning. During my second laser session, the nurse appeared unsure of how to use the laser and needed assistance. The procedure was incredibly painful, resulting in scarring. Despite assurances that this was normal, the pain was intense, and six treatments have not improved the scars. I need to mention that a-lot of 5 star reviews are misleading because the owner often reinstates appointments in exchange for reviews. While I understand that not every client will have a negative experience, it's crucial to take the poor reviews seriously. Sometimes the issues can be remedied by how it is handled. However, the way the owner handles issues at this company demonstrates a lack of professionalism and extreme immaturity. In response to any criticism, he decides to just cancel your appointments unethically. I arrived a few minutes early, so I got a chance to soak in the atmosphere of the bright, spacious lobby. It didn't take long before I felt completely at ease. My visit with Dr. Kellett was a long and thorough one. From the way she answered my questions, I can tell that she was a true professional who was very knowledgeable in her area of expertise. We had a detailed discussion about my condition, and she recommended several treatments while explaining the pros and cons of each option. Throughout our meeting, she remained kind, patient, and very sensitive to my feelings. Since then, I have been visiting DLK on Avenue for over a year and my impression remains largely the same. The 2nd: a sour owner who seemed miffed that my using her Groupon offer meant I was ripping her off. -- I mean, she is the one who agreed to the package price, and I'd called her directly rather so she wouldn't lose money to Groupon! Most unpleasant. I found Medica Laser Spa through Groupon, also, called them directly (which they appreciated), and they agreed to the same package price. Also, the area I need treating is not the face but the decolletage area, and they agreed to treat that area, instead. Their IPL treatments, though, are incredible by comparison! They do the regular treatment stuff (IPL, face serum, SPF cream) but then do much more: They do a couple of other serums and an oxygen bath. They spend twice the amount of time on me as the other places had. Medica Laser Spa's staff go above and beyond the minimum -- the best deal in the city for IPL that I've found. Plus, again, they're NICE. And I really like to support nice businesses and not feed the negative ones. The location is right beside the Eglinton subway station so the convenience is great. Considering location, it's all the more remarkable that this place is such a great deal. :D
