I typically don't write reviews, but in this case and what had happened to me, I felt the need to write a review. I do wanna start off with saying that the pedicures that my husband and I received were amazing and the rating is not for the pedicures. I typically don't get my nails done with acrylics or extensions because I just do press on at home but because it was my birthday weekend I wanted to spoil myself a little bit so I didn't have to put on press and I was pampered a little bit. Originally, I had asked to do a basic manicure, but changed my mind to do gel extensions after seeing some of the work on yelp. So I asked for gelx extensions and I showed them the inspo picture that I wanted from Yelp. After my pedicure was done, they moved me to the chair so that I can start my gelx extension . When the application started, I started noticing that when she was applying the extensions, they were a little bit crooked, but I kept my mouth quiet because I assumed they would just fix it during the filing portion. When it came to the filing portion, for some reason, she pushed back all the cuticles on the inner side of each nail to file and make the almond shape but when it came to filing the outer side of each nail she didn't push the cuticle back which a lot of my fingers had gel on the skin. Once the filing was complete, I looked at my nails, and all of my nails were crooked. They were all pointing outward, and I noticed that one of my fingers had a nail extension that was put on there wasn't even the width of my natural nail, so there was a gap between my natural nail and the gelX extension. This nail had to be redone three times. Another nail artist came by and just grabbed my hand and started filing and didn't even say anything to me, almost like it was a bother to fix my nails. By this time I had been in the shop for almost 2 hours between my pedicure and starting my gelx extension. The nail artist asked me what design I wanted AGAIN, so save time I completely scratched the original design I wanted because it had intricate 3-D art and nail gems and decided to change to cateye nail polish. On the cat eye nail display that was provided me to choose the color, there were two types of magnetic design that I can have one was the S type of shape and there was a French tip "u" shaped magnetic designed that I personally wanted to get. When it came to actually doing the magnetic part to make the nail a cat eye, the artist didn't ask me if I wanted the S shape or the U shape they just kept going and they continued to cure each nail. You might ask why I didn't speak up. It was because I was already in the nail shop for over two hours and me and my husband had plans so I didn't have the time for her to completely remove the color to redo it due to her already curing each nail. Once I got in the car, I could already see that the nail needed at least one or two more coats because you can clearly see through my nail, which took away from the cat eye design and the way that she swirled the magnetic wand, It did not even leave the S shape. There is barely a cat eye on my nails, but to make matters worse, the nail that was used bend so easily and they are not strong whatsoever. So it was a bit of a disappointment to get a set of nails that could be great, but they were not. They were very crooked. I had to go home and fix them myself. So to spend $80 on a set of nails that were crooked, thin, easily bendable and you can see through them and did not have a true cat eye design on them and I paid extra for the cat eye. It was a bit of a disappointment. We are not from this side of the bay so going back to the shop is not an option for me. Again, I wanna repeat this review and rating is specifically for my gel X full set and not the pedicures that were received by my husband and I those were great. read more

I really wanted to love this place because the staff were so incredibly nice and welcoming when I came in on Friday. The atmosphere is great, but unfortunately, I have to share a cautionary note regarding their pedicure services. During my appointment, the technician worked very deep into the corners of my toenails. While she was able to remove an ingrown nail on my left foot, the pressure and digging were quite painful. On my right big toe, there was a moment where she was working on the side and had to stop suddenly. By the weekend, my right toe was severely inflamed, and I ended up at urgent care. I am now on a course of antibiotics for an infection, sadly needing to taking them during my vacation. I truly appreciate how kind the team is, but I would urge the salon to be more cautious with how aggressively they handle ingrown edges to prevent these kinds of medical issues for future clients. read more

Been here a few time now and this place never disappoints. Emily is an excellent manicurist, showed her a design and she was able to fulfill it. Her staff member did my pedicure and did a great job I was so relaxed and almost fell asleep. I definitely will come back again. Also I think the price is fair if not less expensive than other places I have been especially with design work etc. read more

Last minute booked through Yelp and the person who manages this is very responsive. There was a bit of a wait time despite having a reservation. I did inquire beforehand about the sanitary practices of the location since I saw another review that said the tools are not sanitized properly, but was assured over message that they are. However, when I got there, the review ended up being right. The cuticle cutter that they used on me already had someone else's cuticles built up in there . That was unfortunate to see. The person that did my nails did an excellent job. However, I asked over the phone about the price of gel and she told me $40-didn't realize the cat eye would tack on an extra $15. Chrome is also extra $15. I thought that was pretty excessive for the cat eye especially because it's already in the polish that they use anyways. Probably will not return due to the sanitary practices of the location and wait time, but good if you're in a pinch and ok sacrificing a possible infection... read more

