My friends and I had a really good time here. From the fun and attentive customer service to the food, it was truly a weekday evening well spent. Now of course parking is trash - especially when you want to watch your coin but if you luck up and find street parking (like I did) the pricing isn't bad. I informed the host that I was running behind on my reservation due to parking and there was no issue. We had outdoor seating with a view of the water, boats and bridge in the distance. There were people outside enjoying the weather and plenty of kids playing. It was nice to cheer on some graduates that were taking pictures and enjoying the park with their family. Overall it was a very nice atmosphere inside and out. Alex and Gabriel were so welcoming and on point with checking in on us and making honest recommendations. We never had to ask for a refilled glass of water or wait for an extended time for assistance to address a need. Top-notch customer service. Major kudos to them for making the experience fun. Our plan was to make the most of the Flights & Bites menu and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the Weekends on the Water flight (sauvignon blanc for the win) but I was not a fan of the dry rosé that was offered. I was able to get a substitute which was awesome for them to accommodate. My friends enjoyed the Full Bloom flight. The brussel sprouts were very good, with the right level of crisp. The shrimp salad with red curry aioli wasn't my favorite but I appreciate the flavor combination. The crispy soy glazed chicken bites were filling, a nice portion for us to enjoy while enjoying our wines. The grilled cheese was a hit. The sweetness of the tomato jam was savored - there was contemplation for a second order. I recommend checking District Winery out and I would definitely come back. read more

The food was really mediocre. The service was average. Other than the river view there is not anything spectacular about the decor.

We finally decided to give this old favorite another chance after seeing some menu updates had been made. Very pleased to say that things have much improved since my last review! While I still miss some of the standout items from the old menu, there were enough options this time that everyone was happy with the dishes ordered. The Caesar salad and crab arancini were simple but spectacular. The meatballs were also a hit with the group. The service was great as well with attentive and responsive waitstaff. Keeping it at four stars as I do think it's a shame that you can no longer get wine flights at the table with your meal. Came for a wine tour and tasting and had an amazing time! The tour was small, twelve people. We were in the back room where they make the wine and all of the tables were well socially disanced. We tried 10 or so wines, a mix of red and wine, with one rose and one sparkling. Our tour guide was super fun and knowledgeable and lead a great tour. For the number of wines we tasted and the amount of information we received, the tour was a great value, about $40 a person for 90 minutes. We stayed for dinner after and were extremely happy. The grilled cheese is a MUST. We also loved the chicken soy bites and the fries. They have a flights and bites deal on weekdays that I'd love to come back for. The food is pricey for what is essentially upscale pub food. I wouldn't recommend coming for a full dinner but this is a great spot for appetizers and drinks or happy hour. Our table outside had a fire place which added to a great aesthetic and kept us super warm. This place doesn't have a full bar so come prepared to drink wine. To be expected since it's a winery. If you're not super into wine they do have one wine punch that is essentially a sangria. Super yummy and would recommend. The service was pretty slow and we had to ask the hosts to send a waiter to our table a few times. Otherwise a great experience and would highly recommend visiting this place. read more

This city winery is conveniently located in the lovely neighborhood of Navy Yard. It also has a beautiful view of the Anacostia River. I came here for a Sunday reservation at 5pm so brunch was already over, but they have an all day food menu if you want to eat. Their menu is not extensive but they have a variety of plates and snacks. If you are looking for a larger meal, I suggest coming earlier in the day for brunch where they have their main dishes or if you arrive after brunch, you can order multiple small plates which can be shared. My party had 3 orders of the the house made pork sausage sliders which were flavorful and a 2 orders of fries which we all shared. They have a great deal on Sunday's where you get 50% off their wine bottles! My friends and I decided to choose our own flights which I suggest doing. Then we ordered a bottle of the Blanc de Blanc which was our favorite out of all the ones we tried. It's a refreshing sparkling wine to have especially when it's hot outside. We chose outdoor seating so it was the perfect wine to enjoy out in the heat. It's not sweet or too dry so it's a happy medium for all wine lovers. :) This is a great spot for a date or a nice outing with a group. The service started a little slow. It took almost 15 min before we were greeted (it wasn't crowded at all). It's was close to closing. When our server finally came, she did redeem herself because every recommendation was on point! We started with the Cesar salad; cheese and wine. I went to District Winery during their happy hour which runs from 3-5pm. Glasses are $7 on the happy hour so I tried the Riesling and the Chardonnay, which were both wonderful. We also got the grilled watermelon and the snow camp cheese plate. The grilled watermelon was incredible with great spices on it. The cheese plate was also very tasty, but I was expecting a little more cheese. We sat on their outdoor patio overlooking the river and it was such a nice ambiance on a summer day. They have fans outside so it doesn't get too hot and the patio is shaded. Our server was new but she was great and even brought us glasses of ice for our water because she thought the water might be getting warm from being outside. Definitely recommend! read more

