If you like/love the Pisco Y Nazca location in DC, then you'll love the Bethesda location. For our first visit, we dropped by on an early Sunday afternoon and were impressed by the location and the food. Fortunately for us, the food was pretty much of the same high caliber as the food from the Pisco Y Nazca location in DC. For our dining pleasure, we went with our favorite dishes and beverages - Ají de Gallina, the Callejero ceviche, and of course a few pisco sours. Although some might consider the prices on paper to be high, I think the prices are fair in terms of portion sizes and quality of the food. Overall, I thought the service was fine. However, I was a little annoyed that we learned about the prix fixe brunch, which includes three courses for $34, after we placed our orders and started eating. While eating, I noticed that other folks at the bar where ordering from a different menu, and the server let me know that they were ordering from the brunch menu. So, I'm thinking that the other bartender forgot to give us both the brunch menu and regular menu when we sat down. Regarding parking, I do not think the restaurant has its own parking, but there is street parking and plenty of parking garages in the area. If you are not familiar with the area, you may want to look up some garages before heading out because the prices can range from a couple of bucks per hour to $7+ per hour. I have a feeling that we'll return to this location - mainly as a way to avoid dealing with the rigamarole of commuting to DC and dealing with DC-related traffic and shenanigans. read more

This month's cuisine adventure (prior to Chante Moore's show at Bethesda Theatre) was Peruvian at Pisco y Nazca in Bethesda, MD. And whew, DELISH! Every.single.bite. My top two? Definitely the grilled octopus and the Pink Coconut Breeze cocktail. The octopus -- along with its flavorful supporting cast was one of the best I've had. Perfectly grilled, tender, smoky, and beautifully paired with the sauces and sides. And that Pink Coconut Breeze? Flavorful with just the right kick. Bonus points for the strawberries marinating in the cocktail because yes, I absolutely used my fork to scoop them out of the glass. No shame. The ceviche sampler was fresh, bright, and flavorful. The Nikkei Sticky Ribs were deliciously sticky and savory. The scallop dish gave me chargrilled oyster vibes. And the pork belly bao buns? That crispy-yet-chewy pork belly skin was a whole moment. And beyond the food, the experience itself was wonderful. The service was attentive and seamless, and the decor was bright, lively, and festive. I came to Pisco y Nazca for happy hour with the girlies and I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!!! Luhan was our waiter and he was great. He kept checking in our us, providing recommendations and even patiently flipped through pictures for each dish on the iPad which I love. He also was always around so we were able to order another drink before happy hour ended. We split the ceviche sampler which was delicious and I am not the biggest fan of seafood. I got the tallarine à la huancaina which is like a cheesy pasta with steak on top. DELICIOUS. My friends got the lomo saltado and the aji de gallina (chicken stew and rice) and everything was so good. I couldn't help myself from eating multiple times from my friends plate. We also ordered the pisco spritz and Nazca mule to drink. Once again SO SO GOOD. The restaurant is so cute. This is the third location of Pisco Y Nazca that we have tried and they are all good.  This Bethesda location has all the great menu items we enjoy such as the ceviche mixto, empanadas (both chicken and beef), bao buns, lomo saltado and pescado a lo macho.  All are generous servings and very tasty.  We ended our dinner by sharing two desserts, the buenazo and the pionono.  Both were rich and good but, surprisingly, I might say I liked the pionono more (which is weird because the other option was a very chocolate brownie.)  One of the best things about Pisco Y Nasca is the flight of pisco sours.  We split two between four people and this was more than enough for everyone to sample and enjoy.  We really appreciated the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff who helped make our meal even more pleasant.  This location has plenty of garage parking nearby. read more

This was our first visit to this establishment and we wanted to check out their happy hour. We arrived a few minutes after 4:00 on a Saturday and the bar was mostly full. There were about 5 spots left. The bar does turn over, but I would recommend to come early for happy hour based on our experience Service- 3 stars. Then after that, no one checked on us for at least 10 minutes, no eye contact even though the other 2 staff were there. We ended up flagging another staff member and they took our order. Food came out quickly though Food- 4 stars for quality and price point. We liked everything we got. Pisco y Nazca is a restaurant that provides a modern twist on Peruvian food cuisine. