I had not been to this divy bar in years. We're talking before the pandemic when I just happened to stumble upon some old high school friends that I literally have not seen since graduation. The occasion then was happy hour and I recall having a great time, but I never actually wrote a review. While out celebrating for my birthday, I walked by and I saw that they have all night happy hour on Mondays. And much to my joy, it was Monday, so after dinner my girlfriend and I came back and stopped in. A lot of places tend to be closed on Mondays, and don't even think about looking for a happy hour late at night! As I said earlier, the place is divy, but the staff are really nice and they know how to make their drinks. I lost track of how many tequila shots I had, but we had a great time and I couldn't have thought of him or chill way to bring in my birthday. I am not sure exactly when I'm coming back, but it is definitely going to stay in my rotation of bars when the time seems appropriate. Honestly, I can't speak to the overall quality of this spot since I went for a Survivor DC event, but it was perfect for that. There's enough space in the back for groups as you chat and catch up. They have all sorts of drinks without a steep price tag. Murals decorate the walls. It's a short walk to the U Street Metro making it very accessible. read more

I came here with two friends for trivia on Tuesday and it was such a blast! It's a pretty cozy bar with not many tables downstairs and I believe a few upstairs. The bartenders are great - I had a couple moscow mules and they were a good strong pour! Trivia was really fun and I definitely recommend the host. I ordered the chicken tenders and fries and really enjoyed them. Their happy hour deals are amazing! Will be back here soon for sure. read more

It can get packed inside since it is relatively small but there's actually good amount of seating for how small it is. Attended a birthday party on the upper floor. Good (warm) lighting and the brick wall was good for photos. And the private bathroom (one stall) and photo booth was a nice touch. Nice bar in the DC area. It has great specials, food was real good, and the bartenders were nice. It's probably the best bar/sports bar for the price in the area. I'm a wings guy and these are quality wings. They must bread the wings a bit, but I love it because it soaks up the Buffalo sauce some more. The Buffalo sauce is real good as well, a good blend of hot sauce/butter/whatever else they use. My wife got the chorizo quesadilla and it was pretty good as well. Nice char and grill marks, chorizo made it a bit greasy but that's expected. Overall great meal. Definitely would recommend as a neighborhood bar! read more

Welp- discovered Sudhouse only because our PubPass & the experience was very different from what we expected. Researching locations on the PubPass, we chose Sudhouse because of their ample craft beer variety posted & HH promotions via their website- Upon arriving, we were informed, despite what their entire website/yelp says, the HH only covered a small section of domestic brews, the draft local brews were $10+ a pint, & mostly everything listed was tapped. Was very frustrating to have an unexpected high bill , especially when the brewery is nearby offering same beer at $7 & we were even there on HH-not like the ambiance carried the upcharge, as the bartender basically left us, ignoring us the majority of the time- leaving some random guy from the bar nearby to just go behind the bar & help us.. They also have a few tv's that show mostly sports games... we watched a tennis match! They have jamming modern music and bar type food and drinks! *The drinks we got weren't on the happy hour menu because we like to be extra !* Laura and Bridget were awesome! Came to meet a friend on a Thursday night. First time here! Great mix of crowds of people! There's 3 floors. The middle floor is tiny and big enough for like 3 tables and overlooks the bar on the first floor. The top floor is kind of small too but they have some games up there. People were playing corn hole when I went up to look. I think there was another bar up there too Main floor, seemed like the bartender was the only person working - besides the people who brought out the food and cleaned the areas. So it seemed like it took a long time for her to swing around - but she was a beast, handling everyone's orders and drinks! Give her a raise :) Happy hour everyday from 4-6. It's a sports bar with multiple TVs. We were looking for a place to watch the baseball while on U st and we were happy to have found this bar. There's a large selection of drinks and I was able to try a bunch of different beers I had yet to try in DC since being there. The bartenders were up for a chat every now and again and they made sure we always had something to drink which definitely kept us happy. My partner ordered a fried sampler which had a bunch of different fried foods including mozzarella sticks and chicken wings. The items were delicious but it did feel like a lot after eating only half. I'd recommend it as a snack for at least three people unless you think you're good with fried foods in which case order one for yourself! read more

