What a disappointment. Imagine my shock showing up here for dinner only to find that the menu has been completely scrapped!!! The current menu is a fraction of what the restaurant used to offer. Allegedly the same chef as this past year but damn everything was so disappointing and lackluster. We did a tasting/tour prior to the meal, so we enjoyed a 10% off, but not worth it. Watered down version of what this restaurant used to be. I will not be back :(:(

    The lanai view!

Enjoyed pupus and beverages upstairs in their private hall, which spilled over onto their lanai with an amazing view! The pupus were healthy and delicious, with flavorful crackers, hummus, nut bars, charcuterie board, and server shared mini crab cake bites, skewers, mini PB n J bites, and stuffed dates. The bar servers were quick and always served with a smile, as I refilled the same soft drink several times. The bartender remembered my drink order, heh heh! The private room is spacious with lots of windows, the restrooms are well appointed - with the normal helpful female offerings, and then some! There are a bit of stairs to climb, but if you need it, there is an elevator to ride. One day I'll return for a regular meal, for sure! There is an Astroturfed mini park right outside, with lounge chairs and picnic tables, which many children and families enjoyed. (Great place to wait for the ride shares to return to our hotel!)

Free parking is a nightmare here. You find one, you're lucky. Otherwise park in the lot next to this restaurant. It's not cheap but at least you're guaranteed a spot BECAUSE....bit's not cheap. Restaurant is beautiful, staff and servers are friendly and informative. We started with a platter to share.. the charcuterie board was plenty enough to share amongst 6. Can't remember what we ordered but whatever we ordered (7 entrees) were tasty and we polished off everything.

The district winery is such a beautiful wedding venue. It's a working winery and restaurant but was closed due to the wedding and they transform the upper level into a beautiful event space. The staff was friendly from opening doors to the check coat person to the servers. It was wonderful getting to try different wines special to them. The surrounding area is beautiful for pictures. The upstairs has a beautiful view of the city and makes for great pictures especially as the sun was setting. They have a heated outdoor patio type place where you could hang out and feel like you were outside but without the bitter cold. It was such a lovely experience and they know how to put on for a wedding.

I came here with a group of fellow Social Workers to celebrate Social Work Month. I've always walked past this place in the Navy Yard and assumed it might be expensive, but to my surprise, their brunch and wine tasting prices are pretty reasonable. We did both. The tasting area is separate from the dining room. You can't do tastings in the brunch area, but you can order food in the tasting area. One thing I liked about brunch is that they allow you to taste up to two wines you may be interested in pairing with your meal. I chose to wait until the wine tasting portion, though. I ordered the DIY mimosa, they bring you a bottle of champagne and a small pitcher of juice so you can make your own mimosas. I really liked that and think all restaurants should do the same, especially when ordering bottomless mimosas. For food, I ordered the apple butter milk pancakes. Instead of butter, they were topped with vanilla bean gelato, so delicious I didn't even need syrup! I also ordered a side of bacon. Our server, she was great! She allowed us to split the check rather than making the whole group pay on one tab, which worked much better for us. The wine tasting portion was also pretty much DIY. I really liked that they provided note cards describing the flavor profile of each wine, and space to rank them and note whether the taste matched your expectations. I highly recommend this place and would definitely come back to try more food and wines.

I came for brunch with a group of 12. Service was very slow. However, they did manage everything well enough for the size of our party, and they let us stay as long as we wanted. The brunch portions are large and the quality of the food is good. Prices are very reasonable. They do add a service fee that is not tip.

I really wanted to give this place a 5, but I don't like businesses that charge service fees on top of gratuity. Keep in mind they charge mandatory 20% on groups 6 or larger (pretty normal). This location has in small print on the menu they charge a 5% service charge for the benefit of their employees (fair wage and well-being). I thought their staff were great and the service was awesome, very attentive. However, i believe the business owners should be providing a fair wage regardless of the service charge as their menu prices are very much competitive for the area. $48 for a charcuterie, $21 for a burger, and $14-18 for a single glass of wine. We absolutely loved the food. The charcuterie had a delicious orange compote, Parmesan and Brie cheese and 3 different types of meats (shared between 5). I had the brunch burger which was delicious and i loved the side potatoes, very crispy and packed with flavor. For wine I had a house made blanc de blanc which was fabulous. Overall, I would totally come back. Services charges always just make me question the integrity of the business. Raise prices if needed but if your prices are competitive just pay your employees fairly, versus charging your customers after they're already paying a higher end for your services/food.