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful in turquoise, orange, and tan colors. The restaurant calls itself a gastropub and the beautiful bar area, is the first thing you see, as you enter the restaurant. It has plenty of seats and the drink menu is fun and flirty. My friend and I thought we were coming for Restaurant Week, but found out they were only honoring Restaurant Week for dinner. We decided to stay and have lunch. Service was very good. Our waiter was attentive and gave suggestions on his favorite dishes. I ordered a red sangria and it was delicious. Great fruity flavor and a well mixed cocktail. Next, we tried the tuna tacos. This location was selected for a Galentine's dinner with some friends. Parking was a little interesting since the garage right next to the restaurant had a power outage. There's no street parking but a few drive in garage options within walking distance. Upon Entry the restaurant was lively, with dim lighting to set the ambiance. You could see the wrap around bar full with patrons and some seating throughout. There are some nice arch accents to walk through and wooden accents throughout. The menu unfortunately was not marked off for gluten free options, but the kitchen was able to assure gluten free items were available (would be great to offer a gluten free menu). We were also able to enjoy a menu set aside for restaurant week which allowed us to try an appetizer, main and dessert. My girlfriends tried to ceviche, which we thought came with plantain chips but were provided after we questioned without an issue. I tried the pork belly bao buns, which were crisp and had a nice sauce - wish there was a bit more since this seemed to be the star of the show! It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it did make the evening feel a bit more structured than a typical long, chatty celebration dinner... just something to keep in mind. Parking was manageable thanks to nearby parking garages, though street parking is limited, so plan accordingly. The only downside was that it was a bit hard to get clear answers about which dishes contain gluten. Wow, the food was really good, outstanding flavor. I've had some truly amazing Peruvian food in Costa Rica years ago. Located in the previous McCormick and Schmicks and Cesco, this place was hopping on a very busy Wednesday night. Highly recommend reservations. Most of the tables here can accommodate 2-4 people. Larger parties will be in the private room or closer to the front. They do have happy hour which consists of drinks specials only. I had two Pisco sours and boy did they pack a punch. You can order from your table as well. I was quite tipsy! We had a party of eight and since the place was packed, service was a little slow. I did enjoy their tuna tartare tacos and Croquetas to start. For main dishes, I enjoyed the Tallarines a la Huancaina- pasta was good as well as the sauce. Love the roasted corn that they provided as a snack. I will note that the steak dish "Bistec a lo pobre" is great, but the sirloin piece is very thin and they were unable to make mine medium as I requested; it was more between medium well and well done. If you like your steak that way, definitely recommend! My husband ordered the Tallarines Verdes dish which also had steak on the dish, but the cut was thicker so it was likely much easier to appropriately cook to the medium that he ordered. Was looking for a good happy hour spot that I could walk to and this was the first place that came up. Upon arriving and sitting down by myself, it was just me so I decided to sit at the bar. The first person at the bar who was a woman literally was helping everyone around me but continuously overlooked me. It took a good 5 to 10 minutes for me just to get water and a menu. That was red flag number one. Red flag number two is the menu was kind of all over the place. It seems to be no structure to it at all, and the menu was also slightly difficult to read because 90% of it was in Spanish. But still, I was trying to give them a chance because of all the raving reviews. As I looked around at the crowd, there was zero diversity, which was slightly offputting as well. Service was so so once I finally got someone to give me a menu. I was asked if I wanted regular water or sparkling water. Me thinking that it came with sitting down, asked for sparkling water. Once I got the bill, I see that I was charged eight dollars just for that water. Wasn't too happy about that. Since I didn't really like the menu, I decided just to get a drink since I was sitting at the bar. I got Grey goose and club soda with a lime, which is my go to. The one positive thing I can say is the drink was made really good and was a really good balance. Overall, I don't think that I will be returning to this place. The meat itself didn't have much flavor and was kinda chewy. It was served on top of a mashed bean and that wasn't adding much to the dish. There was a wedding reception/luncheon happening in a semi-private area of the restaurant, but the bar and majority of the seating was still open to guests. I sat at the bar. I was promptly greeted by the server and I requested the RW menu. I ordered the Chicha Margarita and then from the RW menu: Tuma Tartare Tacos, Chaufa de Mariscos, and Arroz con Leche Cheesecake. I think my favorite was the tuna, tartare tacos, as the guac and tuna were so fresh! I really liked the fried rice and cheesecake too though. My drink was well made. I went to another one of their locations in the DMV territory. I would say that Pisco & Nazca has been consistently exquisite! Every time I have a sporadic visit to this area, all I can think of is where I'll have my Peruvian food, and I highly recommend this place. I had a traditional ceviche w rocoto in the wide, porque pica mucho iykyk. The fish had that fresh taste just liked back home, and it hit the spot! The pulpo (grilled octopus) is one of my favorite dishes ever. The causa and chimichurri were amazing! Geez I'm beyond greatly satisfied w the food. They offer bottomless drinks for $24 for 2 hours (good if you plan on having more than 2 drinks). The place has a large bar and nicely decorated with some colors, but still elegant and contemporary. It came with 3 small pieces of fried chicken and 3/4 of a waffle - what happened to the other 1/4? I didn't care for the presentation. Both chicken and waffle were made well, but lacked flavor. Menu said homemade waffles, but it tasted like it could've been from a box. Chicken needed some seasoning or at least salt. I did have a bite from everyone's dishes in my group and the rest were beautifully presented and very flavorful - especially the pulled pork on the tostones and hash, as well as the tenderloin in the Lomo Saltado. Everyone made fun