Way overpriced for really low quality food. The worst quesadilla I've ever had. It tasted like they used potato as filler? The steak in the quesadilla was bone dry. The flour tortilla was store brand grocery store quality. The fish tacos were alright. The corn tortillas were bizarrely thick but the fish was ok. Not a ton of flavor. The chips (which were like $2+ extra; almost $5 if you want chips and salsa WTF) were straight trash. Great Value brand tortilla chips are better. $33 for a trash quesadilla, mediocre fish tacos, a couple bottled drinks and Dollar General level tortilla chips. Nah. read more

Food here is good but the District Taco app and rewards system is so terrible it feels deceiving. The machines only accept payment through phone 50% of the time. And when they do, I accumulate points but then can only redeem rewards 50% of the time. I just tried to use my $10 reward and the cashier told me to just pay with the app. I did, and I did not get to use the reward. Rewards are supposed to incentivize but they don't when they're this unreliable!! Also wish they would bring back pinto beans and the mild green salsa. read more

For about eight months, I've had District Taco almost monthly. Last night, I ordered two of my go to tacos (pollo asado and barbacoa), and chorizo with onion and cilantro (Mexican way). Colorado and Mestizo sauces. I also tried the chips and salsa too. The tacos were pretty good, sauces were nice. I think they could really improve the salsa that comes with the chips. To me, it really lacked any spice or taste to it. Chips are good though next time I might order those and make my own salsa. read more

I come here often and it's just because I really enjoy their chicken quesadillas (and their steak quesadilla is well seasoned too!) I'm never there on the right day to order the shrimp tacos but my boyfriend loves their California Burrito? I believe that is what it's called. It's huge and very flavorful and filling. (It has steak and potatoes in it) No matter what, I always order a large side of queso and chips (they come fresh and hot). I also add a side of the garlic lime rice. The place seems thoroughly clean and often busy. One thing I've learned with DT and all of their locations: CHECK YOUR ORDER. For some reason something is always MISSING or WRONG! But after a thorough check; I'm off to enjoying my meal to go & trying to eat the chips and queso on my way home. read more

Not worth it. Ordered a "California burrito", 3 tacos, and 3 churros. Everything was bland or overly salty and way overpriced. When we picked up our doordash order and saw it was one small bag we asked if that was it and they said yes. None of the sauces were included and the portion sizes were ridiculously small. I like this place. However, I feel they are taking advantage of recent inflation. I usually go in person but my most recent online order (where I can confirm pricing) was a little under 2 years ago. The same burrito in 2020 was $10.82 but now is $14.45. On top of that I was floored that adding extra steak would cost more than $6.00! I realize wages are going up because it's hard to find workers. I'm all for that even if it's not hard to find workers. I also realize that meat prices are going up quite a bit (though farmers aren't enjoying nearly as much of the price appreciation as middlemen and retailers). That's all fine but increasing the price by 33% over a period under 2 years doesn't seem right. And it's very hard to justify the price of extra meat. I don't know if it would be a double portion or not but the closest Chipotle charges $4.45 for double steak. I do believe the quality at District Taco is better than Chipotle so that helps justify the prices. Note too that the Chipotle is in an ostensibly more desirable business location so they might pay a higher rental rate. I'd like to be fair to the business so I'd like to see them respond to this posting. read more

Went there for dinner with my husband and based on our view as we were about to pay, my husband refused to order anything because of what we could see in their kitchen. The meat was there unrefrigerated and unattended for a while, food handling conditions are super questionable. The kitchen area looks dirty, we were literally afraid to eat there. read more