Sud house gets high marks for food and price, and looses ratings on ambiance and service. Good news first--the food is great! The jalapeño poppers were hand-made as were the mozzarella sticks. The 50/50 burgers were a novel treat and nicely made with fresh ingredients. The drinks were competently made. Two rounds of drinks, appetizers for two and dinner ran $90 before tip. This is very reasonable in DC. And that's the good news. Now... The place is small, and it was a busy Saturday--but not slammed. Everyone had a seat, either at the bar or at one of the handful of tables scattered around. However, table service was intermittent at best. Our drink and appetizer order was taken at the table, but I had to go to the bar to place our entree order, order our second round and ask for the check. Napkins were never brought with anything. I had to ask for a fork (...good thing I speak rudimentary Spanish). Atmosphere? Forget about it! The restroom is truly open to the public--prostitutes, drunk club kids, etc. It's unbelievably loud, and the narrow space makes for a challenging dinner experience. One of the aforementioned stumbling locals tripped over our table and filled my eyeglasses case with beer. Lastly, the bartenders--even when the bar is half full--will work on their phones before servicing the tables. You can probably do better on a Saturday night on U St. read more

Came here for an event and we had the whole room upstairs. There were a lot of people and the acoustics were painful due to the walls being brick. But as far as spaces go, it is out of the way. This is the best place to host private events because they don't charge some crazy minimum like most other places. WARNING: They will charge a $20 hold for certain cards without letting you know beforehand. The costumer service representative was not forthcoming in her response to my initial review on google. My friend and I were both NEVER made aware of a $20 charge to be placed on our cards until we saw it in our bank statement the day after. This appears to be an ongoing problem with this bar as confirmed by the costumer service rep who mistook me for another patron who was also confused about this matter the night before. She also confirmed that she has had previous calls about this problem with other patrons which has resulted in no change in the processing system or prior warning of the charge to paying costumers. My friends and I decided to watch the MSU vs Minnesota game here on Saturday night. We arrived around 7:30 and the place was buzzing. Lots of folks in the bar watching bball games and catching up. They also had an event going on upstairs at The Hooch. I was greeted with hugs and smiles per usual by the staff and owner. A table was available for us in the back of the first floor with a great tv view. We had food and drinks that came out promptly. We had fish tacos, chicken wraps and burgers with sweet potato fries on the side. The prices are very inexpensive coupled with great service. I always love coming here. read more

I love Sudhouse, I've been here on a date, I've come for a birthday party. This bar in DC is literally the chillest bar for any occasion. If you come here on a weekday after 5pm to close you will be surrounded by business professionals of any age as well as young millennials of the legal drinking age to the older generation of millennials. The barkeeps here are always so friendly. When I came here on a date, the boy I was with was so nervous he spiked his 75% spent beer all over the countertop and the bartender laughed made a joke about being with a pretty lady and gave him a new one of the house. There also always seems to be a special going on, sometimes it's a $5 glass of wine other times it's shots of the bartenders choice. Honestly this is the place to go if you like the people you're with and want to unwind over a drink. There are also regulars that come here alone just to chill after a long day. I can't say enough good things about this bar, but honestly if you're on U-street you might as well come and check it out for yourself! read more

Never been to this place but I'm so glad I was able to experience it for happy hour. My husband and his friend planned on going here for happy hour and I decided to crash it with my cousins. Sudhouse is actually a really cool place. First of all, it attracts all types of people which I'm a big fan of. You'll see customers with suits on to customers wearing jeans and sneakers. The weather was also awesome so it was nice to be outside (the only downfall of being outside is being with all the smokers). Their bathrooms are 'Whichever' which I absolutely love. Sudhouse has different specials every night and Thursdays, they have $5 draft beer and $6 burgers and wraps. The burgers come with fries. Outside, the menu states that there are $4 wings, but that is false. When we bought wings, the total amount was way more than expected (I'm the only one that questioned it). The food came out and I was starving so I ate everything and thought everything was delicious. False. It's great for the price but the food was totally mediocre. The wings have multiple sauces like honey bbq, Cajun, dry rub, plain, etc. I wasn't impressed with the food, but you get what you pay for, I guess. I loved the atmosphere there though. The bartender was pretty quick and attentive. Will defInitely be back to hang out there again. read more
