The forecast is calling for snow, so we ordered in through Uber Eats. This was probably the best chicken I've ever eaten. We ordered 1 and 1/2 chickens for 5 adults, and have lots of food left over! Yuca frites, black beans, fried rice, corn, onion salad... all fantastic as well. My only warning is that the corn comes in the cob, so only one person had corn. Best peruvian chicken in DC hands down. We moved to downtown last year and had been craving for a takeout peruvian chicken place the likes of the more famous ones in MD and tried a few, but this place beats out every other by a huge margin. Just the perfect spiced, juicy, fall of the bone tender, peruvian chicken accompanied with amazing beans, yuca fries or fried rice. Finger licking good!! Can't get enough of this place, we are now hooked on and at least pay a visit on a monthly basis if not more frequently. On a work trip in DC and ordered delivery to my hotel...This was seriously the BEST lomo saltado I have ever had. The sauce was really rich and flavorful, very generous portion, beef was delicious, the fries soaked up all the luscious sauce, I could seriously eat here every day haha Looking forward to trying the chicken burrito I ordered for breakfast tomorrow! This has to be the worst customer service that I have ever received. I placed an order for delivery and upon arrival I noticed my order was missing an item. I proceeded to call the delivery service that I ordered my food through to let them know that I was missing an item and they offered me the option to get my entire order resent (which was too much) so I called the restaurant and informed them of the situation and asked if the order could be adjusted and to be refunded for the item that was missing. (This is where things took a left turn!) During the first phone call the store associate that I was speaking with insisted that it was the delivery company's problem and that there was nothing that she could do to fix the situation. I ended the call and called back and asked to speak to a "Manager" (Thomas) who then proceeded to blame the delivery company (as if they are the ones who prepared and package my food) instead of agreeing to handle the situation and assuring me that I would be refunded he then began to call me "Home-Boy" told me that there was nothing that he could do and that situations like this occur all the time then he hung up on me because I told him that he was conducting hisself in a very unprofessional way. I try to stave off new food addictions but my brain simply does not cooperate when it comes to Chicken Rico. I always order the white meat with fried rice and black beans. We loved the food at the Hyattsville location that we had a few times, but after a few unsavory experiences at the new H Street location, I'm starting to lose that loving feeling. EVERY time we order ahead online the food is never ready for pickup, so we might as well just have ordered it while we were there. And last Friday we stopped in around 2pm to pick up food for later and a few of the staff were shouting (in a friendly way at least) to each other across the room obnoxiously. One girl was sitting at a table unpacking plastic utensils, and although she had a glove on one of her hands, she was using the other hand as well (without the glove), and eating at the same time, which was funny to watch but made me vow never to use their utensils because I can't get the image out of my head. Not that a glove really helps since she was scratching her head a few times with the gloved hand, but maybe if she just concentrated on getting the task done quickly instead of eating and yelling at the girl behind the counter, then customers like myself wouldn't be put off. We could see a little into the kitchen and even the guy who was handling food (cutting chicken? wasn't sure) was eating his own food as well. And to top it off, the chicken just seems to have gotten greasier and the sides are just not desirable at all. Even the green sauce didn't seem as spicy this time. read more

Everything I had was delicious. The plantains were cooked perfectly. The portions are big (not in a bad way). There were a lot of veggies in the steamed vegetables. The white rice was great! This place is delicious -- and you get so much food for your money! I had a fourth of a chicken, a heaping side of fried rice and another large side of spinach/potato, all for about $9. It works a lot like Chipotle in a line-order style, so you get your food immediately, and it was steaming hot. I came on a Saturday night for dinner and there were just a few people here; it's probably more crowded at lunch. Staff were friendly and competent. Will definitely come back! read more

