Nice shop in Portage Park. I stopped at Junebug and saw it there so wanted to stop in, and I'm glad I did because they have a nice selection of bath and body items. The owner said that he makes them all himself, and he also has soap making classes which is pretty cool. And apparently he's a the Park Ridge Farmer's Market as well, so I've seen him there a couple times and didn't make the connection! I bought a couple of face masks because I'm a sucker for them. They had at least three or four kinds but I stuck to just two (they're the plastic face mask kind, not like a cream or powder that you mix). I also bought some eye masks so I am totally ready for a little self-care session. In addition to hand soaps and face masks, they have accessories like sponges, towels, body butters and scrubs, and so on. They have some other home fragrance items too. During Covid I took advantage of the many local businesses offering delivery and I signed up for the monthly soap subscription with Distinct Bath and Body. For under $10 per month I get a hand made artisan crafted soap delivered to my door. Each soap I have received has been a joy to use in the shower and has lasted around the month. Today I stopped in the store for the first and it was lovely as well. There was incense/candles/beard grooming products/bath bombs and of course soaps. The owner, Sam, is such a nice guy too. Warning! You are going to fall in love and possibly spend loads of money in here! Not necessarily a bad thing! I visited Distinct Bath and Body for the first time for a soap making class. Sam and Chris were great! We had a group of 8 people, so we split up into two groups of four and made two different flavor soaps (lavender and lemon). It was a fun experience! You get to walk away with a bar of soap... not the soap that you make since it takes a few weeks to "cure" or "harden," but you can come back to pick up a bar once it is ready. A bonus is we got to keep our cute lil' aprons! Sam is extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain why most commercial soaps are bad and also explained additives that aren't really good for the skin. We were asked to keep our masks on during the class/while in the store, for anyone wondering about the mask policy! The front portion of the shop has a variety of soaps for sale, salt lamps, lotions, candles, and even some goodies for the doggies. The store absolutely smells divine! You will love it! read more

I visited the store for the first time today. I took a beginner-level soap making class. The class was small, which allowed the 3 participants to ask as many questions as we wanted. Sam, shop owner and teacher, was very gracious with his explanations, and he was gentle with his directions. The shop was clean and neatly organized. And the smell is AMAZING!! It's Rosa J.'s off day from work! Her "Domingo," as always, is dedicated to visiting local businesses. The style of traveling that I've chosen for today was "on foot," so hubby and I did a little walking and arrived at the "Distinct Bath & Body," a few blocks west from the corner of Irving Park and Austin. It was a great start of day to have some aromatic therapies. The young lady on duty was very approachable and informative. After a brief introduction of what the store was about and explaining the prices and promotions, we began our "smelling/sniffing session" to decide what to take home this morning. Surprisingly, I found their prices reasonable, considering everything was handmade by utilizing natural ingredients. While I was sampling various soap bars and bath bombs, my hands felt soft. I was excited to see the bath bombs. The promotion for purchasing four (4) pieces would better than purchasing just one (1): 4 for $15, or $5/each. However, I picked "moonlight & roses" since it had the fun baby blue/pink color combo. I've never used a bath bomb before, so this will be experimental for me. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, our decisive minds didn't help prolong the smelling/sniffing phase. After ten (10) plus minutes, hubby and I mutually agreed on "peppermint poppy" and "lemon cedar sage" soaps. By the way, if you have a difficult time committing to a single kind of soap, there's a "sample by the ounce" sale available. Yelp check-in offer was pretty fantastic: one (1) free bar of soap with $10 purchase. There's will be many repeated visits from us since hubby has requested the soap puck for shaving when his current one runs out. It didn't hurt when a 10% off coupon was handed to us for the next visit. "Distinct Bath & Body" to me was similar to "love at the first sight." I then looked for their Facebook page and immediately became a fan and a follower! There's no excuse that Rosa J. doesn't smell better than the roses in bloom from now on. read more

This store is the Epitome of a Terrific Local Business and everyone needs to support them! I ordered a gift box of 4 soaps and stopped by to pick them up today; WOW! The fragrance that greets you when Sam the owner opens the door is lovely; what to choose is the only dilemma. I wanted to stay and browse but a family with 3 beautiful little kids came in behind me and as the store is small & covid is a terrible reality, I left with my order so they could shop leisurely. I will be back! In fact, I just went to their website and placed another order. If you live anywhere in the Chicago area, you need to see this wonderful shop. I never used these kind of soaps before and I can say that these soaps really work better then those big company name brands. I bought two soaps, one for showering and one strictly to wash my face. Distinct's face moisturizer is the best I've found in a long time. It's great for nighttime, especially the nights I also use tretinoin because it moisturizes so well. It made a noticeable difference in my skin within a few days, including clearing up a small patch of eczema. It smells great and still is good for my sensitive skin, and a little goes a long way. It's also perfect on a cotton ball to gently remove stubborn eye makeup. I love this product and can't recommend it highly enough! read more

Went in to get small xmas presents...came out with lots for myself! The store is super cute with a nice designy sense to it, and the owner is super nice (I'd seen him at farmers markets, too) - all in all a great place to have in the neighborhood. The thing that made me want to write this review, though, is their body butter. I never thought I would find a replacement for my petroleum-based lotion, much to my dismay - it was the only thing that worked for my very sensitive dry skin, and I need to apply it every day. I love this little shop! I got the majority of my purchased Christmas presents from here this season, and they're my general go to when I need to spoil someone. The quality of the soaps is really high, and you get interesting scents you don't find elsewhere. My father in law loved the Evergreen soap, for example. He has started mixing solid lotions and I picked up a Cinnamon/Eucalyptus tin. SO GOOD! I do end up smelling like a stick of Big Red, but my dry winter skin just loves it. I think it was also available in Lavender. It's a totally cute shop. The owner and his shop assistant that I've met have always been completely wonderful. And the product is really good. Such a cute and lively store. I have the hand soap (huge bottle) and body butter (great scent). The soap is not drying to the hands and the body butter smells great (not over bearing) and keeps my skin soft. My husband even uses it. With the hand soap, you only need a small amount and it creates a great lather that does not dry your hands out. The size is great, I have small children that we do a lot of hand washing with.