We stopped in for a tasting and dinner one afternoon and it was okay. The establishment has a nice ambiance but service was a bit on the slow side. The wines were a bit underwhelming. There wasn't anything we tasted that was worth purchasing a bottle of. The menu offered small plates but a lot of the items had a focus on green peas for some reason. While we didn't have a bad experience it's probably not someplace we'd head back to or recommend to friends.

I rarely leave reviews like this, but improvements come with honesty. Firstly, I will mention all the things great about this place. The decor and music added to the lively ambiance of the restaurant. It has a modern, chic vibe with high top and low top seating overlooking the waterfront view of the Anacostia River. The music selection for the day was excellent; a mix of R&B, pop, and old song bangers. The mocktails were the best items ordered from the menu. Exceptional flavors and nice presentation. The table agreed the drinks and chocolate chip cookies were the best things consumed that night. Now moving on to the service. As our party was on the larger side, we were able to be serviced by both the manager and a waiter which was a plus. The manager noticed we had been waiting for a while for get water and to be serviced, so she stepped in and addressed our questions. However, this is where things took a turn for the worst. Everyone was interested in partaking in the Indulge Experience and we made sure to alert the waiter to the food allergies and intolerances in the party. We were assured that the chef could accommodate, so we went forward with ordering. The first dish had items that were not previously noted that someone at the table could not eat. The waiter noticed that the food item was touching the others, and promised to bring the individual their own plate, but it took 15 minutes to bring the non-allergenic plate. The order dishes came out sporadically with little to know explanation of what was being served, which an explanation was expected since the Indulge Experience serves items " based on the mood of the chef " as it was explained to us. Majority of the items had spring peas which the table was tired of as it was served in the charcuterie board, dumplings, and " hush puppies ". We informed the waiter that we did not want any more peas and was responded with " these are not peas, these are fava beans ". As you can see from the photos, peas were everywhere. More variety should be offered in the experience. The meat served seemed unseasoned, especially the beef served with potatoes and brocoli. The chicken had a mambo sauce inspired feel, but was extremely tangy. The avocado toast was unremarkable, and was left uneaten as the presentation was horrible. The straw that broke the camel's back was being overcharged by 2 menu items. The party noticed the mistake after cards were charged and when we brought it to the attention of the staff, we were met with hostile attitudes. I am giving it a 2 star review simply because our palates were satisfied with the drinks and cookies. I would go back if real changes are implemented. Recommendations: have the staff become knowledgable about the dishes they are serving, be more accommodating to allergies, make sure service is provided promptly, and work on the attitudes of the servers.

We enjoyed a wine tasting with a charcuterie board. The wine and food were good but the ambiance really made the experience. We sat on the patio by the water. It seemed like the tasting bar was short staffed. I wish we were guided through the wines but we were just provided the pours and given a paper that had the names of the wine on them. Overall, we had a good experience and would go back again.

Three stars for the food, four for the drinks, and four for the ambiance equals an average of four stars. We tried the crab "fondue" (which is crab dip). It comes with veggies but you have to pay extra for the cracker chips...? We also had the crispy potatoes and broccolini. Potatoes needed more seasoning or a ton more dip than the small portion. Broccolini was a bit tough instead of tender. Drinks were amazing. HIGHLY recommend "Figure it out," which is a fig-infused bourbon with walnut bitters. The location was great, and the ambiance was good--we sat on the patio on a warm fall evening! They do close at 10 on Fri/Sat so plan accordingly.

Great spot! Located near Potomac River. There is a rooftop! Make reservations because it gets crowded. Service was very good. We had brunch and cocktails. What a great vibe. Especially on a nice day.

First off great ambiance-- surely a whole vibe if you're sitting in the outdoor area near the water. Service was prompt and friendly too. We weren't too hungry, so we only ordered a charcuterie board and white wine. Overall, the food and wine were average. I'll be back to try out their wine tasting program!