Gluten Free Review: District Taco is back! After having gotten frustrated with all the District locations for one reason or another, I have been avoiding District Taco for a year or more now. When District Taco first opened, it was so great to be able to get inexpensive, quick tacos that were GF. But the one in Eastern Market stopped taking their punch card; the one downtown wasn't consistent quality; and the one around Farragut was never tasty to begin with. So, eventually I stopped going. Today I showed up at the Giant in Silver Spring to do some grocery shopping. Unfortunately, I realized as I got out of the car that I was way too hungry to grocery shop without coming home with all kinds of impulse buys that were not a good idea. Anyone else have this problem? If I'm hungry, it's like I've never seen a supermarket before. Anyway, I cast wild glances around for somewhere GF to eat, and spied a District Taco that had opened kitty corner to the market. Luckily, it's Tuesday, and that's one of three days that they have their fish tacos. Two of them were solidly half the size of my head (idk if I have a big or small head. You decide). I keep forgetting that their pico de gallo has too much onion for my taste, but the salsa and cilantro and cabbage were tasty, and the fish tacos did what they needed to without making me ill. If you are looking for the best Baja style fish taco in the district, keep looking (and send me a message when you find it). But for a gf snack or small meal, it'll do you right. read more

The new kiosk ordering at this District Taco is useless. It near triples the amount of time required to place an order at District Taco. Just shows that Brandon and the other living wage fools have gotten District Taco to replace their friendly staff with machines so they dont have to be paid to work. Living wage has now destroyed the customer service at district taco. I guess that why the prices are similar to what they have been for awhile at District Taco. Had a breakfast taco here this weekend - my first time at a District Taco location, but I'm from Texas originally. I know a good breakfast taco, and this wasn't it. Bland. Disappointing quality on the tortillas - obviously not fresh made. "Medium" salsa barely had a kick to it at all. Overall, tasted more like something I'd get at a Whataburger than a taco shop. Not knocking Whataburger because sometimes (2 AM on a Thursday night) that's what you want, but it's not a good breakfast taco. Would be 2, maybe 3 stars anyway, but 30 minutes after my spouse and I left we were both hit - at the same time - by serious stomach pains. The music is actually worse than the food. A 18 years old probably selected the music without having a professional understanding of business. The chicken and beef have only dreamt of being marinated. It came straight from the refrigerator to your plastic plate. So hard that you cannot chew it without going to the DDS soon after. Stopped in. Disclaimer: I'm not a local, however I am from California so I know what good Mexican food is. We got in just before a crush of people got in line which was nice. We ordered and our food was brought out promptly. I thought overall this was a great place and I'd gladly go back. I ordered 4 tacos Mexican style and they were all on point. The meat was good but not totally amazing. Longer marinade times would help but it was still good. I thought the salsa bar was great; you can always tell how good a Mexican place is by the salsa and they did not disappoint. I love tomatillo / green based salsas and they have a spicy version that has plenty of heat. With tasty salted chips it hits the spot. The queso is very good (and I've had enough to say it is not in most places), although the portion could be bigger. One of us did not care for her bowl but that was the only miss. It is crazy loud which is unfortunate but if you can tolerate that this is a good spot. It's better than Chipotle and similar in setup, although the salsa bar here really makes a big difference. There's nothing (in my mind) like loading up fresh Mexican street style tacos with your salsa of choice, fresh onions and cilantro with a squeeze of lime over each. I'm leaving it 4 stars because I try to leave 5 for only amazing places. This place isn't amazing but it is very good and I think most people who live around Silver Spring will be happy with it. Came across this place by accident and being there 4 times. Gotta say it's indisputable that they emphasize on costumer service which is a plus for me. The food lacks little be of authenticity BUT it's good. The breakfast tacos are my favs. The have lots of seating available inside and outside which it's a hard thing to see in downtown silver Spring. I definitely suggest this place. A new and welcome addition to downtown Silver Spring District taco offers authentic, decently priced (for the DMV area) tacos that are actually quite delicious. Each taco ranges around $3.00-3.29 and they have several ways you can make them. My tacos are always fresh and delicious they have a nice little toppings bar that offers a variety of salsas,lime, cilantro, and anything you would need to top your taco. I believe they also offer Fish tacos on Tuesdays and the weekends but definitely check out their website to confirm. Nothing to write home about but the quality is solid. Though, it does depend on what you order. The guac is pretty watered down. Chipotle has better flour tortillas. But I like the carne at DT a lot more, and I'm obsessed with the breakfast tacos. I also like that they have potatoes as a topping option. Give me all the carbs. The queso is also good, though a little pricey. Last but not least, the staff at the Silver Spring location are super nice. So I had too...the first time I tried this place it was subpar and they messed up my order but I was in the mood for tacos after watching Taco Chronicles on Netflix. So with the quarantine and many businesses are not open I decided to try this place again. So let the review begin... My order consisted of 3 tacos (barbacoa, carnitas & carne asada), chips and queso, guacamole and salsa (which they forgot). I'll start with the tacos two words bland and uneventful. The carne asada out of the three was the best and thats a very low bar. The barbacoa was tasteless and no matter what sauce I added I couldn't finish it. Now to the chips and queso that was not a huge fail it was actually next to the steak taco made my $17 not such a disappointment if I had just pd for that. Lastly, the guacamole...something was off with the consistency and it like the rest of the food had no flavor AT ALL! So needless to say against my better judgement and $17 later this meal did not measure up. It's fast-casual tacos and Mexican, so my obvious point of comparison is Chipotle. With that as a comp, it holds up. I'm particularly fond of the chicken tacos, but the al pastor are also very good. My one complaint would be that there isn't a lot to recommend salsa pairings- you sort of have to mix and match, and sometimes that can lead to some bad combinations. The fresh salsa bar is nice, and this location has a very fast WiFi connection, which was helpful the week we were moving into our new apartment complex. The space is also bright and has plenty of outlets, so it's nice if you're working over lunch. read more

