The owner said that he makes them all himself, and he also has soap making classes which is pretty cool. And apparently he's a the Park Ridge Farmer's Market as well, so I've seen him there a couple times and didn't make the connection! I bought a couple of face masks because I'm a sucker for them. They had at least three or four kinds but I stuck to just two (they're the plastic face mask kind, not like a cream or powder that you mix). I also bought some eye masks so I am totally ready for a little self-care session. In addition to hand soaps and face masks, they have accessories like sponges, towels, body butters and scrubs, and so on. They have some other home fragrance items too. Member price for a 12.99 set of microwavable/dishwasher safe bowls (which made great gifts) are 6 bucks. I think that's pretty amazing. They're pretty too. And they also have mineral makeup. They carry the brand Wholefood Nutrition...They have sunscreen, powders that prevent alzheimers, assist in diabetes, protect against free radicals, detox, provide natural energy etc... If you want to try any of the products you can, they have a million testers and you can even try out their toothpaste and mouthwash. The special mouthwash they have is crazy. If you use it you can see how much CRAP is actually in your mouth and you spit it out and BAM. It cleans you out so well and it's not all alcoholey. The weirdest but coolest stuff are these glasses of different kinds that you put water in and it's made in a way where it'll give you this positive energy if you drink it. So it's good for your body. They also have pendants and wands you carry with you that do the same thing with the positive energy (all asian stuff obviously) but it's expensive. If you look up about positive energized water and how the molecules look different (overseas in asia they discovered this) the positive energy is effective on a person. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I'd like to think it's for real. AND IF YOU LIKE COFFEE they have plenty. My favorite is the pansy good tasting coffee (White Cappuccino) which comes in instant packets. I JUST bought a new package which has a ton of little packages in it, and I hope not to drink all of it today. It's truly a delicious drink... I don't know what else to say other than go look inside. I wish they got more business because I'm afraid they'll close down from lack of business and then I'll have to order online or find a salesperson haha.

I double-checked the store's hours online and saw the store should indeed still be open. I contact customer support and was told their store is scheduled to close an entire hour earlier than their website's posted closing time. The time and money spent making this trip is enough to pay for what I was intending to buy from here. This experience has erased any and all trust I have in this location and brand, and have absolutely zero intentions spending my time or money with a company I can no longer trust.

The storefront itself is stunning, drawing inspiration from Lake Michigan and Chicago's winter and featuring accents of stone, curved shelving, and aluminum. I was in the market for some schmancy hand wash, having tired of my CVS rotation. I'm of the firm opinion that a nicely packaged, great-smelling hand soap can go a long way to instantly elevating one's space and mood. Nicholas greeted me right away and even led me over to the sinks to try out the two options that were available for hand soaps. The Reverence Aromatique handwash ($39) immediately won me over. The subtle lavender scent is amazing, woody and herbal without being cloying. Fyi- the bottles are of a good size, and Nicholas told me that people usually get a season (2 to 3 months) out of a bottle. Considering I can go through a bottle of Dial pump hand soap in two or three weeks, this is good to know. Since my hands have been annoyingly dry, I opted for the Reverence Aromatique duo which contains the handwash and a moisturizing balm. If I had stayed any longer in the store it could have gotten dangerous, but I ended up adding on a small travel kit of samples, including a smaller hand balm to pop in my handbag and a refreshing face mist. I look forward to testing out these little goodies before I commit to any larger sizes. Nicholas was kind enough to include a trial-size shampoo (a new offering) and even misted the bag, which is a cloth, reusable drawstring in line with the store's sustainable ethos. Lately I've not been shopping as much, because I want to make sure that whatever I am bringing into my life will help me feel good all the way through. Shopping at Aesop makes me feel that much closer to becoming a more conscious consumer.