Texted Emily and was able to get a gel manicure and gel pedi booked with no issues! The salon was pretty empty around lunchtime on a Wednesday, so it was nice and peaceful. Pedi and Mani were top notch and I just had to bring in inspo pictures! They were exactly replicating the pictures but I personally felt like the colors, chrome, etc were even better! Take a look at the photo. Pay attention to the edges, shape, texture/bubbles in polish, and obviously chips. This is gel and I don't work with my hands. I just got them done this weekend and it's only Wednesday! I paid $75+20% tip for a mani/pedi -- what a waste of money. This is definitely the worst manicure I've ever gotten. I'm almost positive the woman who did my nails was the owner too, which is even worse. The gel polish went over my skin in some areas and was sloppy at the top/cuticle level. There are bubbles and even specs in the polish and I'm pretty sure she only put one coat on. It started chipping so fast that I can't imagine she followed gel polish protocol. I wish I had been paying more attention during the manicure. I've never had such a bad manicure in my life. I didn't say anything at the time because I wanted to be supportive of local businesses and I tipped her for 20% but, wow is it bad! The shape of some of my nails are also shortest in the middle and long on the sides, which is so bizarre and when she asked me if I wanted to cut them or just file them down, I said to file, and she immediately started using the clippers to cut them. I wasn't going to write a review, but I'm so disappointed and I have to get another manicure today because I'm going on a date tomorrow and I'm embarrassed to have these nails. I also know that there are other nail salons in the area and I'm shocked that this place has such a high rating, considering the lack of cleanliness of the facility, the sketchy building it was in, and obviously the quality. I just moved here and I'm never coming back. The only other person that was at the salon getting their nails done complained about the quality of her nails as well when she was finished. Now that I think about it, I believe there was supposed to be short massages with my manicure/pedicure too, and that definitely didn't happen. I've had my nails done at this salon a few times, but I won't be returning. One major concern is hygiene -- I noticed that the tools were not sterilized between clients. The nail techs would just place them back into a cabinet, which is very unsanitary. Also, while Emilly (the owner) seems to be the only one skilled at nail designs, the quality of her work depends on how busy she is. When rushed, the results are sloppy and careless. I got my nails done for my 50th birthday and let's just say the amount of damage that was done to my nails took over a year for my hands as well as the shape of my nails to repair. when I arrived at the shop I let them know I was going to a special event and the owner proceeded to have an inexperienced individual work on my hands. I was bleeding and crying and I had to beg the owner to take over and 'repair' the damage. needless to say, I never returned and I sat on this review for years, and then the blood began to boil again. This is not a professional situation and the owner didn't stand by her 'product' or properly repair the situation. Had gel nails done 4 days ago, as you can see on the photo I share, the top edge of a few gel nails start to chip away. I had many gel nails done at different nail salons and I know what quality gel nails should be - no, didn't happen at EM. I suspect it was just a matter of the work of that one female (or male??) nail technician. She (or he) didn't seem to have the patience to make sure that the nails were done properly. I decided to try out this nail salon, and while the staff was friendly, the outcome of the manicure wasn't that great. I opted for a simple solid white gel manicure--no designs. One of the nail ended up with a bubble/bump, creating an uneven and not smooth texture. Additionally, the sides of several nails were missing clear coat, making the uneven textures and inconsistencies in the coloring very obvious. Perhaps white is a more challenging color to work with. Unfortunately, I didn't notice these issues until I got to my car because as soon as the manicure was finished, I was directed to the register to pay. Overall, the experience was okay (I called ahead and was seen right away when I arrived), but I was disappointed with the attention to detail. read more

First time visiting, very clean, bright and comfortable setting, presented with menu with many options, no pressure but I chose pampering pedicure which is worth every penny. Manicure was really gentle with precise cleanliness, however, polish women chose was not so good, it did not get dry all the way so it was all smear by the time I got home, I went the next day and the owner gladly redo my color at NO CHARGE!!! It was very kind of them to accommodate us at the last minute before their closing time however, the service we received was so-so. The power got cut off in the middle of the service and they had to turn on the flashlights of the phone to complete the service.