I had my first experience with #districttaco off east-west highway in Silver Spring. It will be my last visit. I was told tacos are sold in threes. So, I ordered three tacos and asked for guac. I didn't realize until after I paid that I was charged $1.96 per taco....and when asked why I was charged $1.96 per taco rather than per order. He simply said it's per taco! Long story short... I paid $6 to have a small dollop (emphasis on small) of guac put on my tacos and $19 and change for 3 tacos with guac and a bottle of water. What a rip off! The grilled veggies were onions and green peppers (I guess you classify that as "veggies"... the guac was extra and they gave me extra.... All my beard and face could taste was guacamole. This location is perfect! It is right beside Giant and has plenty of parking. They will be on GrubHub soon! We ordered tacos and a vegetarian burrito bowl with Chips and Queso. Everything was great however my fiance and I both agree their items could use more meat or Itza the meatless option. Giving my first low rating and I'm disappointed to do so. I'm a fan of district taco, I use to frequent the location in DC often and get my breakfast and lunch there (2-3x a week). When I found this location I was so excited I ordered a burrito with Itza ( their vegan protein). One I could taste that the itza is now made with beyond meat and lacked the seasoning it once did at the dc location. The fillings in the burrito was lacking as well. I had to open the burrito to check if they even had cheese or itza, which wasn't hard to do because it was already unraveling and some of my filling was falling out from the bottom. I got so frustrated with my burrito just falling apart I just threw it away. Had I been at the location I'd try to get a refund but I already got comfy at home. Disclaimer: As a former resident of Austin, I am a self proclaimed taco snob. The service: This place is run like a well oiled machine. I noticed it gets a big lunch rush at 12:15, but the employees are snappy! The taco: I got the veggie tacos on flour tortillas. Tortilla: Feels fresh but the texture is not as doughy as I would want it to be. Quac: very oniony, but fresh and creamy. Overall flavor: honestly a little bland. I put pico and medium salsa on them and I still felt they needed more flavor. The chips: Thick yellow corn chips- I'll pass on these next time they aren't as good as Tostitos imo. District Taco has really good food. They recently opened up in my neighborhood. So I frequent them quite often probably about once a week. They have an excellent rewards program when it works! There have been more than one occasion where I have gone into the establishment and the scanner is broken. It is very frustrating when. Sometimes when you go into establishment and the scanner doesn't work and I am unable to utilize other methodologies. Other ways that I can use my receipt to get credit for the purchase and thereby not affecting my ability to take advantage of the awards. It is flabbergasting to me that this was not implemented at District Taco. It almost feels intentional. Even the staff have no idea how to do it. They must have wondered; they work there. So I'm not sure why it isn't there. Anyway my favorite thing at District Taco is fish taco days. The challenge with fish taco days is that the fish takes a little while to cook. Which is a good thing so to combat that I have come up with the strategy. Basically you need to use the app to order ahead of time so that you don't have to wait around for them to cook the fish tacos. Simple and effective. read more