Went to District Winery for a birthday dinner. Due to being the host of the night I was unable to take any pictures. We participated in the chefs call feast option. I am not going to lie I was disappointed on what we were served. For $65.00 a person it would have been better to just order different things off the menu. They started us off with charcuterie boards and salad. The charcuterie boards were very good. Can't really go wrong there. The salad was just okay. Next they brought out Brussels sprouts, broccolini and sweet potato's. The sauce of with the broccolini and sweet potato's was good. To our surprise they announced the main and last course would be out next, they brought beef cheek tortellini, some sliced steak with minimal potato's and a chicken dish. Another thing to note is the way the sides were served before the main course. I like to have my main dish with a side, not eat a bunch of veggies then they be taken away for plates of just solely meat to come out. We were given no explanation of the food, what it was, someone had to go up and ask if they could let us know what we were being served. When picking where to host the birthday dinner I looked over their menu and was really excited going into to. Overall it just was not the experience I thought we'd have for $65.00 a person (not including taxes, gratuity, and fees). I know this is something new they are offering but the way it was advertised was it will be at the "whim of the chef" not normal items on their regular menu that we would not have chosen. On a positive note, Toni the manager was an absolute pleasure to work with. She answered all of my emails, spoke with me over the phone and made sure the night itself ran smoothly. I rarely feel the need to write a "scathing review" for an establishment, but we had an unbelievably disappointing experience here. My girlfriend received a gift card for District Winery, and even corresponded with this location's staff when she lost the redemption code for it. We read online that gift cards can be used for tours, tastings, or the restaurant. When we first walked in, we told the hostesses that we had a gift card to use, and they said we could simply just let the people at the Tasting Bar know, which we did immediately and before beginning our tasting. The night took a turn when we went to pay for the tasting, and our server (who was amazing) and the manager told us that the kind of gift card we had wasn't available for use at the Tasting Bar or the Restaurant -- Only for tours. Apparently there are two different types of gift cards for this one location. Wtf?? They wouldn't reimburse us in any way, though it is still unimaginable to us how we could have possibly known that a gift card to "District Winery" couldn't actually be redeemed there. Or why, when we first entered and stated we had a gift card multiple times before purchasing anything, no one thought to mention that there were 2 different types with extremely different spending parameters. We stopped by on a warm 50* winter evening for a drink. We noticed there was a wedding going on (which was cool that they do weddings here). We each had a cocktail (I had an old fashioned, which was awesome) and we split the burger. I loved it, the burger was cooked medium rare and was very flavorful. I went to use the bathroom and noticed folks from the wedding changing inside. Personal preference, but I probably would want my own private bathroom for my wedding, rather than sharing with a public restaurant, but to each their own! The wait staff was delightful. One of the chefs came out to talk to a table near us who had a few questions about their meal, which was really cool to see. We also noticed quite a few babies, so it's very baby friendly. We came here as a group after work, and their HH runs weekdays from 3 to 5 PM. Three of us had the best time at District Winery, trying flights, charcuterie, and small plates. We had an excellent sommelier who didn't steer us wrong (and actually curated one of the wine flights!) Food- the charcuterie board, though a bit expensive, was delicious and came with a nice selection of meat, cheese, fresh made bread, pickles and toffee. I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. We had the duck wings as an appetizer which was delicious. They were a little spicy and it almost reminded me of ribs. We also had the shawarma and burger with fries. Both were really tasty. Since they specialize in wine we tried the red wine flight. Our favorite was the Barbera, so we each got a bottle. The bottle was good but I feel like it tasted better at the restaurant. In addition to the meal I liked the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. They had large open windows and a romantic feel. My experience here was, for lack of a better