of my Chicken & Waffles and said it was probably a kid's meal. My husband and I recently had a great dinner at Pisco y Nazca in Bethesda with our friends, and we're already looking forward to coming back! The space is beautifully designed--stylish yet relaxed--with a lively bar at the front that immediately reminded us of their DC location. We arrived during their daily happy hour (4-7 pm), which is a fantastic deal. The Costa Verde cocktail I ordered was incredibly refreshing--bright, herbal, and balanced perfectly. My husband enjoyed his Guapo's, which had a nice kick without being overpowering. To start, we shared the Causa Sampler (which included tuna tartare, panko crusted shrimp, and chicken salad each over whipped potatoes) and Ceviche Sampler (which included Tradicional, Cremoso, and Callejero). We enjoyed the Tradicional the most and the Cremoso the most. Both of which were beautifully presented. For our entrees, I had the aji de gallina--the flavor of the stew was great, though the chicken was just a touch dry. My husband ordered the tacu seco de cordero (braised lamb shank), which was tender and hearty--a real standout. He even reheated the leftovers later that night and said it was still as good! Our server was sweet and we were charmed to learn it was only her second day on the job. She even surprised us with complimentary alfajores for dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch and a perfect end to the meal. The food, ambiance, and service all came together for a really enjoyable evening with friends. Just shy of a perfect five stars due to the slightly dry chicken, but overall, Pisco y Nazca is absolutely worth a visit--especially during happy hour. read more

I went here with my coworkers on Wednesday. Everything was amazing! We had the sangria, red wine, pisco spritz for drinks. For appetizers we had the chicken empanadas, the croquettas, and pulled pork tostones. For dinner, I had the tallarines verdes. Pisco is a great, fun spot to grab dinner and drinks with friends. It has a cool ambiance and the playlist was popping with some throwbacks and new hits. Service was great-- we asked our waiter for a lot of recommendations and he was very knowledgeable about the different dishes and their flavor profiles. The pisco sour flight was a delicious way to sample their popular flavors- the chicha was my favorite. The ceviche sampler had decent portions of all three varieties, which were all fresh and acidic. I wish it came with a couple more chips. The yuca was crispy on the outside, but soft and flavorful on the inside. This was my first time trying Corazon, or beef heart, and I was pleasantly surprised. It did taste like a little tougher steak, but the flavor was excellent and packed with umami and savory notes. I didn't really care for the pasta, but I am not a fan of creamy sauces so that was more of a personal preference. I will say that it was extremely rich. My favorite thing we tried by far were the pork tostones. I could have eaten all three. It was a perfectly balanced dish-- the pork was so juicy and tender, while the pickled onions added the zing and freshness it needed. Fun to have a new place in Bethesda! read more

Came for bunch and decided upon the 3 course Brunch Prix Fixe menu. You can only select one from each course. First course had six choices Second course had ten choices. Third course had five choices (three of which were desserts). Here is what I had: * First course: Empanadas de Ají de Gallina. The menu said it had chicken stew, ají amarillo, and rocoto pepper aioli. Warm, and tasty. The orange sauce for dipping was just an extra as the empanadas tasted really good on their own. You get 2 on the plate. * Second course: Resaca Burger. The menu said it's an 8 oz. ground beef burger, with rocoto aioli, queso fresco, sweet plantains, ají panca jam, shoestring potatoes, served on a brioche bun and the French fries are on the side. They will ask how you want your burger cooked. The burger was massive - after I took my first bite, I could taste everything. I really enjoyed it, and the fries were good too - you could tell they just made them. Ketchup is brought on the side even though the orange sauce came with the dish. * Third course: Blueberry Waffles. The menu said it will have blueberry compote, maple syrup, and whipped cream. I knew I could get waffles anywhere, but I ordered this because I haven't had "their" waffles. The waffles are served in quarters, and the blueberry compote is placed on each waffle. As I cut a piece and ate it, I realized I didn't need the maple syrup or whipped cream especially since the berries tasted perfectly along with the waffles. Now, I did eat a few pieces with the syrup and whipped cream just to see what it tasted like, and it took it to another level - so glad I got the dish. The syrup was in its own mini container, warm, and poured easily (not thick as some syrups are). No waffles were left when I was done. I forgot. I started the courses by having a drink called Café Bombón. It had sweetened condensed milk, espresso, and foamed milk. It comes with a mini spoon on the side. Yes, the glass cup was tiny, and once I mixed it, I think I drank it all real quick. It didn't last long, and I almost didn't get it because I am not a coffee drinker, but I do like latte's. This was so good - wished there was more. Our waiter was Daniel, who provided excellent service and answered any questions we had. I will be back for sure (good to know this location is now closer to us). Parking Tip If you decide to park at 2 Bethesda Metro Center, which is located below the building they are in (entrance to that garage is on North Lane), you can get 50% off your parking fee, if you dine in. Note: There isn't access to the restaurant within that garage. We parked one building over at Metropolitan Public Parking Garage 49, which is next to the Bethesda Metro Station.
