I've been coming to Diva Nails in Millbrae for about a year, mainly to see Son. I was very loyal to him and referred many people (my mom sister other sister MIL sister in law friends etc.) because he was fast and, at one point, consistent. Unfortunately, ever since he became the manager/owner, the quality of his work has noticeably gone downhill. I decided to stick around because I understood he might be overwhelmed, but the experience just kept getting worse. Sitting in his chair now feels rushed and stressful. It's like he just wants to get you in and out as quickly as possible, regardless of quality. He gave me three sets that I didn't like. On the fourth visit, I finally spoke up because it was a French tip that wasn't done well. He spent maybe five extra minutes fixing it, and that apparently was too much. The unspoken rule seems to be that you're not allowed to spend more than 30 minutes in his chair. When I tried to make an appointment again, he told me not to come back. I find this extremely disappointing and unfair, especially to customers who were loyal for years and supported him by sending business his way. Being fast shouldn't come at the cost of quality or basic respect for paying customers. read more

I got a $50 pedicure that had no massage. My nails and pedicure was done in 42 min. Very rushed and done with little care. Wet towel used used to clean my hands smelled of mildew. I've been coming here the past 3 times I've gotten my nails done. The first 2 times have been good, but this last time they continued to work on my broken nail after it started bleeding. They left it looking cracked and my finger cut open. They told me they couldn't put a fake one on, unless I came back the next day. No apology, no discount offered. If you've ever wondered if the nail techs are talking bad about you, I want to tell you that the ladies here are talking about you. I am a Vietnamese customer that came in for a pedicure and from the beginning to end, my nail tech was telling the workers beside her how ugly my feet are, how big my calves are, how I must cut my own toe nails and make it ugly, and how I have such a big belly. She asked the techs if she should ask me when the last time I got a pedicure was and if I was pregnant. But she caught herself and said it' would be awkward to ask me if I was pregnant and I wasn't. She thenl continued to analyze my belly if it was a "pregnant belly" or a "fat belly". I don't think my toes are THAT bad to be saying any of these horrible things behind my back, but yes I do normally cut my toe nails short but I had just gotten a pedicure 3 weeks prior. I was quite overwhelmed by this so I changed my mind on doing any color so I didn't have to sit in their chair any longer. The tech's name is Phuong. She spoke in a tone that anyone non-Vietnamese speaking would have no idea she's talking about you. If you're wondering if I ever told them I was Vietnamese and can understand, I didn't say anything. I go to Son to get my nails done. He sits on the left side of the shop. He is very fast and efficient. He can do a gel set within 30 minutes and a brand new acrylic set under an hour! My nails also last over 3 weeks without lifting. I also love how patient he is with me when I choose my color. He will test out multiple colors for me. read more

I went in wanting to like this place. I went on a Monday evening, without an appointment and they were still able to start working on my nails right away. I had never gotten dip powder before, so I was super excited. Diane explained how it was safer than acrylic and that it'll last longer too. I get my nails done, I'm satisfied and go home. And to me the negative reviews were maybe one off experiences. Fast forward to the today (I got my nails done yesterday), I look at my nails and an entire nail's polish has fallen off. Every visit has been pleasant so far, and I'm now a regular. The owner and workers are friendly and accommodating. She gets to know the customers and brightens up their day. The gentleman that does my acrylic nails always does one nail design and asks if it looks ok before continuing. He gets our nails done pretty fast as well. My first visit was a good experience. Felt my manicure was given full attention and was made to feel like I would continue to come back again. The second manicure made me feel very different. She took me and did the very minimum to get me done! She cut many corners to take the next customer to make money. Their services depends on how many appointments she has, when busy no towel over hand rest, no cuticle trimming or pushing, no warm towel, and especially no hand cream or massage, polish was done but looks like my nails grown out a week ago. I called around 12:15 and said I would be running 10-15 mins late. The owner who picked up the phone said I would have to wait or reschedule. I explained i am only doing single color gel, i would still have to wait? She replied yes. so I asked her if I got there on time would they be able to see me? I rusheddddd and ran there to make it on time but Sun was with a customer still. Then the lady explained to me he won't be doing my nails because I'm not getting a design. She didn't give me a chance to choose a design and keep my appointment with him because she never explained. I am about to sit down and she sees me holding food and asks if I need a few minutes to eat? I asked if that would be okay and she said yes. Then I return after 5 minutes and still nobody is available to take me. I ask her how much longer because I wanted