That restaurant moved to Penn Quarter a year ago and it's been about 4 years since I last went. I didn't even think I was in a new restaurant until I couldn't find the gold rabbit logo. The interior of the two restaurants is similar enough and having rolls with salmon roe topping your honey miso butter is not far off from what you might have found eating a fried chicken dish with a subtle Vietnamese twist at Moon Rabbit. The concept of WillowSong is nothing new: farm-to-table. But the flavors are beyond what we could of expected! The waiter explained how the chefs source their food from farms within a certain geographical radius. I definitely recommend a visit here for a special dinner that will leave you wanting to come back. The house made milk bread was served piping hot. The aroma - as I picked one roll up - was so indicative of bread you knew you were going to enjoy. The honey miso butter was not typical, and I loved it. It had a citrusy aftertaste and was not too sweet. I didn't eat the salmon roe - mentioned earlier topping the honey miso butter - but it was an interesting juxtaposition. The Squid Ink Oricchiette - black elbow pasta - was lovely. I asked the waiter, "Which is more popular here, the sea bass or the oricchiette?" He confidently said that if he had to choose, it would be the oricchiette and the Yelp reviews say the same. There was an inherent subtle heat and the jumbo lump crab meat was tasty. The squid ink pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the tomato jus herb crumble was well-seasoned. The micro greens garnish added such a nice, crisp crunch. The citrus olive oil ricotta - underneath of the pasta - had a good balancing effect. The grilled maple citrus pork chop - when featured - is a not-to-miss! The flavors were divine. You got the sweetness of the maple sauce and a really nice sear with the char-grilled aftertaste. Just the kind of flavor I look for. Cutting into the pork chop was easy as it was so tender. All of the herb and vegetable flavors in the charred gratin (Swiss chard simmered in a creamy garlic sauce) really came together for something delightful. The Swiss chard was cooked well, yet had a good crunch with a definite farm-to-table flavor, straight from the garden. We were here on a weekend night. A rowdier after-9pm crowd formed for a televised game. I've seen it much busier here on weeknights at Moon Rabbit, before 9pm, and the waiter said the crowds here are similar. I liked that it was more bustling on the boardwalk and calmer inside of this restaurant, before the sporting event crowd around the bar. There are so many restaurants to choose from at the Wharf, and many of them are packed and touristy. When you step inside of WillowSong, there is no crowding and the environment is calm. I would next like to try the Hamache Tartar. It is made with chili oil, preserved lemon, scallion, cashew, Eva's Garden mouse melon, serrano and cilantro. The staff said the breakfasts at WillowSong are very popular and are from 9am to 1pm. Cornmeal pancakes? Hello. Look at the Yelp photos to see the breakfast offering deliciousness at WillowSong. If the birthday dessert that we enjoyed was any indication, I would have to believe him. It was a chocolate brownie-like pastry with granola and graham crust, flowers and fruit. The dark chocolate ganache was decadent. This was a hazelnut dessert which I would have never ordered because I find the flavor overpowering. They kindly surprised us by bringing out a dessert they chose, with a lit candle and singing. I was so glad that the hazelnut flavor was subtle and that it did not taste like a Nutella dessert. The birthday dessert was subtlety-flavored with hazelnut but chocolatey and rich, otherwise. I think there was oatmeal or granola in it. This was a decadent experience. Love that the restaurant has margaritas and sangrias on draught. In the sangria you can find: mango purée, white wine, apple brandy and soda water. Would love to try, next time. As much as I love the Vietnamese fusion fare at Moon Rabbit, I was equally as delighted with the more global dining experience at WillowSong. And the lovely, warm service.

The brick exterior coupled with the large white-walled interior provided the perfect "blank canvas" to backdrop our event. We hosted nearly 100 people and had plenty of room for a live band and bar. The reason this review earned three stars was because of venue management. An important aspect of North Hall is that they will not let you do any setup prior to the event unless you pay per hour. As an example: our event started at 5pm and we had to pay 500$ more to start setup at 3pm. The real issue arose when we were informed that we could not leave anything in a closet or kitchen in order to make the "day-of" prep easier. Management allowed absolutely nothing from entering or remaining in the space despite there being no event prior to our reception. On a positive note, the two hour setup window provided a testament to how amazing our vendors were; they created a beautiful space with no help from North Hall. The management induced plenty of undue stress by being unclear of what permits were needed for the event. They went on to remind us with little time to prepare. This issue manifested itself one week prior to our wedding day, where our wedding coordinator, my wife, and myself scrambled to get permits for food, alcohol, etc. Overall, North Hall is truly lovely, but future customers should be aware that this venue is fortified by the bureaucracy of Washington D.C. Much like your local trip to the DMV, illogical policies and the lack of regard for the individual reign supreme. Weddings are stressful and emotional, no one should have to deal with the inefficiencies of government and the shortcomings of bureaucrats on their special day.

I would recommend this place for any business or social function. A few side notes: The parking was not a problem and the staff was extremely helpful. The bill is in some what of an a la cart format so try to get ALL the fees up front. Be sure to stick to the allotted timeframe so you don't have extra rental hour fees. Go with the bulb lighting! DJ Dan is the contract...they can provide the info.
