The cost to us was less than the cost of a one-day bike share pass in Vancouver-- and these are nice, comfortable, 21-speed bikes. And the come with helmets and locks and nice young man ensured they fit correctly. So we took off den the Rideau Canal, crossed the bridge over to Gatineau, QC, up the Ottawa River to the next bridge, crossed back to Ottawa and then headed up the Ottawa River till we stopped for lunch at a lovely spot called Remic's Rapids. Then we cut across country on Island Park Drive till we hit the Canal again and headed downstream to Pretoria Bridge and Cyco's on Hawthorne Ave. Extra points: my wife let me in on a Canadian secret. Gord and Bruce are the most Anglo-Canadian names there are. Yannick is the most Franco-Canadian name. They aren't necessarily the most common but the most quintessential Canadian names.

We went to a bixi station and I put in my credit card to rent two bikes for the day. I hit "print code" and nothing happened. A bit annoyed, I made sure to set the next bike as "view code". I figured I could get the code to show up again for the first bike. WRONG. I called tech support and they told me to try again. When I put my credit card in again to see my order, I was unable to get to whatever the hell screen you need to see a code. Then the machine just died on me and set an "out of order" message. I called tech support AGAIN and the only solution was to go to the next closest station, about a 10 minute walk away. So apparently they can bill me wirelessly through their station, but head office can't use some system to unlock a bike for me. Once we got to the next station and finally unlocked another bike, we were off. I'm a frequent bike commuter and I realize that I've been spoiled by my crappy little bike. The bixi bikes are ridiculously heavy and clunky. This was a big problem as we hit some trails that ended in stairs with little ramps that we had to push the bikes up. They also don't offer locks, so if you want to stop somewhere that doesn't have a bixi station close by, you're kind of hooped. Or you sit on a patio and watch those bikes like a hawk, so you don't have to pay $1,000 for the lost/stolen bike. Luckily, most of the museums had bixi stations right outside. Next time we're in a city where we want to bike, we'll just rent one from a regular bike renting spot so we can rent normal, lighter bikes with locks.

Unprofessional and rude, and they don't know how to wrap a boat. We bought our 22 ft pontoon boat…read morethere with a 150 horse shiny new motor at the end of last season. We opted to store the boat there over the winter and have it wrapped after using it for only one month. Improper wrapping caused scratches all over the motor. They wanted us to bring the boat back so they could fix it! I told them that wasn't right, so they sent a detailer out to buff out the scratches. While they are mostly no longer visible except in photos, the top of the cowling still shows obvious swirl marks. No apologies were ever issued and the wife owner was rude. They should have given us a brand new cowling.