to go outside to finish eating and she tells me she can't rush her other staff and it's not all about me?????? The owner who I'm assuming is Trish also said if you're not happy, you don't have to wait. I should've asked her if she would be happy rushing to an appointment because they insisted you be there JUST to wait and be given an attitude. I made this appointment a week in advance, you tell me i MUST make it there by 12:30 and by 12:40 still nobody is available to see me. They charge $60 for a regular mani and pedi, which is absurd. They left nail polish on my fingers and didn't bother cleaning it before I left. And to make things worst, my 9 yr old niece was getting her nails done too, and one of the ladies rudely told her to go sit at a table without showing her which table. I never wrote a review before, but this place is so BAD that I must warn others. I think it was the owner that helped me first. She started filing my fingers while talking to the workers there. I told her she's doing it too hard and it hurts. She started giving me an attitude and said " oh , I can't help you then, I find other person to do your nails". No apology at all, making me feel liked I'm the problem. After only a week, the gel nail started coming off. I went back to have them fix it. I paid too much for gel nail to last only one week. Made an appointment on a Wednesday at 11am with a girlfriend after she was impressed with another friends nails. The shop is in a hallway away from the Main Street so can be kind of tricky to find. First impressions of walking in was that the shop was clean and up to date with its of colors to choose from. I got burgundy gel mani and a pedi while my friend got a dark purple pedi and acrylic (almond shape) we were both please with the mani/pedi as they took their time and I didn't feel rushed at all even when more people came in. One negative thing is my mani paint job doesn't look even, some spots look like they could've used another coat or at least an even coat. Place is nice, clean, and spacious. Customer service could be better. I walked in and was greeted poorly. I inquired if I could get my gel polish removed and wanted to reapply new color. Lady who greeted me first told me to pick a polish in one direction as I was looking told me to go in another direction. I had no idea where I was to look as it was my first experience there. This was about the 10th time I've gone to Diva Nail and the fourth time I have walked out of there after calling ahead to make an appointment disappointed. Most other times it's the shape or length which I typically chalk up to my bad because I didn't speak up enough for myself. But, this time was my last straw with Diva Nails. I called ahead, was there on time, and showed them numerous photos of the look and color I wanted. I asked for my nails to be dipped with the clear/white dip and have the gel French base color over it. Instead I paid $40 for what looks like three coats of clear nail polish. I asked repeatedly for the clear/white dip because I wanted a cloudy white look. Made it very clear at the end that I didn't like how they looked and they didn't make any suggestion that I could come back later in the week for a redo. Really disappointed. Also, heads up- they're raising their prices! I asked how much my nails cost and they told me $45! I looked in their brochure and it said $40 - also I was going to pay with CASH in full! I told them again that their brochure said $40 and they finally let me pay just the $40. Not that $5 is THAT big of a deal but come on- look at my nails!! The picture you see is the manicure I got after sitting there for 1 hour, and spent $35. I went there in May 2021 to remove my powder gel manicure and requested for a gel manicure with Chrome and just color. The owner was not happy that I got my nails done from somewhere else, and she said it was too thick and will take 30 mins to remove. I said I'm ok with it, and she asked me to pick a color while she went to help other customers. 30 mins later she came back to remove my manicure, and told me that she cannot put chrome on my nail because it will take too much time and the person who knows how to do designs wasn't working that day. Another Vietnamese lady offered me other design, and the owner talked to her in Vietnamese ( probably told her to shut up and just let me stick with the original colors) and suddenly the lady told me there was no design available for me except the original colors. *When I say design- it's just the cat eyes and chrome, not even complicated design. * So I decided just to get my previous manicure removed and didn't request for any color. The only request I made was to cut my nails SHORT AND ROUND. The attached picture is the result I got, I kid you not. And they charged me $35 for that. I gave her the $35, but I told her I didn't request for gel, and that's just clear coat that she put on my nail. $35 gel would have more coat than that. She insisted that I was the one who asked for no color, and that's what I'll get. No. I asked for no color because they can't accommodate any design that I requested for. So I just wanted them to clean up my nail. I NEVER asked for a clear gel manicure that would cost me $35. Also, when I asked for the design I wanted, the lender said she has no time for me. I made an appointment to go there and I got there on time. While I was sitting there I saw her took in one walk in customer as well. So I don't know what's her standard of not having enough time to accommodate her customer. read more