So.freaking.good. We had never heard of Chicken Rico but ordered it tonight on Eat24. We live in SW and they still delivered and I am SO glad for it. New favorite delivery option. My husband had the quarter chicken with all white meat, white rice, and yucca fries. I had the chicken burrito. Burrito is about the same size as Chipotle, only full of so much more flavor. I couldn't finish it, but it was delicious. More noms for tomorrow! The yucca was heavenly, with the only downside being the sauce containers are too narrow for dipping once they get past halfway full. Rice was rice, perfectly cooked and plenty of it with some peas, the chicken was heavenly. Super tender and well seasoned. So much yums. Delivery was fast, food was hot, and prices are more than affordable. We'll definitely be frequent customers. read more

I had the Peruvian chicken here a couple of times. Really good, really moist and flavorful. Sometimes there's a lunch special for dark meat only, a favorite. This place is no bueno.. We probably got the first order on a Saturday morning that was left over chicken from the day before. All the flavors of Peruvian chicken is there, but it was ssooo dry! I've never had dry Peruvian chicken EVER! I don't care that it was white meat... Sardis never made dry white meat. The sides are also sad compared to other Peruvian chicken places I've been too. The salad is cole-slawy with iceburg lettuce instead of romain. It looked like it came from a premixed salad bag you get at the grocery story. The fried rice was edible.. but nothing too great, just soysauce and rice. Finally the sauces!!! The sauces to me are equivalent quality of the chicken. Their sauces had nice flavors, I like the verde.. but I like my amarillo sauce more watery, chicken rico's is more mayo-like. I was really excited to have a local peruvian chicken spot open so close, but this place is no bueno. We will still have to do the 20 min trek to Sardis. read more

Chicken is decent (hard to mess up rotisserie), though it really struggles to compete with a half dozen other franchises in the DMV. Sides are very bland, basically tasteless. The staff struggled to communicate (I had to repeat myself four times and they still put my dine-in order in a to-go box), and had an attitude. Everything they serve, from chicken to steaming hot side items to fountain drinks, is in toxic, hormone altering, non-durable Styrofoam. The little sauce cups are only halfway filled. Manages to seem both inauthentic and genuinely downscale at same time. It is reasonably cheap though. read more

Poor poor service. Ran out of soda. When asked if they would get some more the response was "it will be another hour". While they continued to charge people for sodas. Asked for my money back and the guy went into the employees tip jar I told him I don't want the employees tips and he said no matter. If I take it out the register I will have to explain why. He made a mistake and went back in my bag and dumped the fries back in with the other fries. He said he gave me more than I should get. My family and I went to visit The White House and do different things. I was looking for a Wal-Mart and came across one with this great restaurant beside it. I never been to one neither heard of it before. As we was going to Wal-Mart we passed it and my father mention to us that we can try this place. We proceeded to the Wal-Mart as i was thinking to myself he love trying new things. After we left Wal-Mart we meet a young lady who we was talking with coming out of wal-mart. We notice she was going into the restaurant we asked,"how is this place" she responded " fantastic" with a sparkle in her eyes. When you open the door you can smell the aroma of the chicken rotisserieing in the grill the people in there talking n laughing and really enjoying their food. As we got in line we meet one of the young black manager who was very nice and knowledgeable about the food and the cutting of the whole chicken for your dinner plate if thats what you perfer yes they have other item, but me personally wanted chicken. He gave us a demonstration of how the chicken is cut and what it meant about 1/2 chicken, 1/4 dark n 1/4 white chicken. Then the other young female black manage that was placing the sides was very informative about the sides and prices. So i got the 1/4 white chicken w/fried rice, string beans wth a side of corn. Everything i had was season jst right and very very good 5stars is what i will give it. The prices was reasonable n you get a lot of food the place was clean n organized. We all tried different sides frm the alfredo, coleslaw n black beans wth white rice jst delicious. Everything was so good I brought a plate to take bck hm to VA wishing we had one in VA. My sister brought an whole chicken for her n her daughter to take home bck to SC bc she was so pleased wth the food. Now you got to know that food is good n the staff n managers was pleasant wherein we took food home 3-8 hrs home. If you are in the area go check Chicken Rico out amazing. You will b please n happy to go and visit again n wishing one wld come near your area. Jst a suggestion thnk bout coming to VA the beach or Norfolk. I can't leave out Florence SC or Hartsville SC.
