Tasty spot for lunch. Ordered take out from here. The sides were good but not stand out. But the chicken was very tasty, with great flavor!

To all my Charlotte folks... think Viva Chicken. My only real gripe? They dared to toss a bag of whole baby carrots into the Brussels sprouts. Come on--chop those things up! That aside, the Brussels sprouts themselves had great flavor. The balsamic glaze really popped, adding a tangy sweetness that paired well with the earthy sprouts. I do wish they had been roasted a bit longer, though--they were still a little too firm for my taste. The plantains, on the other hand, stole the show. Beautifully charred and caramelized on the outside, while staying soft, warm, and perfectly sweet on the inside. And then there's the chicken--the heart of the meal. The Peruvian seasoning came through nicely, especially on the breast, which stayed tender (though it felt like it was about three minutes shy of tipping into dryness). The thigh and leg, however, were spot on: juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Overall, definitely worth a stop if you're craving those bold, comforting Peruvian flavors.

Had a strong craving for Peruvian food! I really wanted Sardi's but unfortunately, there aren't any in DC near me so I did a quick Yelp service to learn that District Rico is close by and has good reviews. I went with the quarter white meat chicken, fried rice, plantains, and Brussels sprouts & carrots. Only problem was there were no carrots. Not sure if they missed all the carrots when putting mine into the container or if they ran out, but I was looking forward to them. In terms of location, there isn't much over there since Walmart closed so it's easy to miss the spot. I likely wouldn't eat in there unless I had to as there's a lot of "riff raff" around but it wasn't dirty inside which helps.

My husband is craving Peruvian food and because it's his bday week, I want to find a really authentic tasting grilled chicken and thanks to Yelpers, we found this restaurant called District Rico. This amazing restaurant is near a parking garage and they happen to also have an available street parking we found. The place is clean and homey. The two guys were so nice and helpful. They really help us choose the best with a smile. So we got the family meal of authentic Peruvian grilled chicken and 4 sides. They have a lot of side selection. We choose sweet fried plantain, fried yuka, black beans and brussel sprouts. We also got the delicious carne asado with two sides. We got the delicious brown rice and another plantain. My husband loved it and we all enjoyed every thing. The chicken is so well spiced and the flavor are just plain delicious. The meat so soft and moist. All the sides are excellent! To top it off, we got the tres leches. Yum! Yum! Yum! Thank you so much District Rico. We so enjoyed our experience.

Far from a standard dining experience, the multi-course tasting menu here is a masterclass in storytelling through food, structured around Peru's distinct topographical regions. Every course is presented with insight and depth of the food you are able to consume. The flavors are bold. The courses are well thought through. The service is impeccable. From start to finish, we were greeted with warmth. Everything you eat wakes up the palate without overwhelming you. If you aren't into seafood, this journey through Peru may not be for you. We settled on the four course tasting menu and ordered an extra ceviche. To be honest, this felt more like a seven course meal. The textures, color and artistry are unparalleled. Causa isn't just a meal--it's an evocative, deeply memorable exploration of Peruvian gastronomy. It is absolutely a must-visit for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or experience culinary storytelling at its absolute finest. I'm still thinking about the Heart of Palm, scallop ceviche, sweet potato sea urchin dish.

We had reservations to dine at Amazonia, we arrived before our reservation time and were greeted not very amicably. The service the rest of the night was equally as mediocre. Our waitress was unfriendly and didn't check in as often as needed. We were done with our food and a good 20 min went by without getting the dessert menu we had requested. When we were done another 15 min went by before we got the check even though there were only 3 tables occupied. We sat in the patio, the ambiance was nice but the cherry on top of the mediocre food and bad service was when we saw a mouse running under the tables. Luckily it was when we were waiting for our check because I would have definitely left mid dinner. Definitely not the dinner experience we were hoping for. Now on to the food: I will start off by saying that we love Peruvian food. We have traveled to Peru a few times specifically to try their amazing cuisine. We have tried various Peruvian restaurants in DC (at different price points) and around the US and this one without a doubt has been the worst. - lomo saltado: we ordered this because it is hard to mess up this dish. It is always tasty! Well, somehow it was not the case. The sauce was way too thick and tasted like straight up tomato puree. - ceviche amazonico- the portion was small, the sauce was tasty but nothing memorable. It was too fishy in a bad way. - papas de huancayo- these were the best out of all the dishes ordered. But weren't amazing. We order a pasta, I forgot the name, with a ragu sauce- it was ok-ish. Is this even Peruvian? For dessert we had the chocolate cake with Lucuma ice cream- the portion was tiny. Again it was ok, but nothing amazing or memorable. Overall the food was not at all what we were hoping for. The portions don't match the steep prices. And the flavors are not there. At least not the traditional Peruvian flavors. The service was terrible but of course they automatically add a 20% service fee on the tab. What motivation do the servers have to do a good job if they know they are getting the tip anyways? Overall this was a bad experience, we won't be back and won't recommend.