word, fine. I was seated and waited over 20 minutes before anyone came to the table to greet and get us water or take our drink order. When we first ordered, the waiter asked how we wanted to split the bill for our table of four. We appreciated that he was able to split it up front and we didn't even have to ask. However, at the end of the night when we got the bill it was all together and be said there was no way to split it. Not a big deal but mildly annoying. We also didn't have our server come by for long periods of time, which was made more challenging as several times he forgot what we had ordered and we had to order again. My friend ordered the same glass of wine 3 times over a long period of time before it was delivered. The wine was pretty good but nothing that stood out as great. We did the flights which were $17 for 3, 2 oz. pours. There isn't much of a food menu; just a few options for shared plates. The brussel sprouts were the best part of the evening. They were perfect. Everything else was just fine. The grilled cheese was not very cheesy and surprisingly oddly sweet with the tomato jam. The sweet potato dip was different but tasty. The dessert options were weird. We tried both the grapes and ice cream and the chocolate. Neither were really worth getting, though the grapes were definitely unique. We had a great experience during our tasting here! First time we ever came and redeem my one free tasting and we actually ended up doing 2 tastings and taking home 2 bottles of wine. A lot of their grapes come from California and one specifically in Virginia which is petit manseng - one of my faves actually. Tasting room was small so I don't think it can occupy a lot of people but we did just fine. Bathrooms were nice and the place is huge. I reserved 2 spots for the noon tour on Saturday. It was mostly a wine tasting where we were placed in a room with all of the machines they use throughout the process of fermentation and bottling the fine. The tasting was packed with information not only about grapes and where they are grown but also the history of wine making and the different types of wine (I had no idea orange wine was a thing). We tasted 7 wines; 3 whites, 1 rosé, 1 orange, and 2 reds if I remember correctly. I'm not a wine connoisseur so I'm not good at detecting flavors, but it was great to have a guide who could help us to understand this. Also during the tasting we learned that the CEO is very active in everything in the wining activities, which is a great aspect for this company. We didn't end up buying any of the wines that we tasted, but we did enjoy ourselves and learned a lot about the history of wine. At their tasting bar on the lower level, District Winery offers three tasting selections to choose from - each comes with 5 wine tastings. Ranging in price from $14-$16, this is a great way to sample a few of their offerings if you don't want to drop anywhere between $19-$36 for a bottle you're not sure you'll like. We choose the seasonal tasting ($14/ per person) which came with a sampling of both white and red wines - each wine was better than the last! There was a wedding reception taking place upstairs while we were there, but District Winery does have a food menu, events, and offers tours of their facilities as well. We will definitely be back to see how well they pair their dishes and wine. Overall, I would suggest District Winery for couples, friends, or a solo trip if you just want a great glass of wine, at a reasonable price, that comes with an awesome view! read more

We visited District Winery for the first time last week just to grab a drink before we went to dinner. We arrived around 730pm and the place was pretty busy. The four of us tried to grab a spot at the bar, but there wasn't enough space for all of us to sit so a few of us had to stand around which wasn't a big deal. The service at the bar was a little slow, but they were pretty busy so it was understandable. When we ordered a couple of us wanted to try the warm holiday punch cocktail, but they had run out. We ended up getting the other seasonal cocktail drinks and they were pretty good - nothing mind blowing or anything. I think District winery is a solid 3 stars. The brewing facility is enclosed with glass so you can look at the barrels and equipment. It's quite a production. There is street parking, which is hit or miss. I used the parking lot and paid $8 for approximately 4 1/2 hours. It was cheaper than metro for two people during rush hour. There isn't an attendant at the parking exit, so make sure you have a credit or debit card. You can see Nationals Stadium and The Wharf from the restaurant. The outside patio is wonderful. They even have a fire pit. The catered food is really good. The have menu options for vegetarians. The staff was great.