Skye our server was incredible, went above and beyond to make our experience great! We also learned about Peruvian cuisine and Pisco! Love the decor, felt very cozy! The only weird thing that happened, we added on the all you could drink wine to go along with our tasting menu. There were three reds and three whites to choose from. Things were going along great and then a manager in a suit asked if we needed anything and we asked for the next White on the list. He brought it to us then told us this was the last one in our tasting. We mentioned that the menu says all you can drink. The portions they poured were tasting size portions each time, and our plan was to try each of them. We pointed out what the menu said, he said let me check. He brought Luis over who agreed that's what the menu said. Ultimately, we had a good time, but that made us feel weird that we had to even point that out when it was very clear on the menu. I've included the photo of the menu in case upper management would like to make sure if it is not all you can drink to change the wording. And if it is to make sure Mgmt. doesn't make guests feel uncomfortable for asking for more.

Kind of fun decor - expected more from this Jose Andres restaurant because we really enjoyed the sister restaurant, Oyamel nearby (try that place instead!)

Let's start with the obvious. If labor matters so much, build it into the price. Every other business manages to pay employees without turning the receipt into a public relations campaign. Instead, Chicken + Whiskey wants customers to admire them for charging extra after the fact. As for the food, the chicken looked less "wood fired" and more "insurance claim." One piece was so aggressively charred it appeared to have entered the atmosphere and returned. The sides were forgettable, the presentation was indistinguishable from a middle school cafeteria tray, and absolutely nothing on the table justified the premium pricing. The entire experience feels engineered by a marketing team. Keep the menu prices looking lower than reality. Add surprise fees later. Call them something noble. Hope nobody notices. We noticed. The funniest part is that the restaurant seems convinced the labor fee demonstrates transparency. Real transparency would be putting the actual price on the menu. What they're doing is the restaurant equivalent of an airline advertising a cheap ticket and then charging separately for the wings. For a place so concerned with fairness, they seem remarkably comfortable being unfair about pricing. I left feeling like I'd paid admission to watch a TED Talk about compensation practices while eating chicken that looked like it had been recovered from a structure fire. The food wasn't good enough to justify the price. The price wasn't honest enough to justify the policy. The policy wasn't clever enough to justify the attitude. One star. Raise your prices. Pay your staff. Stop expecting applause for it.

Fortunately for us, the food was pretty much of the same high caliber as the food from the Pisco Y Nazca location in DC. For our dining pleasure, we went with our favorite dishes and beverages - Ají de Gallina, the Callejero ceviche, and of course a few pisco sours. Although some might consider the prices on paper to be high, I think the prices are fair in terms of portion sizes and quality of the food. Overall, I thought the service was fine. However, I was a little annoyed that we learned about the prix fixe brunch, which includes three courses for $34, after we placed our orders and started eating. While eating, I noticed that other folks at the bar where ordering from a different menu, and the server let me know that they were ordering from the brunch menu. So, I'm thinking that the other bartender forgot to give us both the brunch menu and regular menu when we sat down. Regarding parking, I do not think the restaurant has its own parking, but there is street parking and plenty of parking garages in the area. If you are not familiar with the area, you may want to look up some garages before heading out because the prices can range from a couple of bucks per hour to $7+ per hour. I have a feeling that we'll return to this location - mainly as a way to avoid dealing with the rigamarole of commuting to DC and dealing with DC-related traffic and shenanigans.
